I stopped in for brunch after my visit to the Tower Grove Farmers Market, I wasn't sure I was dressed for it but they said no worries and asked my seating preference. I opted for the bar. Later I did see other guests arrive that were not fancy either, so I felt better. You could be fancy and fit right in, though. Angela was my server at the bar and she was top notch! Giving me time to review the menu but also jumping in to answer questions. I wanted to try a drink and the cocktails look amazing so I will have to come back to try a couple, they had a list of Spirit Free and I went with the Stappi Spritz. It was bright and refreshing with a bit of bitter and I really enjoyed it. So many food options looked good, I took a bit to decide and then went with the Starter of Oeufs et Mayo and would go from there. When it arrived I felt it looked like a dish on a cooking competition show - it was so pretty. Angela indicated a great way to eat it was to get a scoop of everything and put it on the LF grilled bread and that is what I did! So very good! All the flavors went well together, the burst of salty goodness from the trout roe and the grilled bread, fantastic. Even with so many other Plates to try, I will have a hard time not ordering those jammy eggs again. Extras included Crispy Fingerling Potatoes fried with rosemary and served with romesco aioli, they were good and a large enough serving to share. The rosemary is definitely part of the dish but I ordered with the knowledge that I now like rosemary. I also wanted to try the Sage and Fennel Sausage, they were in patty form and the order came with 2 and they were large. It was decent, I wanted more sage and fennel for my taste. We chose Little Fox for our anniversary dinner this year and it was a great choice! Service was great and the interior was lovely. We ordered five small plates and all were very nicely executed. -scallops: While these were good, they were my least favorite of the bunch. They were tender and the sauce was nice, but they were a tad small only came with three. For the price, I thought other dishes were more hearty. -mussels: They were cooked perfectly and had a savory broth that was great to dip the grilled bread in. -Royal trumpet mushrooms: These were recommended by our server and they were great. The combo of the rich soubise with the vinaigrette gave them a good flavor punch. -short ribs: We both loved the sweet and spicy sauce on the short ribs. The short ribs were thinly sliced and tender. Very tasty. -Cavatelli: This was the standout dish of the night for us. The handmade pasta and summer vegetables were so fresh and had such great flavor. Basically summer in a bowl and a generous portion size. We are both big eaters and 5 small plates felt like a good amount with no leftovers to take home. I will say the tables inside are very close together. So much so that I felt like I was in our neighbor's conversation and it was difficult to hear our own conversation. Every dish we've had at Little Fox has been a treat! The service is always attentive, and welcoming. It's a great spot for a small group gathering or a date night. Highly recommend making reservation in advance! This visit, we ordered some of our favorites: the trumpet Mushrooms, mussels, and deep-fried artichokes. Everything was delicious, although the artichokes were a touch too salty this time. It was also our first time trying the wild blueberry crumble cake, and we absolutely loved it! We have been to Little Fox twice and it's an amazing experience every time so far! Lovely space for a date night! The proteins are phenomenally seasoned and cooked to perfection and paired with the right sides to really enhance the flavor of, in our case, duck and steak. I am a potato enthusiast and their fingerling potatoes are seasoned and cooked perfectly. The steak has a wonderful shaved salt on top and incredible crust. Amazing steak. No notes. The cocktails are perfect. Several unique cocktails well-balanced. The service is exceptional and they are very knowledgeable about gluten that made me feel very safe! Yet another restaurant that surprised me in St. Louis. They have good food here. Like, foodie food. So my next dinner lead me to Little Fox. A small plates restaurant that felt a little Italian. We make reservations and show up to this place that looks like a neighborhood pub. Quaint, in the corner, inviting light shining through medium sized windows. Inside, the vibes were a hybrid of someone's very nice dining room and an old western saloon. I