I was devastated for months because my work schedule wouldn't let me have brunch at Grand Pied. I literally dreamed about their pancakes. Today finally came, and I got to visit on a Wednesday lunch. Our hostess and staffs were wonderful and made us feel so special right from the start. Of course, the food was the real highlight. The pancakes were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and perfectly buttery. The gumbo was rich and flavorful, well-seasoned without being overwhelming. The grits were cooked to perfection and paired beautifully with the gumbo. Everything felt incredibly comforting on a cold day (see finished plates for reference) We came on a Wednesday morning, so it wasn't crowded at all. Such a relaxed, cozy experience.
My cousin invited me to breakfast. She selected this place. I checked Yelp, or course and the menu. So many raved about the pancakes but I was skeptical. I enjoy fluffy buttermilk pancakes. Not ones that look like these. We arrived and had to wait a little bit. Once we were seated and realized we needed to place the order with the QR code, we were good to go. Someone should've told us. It's a quaint eclectic place. We both ordered the pancakes and potatoes. I ordered that Brown Sugar Oat Chai and added dark rum I brought with me. Oh yeah they're BYOB. Nice touch. The Chai was good. They use Tazo so there's that. Not homemade. Our food arrived and I was anxious about digging in. The pancakes were different but DELISH. The potatoes were perfection. Crispy on the outside and ever so tender in the inside. I've been trying to figure out how to make those at home. I'd go back and would have the same meal again.
My wife and I stopped into Grand Pied for the first time on Friday, 12/6/25 around 10 AM, and it was a great experience from start to finish. The place has a warm, welcoming vibe that made us feel comfortable right away. The service was friendly and attentive, and you can tell they really take pride in what they do. Our food came out fresh, hot, and full of flavor -- exactly what we were hoping for with a late-morning bite. Everything tasted homemade and thoughtfully prepared. We walked out already talking about what we want to try next time. Definitely a spot we'll be coming back to!
Have had this place on my list since we moved to the south side earlier this year! The parking kind of sucks (street parking) but it was worth it. It's a small place but not tiny. They were immediately friendly and it's charming inside. I loved all of the unique decor and couldn't get over the different pans and bowls they used for light fixtures. The food came out pretty fast and was soooo good. My husband had the gumbo shrimp and grits which were packed with flavor! I tried the ham, eggs, and potatoes! LET ME TELL YOU... AMAZING! Nothing needed any additional seasonings and it was so good. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and so fluffy on the inside. Ham was good, and the gravy was great as well. Can't wait to go back and try new things!
Cute little charming cozy gem in south city. It's seat yourself and order from the menu you download on your phone. The staff is friendly but you do have to constantly grab an employee if you need anything in addition. The BF began with the Shaken Brown Sugar Oat Iced Cold Brew which is cold brew coffee shaken with oat milk and brown sugar, no frills, just straight to the point and well made, reasonably priced. The pancakes are a must try. They are serving the BEST pancakes in the city hands down. Three buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup, homemade whipped cream and blackberry jam are phenomenal. The pancakes taste as if your grandmother was in the kitchen with her cast iron skillet making you breakfast. The quality is superb. Each and every pancake stays hot from the first bite to the last bite. These pancakes are a family favorite. Crispy edges and golden all around with a fluffy interior. I don't care that these pancakes are $15, they are well worth it!!! ABSOLUTELY delicious, so great in fact we turned around and took my mother a few days later so she could experience the phenomenon. We also tried the bbq pork steak over cheese grits. I have been wanting to get here for dinner to try this pork steak and to know that they had it for breakfast with cheddar grits I couldn't pass it up. I wish I would have passed it up. The pork steak was over cooked and you could tell it was from the day prior. The bbq sauce on top of the pork steak was horrible. The cheese grits were some of the worst grits I have ever eaten. They were runny and not seasoned as was the pork steak and the bbq sauce was so nasty that nothing worked together and in addition each item helped to off-set the other. This dish was so awful it should have been sent back. We have since returned since our initial visit because the pancakes are just that good. We will eventually try other items on the menu.

