Off Elm? Yep, it's just two doors down on Big Bend and they're laughing and having a party. The staff of bartenders are from STL Barkeep, so you instantly know the cocktails are masterfully made. I came for a HH and enjoyed three different cocktails. My first was a Gold Rush. It's basically a Bees Knees with Vodka instead of Gin. It was light and refreshing, making it a great start. The second cocktail was one of my all-time favorites, a Old Fashioned. I can honestly say, it was one of the best, if not the absolute best one I have ever had. I finished the HH with a Espresso Martini. It was a good ending to my HH. They use a Cold Brew instead of true espresso, so it had a milder coffee taste. My nosh while drinking was a, Jalapeño Popper Dip. It was okay, in my opinion, it did not fit the description on the menu. Especially, the type of chips described. My friend ordered, The Small Board and it was fantastic and a good value. Our bartenders were friendly and as I stated earlier, they are masters of their skill. What stopped them from getting a 5 Star review, is simple. They do not offer a Martini on their Happy Hour Menu. Nice place with a welcoming atmosphere. Higher ceilings, nice lighting. Large bar with a second "bar" style table and then some 1 sided booths with chairs. We were close to others patrons but still able to hear each other, had to project a bit. The drinks were really unique and cool! God, I absolutely love this place. I first started loving STL Barkeep cocktails back in 2020 when they were offering the pre-mix, batched, cocktails delivered to your door. I was sold. They exceed my expectations every time. We live in the neighborhood and after years of having STL Barkeep cocktails from various pop-ups it was AMAZING when they moved to Webster. We have been a few times since they opened and I get the Old Fashioned, with a Rye blend, every time and hands down it is the VERY best and I have probably tried---- 40-50 place's Old Fashioneds across the US with the majority of those being in St. Louis and the only one that even comes close is the Planter House Old Fashioned or their Black Manhattan. Its cozy and intimate in there but it is indeed loud when its very busy. Emily is a lovely bartender who chatted with us and talked cocktails and such while we were being served. We have not eaten there only ordered cocktails and we will go back many times over! read more

I went to Off Elm with a group of friends, and we had a great time! The drinks are super creative and change with the seasons (the new spring menu is 10/10), and the apps are yummy. We got the jalapeño popper dip and the Riplets dip, and I had a glass of rose and the Mcfly. We were able to be seated right away and had great service from our waitress. When my wife told me the name of the bar she wanted to go to I couldn't quite place it. I should have taken the name literally. This is a relatively small restaurant that is just a block off of Elm in Webster Groves. We went in one evening as a parents' night out while we had family visiting who could watch the kids. When we walked it you go from the nondescript entrance to a warm and inviting interior. The lighting was on the dimmer side which makes it have a nice date night vibe. We sat at the bar which spans the length of the restaurant. It had a rich wood top which I always am drawn to. The place was moderately packed for a weekday with people who were 30+. I'd expect on weekends you would definitely need a reservation. There is a food menu, but this is really a drink forward establishment. They have a fully stocked bar and a very nice selection of mixed drinks, wins, and an okay selection of beers. The cocktails are the clear standout and they rotate over time. The drinks were a tad on the expensive side, but relatively standard for the quality of the establishment and vibe it is going for. The main drawbacks for the spot are two fold. First, there is a ton of competition for spots in Webster and I think this is more of a drinks rather than full meal spot. Second, parking nearby is fine, mostly on the street, but it will be off-putting for some individuals. Overall though I liked this spot if you are looking for an evenings of cocktails and light fare. read more

Pat Gioia and I went full cocktail nerd mode here, geeking out over the history behind several classic drinks. Riveting stuff, guys. Now, Pat also convinced me to try an amaretto sour. An amaretto sour. I had doubts (because I'm not 80 and it's not Christmas), but wow, that drink slapped. Tangy, sweet, and dangerously smooth. Such a charming spot! We came on a whim on a Saturday evening and it was packed! Luckily, they had room at the bar for us. I highly recommend making a reservation. The vibe is cozy! Low lighting and I love the decor. It feels very intimate which I love. Great spot for date night or a night out with friends. They have food offerings (we didn't try food) but would be interested in returning. I got a spritz drink which was pretty good. I noticed all of their drinks have nice additions to them which make them special and memorable. My drink had a nice mint garnish while my friends had a branded ice cube. All about the little touches! I was surprised to see that many of their cocktails are batched, I feel like this gives them time to add the fun touches. The menu offers some creative cocktail options, but the execution didn't quite live up to the hype. As a long time fan of The Vandy, I couldn't be more excited for Off Elm! The space has a warm feel with a rich wood bar top that says "sit, make yourselves at home". The cocktail menu is more limited than The Vandy but the drinks are top tier! Our wonderful bartender, Sia (like the singer), recommended the Seattle Button Down and Coconut Crossing. They are complete opposites but equally amazing. I'm not a big bourbon drinker but the Seattle Button Down has me singing a different tune. The Coconut Crossing is the beach in a glass. Sweet coconut with a minty lift. If I had to choose one, I'd go with the Seattle Button Down. Highly recommend using the waitlist so you'll be seated immediately as there's not much waiting room. Amazing new spot and great addition to Webster! We went on Tuesday and our bartender Chris was fantastic! He is passionate about his craft and knows absolutely everything about cocktail making. They have a great selection of cocktails on their menu but if you tell Chris what you like he can whip you up something special off menu. All the cocktails we had were so good! Pricey at about $16 a pop but you're drinking top shelf products so worth it in my opinion. A cool vibe inside-they nailed it on the decor.
