Good neighborhood wine bar that is worth at trip from various parts of the metro area! I visited 'ssippi with my friends a couple of months ago on an overcast June day. Then I remembered that I had visited it during a festival (print bazaar, perhaps, or Cherokee Caravan?). It somewhat reminded me of a lovely bar in Rome (Astemio), though it is also quite different. Plenty of wine variety here, and staff know the list pretty well. I had orange wine for at least one of my drinks. Can't remember what the 2nd drink was... maybe it was the other orange wine? Or a white. We sat out back so we could talk without echoes/as much noise distraction and eat macadamia nuts that I'd brought. read more

Love 'ssippi! It's such a good spot if you are looking to sit outside and drink some wine! The outside area is dog friendly, which we love! I don't get down to Cherokee Street that much so a lot of new places come and go without me knowing about it. 'ssippi is a new(ish) wine bar set towards the western end of the collection of bars, restaurants, and shops that are the heart of the strip. The inside has a large wrap about bar and some limited seating. There is a very good selection of wine and mixed drinks and an okay selection of beer. The prices are reasonable. There is a very limited food menu which largely consists of snacks rather than proper entrees. So this is a great pre/post drink spot rather than somewhere you would spend an evening. The bartenders were fine. Nothing stood out either in a good or bad way. The mixed drink my wife had was very good. The orange wine I had was good, a bit on the dry side but overall no complaints from either of us. Without a highlight of the spot is the large patio. It is mostly taken up by large bench style seating. So you have to be okay sitting next to strangers. I actually enjoy these types of settings and I ended up chatting up the group to our right. There are a couple tables but they are few and far between. There are some overhead canopies and lights, and there was a nice vibe and energy. I was there and it was crowded. I really enjoyed it. Just two additional things to note. The bathroom line was very long. It must only be one stall. The entire time I was there it was a dozen people deep. The only other downside is that my wife and I felt old. The vibe on a late(ish) Saturday night was mainly 20 year olds. If I was in grad school or a recent graduate I would absolutely adore this place. Even if your 30s this probably is a good vibe. We had a great time at 'Ssippi! There are a lot of natural wine options, along with cocktails and beer. The star of the show is their outdoor patio area. There were quite a few big groups when we visited so we sat inside for our first drink and waited for an outside table to open up. It's modern but cozy with mood lighting appropriate for a deep convo with friends (which is my primary activity here. Then, the service: the bartenders are kind, patient, and happy to help you pick out the right drink for you, which is important at a natural wine bar where the wines don't sound all that familiar. I also love that they have fun cocktails and wine spritzers for those that aren't feeling or aren't yet comfortable with natural wine spritzers. Went here Friday afternoon with a friend. The place was really cute and quaint. Only complaint was that it was cold in there! The person at the bar was super helpful in helping me and my friend decide what we wanted to drink. I had 2 different glasses of red wine, wish I could remember what they were but both were good. Parking was pretty easy and this place was pretty easy to find! There is not a big menu but there are some snacks available if you need something to munch on with your drinks. My hubs and I went last night, and I'd highly recommend. It's a younger crowd (i.e., 20s and 30s folks), but even in our (VERY EARLY ) 40s, we felt totally at home. This was primarily due to the women behind the bar, Kathleen and Jordan. Greeted everyone with a smile, kind as the day is long, never once appearing overwhelmed or out of their element, and just damn good at what they do--these young women MADE the experience. The interior is adorable, full of red neon from the exterior sign, and the aesthetic and decor are gorgeous and very tastefully done. Even the bathroom was spotlessly clean and beautiful, despite a good crowd our back in their huge patio area. The wine and beer-on-tap assortment were quite good and very reasonably priced--Delirium Tremens on tap!--and the snacks were the most pleasant surprise. Get the Union Loafers bread, served warm with Partanna olive oil and balsamic vinegar. At $6, it was a bargain and just delightful. You gotta check this place out! read more

Cool vibes and was super stoked to check out this place. Unfortunately didn't have a good experience with service. Met up with two friends who sat at the bar. I sat there for over 20 min without anyone approaching me for me to order a drink. My friends then finished their glass of wine and nobody approached them as well. Eventually had to be the ones to get their attention to get served. There was also no toilet paper in the bathroom. Hopefully next visit will be a better experience as I have no complaints about this bars products served. read more

First time a Ssippi, came with a group of friends. The inside is a bit tight, but nice and has a very somber and chill ambiance to it. It gives you (at least in my opinion) a feel of an intimate setting for close friends to chat or a date night. The back patio is spacious with heaters and fire pit! Went here after an earlier engagement. I was worried that I was going to feel like a sore thumb because we walked in with some much younger people, but I didn't. The crowd is totally mixed. Everyone is welcome, and you really feel that. The bartenders were really laid back and always knew who was next to be served, which I liked a lot. The music was good. Not overpowering. I could hear my friend and I talking perfectly. The seating was comfy. We didn't go outside to the patio because we had a great seat inside, but... next time. We had parmesan crisps and the house white. The parmesan crisps were a little pricey because other than and 4 solid crisps, the rest were crumbs and difficult to eat. Speaking of price... they are cashless. A lot of places are going that route but I always liked typing with cash. Anywho, I also had a Kalimotxo because "why not."