Grand Pied was lovely. I ordered beignets and biscuits and there was plenty of food for the price, all of which tasted great. It was unique but still classic. The restaurant itself is also super cozy and provides plenty of caffeine options, like matcha and shaken cold brew. I would give a five stars but the service was a bit rude, saying we "got lucky" to have gotten our table while I was apologizing for being one minute late to our waitlist spot among other disinterested behavior. However, I would likely give this place another chance at some point if I lived locally.
Grand Pied is such a gem! The chai was absolutely delicious, and the food was just as good. I ordered the Special Slinger and the beignets, and both were fantastic. The restaurant has a cozy, intimate feel with a nice patio for outdoor seating. Ordering through the QR code was simple and convenient, and everything came out quickly. Great food, great atmosphere, and a unique dining experience.
This place never ever disappoints. Great service tremendous, flavorful delicious food, lovely atmosphere. My favorite treat yourself on a day off brunch
I have a soft spot for some hearty and flavorful Southern and Cajun food! I've been to Grand Pied many times and they never disappoint me. First off, their Pork steak and dirty grits are back for the summer and as soon as I saw it on the menu again I knew it was gonna be a lil party in my mouth! The pork steak was perfectly seasoned, moist, and fall apart tender while the cheesy grits were cooked to perfection. No matter how empty or busy it gets in the restaurant, I've always had great experiences with the organization and professionalism of the wait staff. Lastly, I've been here many times and I just realized you can bring your own bottle(s) if beer, wine, and/or spirits.
Brunch with some New Orleans flare! I've heard great things about Grand Pied and even when we were inside, people were raving about how they go all the time. We got the Breakfast Po Boy and the Beignets and Gravy. Their potatoes are unreal. Perfectly crisp. Everything was packed with flavor and quite filling. The Po Boy's slaw was a fun addition to a classic breakfast sandwich. The balance of the fluffy and buttery beignets with the creamy gravy and eggs.
Super busy which is a good sign! Easy to order on the QR code menu. Had really great service once we got in there but wouldn't say the hostess was overly friendly...
Great brunch spot! Definitely recommend taking advantage of the waitlist feature on their website before coming in because the space is small. We lucked out and were able to snag spots at the bar when we popped in at prime brunch time on Sunday. As noted in other reviews, the pancakes are a MUST! Super thick with a nice crispy edge. We also had the goat cheese omelette which was tasty but could've used a little something extra. We will def be back for more pancakes and to try some other menu items.
Best pancakes in St. Louis! Thick, crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. Grits were great and flavorful. You order through kiosk but they had very friendly staff always readily available. Cute smaller breakfast shop, we will definitely be back! read more

This is such a cute little place. It was packed for brunch when we arrived. We opted to sit outside, it was covered and nice with all the plants. I like the ability to order and pay right from my phone. It's BYOB so we grabbed a bottle of champagne from the cute grocery store on the block. We ordered a carafe of orange, it was 12 dollars, a little overpriced in my opinion. The pancakes are the star of the show! I loved them, you get 3 nice sized ones so we split that and the dirty pork steak and grits. The pork steak was super tender and tasted amazing, we split that as well so the portions are nice size. I had the loveliest time here with a friend celebrating her birthday. Grand Pied had been on my list for a while, and it's her favorite brunch in the city. I totally get it!! These are the best grits I've found in the area. The gumbo on top was flavorful, perfectly spiced, with tender sausage and shrimp. The toast and jam, so simple, but their house made preserves were divine. Lovely to split for a side. My friend got the Fries and Shine, I had a bite and the fries and sausage gravy were very, very good. Flavorful gravy, and a crispy yet velvety fry. I want to give a shoutout to the staff member who made my friend's birthday special! She loves the pomegranate lemonade, even mentioned it on the drive over, but it wasn't technically "in stock" - when my friend went to the restroom I asked about it, and she whipped up a lemonade to surprise her with before our food came out! She was so tickled. DELICIOUS food and lovely kind people, I will certainly be back! read more
*new brunch spot unlocked* We always talk about ambience, quality of food, and the people when evaluating a restaurant. This place is as close to perfection as it gets. First and foremost: BYOB, count me in! I brought a batch of carajillos and went to work. The food was amazing. The pancakes have a nice crust. They're thick, fluffy, and have nice crispy edges. A truly unique pancake in the best of ways. The chicken sandwich gets applause as well. The chicken was super crispy with a wonderful, fluffy homemade bun. The slaw, pickles and sauce all meld perfectly with the hot honey. I also got one of their chai lattes which was wonderful. Super rich with the brown sugar. The service was great. You order with a qr code, but they have plenty of floaters perusing to help with any needs you may have. Absolutely loved, loved, loved my experience at grand pied. read more
This place is a hidden gem! We chose it because it was close to the botanical garden and the menu was appealing. It is pretty small and only offers 2 or 4 top tables plus a few seats at the bar so this is NOT a spot for large groups. There are QR menus on each table and you use that to order food/drinks to the table. I got the brown sugar oat cold brew (YUM!) and we each had the sausage egg and cheese sandwich (the jam it comes with is the perfect compliment to the sandwich)Food and drink were delivered quickly and everything was delicious. Generous serving sizes. They also have a table with to go containers for food and drink so you can pack up any leftovers you want to take. Recommend getting here early since it is so small, but this is a great brunch spot before going to the Tower Grove Farmers Market or the botanical garden. read more

