Milano spritz - non alcoholic
Robyn W.

We stopped in for drinks on our way to a wedding, and they were exquisite. They had a nice selection of cocktails, and several could be made non alcoholic, which several of us appreciated. This is a small place and you definitely want to make a reservation for a table. We got lucky and were able to sit at the bar for a half hour and enjoy the ambiance. Great find!

Ricotta ($15 ) very yummy but expensive

Cute place but very small. Dark, reddish lighting for a romantic ambiance but everyone is close together. It's pretty, but feels a little cramped. Food and drinks were good, service was good, but pretty expensive, making it sort of an average experience? A nice place to stop in, but I wouldn't make it the main event and definitely not the main meal.

Wow, wow, wow! We attended the Spanish wine pairing dinner last night by Chef David, and it was truly remarkable. Every detail was so thoughtfully planned, and each course was absolutely delicious. My husband and I honeymooned in Spain this past September, and it was incredible how accurately--yet creatively--the familiar flavors were represented. We sincerely hope to return again soon. Highly recommend this cozy spot!

Forgive me for not taking pictures! Low lighting and catching up with a friend! We stopped in to check out this new spot and overall had a good time. I tried one of their NA wines and it was pretty good. I had never had NA (de-alcoholized) wine before. For food, we had the crispy chickpeas (a must try! So good). The papas bravas (also delicious!) and the seared cod. The seared cod was yummy but very salty. However, I would definitely order it again. The one thing we got but didn't like very much was the charcuterie board. While it was large with a lot of selections, the meats didn't really hit home with us. It's a great spot for a cozy date night. Low lighting, not too loud. However, the main reason for my 4 star review instead of 5 was the service. I was tempted to put 3, but I am very impressed with the food, and also am a fan of Good Company next door and have only had good experiences there. However, our server was not friendly. He seemed like he would rather be anywhere else but there. Was not really helpful/attentive. I honestly don't think he smiled one time. People have bad days though. It wouldn't deter me from going back. I say definitely check them out. As well as their sister restaurant, Good Company next door!

Food was all stellar; 5 stars. Service and timing could use some improvement. Stopped in Saturday night without a reservation and were lucky enough to grab a spot at the bar. The space is small so a reservation is probably the best bet. Started off with the El Tinto, an NA cocktail and enjoyed it. We also tried the NA red wine which wasn't bad but wasn't great; NA reds are challenging. We had the crispy chickpeas, papas bravas, ricotta, seared cod and braised beef cheek and I would 100% order each of them again! The plates are shareable and I thought the portions were pretty big; we definitely ordered too much for the two of us. Will be back to try the rest of the menu!

Great food, great service, and cozy ambiance! We loved our dinner, every bite was flavorful and reminded us of our time in Italy! Our favorite dish was the homemade ricotta with the perfectly grilled bread! They have a great selection of wines from around the world and cocktails. 10/10 would highly recommended making a reservation and trying them out!

No doubt Aperi has achieved James Beard award! Its food and service are top notched -- far exceeding majority of the tapas / wine bars I have tried. The food menu isnt that big. We tried almost the entire food menu. Everything is excellent. My favorites are the pork cheek and the cod. The ambience is on the romantic side with light music. I love it! No doubt we will be back again.

This was our first time dining at Aperi and hands down the BEST Tapas in St Louis. We had the Crispelle with the freshest Lump Crab. The Papa's Bravas with perfectly salty sardines and the Lamb meatballs with a Mediterranean flavor out of this world. The drinks are delicious and can be paired with each menu item. They are a smaller space and recommend reservations. The vibe inside is intimate and welcoming. 10/10 we will be back!!

