Recommend visiting for service, food, and drinks! From your first walk in, you're greeted with a warm welcome and immediately can observe the team atmosphere. The food was delicious! Everything is cooked to order so you'll have to be patient but it'll be worth the wait! For brunch you can get 2 for 1 mimosas but also the rum punch is amazing. I've heard they have great weekday specials so I'll definitely be returning for that.

I was in St. Louis for a conference and wanted to find good food while supporting a Black-owned business--Wine Down Cafe checked both boxes perfectly. I stopped by on a pretty chill night with only a few other diners in the restaurant. There's plenty of seating for dining, plus a full bar if you're just in the mood for drinks. The server was great - she was very personable and made sure I had everything I needed. I loved the local welcoming vibe and the service was great. I loved that the owner was in the back cooking and everyone made it a point to ensure I was happy with my meal. The menu has a ton of delicious options, which made it hard to choose. I went with the mac and cheese lollipops and the burger with fries. The lollipops were delicious - fried to perfection and bursting with flavor. As for the burger? It was a pleasant surprise! I love testing burgers at different restaurants to see if they measure up to my favorites, and this one was definitely a contender. It was really good and I would definitely come back to have another along with the mac and cheese lollipops. I capped off my meal with their rum punch, which got a big smile from my server when I ordered it. I asked her why, and she said, "Everyone loves the rum punch"--and she wasn't wrong. It was strong, flavorful, and hit the spot. She also mentioned their weekend brunch, which now has me wanting to plan another visit to St. Louis just to try it. Overall, the food was wonderful, and the service was great. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're ever in St. Louis. I know I'll be back to explore more of their menu. :)

One of the most consistently tasty restaurants in St. Louis!! I absolutely love Wine Down Cafe. Be sure to check out this hidden gem. Everything on the menu is delicious and you can tell that it's made with love!

When we arrived at the building it wasn't too packed so I was a little hesitant. We were in the area and I wanted to try something new. I was glad I went with my gut because that food was beyond me. Man so flavorful! They had plenty of tables and a really nice patio outside to eat on. The waitress explained the menu well, gave suggestions and even told us about the daily specials they have. On Saturdays and Sundays they have brunch but Saturdays mimosas are BOGO so I didn't complain! I tried the pomegranate and pina colada. Both were extremely tasty. For food we tried: Omelet, potatoes, brisket, eggs, toast, bacon and pancakes. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Excited to return!

We were looking for a place to take my mom for brunch for her birthday. I know many people who enjoy this place. So why not. I called Saturday to make a reservation. When we arrived Sunday I wasn't quite sure why. Unless they're used to having an influx of people. It's a decent space in South City. I'd perused the menu prior and was set on salmon croquettes and biscuits. The server starts taking our orders and I was IMMEDIATELY disappointed that they were out of biscuits. I thought about switching my entire meal but stuck with salmon croquets with a side of toast. While we waited for our food we enjoyed the music they had playing. 80's R&B. Nice touch. Our food arrives and again I'm disappointed on sight. I don't like deep fried croquets. Flat top cook them or in a skillet. UGH My toast arrived without butter. By the time the butter arrived my toast was cold. My eggs were cooked PERFECTLY as I requested. YES! That doesn't happen often for me. SCORE! I broke the croquets up. Being deep fried it's difficult to really enjoy them. Also, they could've used a little more flavor. My potatoes were ok. The toast was toasted perfectly. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their food. There were 5 of us in my party. Everyone had something different. It served its purpose of celebrating my mom. I heard their wings are good. I Love some good wings. Maybe I'll go back and try those.

Very glad we found this family-owned restaurant! To say that these folks aim to please would be an understatement! My wife and I had their smash burger special, some rum fun drinks, wine and dessert. We wanted to go back as soon as we left. They also have a brunch on Saturday and Sunday...who does that? Wine Down Cafe does and I can't wait to try it.

I was so happy they were able to accommodate a big party. Many thanks to the owner. Had my birthday brunch here and everyone raved about the food - it was amazing. Thanks for the hospitality. Also, iykyk 2 for 1 Mimosas on Saturday!