First time here and discovered them on social media. With being out of town I had no idea about them, but also found they had strong reviews. As it turns out I understand why after a great experience. I booked a reservation on a weekend for three. The timing was accurate upon arrival and we were seated inside. There is also a side patio. Customers use a QR Code to review the menu offerings. Service was a bit inconsistent, but super friendly. They were packed for weekend brunch, so grace given. Drinks were placed on the table and orders taken. The interior vibe is super cool. Lots of vintage decor in the old building with wood floors. A lot of character. Needless to say I absolutely adored the atmosphere. It's a bit loud, but tolerable. Food arrived around 15 minutes or so. My Super Slinger was exactly as described with potatoes, ground beef chili and egg. It was filling and delicious. My son had the mammoth Dirty Burger which he thought was great. My son's friend had the Pork & Cheddar Omelette which she liked. Checkout was smooth. 4.5, but rounding down with a few service hiccups. I would love to return at a less busy time. Keep in mind parking is off street only. read more
I was very surprised at how good the line cook delight was! Never would I have paired chili with grits ** chefs kiss** Next time I'll trying the fried chicken salad. This was my first choice but I opted for a heavier meal. Recommend coming here for a casual comfort meal. & BYOB! read more

I really enjoyed this restaurant. We were able to get on the waitlist and we came a little before closing so there really wasn't a wait. What I didn't know is that it is BYOB and you are able to bring in liquors of your choice to have with your meals. We luckily ran right down the street to the 7-Eleven to get something to go with our meal. I really enjoyed my gumbo and grits. The chicken sandwich also has some great flavor, but I will say that it was a little too small for the bun. read more
Overall, this place has good food for brunch! My only holdback is that it's a bit tight WAIT TIME: Definitely try to join the waitlist before coming if you can, it's a small space so we had to wait for a little bit to be seated. But considering we come for Sunday brunch we didn't wait that long (20 mins). FOOD: We split the ham eggs and potatoes plate, and the pancakes. Personally I LOVED the pancakes! They were much thicker and very different than others I've had before; kind of reminded me of funnel cake dough. The potatoes were also so yummy and the country ham was very solid. The food was really good all around! SERVICE: It's a QR code ordering system which makes it really easy to order! I really appreciate that they have pictures of their dishes as part of it too. DECOR: I liked that the cutlery was all mismatched, like it had all been thrifted or something! Very quirky and cute PRICE: Decently priced for a brunch place. Grand Pied, French for Big Foot they say, is an interesting find. The space is small and indoor seating is limited with Idaho bar decor and background music that didn't feel like it went with brunch. You order off QR codes at your table and they don't serve alcohol but you are welcome to bring your own. They very much have the attitude of, "this is how we run our business, you can come or not." So how does our journey come to 5 stars? The food is delicious. We had the beignets, gumbo, and grits which were all very good but the show stopper was the pancakes. Some of the best pancakes I've ever had. They're almost funnel cake like in their preparation and go excellent with the jam, butter, or syrup they come with. The pancakes are worth the 5 stars by themselves and that's not just me saying that. There were people coming in alone to sit at the bar to get their pancake fix. If it is nice out they also had outdoor seating but were full when we got there. Make a reservation unless you want to sit at the bar. Get the pancakes! read more

This used to be my absolute favorite brunch spot in St. Louis. The homey vibe, complete with cute knickknacks and mismatched plates, makes you feel like you've stepped into someone's cozy kitchen. The fried chicken sandwich, burger, and breakfast potatoes are to die for. But what really won me over were the brown sugar cold brews and chai lattes served in the most adorable mason jars. Unfortunately, on our last visit, it was clear the recipe had changed--and sadly, the drinks that once brought me back again and again just didn't taste the same. I wouldn't order them again. That said, everything else was still spot on, and the charm of the place remains! read more

Still the best pancakes in the city. You wouldn't think so, but this a family fav for going with our 5yo. It's cramped but if you get your kid to sit, it's a good family dining experience, this is especially the case when weather allows outdoor seating. I love restaurants that I never have to worry that the food quality varies, they are always serving delicious, high quality food. Another thing that's never a worry is the experience with servers. They are always the kindest, friendliest folks working here. They might forget to refill water for a sec, but they'll make their way over. read more

Grand Pied was my first stop in St. Louis after picking up our rental car and driving over from the airport. We came right around noon and the wait for a table was about an hour. I really like that the online waitlist keeps track of how many parties are ahead of you as well as wait-times. While you're waiting, definitely head over to the liquor store down the street and pick up some booze as its BYOB. The most popular combo seemed to be bringing your own bottle of champagne and either bringing along a jug of orange juice, or ordering a carafe of orange juice at the restaurant. By the time we were finally seated, everyone was starving. We each ordered our own entrees and shared a platter of three of their pancakes. I got the Hot Honey Fried Chicken plate which came with two pieces of chicken thighs. While the chicken was not the juiciest piece of chicken I've ever had, I really enjoyed the outside coating on the chicken which was perfectly fried and had just the right balance of sweet and savory. The pancakes that were shared are next level. Never in my life have I had pancakes this fluffy before. I really loved the whipped cream that comes with the stack of pancakes and would recommending smothering that on along with the jam. Service here is top-notch as well. If you only have one opportunity for brunch, you must try out Grand Pied. Definitely order the beignets if you're able to get them because they sold out when we tried to order them later in the day close to closing. read more

