This place is a great place to get a well balanced drink and catch up, or a date night tbh. Our waitress was so knowledgeable and friendly she truly gave great service. We got a flat bread to share and it was light but a perfect snack to go with drinks. The chocolate chip cookies are also a must get to end the night they are warm, sweet and topped with that flakey sea salt that goes so well with the chocolate. Overall if you're looking for a fancier sitting down bar experience this is it. We made a reservation but it did not seem extremely busy. Parking isn't too bad too; they have a lot but there's parking all around too!

If you like dark, soulful, drinks and conversation... the staff at Prohibition will serve you in classic style. There's no better place to hang out when you just want to sit and relax after a busy day.

I love this place! A true speakeasy with emasculate vibe and decor. The entrance was also hidden so it was fun trying to figure out where to go. Once you enter the Gatsby building, you will go to the basement and there you will find Prohibition. They asked me for the password but I easily found it off the their website. I was so stunned when I first walked in because inside was so beautiful. It was dark and intimate, perfect for a romantic date night. It really set the mood. Their menu is inspired by the famous women of the 1920s. I like that they have a good selection for NA and not just the plain canned drinks. I got the Bronze Venus, highly recommend you order that drink if you want an NA option. I tried the alcoholic cocktail and it was very good as well. Price was very reasonable with specialty cocktails at $17 and mocktails at $12. Make sure you reserve your table in advance online before coming since it might filled up.

Our group of 6 visited on a Friday night, and had a bit of trouble finding the entrance (which I actually appreciated, as it is a speakeasy). The space is sexy and elegant, and the service was incredibly friendly. Our server was very helpful with the menu and recommendations. Their signature cocktails are all fun riffs on classic cocktails. Besides that, they also offer beer, wine, mocktails, and other cocktails. Among the drinks we ordered were the Liquid Gold, Volstead Violations, Poetic Legs, and Lady of the Law. I think the Poetic Legs was my personal favorite (I love the complexity of a jungle bird), but everyone enjoyed their drinks! Prices are also pretty reasonable at around $15 per drink. Would definitely love to visit again next time I'm in town!

We've been here twice now. The guest time was their opening night and then again last weekend. Absolutely love it. If you were sad when the 21st Brewery closed, you'll be happy to see what they've done with the place. The space is absolutely perfect for a speakeasy. I love that they have the "secret" entrance and password. The decor, which pays homage to the women of prohibition, fits the space and gives it such great ambiance. The service, even on opening night, has been outstanding. Friendly, prompt, attentive without being intrusive. We were offered a bowl of mixed nuts to accompany our cocktails, which is a nice added touch. The craft cocktails have been superb. The balance, the aesthetics, everything. The specialty themed cocktails are $15, which is very reasonable these days for good craft cocktails. This place is a must-do, especially if you dig the speakeasy vibe.

My first time checking out the new speakeasy, tucked away in the basement, and a little tricky to find, but once you're inside it has a true speakeasy vibe: dark, sultry, and almost cinematic. They offer a mix of classic cocktails and their own signature creations, though there's no food menu. I really liked their house Old Fashioned made with apple brandy. I also thought the French 75/Last Word hybrid was a fun, lighter option, but the Old Fashioned was definitely my favorite.

This a great new Art Deco inspired speakeasy in my neighborhood! A lovely addition to Lafayette Square and the City. I love the theme of naming the drinks after prominent women during the Prohibition era. All the drinks we had were delicious! Highly recommend!

We had to call the host to guide us to the proper entrance once inside. There's no signage, true speakeasy. We appreciated the hunt. Greeted with a welcome drink after sharing we were celebrating a birthday - such a lovely first impression. The ambiance is what you would expect, dimly lit. however, the bar is larger than expected for a speakeasy, so you could easily come solo for a drink.

We went for drinks during their soft-opening and this has the potential to be the next big thing in STL. The bar was designed really well and the "password" concept is a nice touch. The drinks were good. We will come back here again and try more of their menu!

First time at Prohibition was for my birthday. I did mention this when I made reservations online. It was a little difficult to find the entrance but look for the Gatsby sign then go downstairs. There is a chair in the hallway but I'm not sure if the hostess comes out when it's time to seat someone or if she sits out there most of the evening. I was early but she did go ahead and seat me. The server was very knowledgeable and explained the drink menu. Many drinks on the menu are named after women who played an instrumental part in the Prohibition era. I was given a complimentary "shot" for my birthday. Very cool spot

