Went for a gathering with about 20 friends. The evening started well. Good selection of wines, a few draft beers and food. Pizza and gyros were excellent. Lots of room outs. Then the "music" started. Way too loud for the space. Couldn't hear anything over the noise. We all moved inside which was better, but ever y time the door opened it was flooded with noise. We had always wanted to stop in here, and finally we did. The first thought I had was that I should've come sooner. It's beautiful on the inside, and there's plenty of room. Lots of wood decor and plenty of cozy tables for friends or date. They have a great wine list, and we enjoyed a couple of glasses. We were served by the owner and really enjoyed the conversation. I visited on a Saturday for lunch. They were switching over their menu items so it was a slightly more limited menu, but still easy to find a good choice! My sister and I both decided on the BBQ Beef Sando with broccoli salad as well as the spicy pimento cheese appetizer. Both the entree and appetizer were delicious, the real star of the show was the broccoli salad! Heads up, they mean it on the spicy with the pimento cheese but for me it was the perfect amount of spice! The space itself goes with the rest of the charm that is Main Street in Waterloo with exposed brick and the overall Hallmark small town vibe. They have a large space in the back where I have attended multiple events and it is even more enjoyable in the summer time. I have never had issues with the service here as others have noted in reviews, the bar staff have always been kind! This is a place worth visiting! read more

Vintage Wine Bar is a very laid-back, casual spot. When we visited, we saw quite a few families with children, and adults of all ages. Most folks were very casually dressed - nothing stuffy about this place! The front part of the building is rustic, and it gets more rustic as you walk through various rooms; we ended up with seats in a big open room that felt much like a barn (but without the smell of livestock.) There was no table service; we went to the bar for food and drinks. Food menu is more like brewpub food than anything curated for wine pairings - lots of pizza, sandwiches, nachos, and Buffalo sauce. Our food was fine and unremarkable. The list of by-the-glass wines is not extensive (six white, six red, etc) and heavy on California and South America - in fact, all reds were from those regions. The bottle list is more diverse. Their slushy cocktails seem popular, and they have a few house cocktails as well. Beer list included some nice local craft beer, which went well with our pizza and bruschetta. The staff was friendly and welcoming and we had a good time. The Wine Bar is a nice complement to other Waterloo spots, and it's open a bit later than the nearby breweries. read more

Thursday night Open Mic Night is a blast. Great service, fun entertainment and the beer is always cold. They have a great outdoor seating area so the music is not too loud and you can always go inside if you need air conditioning or another drink. We really enjoy it! Food is great, music is fantastic, venue is beautiful. Our retirement party was even there. We love their work with community , from House of Neighborly Service to Human Suppirt Services, to events that give their customers a reason to come gave a great time. Wine bar is a must if you're in Waterloo! My friends and I all absolutely love the environment, drinks, food, and staff. It feels like you're in a nice Soulard bar rather than in the middle of Waterloo. The Buffalo chicken pizza, Jive Turkey, Hummus, and Buffalo bread are my top food recommendations! As far as drinks go, you must try the Brother Almond if you like tequila! Absolutely amazing. The bartender, Steve, is phenomenal and personable with everyone. He also makes the best drinks. A must stop when in downtown Waterloo. A great rustic bar with a unique interior and back patio. We ordered drinks at the inside bar and went straight outside where there was live music on a Sunday afternoon. Great variety of wine and beer as well as a few speciality cocktails offered. There's definitely something for everybody! We chose Wine Slushies and would definitely recommend at least getting one, if not two! They were offering pizzas only when we stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. However a menu we saw on the bar saw other items such as small plates/appetizers - not sure when/if those items are available. Pizzas descriptions looked good however we just stopped in for drinks. Unique bar that you should definitely make a stop next time you're in Waterloo. If you did not hear the story of this place, you would not believe that this bar was not original. The floor, ceiling and beams were rescued from three barns in Kentucky. The owners and their families spent the last year of their lives pouring themselves into the Vintage Wine Bar. It just opened, but I did not feel any kinks of newness. When you walk into this place you feel like you've entered a completely different time and space. Much of the interior was refurbished from old barns, giving it a very rustic atmosphere. Wide selection of good, quality wines by the glass or bottle and very affordable. In addition to the wines, they also have a decent selection of domestic heavies (Bud, Bud Light, Stag, Miller Lite) but also a decent selection of smaller craft brews like 4 Hands, Little Sumpin', Founders, and Samuel Smith. This is an awesome place to spend an afternoon/ early evening on the patio. The decor is very nice with exposed beams, brick, and stone. I love this little place. It has a great atmosphere on the inside and I'm sure the outside is nice too. When we were there they were in process of adding a separate set of bathrooms outside. Fabulous wine selections and even better bottle prices. Their red blend options are impressive and also have those sweet wines for your hummingbird friends. Had a cheese, meat, fruit plate which offered a nice mix and a buffalo chicken flatbread. The flatbread was more of a personal size pizza, but the flavors made it worth it! The ambience takes you to another world in downtown waterloo with the exposed brick and old wooden logs throughout.
