While it was festive, the Christmas décor wasn't as extensive as I expected for a pop-up, and the drink menu didn't feel much different from their regular offerings. The food was decent. The Brussels sprouts were a standout, along with the garlic aioli fries. The French dip, however, was disappointing and lacked flavor. Service was excellent, and the bartenders were both friendly and attentive. Drinks and food were quite expensive, but we appreciated receiving a complimentary dessert for the birthday. What a gem to find in a strip mall. This is cute wine bar with a rustic feel. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The Cellar House sells wine and beer but also mixed drinks. We had the French dip which was wonderful with crispy French bread melted cheese and tender sliced beef. The dish also comes with fries. They have a great happy hour. Everyone who worked there was wonderful from the person who sat us, to the waiter and bartender. They friendly, warm and professional. This is wonderful place. Lovely little hidden gem off Telegraph. You'll definitely want a reservation because this place is tiny and always packed. The ambiance is beautiful and cozy. You'd think the patio might feel lacking of that since it's essentially in the middle of a parking lot, but it doesn't at all. It's fenced in and surprisingly charming. Going for drinks and a few apps is my favorite move (the goat cheese especially is a must). Great wines and cocktails. The food overall is decent, but the portion sizes are just right. The owner decorates the space so adorably and magically for the holidays, so be sure to visit then for the full festive experience. Wow! This is a hidden gem, but not hidden because it was a full house. This little ruby sits just in front of a Dierbergs and shopping plaza - not where I'd expect to find such fine dining. We made 7pm reservations the day before, and good thing we did. I'm not sure if walk-ins welcome or not. They did have a bar, so maybe one could stroll in and sit at the bar. My friend had been here before (multiple times) and ordered the apps for us as they were her staples. We also had ordered our dinners and let the waiter know we didn't need them right away; however, the kitchen was working quickly or just on top of everything, and the meals came out before we'd finished our apps. I loved my power bowl, and would definitely return for it soon. It's a meal I think about randomly to be honest. My friend said her salmon was more rare than she personally prefers but I think that's more a matter of preference than a knock on the kitchen. The space is tight, small, but yet you're still able to have private conversations at a reasonable volume. It's surprising that such a small place doesn't get loud. Our waitress was amazing and had impressively done eye makeup :) I wish I remembered her name. I went with two of my best friends for dinner last night (Saturday). We had a reservation for the patio since the weather was so nice. I had the Miss Ma'am (or some similar name) cocktail, then Sauvignon blanc, then Pinot Grigio. All were great. We split the brussel sprouts (done perfectly!) and the tomato salad. I got the chicken flatbread, and they got the gnocchi, one with chicken and one with tuna. We luckily saved room for dessert: we got two bread puddings and a blueberry streusel. We all enjoyed every dish! I think it's cool they do events (I saw on Sep 23rd they're doing 4 courses of wine with food pairings for $100 pp) which is enticing. Had this on the want to go list for some time. Finally made it. Neat little restaurant that's a bit of a hidden gem. Small location. Quiet with a great seasonal menu. Wait staff was very welcoming and knowledgeable of the menu. We ordered wine and entrees. The serving size was appropriate and not too much. We asked for a special dessert. My last review was for their former location, so it's about time I updated it! Cellar House is a fancy casual restaurant. You can walk in wearing leggings or jeans, and still expect a fine dining experience. No matter what, you're treated like a member of their family that's been expected for dinner. You wouldn't normally expect Oakville to have apps like Baked Goat Cheese, Butternut Squash Soup & Latkes. But MAAAAAN are they doing it right! Their entrees are also pretty spectacular: Turkey Pot Pie, Braised Lamb Shank, 10oz Ribeye & French Dip Sandwich My partner and I shared the soup and we mentioned this in passing to our server when ordering. They delivered the soup in 2 different bowls. Absolutely unexpected but so much appreciated. It's the little touches like this that make us want to tell everyone about them. Save room for dessert: it was a toss up between the Balsamic Blackberry Pie or Brioche Bread Pudding with egg nog custard, tart cherries, white chocolate & salted caramel. I had a reservation at 7:15 at The Cellar House and was immediately impressed by the warm, inviting atmosphere. We were seated a few minutes early, around 7:10, which was great -- but that's where the good service ended. We waited nearly 10 minutes before anyone came by to greet us or take a drink order. Our server, Aaron, eventually stopped by, took our drink order, and brought them out quickly. So far, so good. We ordered not long after -- I got the roast beef sandwich, and my partner went with the rotisserie chicken. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, so we expected the food to come out in a reasonable time. Instead, we waited. And waited. By 7:50, we could clearly see our food sitting under the heat lamps, untouched. Our server had disappeared, and although we watched staff walk past the food several times, no one brought it to our table until 8:00. When it finally arrived, the food was a mixed bag. My roast beef sandwich tasted great, but the meat was barely warm, while the sauce was oddly piping hot -- clearly it had been under the lamp too long. The fries were stale and lifeless. My partner's chicken was steaming hot, but the asparagus was cold, and the mashed potatoes were just lukewarm. What made this more frustrating was the complete lack of attention from our server. Aaron checked in just four times during the entire meal: to take our drink order, then our food order, once to ask how the food was after we finally got it, and lastly to drop the bill. It's disappointing because the food had real potential. The flavors were there, but the execution and service fell flat. For a place where entrées run about $20 or more, the experience didn't match the price. I'd recommend trying somewhere else unless they seriously tighten up their service. read more

