Love the travel theme of space! Both times I've been here, I've gotten the wine flight. I love that they put them in a tiered serving rack that puts them in the order you should drink them in. I had the bubbly flight, and it was outstanding. We've also had some of the small plates (not pictured was the charcuterie board and the house made bread). The food is prepared by Hamilton's and is outstanding. Service has tended to be a little on the slow side, but not too bad. Staff have always been friendly. There's not a ton of seating inside, but they do have a patio for nicer weather. It wasn't crowded either time we were there, but we weren't there at high crowd times. This was our first time trying Winnie's, and it definitely gave the chill vibe we were looking for. We started with wine and were pleasantly surprised with free popcorn -- honestly, the word "free" caught our attention first . The wine selection was pretty solid, and they also had a great variety of beers. I didn't try the beer myself, but my guest really enjoyed theirs. The customer service was consistent and welcoming the entire time. We mainly came to relax, sip wine, and play UNO , and the atmosphere was perfect for that. While we didn't order food, everything coming out to nearby tables looked amazing. If you're looking for a mature, laid-back spot to unwind, Winnie's is definitely worth checking out. First time we came here our company reserved the back room for dinner- it was excellent! So my 3 co-workers and I decided to come back the very next time we were in town. Six pm on a Tuesday, the bar was not busy. We asked server if we could sit at a table that had not been cleared since all the other tables in the area had "reserved" signs on them. The server told us "you can when I get to clearing it" so we sat at the bar understanding that it wasn't going to be any time soon. Fine, no big deal. The bartender wasn't too friendly, but again not a big deal- until the last person ordering asked for a chocolate martini. Nope. He couldn't do it- something about it wouldn't be good, then that he didn't have the ingredients. Fair enough but his delivery was super rude. The person ordering doesn't drink much else, so looked at the menu and settled on a modified espresso martini. Everyone else was drinking wine- all was good. We let him know we were going to be splitting the bill 4 ways. He came back and we ordered 4 small plates to share to start- but forgot to ask for fries- we tried 3 times to get his attention- fourth time was the charm when he brought plates and silverware to us. The food was good, that's the saving grace for this review. The server came back around to let us know the table was ready halfway through our first round of food. We already knew the employees weren't going to get any nicer if we asked to move, so we stayed put. A couple sat down next to us and the bartender fawned all over them- brought the manager out twice to meet with them as well. We ordered more food. But he never got friendlier or more attentive to our group- we didn't take it personally especially when two other men sat down next to us and he also treated them with disdain. We flagged him down when we were done and asked again to split the bill evenly. He muttered something the said something else about already having separate checks for our drinks. He came back with the split the food evenly besides our drinks- fine. We all agreed this wasn't good service - but we're not going to not tip him! We all tipped between 15-20%. As we walked to the door, we saw him look at each of the receipts, then threw down the booklets. The whole restaurant turned. We waited for him to look at us at the door- But he didn't. He acted like a child. And you know who's Wales around the bar to pick up the booklets? The server who gave us attitude first. Felt bad for her. Will never be back. read more

This place is big. The decor is world themed with maps and wine stuff and even some Lambert Airport themed items. I wound up there because the rum bar next door was closed. Our server was named Dawn and she was a lot of fun. First I ordered a tropical frozen drink. Then I ordered a flight (planes trains automobiles). My friend ordered a different flight (gaining altitude). I ordered a baked mac and cheese, and it was pretty good considering normally don't like baked mac and cheese. This place is amazing!!! We needed a place for a girls catch up. This place ended up being perfect. The attention to detail in terms of layout and design is outstanding. There are a variety of seating options: bar, high tops, and cozy couches. We tucked into one of the couches and got comfortable. A place with wine in the name should have a good selection of wine to choose from. There is an equally well curated cocktail menu as well. I went with a bubbles flight that was very good. I always need a little something if I'm drinking. We ordered prime rib sliders, cauliflower fritters, and the bacon dusted popcorn. The food was great but the stand out for me was the popcorn. Popcorn is my favorite go to snack and I probably should be in a support group because it's a problem..... We ordered the bourbon bread pudding for our sweet treat. This is probably in my top 5 in STL between Retreat and The Oyster Bar. We sat for a good while and our servers changed hands during our time. