3/5 for Honey Bee's. I don't like writing totally negative reviews, because people's livelihoods, time, and effort are behind every plate. So this is an honest middle rating with room for inspiration. What I loved: The spicy chicken chorizo sausage had a nice kick of flavor, and the gravy was a hit. It's a neat spot to visit in Kirkwood. What fell short: I noticed some of the sandwiches looked precooked and that made me kinda sad. The biscuit was a little dry, and I wish it were softer. It needed something extra, like a sauce or some flair. That made me sad, because I really wanted to love this place. I'd love to see either a signature sauce on every sandwich or a small gravy portion you can pour over it. We got the big bowl for $5 and ended up wasting a lot of it. Not pictured: The salty sweet latte. It was okay, just not memorable. Overall I love the concept and idea and if your looking for a fun place in Kirkwood maybe give it a try and see how you like it. read more

This was a darling spot in Kirkwood, and the owner was super welcoming and friendly! There is a shared parking area in the back for you and I think street parking nearby. It was warm when we got there, so we opted to sit inside but there is a lot of seating outside. Although the menu isn't huge, everything sounded so good and I really gravitated to their berry cold brew, BEC on honey biscuit, and a cinnamon roll biscuit. My husband ordered their sausage, egg, and cheese and a hashbrown for our toddler. Everything was pretty good and it's heavy! So its good if you need a big breakfast for on the go. So on Labor day the very lovely Red and I decided to try this fabulous little gem located in the heart of kirkwood. I have to say their biscuits are damn good. We both had a sausage and egg biscuit and i a coffee and Red a iced latte. The food was delicious and the staff awesome ! This was a nice, quick breakfast. I ordered the french toast biscuit, pork sausage and a hashbrown. The biscuit was gooooddd! Perfect amount of fruit topping and the biscuit itself is buttery and fluffy. I enjoyed the sausage and the seasoning on the hashbrown is great. The price of the hashbrown is too high for a frozen, triangle shaped potato. ($2.50). Can't remember the price of the sausage but yeah. I do want to tell you that the "egg"placed on the biscuits is a bit strange in that it is a solid piece of egg that is white and peppery with the consistency of a hard custard. Actually I'm not sure of the egg's origin other than it was likely created by a chicken. The dish cried out for fried eggs but they aren't available. The sausage on the biscuit was first class. Nicely fried, mildly spiced and tasted great. Coffee was and basic diner style. Super friendly behind the counter. Parking on nearby streets is convenient and easy. This is not your ordinary biscuit joint! Me and my taste buds were thoroughly surprised upon taking that first bite, it was super soft and fluffy. The peaches and creme on top was a but too sweet for me, but I'd still eat a second and third one lol The manager was really friendly and made sure I was able to get my order even when they had to close early. read more

Walked in and the guy at the counter was so joyful and silly, it made my whole morning. He was sing song "thank you for coming today" to everyone. The food was amazing! Honey bees is a great restaurant for brunch in Kirkwood. It has lots of outdoor seating options and the rather long line moves quickly. I stopped by recently and got the pumpkin special which was delicious and came out quick. The last time I went I got the biscuit and gravy and it was a little on the salty side so I stuck to sweet this visit. My daughter got a honey butter biscuit and a side of bacon. They have some creative flavors for their coffee but the lattes aren't my favorite...although it hasn't deterred me from continuing to order them. I've been here numerous times. The first time I tried it was when they first opened and it was great. Both the service and food have slowly gone down hill. The biscuits have become dry and hard, even at 7am when they are fresh. My order comes out wrong most of the time. The food tasted great! I got the breakfast burrito and obviously couldn't wait for one picture before I took a bite. I have a fairly larger than normal appetite and still this burrito filled me up! I got a biscuit as well and had a bite of their sausage and so as far as the food taste it was great! Their indoor seating is unfortunately extremely small but if you go during a time of the year it feels great outside they have plenty of room. I decided to come here on a Saturday morning to get a fresh biscuit. I was able to find some street parking, but there is a large public parking lot behind the store with available spots. It is a small restaurant with seating both indoors and outdoors. The inside tables are very limited and fill up quickly. I ended up finding more open tables outside. I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich, a blueberry biscuit, and the Bee Kind (iced vanilla coffee). All of the staff were very nice and respectful. The wait time for my food was under 10 minutes. The coffee was good, a basic vanilla coffee. The sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit was my favorite thing I ate. The sandwich was warm, full of flavor, and filling. The biscuit did fall apart as I was eating it, but it was still good. The blueberry biscuit is what I won't order again. The biscuit was clearly overcooked, hard, and dry. It had a nice blueberry flavor, but I prefer my biscuits to be softer and flakier. I hadn't been here before until my friend recommended it but it was a good place to catch up. I got the biscuit sandwhich with egg, cheese and sausage, and my friend got the biscuit and jam. Both were pretty solid, the only reason I rated it 4/5 is because I do think there are better spots if you're looking for biscuit meals that being said it still was delicious. I also got a peach sweet tea, which was actually my favorite thing because their base sweet tea is really good and done right not watered down or only midly sweet. Always threading the needle of trying to find a spot with good coffee, food options, and Wi-Fi when I travel and this spot was A-OK in all those regards. I have to say, I can see the vision -- on a nice, sunny, warm day, this gigantic patio is like a front porch to downtown Kirkwood and I'm sure the vibes are immaculate. I was committed because I had a call, but I wouldn't go out of my way to work here. I ordered a egg and cheese breakfast sandwich and vanilla latte -- both were ready quick and the sandwich was really tasty. Hit the spot and filled me up for a long time afterward. The latte tasted very sweet and wasn't my thing so I swapped it for a cold brew which was good as well.
