He made some suggestions after I asked a few questions. Ended up with the Denial and Error made with Strawberry Infused Cambio Blanco Tequila, Black Sesame-Miso Syrup, Lime, and Chocolate Walnut Bitters. So different but so good as is always the case! I loved how the miso and sesame came through. My other pick was what my daughter was going to get so I got to try that, too! The So Hip It's Outta Sight made with Blanco Tequila, Green Chile Vodka, Creole Shrubb, Cranberry-Sage Syrup, and Lime. It was sweet and good. I would order either of them again. We arrived late on Sunday, around 9:00 PM and they closed at 10:00 not realizing till we were in and seated that no one else was there, we must have passed the last person that came out as we were coming in. Sippin' Santa at Planter's House has a super cute and unique vibe with its Hawaiian Christmas theme. The decor and overall ambiance were fun and definitely different from the typical holiday pop-ups. With that said, I was not impressed with the menu. Every single food and drink option leaned heavily sweet. If you need to watch your sugar intake at all, this place makes it really difficult. There were no balanced or lower-sugar options to choose from, which was disappointing. When I finally found something on the meal that seemed less on the sweet side (grilled shrimp) it was $18 for 4 shrimp. I was still hungry. They also enforce a pretty strict two-hour time limit on your table. Thankfully, the staff was kind enough to extend our time since my friend's food took a while to come out, which I really appreciated. Overall, it was a cute experience and fun to try once, but it's definitely a one-and-done for me. If I ever go back, I'll be eating beforehand. read more

Check your bill! A couple of couples recently stopped in for some super cocktails and a bit to eat. When the bill came the drinks were all listed as the most expensive drinks we had when 4 of the 12 drinks when less than what was billed. Additionally, both Caesar salads were listed for a protein add when only one of the two had that addition. We did not call attention and tipped on the stated amount but this as a dirty way to trump up the bill and related tip. Beware! While the drinks/food are good this leaves a bad taste. read more

We popped in for cocktails on a Tuesday night after having dinner at the nearby Hamilton's steakhouse. The drinks were delicious (I enjoyed my Imagination Library cocktail, and my 3 colleagues all got the Amaretto Sours our waitress recommended, and enjoyed them!). Planter's House has always been one of those places on my radar but that I've never stopped in for. This changed this fall when my wife and I were at a work dinner. The reception ended early, and since we had a babysitter we weren't quite ready to go home. On her suggestion we stopped in at Planter's House for a drink on a Friday night around 9pm. I can't speak to the food as we didn't order anything, but I'll talk about the drink menu. This is what the restaurant is known for and man is there really list to choose from. The building itself is old, and you can feel that history seeping into the drink menu. Plenty of places have cocktails, here it felt like it was in the blood of the establishment. The cocktails really ran the gambit and many were things you don't see on typical menus. I would hate to be a new bartender here as you would really have to learn a ton of drinks quickly. The atmosphere of the place is enjoyable. The inside is modest, but there is a HUGE patio. I think Planter's House would shine the most on those spring or fall evenings where it is just pleasant to sit outside. There is also a good happy hour T-F (4-6) and one that also runs on Sunday. There are a couple drawbacks that kept me from giving the place five stars. Although the drink menu was extensive, the food menu is not. This could put you in a bind if you are wanting more than just drinks. This isn't a huge concern, but you should know this is a drink first sort of establishment. The mixed drinks we got also were just fine, not amazing. Given how elaborately they are detailed, there was quite a bit of hype leading up to them. read more

I've been to Planter's House many times--mostly for cocktails--and haven't been disappointed yet! We recently visited in December, and they're "operating as Sippin' Santa" through December 29. They do not mess around with Christmas decorating! The place is thick with festive lights, trees, and other decorations. The usual cocktail menu is available, plus seasonal specials with a "keep the glass" option for an upcharge. Service is always friendly, and this time the bartender advised us which of the holiday offerings were his faves ("Frosty the Merman isn't going over real well but folks love the mug!") Most are fun drinks on the sweet and fruity side; after a couple we switched to the classics. Drinks have been consistently well-balanced and interesting at Planter's. It's a great place to sit at the bar for cocktails or a beer, or grab a booth with friends and enjoy dinner too. read more

Stopped into planters house for a night cap. First and foremost, the patio is gorgeous, I'd love to get out one evening to sit outside. The interior is designed to look elegant, but the atmosphere is relaxed. I really liked this. Made it feel very welcome, but still elevated. All of the workers were great. Super nice, patient, and insanely attentive--not just to me, but all guests. I had a strange bedfellows which is one of their seasonal offerings. It is just a sour style cocktail with mezcal. I enjoyed it. Solid drink, and good presentation. I usually don't like colored glassware, but I think the green glass works for this drink. A few extra notes: attention to detail when prepping cocktails is there. They are meticulous and do their due diligence. Additionally, they have a good ice program, which is very, very important to me. Someone next to me ordered dill fries. They looked and smelled beautiful. I need to get back for some. This is a really nice space, great vibes and ambiance! Went last night and didnt realize it was a Christmas concept, which was really cute and well done. However, I ordered a spicy margarita that came out absolutely undrinkable - left my lips and throat burning from one sip and I wish that was an exaggeration. Wild to pay $20 after tip for a drink I left on the bar, I would expect at least some level of quality control or a server coming to check how things were with that price point. We had the imagination library and the PH old fashion. The fries with cacio de peppe seasoning were great! The Korean brisket won tons were good but the meat itself was not very hot it was clearly heated up and not fully. Cheese on top wasn't even melted. Flavor of meat was good though. This spot has been on my list for a looooong time, and its just down the street! We finally had a chance to stop in. To start, this place is gorgeous. The style is amazing and so pretty, their designer did a phenomenal job. Even the bathrooms are super nice! And clean!! The patio is huge and perfect for spring and summer time. The drinks - they had so many good options. I'm a whiskey drinker and I'll be honest, some of the ones I tried were maybe a little too unique for me? The flavor's just didn't quite work, BUT, maybe they were made for a different consumer. Others were freaking delicious, also unique, but blended flavors very well. We will definitely be back for nice cocktails. This is a treat as they are expensive, I can't see us coming back for more than one or two drinks at a time. They also have a big selection of various spirits. The food however was just ok. The burrata was very fresh and I enjoyed this but the crab cakes did not have much flavor and had an overly fishy taste to them. My friend and I went to brunch on a Saturday morning right at 10 when they opened. It filled up pretty quick. On the reservation we said we had a toddler/baby and they had the high chair set up for us. My friend and I both ordered the breakfast burrito! It was delicious! I would recommend splitting it because we both ate half. The only downside was that the waitress forgot we were her table so other tables that were sat after us were waited on before us.