Fun little place with a nice patio. It was a bit too cold for the patio when we came though. I got the house merlot and it was ok for flavor but served too warm. When it's that warm in the bar, you really need to keep the red wine colder. I'd rather it be too cold that too warm personally. The chicken teriyaki bowl was pretty good. Needed some salt in the rice and a tad more seasoning on the veggies. Unfortunately the chicken was on the edge of being tried out. When you dice them up like that before you cook the breast, it doesn't need that long to cook. You can get around this by marinating them ahead of time too or cooking the breast whole and dicing it up afterwards. The server was really nice and inciting. Overall a great stop and if more convenient for us, we'd be back.

You must-visit this spot. It is truly a hidden jam. I believe it is fairly new. The food was delicious. The service was excellent. The location was great. The music was great. This place has a nice relaxing atmospherer. I will eat here again.

Wonderful place near Carondelet Park! The server was very friendly! She told us all about the great specials they run all week like 2 for 1 drinks and discounts on the burger. They also have a brunch menu on the weekend. For dinner, I ordered a glass of the Lambrusco wine and the salmon bowl. The wine was fantastic! It was very reasonably priced and a huge pour. The salmon was outstanding! It was cooked to utter perfection and cooked way better than most every restaurant I've been too. It was so moist and falling apart. It had good seasoning so I didn't need the Yum sauce it came with, but decided to try it with the sauce anyway. The Yum sauce was like a spicy aioli and it was so good too. The veggies were amazing - perfectly charred and seasoned. The rice was yellow in color (assuming maybe turmeric seasoning was used to get it this color?). It was cooked well, but lacked a bit of seasoning. My husband ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl, so I borrowed some of his teriyaki sauce and put it on the rice then it was fantastic. The teriyaki sauce was very good! He said his bowl was good, but the chicken was a bit overcooked. We'd probably both get the salmon bowl next time with a side of teriyaki sauce for the rice:)

Decided to give this place a try after church with the kiddos. There's plenty of parking rather it's in the front or the side of the building. We where a table of seven and was greeted and sat immediately as we walked in. The ambiance was giving neighborhood cafe. I tried the wine down mimosa and it was strong. Once we received our food the table went quiet lol everything was DELICIOUS. The bartender also made me some amazing lemon drops. Definitely will try it again but next time just the adults.

Nice restaurant with an ever relaxed atmosphere. The service was good and food came out fast. We started with the Philly egg rolls which were fantastic. You can eat them with the sauce or with. It comes with four and they will go fast. For my meal I had the spicy chicken sandwich. It was not super spicy, just the right amount. The fries were fantastic, try the Cajun if you can.

Six pm on a Tuesday, the bar was not busy. We asked server if we could sit at a table that had not been cleared since all the other tables in the area had "reserved" signs on them. The server told us "you can when I get to clearing it" so we sat at the bar understanding that it wasn't going to be any time soon. Fine, no big deal. The bartender wasn't too friendly, but again not a big deal- until the last person ordering asked for a chocolate martini. Nope. He couldn't do it- something about it wouldn't be good, then that he didn't have the ingredients. Fair enough but his delivery was super rude. The person ordering doesn't drink much else, so looked at the menu and settled on a modified espresso martini. Everyone else was drinking wine- all was good. We let him know we were going to be splitting the bill 4 ways. He came back and we ordered 4 small plates to share to start- but forgot to ask for fries- we tried 3 times to get his attention- fourth time was the charm when he brought plates and silverware to us. The food was good, that's the saving grace for this review. The server came back around to let us know the table was ready halfway through our first round of food. We already knew the employees weren't going to get any nicer if we asked to move, so we stayed put. A couple sat down next to us and the bartender fawned all over them- brought the manager out twice to meet with them as well. We ordered more food. But he never got friendlier or more attentive to our group- we didn't take it personally especially when two other men sat down next to us and he also treated them with disdain. We flagged him down when we were done and asked again to split the bill evenly. He muttered something the said something else about already having separate checks for our drinks. He came back with the split the food evenly besides our drinks- fine. We all agreed this wasn't good service - but we're not going to not tip him! We all tipped between 15-20%. As we walked to the door, we saw him look at each of the receipts, then threw down the booklets. The whole restaurant turned. We waited for him to look at us at the door- But he didn't. He acted like a child. And you know who's Wales around the bar to pick up the booklets? The server who gave us attitude first. Felt bad for her. Will never be back.