know that's almost nonsensical, but the vibes were good. We felt right at home. Service was spot on. The server was very nice and new the menu pretty well. The food came out tapas style, so when something was ready, it just came right out. I like that. I like the periods where there are so many plates on the table at one time that it's overwhelming. What's what eating is all about. As for the food itself, it was good. I'll give a little blurb on each thing, as not to wear out your eyeballs. Crispy Artichokes (sauce au vert​). These were fun and nice and crispy. Don't see artichokes like these very often. The sauce was a little weak, though. Didn't exactly go well with these fried little morsels. 'Nduja Croquetas (bomba rice, spicy prosciutto, fontina, grenada pepper aioli). Wow, now these little flavor bombs cannot be missed. Spicy sausage arancinis with a nice peppery aioli to dip. An intensely flavorful little dish that I loved. Can't find it on the menu, maybe it was seasonal, maybe it was a special, but we had a bone marrow French onion soup that was nice. The soup was good good. Very well developed flavors. The marrow bone was a little sloppy, though, and we got a transverse cut of bone, leaving very little marrow to access. Next were the Mussels (green garlic broth, Spanish vermouth, pickled peppers, spring onions, grilled LF bread). Very well cooked mussels, sitting in a lovely broth to dip your bread in. Ask for extra bread. But do not ask for extra of that sauce. That was really bad sauce. Sauce work seems to be this place's only weak point. Probably the biggest dish of the night, the Bolognese Bianco (Newman Farms pork & mushroom bolognese, bucatini, gremolata, parmigiano reggiano). This was a really nice pasta dish! Love those big, thicc bucatini noodles. Flavorful bolognese, great texture from the gremolata, and just cheesy enough to make this probably the most complete dish of the night. Then finally the Sea Scallops (ramp soubise, morel mushrooms, house-cured pancetta). Scallops were scored and cooked to look like fine art. Light scallops paired with nice umami from the morels and the pancetta, all tied together by that nice soubise. You don't see that very often either. We ended the meal with a Sticky Toffee Pudding (apple & date cake, apple brandy toffee, crème chantilly, marcona almond tuile). Chef's kiss. Such a delicate sponge with a nice date flavor. Then boom, the sweet boozy toffee, the creamy chantilly, the texture from the tuile. Every element helped make this a great dessert to end a great meal. Overall, another very pleasant surprise. Get a reservation or get there early. I had a BEAUTIFUL Sunday morning here. I checked the reservation online and they had a 10 AM opening and a line before they were even open. We sat outside , our server was wonderful and they were so helpful and accommodating. First I ordered the Dive Bar Coffee which just wasn't for me so i got the Dottie (with the good crunchy ice) instead and it was wonderful! (They even took the first one off and i didn't even ask, thoughtful. ) Food was delicious. My Hashbrown was delicious and crispy and seasoned and mm. And the salmon was yummy. My date got the baked eggs and loved it as well (they make their bread so will be back just to have bread). We also got the ButterScotch Budino for dessert. As someone who isn't a fan of pudding , this was goooooood. Salty, sweet and crumbling that cookie into it (per their suggestion), worth it. Pros: Ambiance was so quaint. It felt like it was a neighborhood corner bodega, but with a refined elegance. Very cozy. Service was A+. Very nice people who knew the menu very well, and the food came out at lightning speed. The food was so good, too. An eclectic, semi-Italian tapas menu with some real bangers on it. Lots of great sauce work, too. Cons: No real cons. Whatever spread that was on the bread with the mussels was absolutely terrible, so avoid that if you can. But everything else was great! Met up with some friends and finally had the chance to check out Little Fox, a spot that had been on my list for quite some time. It definitely lived up to the anticipation. We started with a few expertly crafted cocktails and browsed their impressive beer and wine list. Their orange wine selection may be the largest I've ever seen, very unique and a great option if you're looking to try something different. The menu offers a nice mix of shareable small plates and larger entrées, and honestly, everything sounded tempting. We decided to share several dishes, including the Royal Trumpet Mushrooms, Beef Short Ribs, Crispy Artichokes, and the Stracciatella. