Stopped into the Saturn Lounge and instantly loved the vibe. This place has such a chill, laid-back feel that makes it easy to settle in and stay awhile. The cocktail list is solid, and the beer selection is seriously impressive, packed with a great mix of local breweries and unique options. There's also a nice outdoor seating area, but honestly, the magic of this spot is at the bar. The atmosphere there really brings everything together. One of the coolest touches is the large display of vinyl records, it adds a ton of character and gives the whole place a unique, almost nostalgic energy. We didn't try the food this time since we just stopped in for drinks, but it's definitely on the list for next visit. Looking forward to coming back and spending more time enjoying this gem of a spot. read more

It's a very cool lounge. 2 rooms. Records on the wall. Very brown and dark with records on the wall and music playing. Order at the bar. This is not my favorite. But the bartender was quick and the food, mac and cheese, came out in no time. The winter sangria was a serious drink. Not a punchy, fruity sangria. This was a winey sangria. It was a pretty serious drink. I'd probably get a weaker, sweeter drink next time, because that is my taste. The mac and cheese was pretty good. Quite hot! It came packed in this little bowl. The Saturn Lounge is an upscale neighborhood dive bar. Can a dive bar be upscale? It can be if it's a bar like, The Saturn Lounge. It was my first visit to, TSL and I was impressed. I was in need of killing time before a crochet lesson down the street and I thought enjoying a cocktail was a good idea. I was able to get a seat at the bar and immediately starting reading the menu of their signature cocktails. I went with, Sign Painter. It was served in a fluted glass and was made with rye whiskey. I'm a big fan of rye and I found this drink very refreshing. I am a cocktail snob, I enjoy a well made cocktail. Being a snob, I want a mixologist that prepares a masterful cocktail. Enjoying my cocktail and watching the gentleman working behind the bar, I can honestly say, he is a masterful bartender. This visit, I did not order any food items. However, seeing the food severed around me, I'll definitely be back to enjoy to enjoy some Crab Stuffed Mushrooms or a Crab Cake Sandwich. The inside of the bar is compact. In addition to the bar sitting, there's a row of booths along the wall. Beyond the barroom, is a backroom that's is pretty comfy and classy, too. In front of the building is a welcoming patio, that I'll be back to check out in better weather. After just one visit, I know I'll be back. If I still lived in STL, I'd probably be a regular. I've been wanting to check this place out for a while. First, the enchanting patio invites you into a place filled with delicious, affordable food and drinks. Lots of outdoor seating under lovely string lights, perfect for a St. Louis summer evening. You order drinks and food at the bar, which could be cumbersome during busy times. We had the pastrami poutine, mac and cheese and sliced steak sandwich which came with fries. Washed it down with 5 dollar Tiny Bomb Pilsners. I tell you, this food was so good and fresh. Not way overpriced liked many places these days. The small bites felt like reasonably sized bites and were definitely filling. Great ambiance, fantastic food and some unique beer on tap. We had a Blood Orange Wheat from Firestone Walker. I look forward to returning. read more

This place was amazing! I came here for a colleagues going away party and couldn't have been more impressed. Although quaint, it's got decent space in the back and a few booths in the front. We started early at 4:30 and watched it quickly fill over time. To start, I got the bolero, which consists of pineapple jalapeño tequila, mezcal, cilantro liqueur and pineapple. The taste was unique in that it had a hint of sweetness but had the jalapeño come through with a little kick. The mezcal was a nice touch. I then decided to get a couple bites and opted for the Brussel sprouts and hummus. The Brussell sprouts were just as I had hoped: crispy with a nice char, flavored with bacon and some type of cherry. The hummus was absolutely delicious and well seasoned. I love the ambiance and vibes this place has to offer and I can't wait to come back and try more drinks/food. read more

I already loved the Saturn Lounge... then they added FOOD! This really is the best place on Cherokee to get a fine cocktail and a bite to eat. The vibe is welcoming and comfortable, with varied seating options indoors and a lovely patio as well. The music is thoughtfully curated by folks who know what they're doing - owner Doug Morgan is a professional DJ and never fails to make me Shazam what's on the hi-fi. I never get tired of trying something new from the cocktail menu - and the staff is good at recommending drinks if you're not sure what you want. They had some wonderful hot drinks all winter, and a tasty sangria this spring. The food though - wow! The crabcakes are crunchy on the outside, and tender and flavorful on the inside. Tomato soup and toasted cheese were perfect on a chilly day. And the black bean melt is a great vegetarian dish, with a depth of flavor and just a bit of heat. read more

I've been coming here almost since the day they opened, and yet just recently tried the food for the first time. I've always treated this as a place to go for a cocktail or two before going out to dinner. But having finally tried the food, I'll hang out even longer. The cocktails are always great. They have a wide selection of bourbons and other spirits. I always like to test a bar with a common cocktail, like a Manhattan or Old Fashioned, as everyone makes them differently. I've had various luck with the different bartenders and that's the only reason for a slight deduction in stars (if I could give 4 and a half stars, I would). I also was slightly disappointed that they were out of several of the food items that I was placing on ordering. I did get the crab cake sandwich with fries and that was delicious. The bartenders are very knowledgeable. The patio is awesome. And I could get lost for days going through the vinyl and CD collection. I love the mix of music over the great sounding speakers. The food: flavors and textures you will love (we had the New Mexico Poutine; crispy fries and delicious cheese salsa; and the rib eye press and Italian press - great combination of meats and sauces/jus to go with them). I love the vibe of this place. They've done really amazing job getting the "feel" right. The industrial bar back with records and speakers looks simple but good, the trap door behind the bar for the basement access is great for the layout because it kept the basement access from reducing floorspace. The whole place feels great. The booths are comfortable, but the booth back right by the front door moves too much to be considered so. They need to stabilize that booth's backer. Otherwise, just use it as a bench. (I had to put myself in that mindset after the third or fourth time it shifted on me and startled me.) The drinks menu is large with a great selection of NA options. The cocktails menu is short and targeted, but I question many of the choices they made. Of note: The garnish toothpicks are these strange, smooth, triangular plastic affairs, and the glassware style picked for a particular drink is often puzzling. Finally, the cocktails themselves: While I appreciated the drink options they had, the final taste experience left me underwhelmed. There was always something off with each cocktail. The Bolero had a nice start, but became too sweet and had a flat finish on the palate. The Ubiquity was a nice idea, but overwhelming by volume for the cloying sweetness of it. The sign painter had just a tad too much lemon juice in it and was confusingly served in what I think was a champagne glass. I will need to return to try their patio in the warmer months. read more

Ate here recently with some friends on a weekend. The restaurant, for me, fits into the category of if I lived nearby, it would likely be a place I would frequent. That said, the ordering food at the bar was a bit odd, especially when I came to the bar to order, the bartender looked surprised. Why not have an ordering option where you can order directly from the table? All 3 couples who were in our party ordered food at the same time, yet mine was delivered at least 15 min before our other friends received theirs, and another 15 mins before the final couple in our party received theirs. On the plus side, the food was good and the inside is nice, with a nice patio outside. I had the Italian press sandwich and fries. My wife ordered the crab cake sandwich, which she liked, but it tasted a bit burned around the edges to me. Stuffed mushrooms were good also. I didn't order alcohol so I can't comment on the drinks, but our friends seemed pleased with their drink selections. read more
