    French toast
    Debra A.

My son is home for the holidays and we decided to have lunch here. I called before arriving because it's Xmas Eve and most places were closed today. The person who answered the phone was very nice and friendly and told us to come on in there no wait at this time. We were greeted at the door and seated promptly! I ordered the French toast and my son ordered the shrimp and grits. We both enjoyed our food and great conversation! The playlist was jamming! The decor is so cute and ecstatically pleasing!

Egg tops the charts for all things brunch in stl! I truly have never had anything here that I didn't like. The rest of STL definitely feels the same because it's never not busy here! I came with a large group right when they opened, and we were seated quickly! Dodging the wait is the way to go. They have a variety of drinks for brunch (alcoholic and non) as well as a large variety of food options- there is something for everyone. Today I went with a mimosa and the el cerdo hash which is amazing. It has the right amount of spice and is so filling. Always a pleasure, egg!

Street parking. Not bad for a Sunday brunch time. Used yelp waitlist but I'm not sure that was used. After a few minutes of waiting we were promptly seated. Service was good. Everyone was super friendly. Restaurant is smaller in size and tables are fairly close. There is also bar seating. Got the traditional breakfast and it was well done. One would expect it but that's not always the case. Eggs came out perfect. Potatoes were crispy and not dry. The bread was crispy yet soft. The sausage was well cooked, slightly bland for my taste. Overall it was a great breakfast and I can't wait to return to try the other options.

What a cute little place. I read the reviews on Yelp after my visit and was shocked to learn customer service has been declining. It's a small place and I can tell they could probably use more servers. We waited several minutes to be seated. It also took a while to place our order, however we used that time to talk. Overall, I loved my breakfast tacos! The French toast were pretty good as well. The center of the waffles were just a little doughy to me but I sure ate them. One thing to know about Egg is they offer unique dishes. If you're looking for a standard breakfast, skip this place. It's not for you.

Beautiful atmosphere and decor. Food was delicious and the alcohol isn't too bad. The waitress was very nice despite me being ditsy. Food didn't take very long. The prices are fine, wish they had a happy hour during the weekend but that's trivial. Would go back time and time again.

I had previously been to the Benton Park Egg location but it has been a couple of years. Stopped in for brunch on a Sunday morning. I ordered a hot tea and the Barbacoa and Grits... Cheesy Stone-Ground Grits, Braised Beef & 2 Eggs Over Easy. This was absolutely delicious. The barbacoa was flavorful and tender. The grits were creamy. The eggs were perfectly cooked. I love this dish. I wish I went out for breakfast more often. My brunch date ordered the breakfast tacos. They looked fine but not as good as mine! Service was not the best but the food made up for it. I will be back!

    CHAKCHOUKA

Love decor and a bigger spot. We had chochuka which is made with semi baked eggs not runny but had a good spice which provided more flavor, tunisian hash and sopa were good with semolina pancakes. The shrimp snd grits were too runny which we didn't prefer. Kid friendly place

Had a great breakfast at Egg before I hit the road out of town! The vibe is cool in the up and coming midtown neighborhood, and the food and coffee both hit the spot. I tried the breakfast tacos, one veggie and one chicken. They were so tasty and had fresh ingredients and were each topped with flavorful salsas. They're gigantic, so I found it easier to eat half with a fork, then fold it up and eat it normally. Coffee was great; I had already caffeinated with espresso, so opted for a latte instead. The tumeric one sounded good, but the server had a sixth sense for my caffeine addiction and warned me it doesn't come with espresso inside. He steered me towards a honey cinnamon one instead that was five stars. It was a mellow weekday morning, so not bustling but also meant the server disappeared for a while. Nothing critical, but we were left waiting for the check so had to get up and ask. Each person that came by was friendly and helpful. All in all, I tried several spots on this block on a quick visit to STL, and Egg is one I'd definitely recommend trying out if you're in the area.

    SMOKED PORK BELLY CORNBREAD BENEDICTS
    Mary Z.

I've never seen eggs Benedict offered on cornbread, so I appreciated the creativity and unique offering. The smoked pork belly was also a delicious treat for brunch and a little bit different than the usual bacon or ham. The ambiance is a modern, trendy brunch space and very nice. Overall I'd definitely come back to Egg for brunch!

Waitlist never moved. I don't think they use it.

We joined the Yelp waitlist earlier today because it wasn't too long. When we got there, I mentioned we were on the waitlist and the guy seemed a little confused. He never really said anything about it, but did seat us within that time frame, so it was no issue. The only reason I mention it is because if you join their waitlist, I think you should also check with them, I don't think they actually participate in the waitlist. When I arrived, I was 10th in line, when I left, I was still 10th in line, and I just removed myself from the waitlist still in 10th spot hours later. So yeah, don't rely on the waitlist. Otherwise, the food and service was good. We had the pork belly cornbread, spinach and avocado, cornbread, and the standard breakfast. We also had an espresso martini and a white Russian. That's the only part that was kind of odd. Our server asked what we wanted in the white Russian. We were quite confused because a white Russian is a traditional drink that the bar should know how to make. It's literally just vodka, Kahlúa and milk. She was asking if we wanted sugar and all kinds of random things in it. When it came out, it was very frothy like they had whipped it or some thing weird and tasted like it had no vodka in it. I did enjoy the espresso martini though. Overall, a pretty salad breakfast place with delicious food and good service!

