Jo Jo can make a meeeean breakfast, that's for sure. I went to this place looking for a diner-style breakfast with a side of charm, and that's what was served up. My grandpa lives about two minutes away, so it's an easy place for us to meet for breakfast since he doesn't have to drive too far. My mom and sister joined in this time as well, and I was happy to see we could get a table right away. This place is extremely tiny... about 7-8 tables... so go early! The atmosphere is a tad chaotic due to a tiny staff, but I actually enjoyed watching everything that was going on around me. Coffee was served up right away, and while it wasn't the best I've ever had, it was enough to kick-start my day. The menu has all of the classics on it, and I decided to go with two eggs over a medium, hash browns, and a side of sausage. My mom also ordered pancakes for all of us to share, for which I was so thankful... especially when blueberry syrup was brought over. Everything tasted fresh and just like grandma makes, and there wasn't a clean plate left on the table. The best part was when our server told us she brought the hot sauce we were using from home since she had extra. Not the most sanitary-sounding comment I've ever heard, but it just kind of completed the greasy diner experience for me. Cheap food, big menu, personable wait staff, and classic charm. I'll certainly be back!

So after reading an article on stltoday.com yesterday & as I'm always looking for good breakfast places I saw Jo Jo's as one of the top diners in St. Louis. So this Saturday morning a buddy of mine & I decided to try it. Well I was totally impressed. The service was spot on & then the food was outstanding. They even have grits which you can't get up in these northern parts of the US although I am a St. Louis boy. Even though I wasn't worried about the bill because I was totally satisfied but it was pretty inexpensive with all the food we ordered. Can't wait to get back & highly recommend it if you like old style breakfast & service.

So peaceful, beautiful, and the perfect start to our morning! What truly made the experience exceptional was our server, Jenn. She was incredible from start to finish!! She was warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. She made great recommendations, checked on us at all the right times, and went above and beyond in ways you don't see often. My husband is picky about biscuits and gravy, and Jenn kindly brought him a sample of the gravy first to make sure he'd like it...such a small gesture to some people, but truly made it special for my husband. She even sent us off with coffee to go, which we really appreciated!! The food was just as impressive. I had the traditional breakfast. Everything was cooked perfectly, the potatoes were nice and crispy, Jenn recommended the ham, which was so flavorful and perfectly charred, so good!!! My husband ended up loving his biscuits and gravy! Between the amazing service, delicious food, and relaxing riverfront setting, this was easily one of our favorite breakfast experiences. Jenn truly made it memorable, and we'll definitely be asking for her every time we come back. Can't wait to return!!

What a charming cafe in the middle of a charming Downtown area!…read more It was freezing the morning we went in, but I was wanting breakfast - specifically pancakes. I had this place in the bookmarks and figured now was the best time to visit. Parking can be an issues in Downtown St. Charles since it is limited to street parking or public parking a few blocks away. We found parking right in front of FPC, mainly because it was a cold, Monday morning. We were greeted immediately, and inside was much smaller than I expected. We got seated right away though, and a good chance to really review the menu. I got a house coffee (delicious), and my husband got a Purple Haze Lemonade. We ended up getting a kid's pancake with bacon and scrambled eggs, Short Rib Breakfast Stack, and a Bomb Burrito. The pancake for my 2 year old was MASSIVE so it was a good day for him lol. The short rib stack was yummy - hash browns with runny eggs and meat on top. The burrito was also pretty good. Our breakfast entrees came with a side order of potatoes and while it was good, it got saltier over time so I might not get that next time. They advertise beignets, so we might go for that next time and try out their lunch menu!

At noon on a Sunday, it was bustling, but luckily, there was a very short wait for a table. Our server, Antigone, was fantastic! She provided amazing recommendations, was extremely warm and friendly, and made our experience very pleasant despite the somewhat lengthy wait for our food. The food was well worth the wait. I thoroughly enjoyed my order of salmon croquettes with rice and a biscuit. My mate's Build-A-Breakfast order of scrambled eggs, hash browns, and chicken wings had some of the best-tasting wings that I have ever had in my life. When I return to Hive Cafe, I will absolutely order the chicken and waffles just so I can have an order of those wings to myself.

The server came over immediately and gave me menus. I briefly saw the menu online but figured I'd do a once over before making my decision. I went with the build-your-own breakfast and got the eggs and potatoes with a biscuit and turkey sausage. Drink wise, I went with water and a strawberry-pineapple mimosa. The mimosa was so refreshing and I def. appreciated the pour after a stressful flight! It wasn't long until my food came out. I was a bit disappointed at the portion of the egg as they seemed almost too small for what I was supposed to receive. The peppers on the potatoes threw me off. I think I was expecting something different. Nevertheless, they were good but not what I had pictured. Surprisingly, the biscuit was the highlight of my meal. It was perfect! The turkey sausage tasted like regular turkey sausage, so nothing special there. Overall, my server was awesome and gave great service. While I enjoyed my visit, it would have been nice if there signs to let customers know they're under construction instead of walking into dust on the floor, chairs, and everywhere. Aside from that, I def intend on coming back!

This was the first visit for my wife and me, although my son and daughter-in-law have been here several times before. Erin was our server, and she absolutely made the experience memorable. She was upbeat, polite, and incredibly friendly, always checking on our table with a smile. Great service can really elevate a meal, and Erin definitely did that for us. For food, I ordered the Notorious B.N.G., my wife went with the avocado toast, my son chose the BIG A#! Burrito, and my daughter-in-law built her own omelet. Our food arrived in about 15 minutes, which was impressive considering how busy the restaurant was. Everything tasted very good, and everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. Between the quality food, fun atmosphere, and outstanding service, it turned into a great family celebration. I probably could've done without the scrambled eggs because it was drizzled with something on top of the eggs. I'm usually picky about my eggs to begin with and I didn't really eat it. But the corned beef portion size didn't equate to the eggs size. I was kinda left fishing for more corned beef. It was nice but had different flavor than I'm use to...not the southern taste I was looking for. But I still appreciated the meal. The drink was very very sweet, too sweet to enjoy. The viscosity was also a bit off.