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. If I had to choose a favorite, it would easily be the Royal Trumpet Mushrooms. They were incredibly savory with a rich, almost meaty flavor that made them the standout of the evening. The service was warm, attentive, and welcoming, and the restaurant has a cozy neighborhood atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and enjoy the evening. I thought I would have trouble getting in on a Friday night as they didn't have any open reservations on Resy. But I was able to walk in and sit at the bar at 630 on a Friday night (and there were other open seats too). They seem to change their cocktail menu seasonally which is very cool. I got one that was a spin on an Arnold Palmer, was excellent. Mushrooms 10/5 ate the whole thing as a party of 1 Cavatelli 3/5 I wish the pasta was just slightly more al dente. Oh my. We had a horrible experience at Little Fox tonight. First, our initial drinks took 35 minutes and 2 of them were made incorrectly. Second, our appetizers came out after our salads. It took 30 minutes for the appetizers. Thirdly, we had two ladies celebrating their birthdays and Little Fox did NOTHING for them. Finally, we asked for Take Home boxes and they never brought them. No one ever apologized for the atrocious service. I don't know what has happened there, but I can no longer recommend the place. read more

Little Fox is a VIBE. If you're looking for an elevated, memorable experience, I highly recommend checking them out. I sat on the patio on a nice summer evening and it was lovely. I started with the stracciatella which was delicious. The pickled corn and delicious bread really brought it all together. It was very fresh and tasty. The garganelli was insane. The pasta is freshly made and there's just enough meat in it to make it hearty but not overfilling. The presentation and taste was so good. I have been meaning to stop in forever! And I finally made it. We didn't have a reservation, but we ran in on a Saturday right when they opened at 5 PM and were lucky enough to be able to get a seat. But I would definitely recommend making a reservation. Because within about 30 minutes, the place was full, and for good reason! The cocktails are amazing, and the food is even better. Not to mention the staff is awesome and knows everything about every dish. They were great with the recommendations. The "decisions, decisions" was the cocktail I got. A vodka-based cocktail that's spicy? Sign me up! Amazing. And the crispy squash? I was on the fence... But don't be. OMG it is so good. I could eat that every day. Absolutely delicious. Order it! We also ordered the Stracciatella which was yummy. It came with some toasted bread that just had the best smoky flavor. As my meal, I got the cavatelli and my friend got the gem salad. Yum Yum Yum. We really wanted to get the potato churros and short ribs but we knew we would not be able to eat everything! However, the table next to us got them and said they were amazing! I personally love appetizers and dessert the best out of every meal and this style made me have the best of all worlds! The space? Adorable! Food and drinks? Delicious! Service? The best you could ask for! This sums up my first visit to Little Fox. We were able to snag a reservation with no problem on the day of, and as tempting as it was to sit in the cute outdoor patio, 85°F weather made us decide to sit indoors. The wooden accents with a bit of beautiful blue color and plants gave the space a cute and cozy vibe. The server introduced himself soon after we sat down and was very understanding of our need to eat quickly for post-dinner plans. He even helped us choose our food as we wanted to try sharing 3-4 small plates between two people. We ended up ordering two mocktails and the 'Nduja Croquetta, Summer Squash Salad, Short Rib, and Royal Trumpet Mushrooms. The Croquettas were a deliciously carb-y start to our meal with cheesy rice with crispy breading on the outside. Squash Salad was very refreshing and light and the Short Ribs were very hearty and complex, all the while being very tender. Royal Trumpet Mushrooms were good, but my friend noticed that unlike the last time she had visited, when the dish only had trumpet mushrooms, this time it was half trumpet and half button mushrooms. As for the mocktails, I was really hoping for the cute fox ear decor on top, but alas, I guess it was only for the "real" cocktails. We