Aperi is a quaint little spot in the Grove. I absolutely recommend reservations, as we did see the establishment have to turn away some folks. Reservations ARE worth it. But definitely plan ahead and just be there, I think they do reserve tables for approx 2 hours each because of the small space. Again, not a bad thing. We did not feel rushed at all. (There are a few bar spots that are open seating, but I would bank on that. The place was steady while we were there). Okay, onto the food and drinks! I was surprised to see orange wine on the menu! It's something I adored in Spain but with such chilly weather and some of our food pairings, I opted for a red. The berry hill cocktail was amazing as well. Charcuterie gets a 3.5 - it was a standard charcuterie board, great size and unique cheeses but the rest of the board was a bit standard. Whipped Ricotta - incredible. 4.5 stars I would have liked my bread toasted just a bit more and I wish they gave one extra slice of bread. (We did ask for one but it was sadly forgotten about with the busyness). The forgotten bread did NOT impact this rating, service was exceptional. Crispy Chickpeas - must have. I can't get over how crispy they actually were and I want to know how to make them at home because I would devour a bowl everyday. The simplicity of this dish was just amazing because it gave us the chance to really celebrate each ingredient. Papas Bravas - does come with an anchovy - be aware. (They have tinned fish and oysters on the menu, I'm not disappointed!) It added a great texture and flavor dimension to the savory fried potatoes. The vinegar and salt were a great balance. Seared Cod - this was well cooked, but the flavor wasn't as strong as I was hoping for. I think if I ordered it extra crispy it would do it but I don't want to lose the internal portions of the dish either because it was perfect. This was probably my least favorite dish of the night, but I would try it again for sure with maybe a tweak of extra crispy. Dessert (not pictured) was amazing - a dirty chai tiramisu. I honestly tasted more of a cherry flavor than chai but it was creamy and delicious either way.

Very intimate ambiance. Perfect for a girls night or night cap. If you need a landmark, Good Company is next door. Overall we had a good experience trying different items from the cocktail and wine menu. I'm not sure about the shared plates menu. However they do share a kitchen with the restaurant next door. Check this establishment out if you're looking for a different cocktail place in the Lou.

Bar Vibes - 10/10 Service - 1/10 This bar is connected to Good Company and there is plenty of street parking. It is cozy and intimate and reservations are highly recommended as it is a very small bar. We were seated immediately but I had to go to the restroom and the waiter tried to take everyone's drink order without me being present. We were not a fan of our waiter. His demeanor and lack of checking in and refilling our water cups really turned us off. My girlfriends and I all ordered a spritz and we did not like any of our drinks and could not finish them. They were so bitter! We did not order any food so cannot review that. We will most likely not return.

I came across Aperi on IG, and I'm so glad I did! This is a sexy, intimate, and contemporary space, that is perfect for a date night, or drinks with friends. The space itself is quite small, so I recommend booking in advance! My RECs Oysters- Yay!!! So tasty and fresh. We also got them on happy hour, which is I believe from 4-6pm! Whipped Ricotta- YAY!!!! Holy moly this dish was tasty. Ricotta was very good, but the stars for me were the focaccia and the honey mixture on top! Yum. Crispy Chickpeas- I didn't have many expectations for this one, but it was very tasty. It's a cold dish, much more like a salad, but it was so surprisingly delicious. The textures and flavors were on point. Cocktails- yay. The cocktails are very nice, they tend to leans towards more aperitif style in my opinion, which are excellent palette cleansers but can be a bit more sweet forward. But who doesn't love a spritz!? Ice cubes are custom courtesy of "GOOD ICE STL"!!! Such a cute touch. *unisex bathrooms cutely designed, and stocked with feminine products to boot* 100% WILL BE RETURNING!

Aperi is the MUST TRY new spot in the grove that is perfect for your next night out! The intimate wine and amaro bar is serving up delicious tapas that are packed with so much flavor! My favs: House-Made Ricotta - topped with a flavorful mix of Honey, Orange, Pine Nut, Aleppo Chili, and Basil. Served with Focaccia Brussels Sprouts - perfectly cooked with a Sweet Vermouth Glaze and topped with Marcona Almonds, and Feta Crispy Chickpeas - mixed with a salad of Heirloom Tomato, Sweet Pepper, Cucumber, Goat Cheese, and Mint Oysters - served with freshly shaved Horseradish, Hot Sauce, Lemon, house-made Cocktail Sauce, Mignonette The staff is super helpful navigating the menu, especially the wine and cocktail list! I loved the Milano Spritz! To my fellow allergy friends, the staff is incredible and takes allergies very seriously! Walk-ins are welcome but reservations are still encouraged!