That's the vibe. We started on the front patio on a Friday night and quickly realized we'd made a mistake. The doors to the interior were open and the music -- a rock-forward playlist that night -- was loud enough that we considered bailing. Our server, was unbothered when we asked to move up to the rooftop. Where we met with a new bartender and server, London, who rolled with it, got us resettled, and from that point on the night was great. London was clearly handling the bar and most of the rooftop tables, but she was attentive throughout, and made eye contact, which seems a near miracle from many 20-something these days. Bumping the score up just for the flexibility on the table move alone. The food: crab cakes were genuinely good, not life-changing, but well above the weak-crab-cake bar that exists in most of the world, served simply with capers and a small salad. I went off-script and ordered the wagyu burger medium rare with fontina (London mentioned cheddar is the more common pick, but the Fontina offerd a great alternative). The burger was deeply flavorful and cooked exactly right, but here's my one real note for the kitchen: toast the brioche bun. Wagyu medium-rare puts out a lot of juice, and an untoasted bun loses its structural integrity about three bites in. A quick toast would let the bun keep some additional integrate and keep up with the perfectly cooked beef. The pom buff were great, the best elevated patato tots you may come by. Beyond what we ordered, the Greek salad is a longtime go-to -- chopped, with grape leaves and pita, available in a small or large, and easily dressed up into a light meal with or without adding some protein or can be share as a self-dress bruschetta appetizer for the group if you ask for extra bread. The cheese boards are also a reliable pick. The wine list is extensive (it's a wine bar, after all), but they don't sniff at cocktails -- I had a solid fine old fashioned, and my wife shared had a Malbec that paired well with everything. Lots of gluten-free options across the menu, too. What Sasha's gets right is that it has refused to become precious. "Wine bar" reads as pretentious to some people, but this place runs as a neighborhood spot. You'll see college kids dressed way down, couples on dates dressed way up, Hawaiian shirts, oversized sweaters, the full range. It's the kind of place where you can split a bottle with your girlfriends, meet a date for drinks and a quick bite without committing to a full dinner, or roll in for brunch on the weekend. Different times of day, different vibes -- always approachable. 4.7 stars. Loses a few tenths for the front-patio music situation and the weak burger bun, but more than makes up for it on flexibility, food, and overall hang factor.

After explaining we'd just be there briefly for a drink, we were allowed to sit there, but the interaction felt dismissive. From that point on, the experience felt rushed. We were pushed to order quickly, our menus were taken right away, and the check came almost immediately. It made what should have been a relaxed stop feel uncomfortable and transactional. I understand how busy restaurants can get, especially on nice days, but a little more consideration and courtesy would have gone a long way.

Livery Company has a fabulous outdoor space, and when I say "fabulous," I mean it feels like you're hanging out in someone's backyard, except you are at a bar. It was about 55-60 degrees on this particular Saturday, so pretty chilly, but we still very much enjoyed ourselves around the big bonfire that was burning, because we were surrounded by both people we knew, and people who were welcoming even though we were new. The entire vibe of Livery Company is divey-inclusive-comforting, and I think that's the highest compliment I can give. I'm SO glad we were invited to this particular space during a very quick trip to STL. Thank you for existing, Livery Company.

Quintessential Dive Bar!…read more When you look up South City Dive Bar on Google, Livery Company on South Broadway should be the first one on the list. Everything about it makes it the quintessential South City dive bar. Emily Ebeling has been a city business owner for quite some time. She first opened Livery Company on Cherokee Street, and her clientele grew quickly. Years after she closed that location, the South Broadway has just as much appeal as its predecessor. Cheap bar and unique music. What else can you ask for? LC hosts artists from different genres, but mostly singer-songwriters. They have a monthly songwriters showcase where local musicians share brand new works. I have met some very cool people and now have more talented friends than ever, all because of Livery's commitment to local artists. And the beer is cheap. Yes, they had me at cheap beer. You can get domestic cans for two dollars each, and many of the craft beers are four dollars. I can drink all night on less than a twenty dollar bill. That has dive bar written all over it. And cash only. I am a huge fan. Establishments that welcome diversity and celebrate local talent are well-appreciate. Cheers to Livery Company!