About three weeks ago, I attempted to visit this establishment after hearing wonderful reviews about their pancakes. Having recently moved back to St. Louis about six months ago, I was genuinely looking forward to the experience. When my partner and I arrived, we were told there was a 30-minute wait. We were given two options: wait 30 minutes or sit at the bar. I politely asked if we could wait at the bar until a table was ready and was told "no -- it's either one or the other." Although I felt some discomfort in that moment, we agreed to sit at the bar. The space was small and crowded, and the bartender seemed to notice that we were uncomfortable. She mentioned that there was an empty table and offered to seat us, which then led to a visible disagreement between her and the manager. At that point, we had not ordered anything and chose to leave. Weeks later, my partner encouraged me to give them another try by placing an online order instead. When ordering, the description clearly stated "and/or queso and gravy." I selected "add queso" to specify my choice. I attempted to call the number listed online to clarify the note and inform them we were on the way, but the listed number appeared to be a personal cell phone and no one answered. Upon arrival, our food was sitting at the bar. We waited until the same owner/manager from our previous visit approached us as the receipt was visible, and I seen my name She asked, "Is that your order?" -- despite there not appearing to be multiple orders present -- I replied yes her response was oh I need to double check. Before leaving, we checked the bag and noticed gravy and queso had been placed on the fries instead of just queso. I politely returned to the counter and explained that I had ordered fries with cheese only and asked if they could quickly remake them. I was immediately told "no" and that I had received what I ordered as she aggressively pointed to the receipt . I calmly explained that we do not eat MEAT (gray contain ham andouille and bacon) and reiterated what my order specified. Her tone became increasingly dismissive and rude. When I asked for a refund, that request was also refused. After my partner intervened due to the escalating tone and unprofessional behavior, and the cook stepping from the back she finally agreed to have the fries remade -- which is all I had initially requested to begin with However, her demeanor remained cold and combative. Each time I attempted to explain that I had tried calling ahead, she insisted they "don't have a phone," despite the number being publicly listed is the one I called. I have never experienced treatment like this at a restaurant. On both occasions, the interaction left me feeling unwelcome and deeply uncomfortable. The hostility, defensiveness, and dismissiveness directed toward me felt troubling but just let me know that bias and prejudice can still surface and some people just can't hide it. As we were leaving -- after the entire confrontation had been witnessed by other patrons -- she loudly said, "Thank you, you're welcome," which felt disingenuous given the prior interaction. Unfortunately, due to these experiences, I will not be returning. Especially when this type of behavior is coming from the owner, who should know that respectful customer service and basic courtesy should not be conditional. read more

$17 dollars for a chicken nugget sized chicken sandwich. So very disappointed. The hot honey sauce was yummy but my intelligence felt offended tbh. It felt like a joke. Cut my sandwich in half so I could eat it and took this pic for yall to see. And my cousin ordered the same hot chx sandwich and hers too was chicken finger sized. Two times isn't a mess up... that's their portion size. Chicken is not that expensive. 2.99 pound at schnucks. Service was alright but no one asked how our food was. So I did not get a chance to voice my concern in house. Another cute interior, hip stl restaurant, with a pricey menu -but I expect a 17$ to be a large chicken breast or multiple chicken tenders that are falling out the bun. This piece of chicken was best suited for a Hawaii roll. And I would've been less offended if it was on a Hawaiian roll so atleast the chicken to bread ratio would optically look right. I woke up craving pancakes and my husband found a post about Grand Pied having the best in the city. I had never heard of it but the reviews were good so we got on the waitlist (clutch) and headed down. The second we walked in, Knuck if You Buck was BLASTING and I knew we were in for a treat. I got the pancakes and my husband got a sandwich with potatoes and a side of grits. Now, these pancakes are absolutely ridiculous. They're thick as hell (maybe 3/4 thick) and are lightly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the butter and syrup just make them the perfect bite. Like when you have a grilled cheese that's the perfect combo of salty/greasy/soft/crispy/melty, but sweet. The grits were also amazing and the potatoes were perfectly crispy and topped with fresh herbs which really elevated a simple side to the next level. Bonus: They have a sort of hot sauce "library" with probably 15 different hot sauces you can try as you please.