I love that they put them in a tiered serving rack that puts them in the order you should drink them in. I had the bubbly flight, and it was outstanding. We've also had some of the small plates (not pictured was the charcuterie board and the house made bread). The food is prepared by Hamilton's and is outstanding. Service has tended to be a little on the slow side, but not too bad. Staff have always been friendly. There's not a ton of seating inside, but they do have a patio for nicer weather. Six pm on a Tuesday, the bar was not busy. We asked server if we could sit at a table that had not been cleared since all the other tables in the area had "reserved" signs on them. The server told us "you can when I get to clearing it" so we sat at the bar understanding that it wasn't going to be any time soon. Fine, no big deal. The bartender wasn't too friendly, but again not a big deal- until the last person ordering asked for a chocolate martini. Nope. He couldn't do it- something about it wouldn't be good, then that he didn't have the ingredients. Fair enough but his delivery was super rude. The person ordering doesn't drink much else, so looked at the menu and settled on a modified espresso martini. Everyone else was drinking wine- all was good. We let him know we were going to be splitting the bill 4 ways. He came back and we ordered 4 small plates to share to start- but forgot to ask for fries- we tried 3 times to get his attention- fourth time was the charm when he brought plates and silverware to us. The food was good, that's the saving grace for this review. The server came back around to let us know the table was ready halfway through our first round of food. We already knew the employees weren't going to get any nicer if we asked to move, so we stayed put. A couple sat down next to us and the bartender fawned all over them- brought the manager out twice to meet with them as well. We ordered more food. But he never got friendlier or more attentive to our group- we didn't take it personally especially when two other men sat down next to us and he also treated them with disdain. We flagged him down when we were done and asked again to split the bill evenly. He muttered something the said something else about already having separate checks for our drinks. He came back with the split the food evenly besides our drinks- fine. We all agreed this wasn't good service - but we're not going to not tip him! We all tipped between 15-20%. As we walked to the door, we saw him look at each of the receipts, then threw down the booklets. The whole restaurant turned. We waited for him to look at us at the door- But he didn't. He acted like a child. And you know who's Wales around the bar to pick up the booklets? The server who gave us attitude first. Felt bad for her. Will never be back.

The ravioli was incredible. It's rare to find something with gjetost, and it was SO good. It may have been on a limited winter menu, but gaaaah dang so good. Served in a broth - a perfect dish. A small plates restaurant that felt a little Italian. We make reservations and show up to this place that looks like a neighborhood pub. Quaint, in the corner, inviting light shining through medium sized windows. Inside, the vibes were a hybrid of someone's very nice dining room and an old western saloon. I know that's almost nonsensical, but the vibes were good. We felt right at home. Service was spot on. The server was very nice and new the menu pretty well. The food came out tapas style, so when something was ready, it just came right out. I like that. I like the periods where there are so many plates on the table at one time that it's overwhelming. What's what eating is all about. As for the food itself, it was good. I'll give a little blurb on each thing, as not to wear out your eyeballs. Crispy Artichokes (sauce au vert). These were fun and nice and crispy. Don't see artichokes like these very often. The sauce was a little weak, though. Didn't exactly go well with these fried little morsels. 'Nduja Croquetas (bomba rice, spicy prosciutto, fontina, grenada pepper aioli). Wow, now these little flavor bombs cannot be missed. Spicy sausage arancinis with a nice peppery aioli to dip. An intensely flavorful little dish that I loved. Can't find it on the menu, maybe it was seasonal, maybe it was a special, but we had a bone marrow French onion soup that was nice. The soup was good good. Very well developed flavors. The marrow bone was a little sloppy, though, and we got a transverse cut of bone, leaving very little marrow to access. Next were the Mussels (green garlic broth, Spanish vermouth, pickled peppers, spring onions, grilled LF bread). Very well cooked mussels, sitting in a lovely broth to dip your bread in. Ask for extra bread. But do not ask for extra of that sauce. That was really bad sauce. Sauce work seems to be this place's only weak point. Probably the biggest dish of the night, the Bolognese Bianco (Newman Farms pork & mushroom bolognese, bucatini, gremolata, parmigiano reggiano). This was a really nice pasta dish! Love those big, thicc bucatini noodles. Flavorful bolognese, great texture from the gremolata, and just cheesy enough to make this probably the most complete dish of the night. Then finally the Sea Scallops (ramp soubise, morel mushrooms, house-cured pancetta). Scallops were scored and cooked to look like fine art. Light scallops paired with nice umami from the morels and the pancetta, all tied together by that nice soubise. You don't see that very often either. We ended the meal with a Sticky Toffee Pudding (apple & date cake, apple brandy toffee, crème chantilly, marcona almond tuile). Chef's kiss. Such a delicate sponge with a nice date flavor. Then boom, the sweet boozy toffee, the creamy chantilly, the texture from the tuile. Every element helped make this a great dessert to end a great meal. Overall, another very pleasant surprise. This was a very good dinner, and I'll definitely come back if I'm ever in St. Louis again.