ordered a Sober Poet and Lower Canopy and both were delicious. If I had to choose, I felt that Lower Canopy was a better-balanced drink though. Although I was originally concerned about both the timing of the meal (we only had 45 minutes from walking in) and the portion sizes, we left right on time and were satisfied with the amount of food shared. Lovely place for a date night. The ambience is good and the menu is large and interesting. For 2 people, this is what we shared: -Her Name was Lola Cocktail: 7/10 - Nice sweetness but had a good bitterness. You do get a dry aftertaste from the liquor. -Potato churros: 9/10 - SO light, so crispy, so rich. The sauce that you dip them in is a lovely thick aioli. These were addictive. -Braised Ribs: 8.5/10 - I liked how flavorful the braise and sauce was, but I do wish the ribs had been a bit thicker and perhaps a bit moister. They were by no means chewy but I did wish it was more "melt-in-your-mouth." -Flatiron Steak: 6/10 - Got this rare. Not the best steak I've had, and came kind of lukewarm. The crispy potatoes are exquisite, though. -Garganelli: 9/10 - The butter sauce was delectable, and the pork was just so rich and tender. Back for brunch with friends and it did not disappoint. We started with a coffee tonic and a few libations. The mezcal Bloody Mary was a popular choice and a total flavor bomb. The Good Morning Manhattan was a perfectly balanced cocktail and comes highly recommended by my husband. They also have an excellent wine selection. The French toast sticks were an easy, shareable win, and every entrée was beautifully plated and delicious. I ordered the delicata squash Benedict and was completely blown away. Between the crispy fry on the squash and the rich sage hollandaise, it was delightful. The rest of our group had the roast beef, steak and eggs, and the Spam breakfast sandwich. While the menu is relatively approachable and the drinks try to pair well with the food. The experience was a bit underwhelming. Curiously enough, the churros were under fried while the artichoke hearts carried more fry than flavor. I think more than anything was how exhausting long the service took. We spent more time waiting for anything to hit the table than actually eating. I made a reservation online without issue and debated between indoor or outdoor - did outdoor, but then the weather was supposed to be bad so I switched to indoor. Indoor was great, but outdoor is set up perfect for most inclement weather. The staff was helpful in giving recommendations on items to order and how much to order and they were right. We didn't leave a single bite uneaten! We ordered a variety of dishes and each one was so good. This was my first time at Little Fox and wow! Truly everything we ordered was phenomenal, legitimately the best brunch I've had in St. Louis to date, especially as a vegetarian. I started with the iced matcha late which was very smooth, light and creamy. We got the fluffy, flavorful ricotta pancakes to start and our server lit a couple candles as we were celebrating two birthdays. For my plate, I got the squash benedict and it was the perfect fall benedict! The acorn squash had a great crunch, the sage hollandaise was so flavorful, and the light arugula salad was a great balance. Cavatelli: probably my favorite dish, rich without being too heavy handed on the cream, with a nutty topping that balanced it out well. Trumpet mushrooms: great texture, not oily, perfect preparation. Short ribs: good flavor, smallish portion, nice flavor to sauce. Good texture. Snack cannellini beans--great crunch and the perfect starter. Straciatella: pretty good but nothing exceptional, probably my least favorite dish Wine: tropical nosed sparkler from Italy. If the sauce that enhances the flavor of the food is the key to the dish, servers remove it before asking if you are finished. Asking for an olive in your martini cost $3! I hate to write a bad review but this restaurant completely missed the mark for me. I had high hopes and was very disappointed. Cocktails and wine (Pinot Noir) were good. I ordered the pork chop and the pork chop was 1) undercooked 2) cold and 3) lacking flavor. The polenta was also grainy and not very creamy. The server even recommended it! Very sad for $41. Others at my table got the beet salad which she said had too much mayo and the cavatelli was saturated in butter. This may have just been an off night but with there being so many great restaurants in STL this is not one I will visit again - Sorry! read more