Ended up with the Denial and Error made with Strawberry Infused Cambio Blanco Tequila, Black Sesame-Miso Syrup, Lime, and Chocolate Walnut Bitters. So different but so good as is always the case! I loved how the miso and sesame came through. My other pick was what my daughter was going to get so I got to try that, too! The So Hip It's Outta Sight made with Blanco Tequila, Green Chile Vodka, Creole Shrubb, Cranberry-Sage Syrup, and Lime. It was sweet and good. I would order either of them again. We arrived late on Sunday, around 9:00 PM and they closed at 10:00 not realizing till we were in and seated that no one else was there, we must have passed the last person that came out as we were coming in. The vibe is classic, elevated, and gives true cocktail lounge energy -- not loud or chaotic, just intentional and well put together. Now let's talk about what we came for: the drinks. We ordered the Old Fashioned flight, and when I say they did not come to play... they did not come to play. Each one was crafted differently, and you can tell there's real skill behind the bar. These are not bartenders -- these are mixologists. Every drink was balanced, strong (in a good way), and thoughtfully made. Quick tip: If you plan on getting the Old Fashioned flight, make this your last stop of the night... because you will feel it. Service was great, drinks came out in a timely manner, and the overall experience felt elevated from start to finish. Highly recommend if you're looking for a true cocktail experience in St. Louis.

I have to agree it was quite delicious, very well balanced and a nice refreshing summer drink. We shared 3 apps: grilled summer squash, sourdough focaccia, and pork belly skewers. The first two were really good and highly recommend. Such a nice mix of fresh summer flavors in the squash dish and really enjoyed the romesco butter that came with the bread. For me I could have liked the pork belly more crispy as it was fairly soft in texture not that crunch I like in pork belly dishes but others at our table really enjoyed it. Moving to entrees, I got the lobster donut roll, others at table got the crab pasta and shrimp puttanesca. I just had to try to lobster donut roll but my expectations weren't high as sounds kind of gimmicky and it really wasn't for me the lobster is served cold (Maine style) and I found it to be pretty fishy in taste for my liking. The fries I ordered with it on the other hand were very delicious nice savory flavor and perfectly crispy. From all the plates we got it seemed the crab pasta was the way to go a bit of an elevated Mac and cheese (more sophisticated than that) next time I'd order that. Service was good they paced our food well and were around when we needed something. Modern Instagram worthy ambience. All round good experience!

The nod to the sea in the decor feels whimsical, light, and airy. My food was good! I thought my cocktail was a little off-balanced. There was a pistachio foam on top that just tasted sweet to me. And a tequila drink underneath that was bright, but also a little sweet. My crab pasta was filling and comforting, thought the past was a bit overcooked/yummy and the flavors didn't entirely work together for me. I would get a tiny bite sweet sun dried tomato, then a hint of lemon peel, then a big ol' lump of crab and breadcrumb, but it all felt like separate experiences. Definitely would visit again though and try something else as everyone's food looked great! And I was absolutely satisfied by the end of dinner.

I was in need of killing time before a crochet lesson down the street and I thought enjoying a cocktail was a good idea. I'm a big fan of rye and I found this drink very refreshing. I am a cocktail snob, I enjoy a well made cocktail. Being a snob, I want a mixologist that prepares a masterful cocktail. Enjoying my cocktail and watching the gentleman working behind the bar, I can honestly say, he is a masterful bartender. This visit, I did not order any food items. However, seeing the food severed around me, I'll definitely be back to enjoy to enjoy some Crab Stuffed Mushrooms or a Crab Cake Sandwich. The inside of the bar is compact. In addition to the bar sitting, there's a row of booths along the wall. Beyond the barroom, is a backroom that's is pretty comfy and classy, too. The space is a bit dark with rich sage, brass, and terracotta. There are several hanging plants making it an inviting place. The bar has plenty of comfortable seating and cozy tables if you decide to bring some friends. Caleb was our server during our visit. He was an absolute delight. He made excellent cocktail suggestions. He looked after our group without being overly doting. Just a gem of a human. We tried approximately 9 cocktails during our visit. Did I mention we were at brunch! I highly recommend the peach bite and the Side Car. Every cocktail is thoughtfully made and well executed. They offer a small brunch menu along with the regular menu. I usually always get chilaquiles when they are available. But today the ruby trout and grits sounded perfect. This dish was amazing!! The trout was thin with crispy skin. The grits were creamy and delicious. The dish is topped with a house made radish pico and salsa macha. We also ordered a breakfast sandwich that was paired with the crispiest breakfast potatoes I've ever had. The burger and fries are also a good option. The seasoning on the fries is next level. The brunch menu has a sticky toffee roll that is a perfect size for sharing or not. Salty sweet fork tender cinnamon roll. Lastly, the deviled eggs were a group favorite. I am a big fan of Passenger Chili Crisp. If you are unfamiliar please look them up! It's hands down the best chili crisp I've ever had.