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Stopped by this evening with a friend for drinks and appetizers. It is well-decorated inside with a large patio-- can't wait for the weather to cool down so we can come back and sit outside! Our servers were very attentive and accommodating. We had the Tuscan Spritz and another cocktail not listed on their menu online (Catalina?). The Tuscan Spritz was nice, fresh, and strong without tasting bitter. The Catalina was a mix of grappa (brandy), prosecco, and apricot liqueur-- it was a well-made drink but my friend and I couldn't get past the brandy taste (mia culpa!). The fries come with a very yummy remoulade. The serving is very generous so no need to get multiples for the table. I was wary of ordering the brussel sprouts because I'm sick of soggy balsamic-soaked monstrosities. I am glad I ordered them! The brussel sprouts were well-cooked with a nice light roast and delicate lemon flavor. The spinach artichoke dip was heavy on the spinach but I'm not complaining! It comes with perfectly buttered and seasoned crostini. We did ask for extra crostini because we didn't get too many with the dip itself. Overall we would come here again! I would say the flights are pretty affordable for what you get too. The service is always great and the waiter/ waitress is very knowledgeable about the wines on the menu. The food is so good! Came here to meet a friend for the last open hour after getting some amazing professional news! And it was the perfect choice to celebrate and cap off my night. My friend who had arrived earlier made friends with Dawn, who was the kindest, most enthusiastic person! She suggested a flight of whites to match the occasion ("Gaining Altitude," appropriately enough to my rising career star, but also the décor is aeroplane/travel themed). She also didn't rush us out even though I was drinking slow (I had come from another happy hour) at closing. She reassured us that they could accommodate us finishing our drinks while they flipped the barstools onto the bar and bussed the tables. There was an obvious wedding party also lingering at close, so I didn't feel she was just saying it to be nice and secretly resenting us for being rude and overstaying. We've been to Winnie's before and love it. It's right down the street and super easy for us to get to. We love happy hour, they have killer deals on their appetizers. We got the house bread and the garlic salt and softness was excellent. The Brussels sprouts were amazing, melt in your mouth. The scallops also a 5/5, sweet and buttery. I hesitate to review this place and let people in on the secret because it still seems to be underrated! Winnie's is a new-ish wine bar (but of course, has a full bar and a fantastic cocktail menu) adjacent to Hamilton's. What sets it apart are 1) its cozy decor (think gastropub style couches) and 2) its flights, which are themed, delicious, and huge pours! Also, because they are associated with Hamilton's, they have some excellent bites if you get a little hungry. The cauliflower bites are my favorite. The first visit, we were lucky enough to enjoy the lovely patio. It's a great spot to enjoy Winnie's wines when the weather is cooperating. On my second visit, it was a bit damp and chilly, so we grabbed two comfy chairs near the garage door. This vantage allowed me to enjoy the great travel decor. So creative!!! The wine by the glass list is great. It covers most varietals and regions. Winnie's also offers a list of curated flights to allow guests to try several wines that showcase the varietal, type, or region in different ways. Winnie's offers a nice selection of smalls bites to pair with the wines. The creamy kale & parmesan dip is excellent as are the french fries. And the desserts!!! Plan on splitting them because the portions are extremely generous. What outshines the wine and food at Winnie's is the service. Everyone is so friendly, attentive and helpful. I enjoyed Winnie's Wine Bar so much the first visit, I returned within a few days excited to try the other wine flights! Both visits were excellent! As soon as you walk in it feels cozy and welcoming. Menus are at both doors with clear directions stating to take a menu and seat yourself. I liked having the option of table or bar seating or cozy lounge chairs and couches. On my first visit, we opted for the cozy chairs since we weren't eating. We tried the Pinot Noir wine flight and loved it! Each wine was very good with generous pours! The wine label that comes with it is very helpful and descriptive. There are several choices for different wine flights, individual wine pours or bottles. They also have a good cocktail and beer list - so many options! On my second visit, we sat at a table and enjoyed some of the small plates and the International and Gaining Altitude wine flights. I enjoyed all the wines in both of these flights! We also shared some small plates of prime rib sliders, crab cakes and Brussels sprout and each were delicious, flavorful and paired well with the wine! If you like Brussels sprouts, they are a must try! Crispy, tender and delicious! The service here also matched the excellent wine and atmosphere. The staff were friendly and welcoming. On both occasions servers were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. THIS SPOT! I absolutely loved it. It was exactly what I was looking for for some Wednesday night drinks. This spot is nestled in the same building at Hamilton's, and it's a bit harder to spot in the front of the building rather than on the side. Parking was plentiful on the street, and we entered on said side through the patio. It was warm and welcoming. The patio has picnic tables and lights, while the door was open and letting in fresh air. Out high top was located in front of the bar, and we were greeted warmly with popcorn. It was amazing! I'm not sure what the seasoning is on it, but definitely looking forward to getting it again. I love a good flight, and I'm a red wine drinker. Upon entry to the space, it was very warm and inviting. The