Amazing food. Great ownership!! So good we had to check out the other location the next morning. The service at both places was stellar. The owners are brothers and are both pretty cool humans. The younger brother served us directly and gave us 2 carnitas gratis. The ambience and the vibe was very cozy and my partner and I felt like primos aqui. Love love it! Best Breakfast! Favorite restaurant in St Louis by far

    EL CERDO HASH

Unique and different flavors from your typical breakfast places. Cool hip decor and great service.

Visited some friends during New Years in St. Louis and this was one of the best places we found during! We walked in and chatted with who we assume was the owner. He was so funny and friendly, and gave us great recommendations based on our personal preferences. We must've just missed the brunch rush because we were able to get seated right away, but he told us they had been slammed all day, and we watched as their tables started to fill up again while we were there. This food was SO GOOD. The kind of food that you eat and makes you want to go take a nap before coming back to try something else. Between my boyfriend and I, we tried a few of the breakfast options and everything continued to impress. We had the CORNBREAD biscuits and gravy, a few breakfast tacos and a pork belly eggs benedict. This was a restaurant we found completely by chance (hehe thank you Yelp) and it is now in our rotation for anytime we're in the STL area.

Comfortable seating out here and the light breeze with the afternoon light was nice as I cranked out a few Yelp reviews before I spotted other customers going inside. After setting up at the huge table in the corner, I stepped up to the bar where I was warmly greeted. I chose their Fish Fry, which they call a light lager. I met here with members of a local running group for one of their periodic pub runs. It was extremely cold when I got there, despite having been nearly 90 degrees out the day before. Several members of our group stood in the doorway, preventing other patrons from entering and exiting. Modern's staff deserves credit for not complaining or forcing them to leave. They may have sensed that this wasn't the local unhoused population. Only employed people run recreationally, despite having relatively little free time. I see this place all the time, from my car on the adjacent highway, on my way back to civilization, but I'd never had the occasion to stop by. Perhaps I'd be a regular if I attended the nearby community college. But if I could afford to eat here, why would I be attending community college? The beer will set you back. I would have been fine with a 32 oz can of Miller High Life, but when in Rome. There's an extensive selection of beers on tap, and probably even more in cans and bottles. I'm no connoisseur, and I don't have that kind of time, so I went with something called Silent Gs, or something to that effect. I justified it, in part, by telling myself that its name is a reference to the Lil Wayne bar adored by people who started listening to rap music in 2003. I paid $7.50-ish for a not particularly large serving, but damn it if it wasn't pretty good. I appreciate it anytime one of these higher gravity pale ales doesn't taste like it was sourced from a trough-style urinal at a circa '83 ballpark. A couple of girls from the aforementioned run group mentioned that this place carries a brussels spouts salad. I don't eat salad, because I'm a guy, but these girls are certified baddies, and I succumbed to the peer pressure. I attempted to mitigate the impact on my reputation by also ordering a slice of pepperoni pizza. I'm gonna have to have a difficult meeting with my accountant, as a result, but it was worth it. The entree serving of the salad would have been enough food, even without the pizza. It's enough vegetables that it's actually kinda obnoxious, like they're trolling you. Who do they think I am, a damn cow? Part of that may have been the brussels sprouts. They help give the salad a surprising heft, for something that doesn't have any meat in it, and help make up for the lack of bacon, which I generally require with brussels sprouts. The candied walnuts, which I thought might be croutons, were another delightful surprise and complemented the tang of the pickled red onions. The pizza came topped with an oddly precise-looking quantity and arrangement of pepperonis, like they might have Russell Crowe from the movie A Beautiful Mind working in the kitchen. It's not like at Domino's, where they just toss them on there and they might not even be on half the pizza. I guess they have to do that when they sell it by the slice. You'd be upset if you didn't get enough of them, because they're delicious. They're the kind that curl up into little cups filled with disgustingly unhealthy and yet delicious oil. I wonder if that's also because they serve it by the slice and hence have to reheat it. That may have resulted in the end of the crust suffering from a bit of Popeyes biscuit-like dryness, but what are you going to do. Then again, that may have been a purposeful attempt to get you to purchase more expensive beer. Everything else here was so well executed, it's hard to imagine this wasn't intentional on their part.

The food- 3 of 4 of us said it was just ok. The other really liked theirs. We had 2 different pastas & 2 different sandwiches. Calabrian carbonara & citrus fettuccine. They were both kinda bland & not much flavor. Large portions. Wagyu reuben & smoked french. The reuben was a hit. The smoked french was too smoky. We had the pumpkin ricotta appetizer. It was pretty tasty. And the caesar was a large portion & decent flavor.