space is decorated with a combination of table bar top style tables and plush leather couch social spaces. The warm colors make the space very comfortable for wine drinking. I appreciated that it wasn't too dark inside as many wine bars happen to be. The menus are placed at the entrance in a decorative box and it was open seating. Opted for a couch space and it was extremely comfortable. Settled on the Pinot Noir Flight and then also a glass of the Portlandia Pinot Noir. Cheese board appetizer (3 cheeses) paired really nicely with the Noir. I live 2 mins away and this place has been on my list of restaurants I want to try for a while. We went during happy hour and took advantage of the buy 1, get 1 small plate half off. The brussel sprouts were my favorite of the small plates we ordered. The salt on the bread was a bit too much but it was easily scraped off. The bread was delicious though. The cauliflower fritters were a great texture but relied a bit too much on the dipping sauce for flavor. My boyfriend prefers warm shrimp but really liked the shrimp cocktail. Why are you reading this? Really, just get in the car and drive here, then you can read my review while you wait for your food to come out. It doesn't matter what you order, it's going to be amazing. I will tell you, I tried the meat board, tuna small plate and pork belly small plate. On a separate occasion, I have also had the sprouts, the cauliflower risotto balls and the kale and Parmesan dip. What tops off the whole experience, is that the service was amazing both times I came. Two different servers that genuinely seemed excited to assist me in a delightful experience. I absolutely love the decor, they have perfected "homey" and the patio is a delight also, well lit and hidden from a breeze. If you are still here, I will tell you about the food. When I tried the meat board, there was a piece of meat that was so red, I thought it was raw. I did try it, it was cured and actually melted in my mouth. It's now my favorite part of the board. I do not love tuna to start, but my partner does, he very much enjoyed it. I appreciated the amount of flavor on the plate. The pork belly was my favorite after the board and lastly I cannot remember the last time I had such a perfect cheesecake. On my first visit I got the cauliflower fritters, 10/10 do recommend, perfect snack while sipping on wine. Can you believe I almost forgot to tell you about the wine? I loved the cabernet wine flight. If I came back, I wouldn't try another one, I loved it so much. They have several flights for whatever you fancy. Had a fabulous experience at Winnie's Wine Bar. Met there with a group of friends. The decor of the Resturant and bar is immaculate and very eye catching. The setting and theme inside Winnies is a old modern travelers paradise. There was areas to sit either at the bar, in various couches and chairs. Or even a lovely dining area located in the rear. There is also a patio and private parking as well off the back. The service and staff was excellent, they were dressed from another time, to match the ambience of the Resturant theme. The food was delicious as was the selection of wine and drinks. There was a great selection as well for desserts as well. I personally got the Carrot Cake, which is large portions, and made fresh daily. We were constantly checked in on from our server, as well the other servers. It was an overall lovely experience. I highly recommend checking out Winnie's as well as any of the other restaurants or bars that are conveniently located and connected with in each other. I like the travel decor, but I'm biased since I have my own travel decor wall in my house. The service was great. I was going to get either the cab flight or the Pinot noir flight, but my friend wanted to split a bottle of Pinot gris, so that's what we did. She got the seared tuna which she loved because of the accompanying wonton chips. I got the crab cakes which I enjoyed. We split the bread pudding and it was great, but the ice cream was already 95% melted and the bread part itself was a little underdone in my opinion. While I waited for my friend to arrive I got the Red Eye cocktail (espresso martini) and wow, the brown sugar syrup made this variation of it amazing! read more

This was my second visit here, and both times had great experiences. First time in, sat at a high top table with 2 girlfriends; second time in, sat on a comfy couch with my boyfriend. All the seating is great, very cozy and comfy vibes with tvs sprinkled around to watch any sports games without being too much:) the wine flights are definitely the way to go, great combos. The food tonight was GREAT, highly recommend both the lobster Mac and prime rib sliders. I have had the same waitress both times I've come, and she could not be nicer. This is overall a great place to come hang out, they also have a wide variety of beers on tap and a full bar for anyone who isn't a huge wine fan (personally cant imagine that). The brussel sprouts were really good and cooked perfectly - the big pieces weren't crunchy like you get at some places and lots of crispy sprout leaves. The lemon flavor was nice, not over-powering. The carrot cake was fantastic as well! It was a huge piece presented very artistically on a wooden board with a fork shape on the plate made from the absence of powdered sugar. It was a perfectly moist cake with prevalent and balanced spices. The coconut and pecan filling really added another level to the cake. The cream cheese frosting was really fluffy and unique. For wine, I ordered the Villa Toscana Rosso. It was a nice, easy drinking wine with subtle flavors. My husband ordered the Malbec and this was really good.