November 2010, Bottle Cellars opened as a small wine shop committed to offering quality and affordable wines. Over time, it expanded its offerings to include cheese, whiskey, and craft beer. As demand grew, a cozy patio emerged, along with the introduction of wines by the glass and simple cheese and charcuterie boards. However, the desire for more from both customers and proprietors led to the birth of Cellar House in 2015--an adjacent wine bar. In 2020, time to grow again but now they have to move to their now home at 5634 Telegraph Road, just a mile from the original spot. What a great place for a romantic date! My wife and I came here and split appetizers and had a couple of drinks. The Captain Henry and Charles Eu de Vie were a nice balance of flavors, and had custom engraved ice! The baked goat cheese is amazing and a must have! Great flavors and textures. I'm trying to figure out how to replicate it at home! The smoked cauliflower was nicely balanced and very tasty. The tempura shrimp were huge! There was a sweet side sauce with them that I wish was spicy, but still good. Our server was wonderful. He kept joking with us and made some great recommendations. We always love this place so when our friends said wine dinner, we said sure without really looking over the menu. As it turned out, it was good but not our favorite by any means. This dinner was 4 course with wine pairings from Stone Hill. We are not huge fans of many of the Missouri wines but as it turns out we loved the cream sherry we had in last pairing. Ordered 2 bottles of that for home. They also offered Blanc de Blancs (bubbles which I don't care for), Chambourcin and their Cross J Norton. Food was good but just not my favorite menu. That's my fault for agreeing to go without looking at options. I will say I am not usually a brisket lover but I did love the way it was made on this night. Overall I wish they gave a more substantial food earlier in evening because I was starving even after 2 courses and I was hesitant to drink anymore wine on an empty stomach. This place is a gem! This is my first visit and the ambiance was incredible. It was private, moody, yet elegant. We started off with two appetizers, the brussel sprouts with polenta in the goat cheese with the pita triangles. They blew my mind! I will be ordering these anytime I'm in the area just for pickup and eating them in the parking lot. They are that good. My friend got a couple drinks that I tried that were expertly crafted. And our entrees were delightful. We convinced the head chef / manager to let us take some of the desserts to go even though it wasn't her preferred presentation. Met up with several friends on a Thursday night. We sat out on the patio which was nice but extremely loud for a patio. I would have given a 5. However, I thought the menu was overpriced. I ordered the Power Bowl which was $22. You could add shrimp, chicken, trout or tuna for an additional cost which would have brought the dish close to or over $30. I nice selection of cocktails. But, again one cocktail cost around $13. No thank you. Pricing aside, the food was delicious. My Powerbowl was packed with wheat berry, bok choy, purple cabbage, mushrooms broccoli, edamame and topped with slices of avocado. Service was okay. Finally cashed in on my Birthday Dinner (even though I paid for it) Decided to try Cellar House off Telegraph. If you aren't paying attention you will drive right by it!! We didn't have a reservation but we were seated right away. It was suggested that normally reservations are need but the Saturday before Easter they are slower. My drink Bogart's Courage was good but definitely a sipping drink and you have to like Bourbon and Banana! Highly recommend the Shaved Roasted Brussels sprouts on a bed of White Chdder Polenta as a starter or as a meal. My NY Strip was cooked perfectly or close to it. I prefer a bit more done but the Hollandaise sauce was so good as well as the Garlic Aioli for my "Pomme Frites" My hubby got the Mushroom Risotto with a chicken breast but you really don't need the chicken (xtra $$) I did save room for the Bread Pudding topped with Corn Flakes! Been to Cellar House several times as I live nearby; however, it is worth traveling to wherever you live in St. Louis. Always a very warm ambiance and top shelf liquor and beer, but let the bartenders make you something. Despite shuffling through a few chefs, Cellar House continues to put out delicious and creative seasonal menus with a few staples. I had to provide a review (finally) because the ribeye I had last Saturday night was one of the best I've had and I generally avoid ribeye because it's too fatty. This one was not only trimmed properly but also seasoned and cooked to perfection. Had it with the herb garlic and parm fries and garlic green beans and it was phenomenal! We actually got carry out tonight. They do it so well! It's beautiful when you get it home! Their menu is so innovative. The shrimp and grits have to be the best I've ever had including in NOLA. The seasonal salads are so good. Every season they hit the mark with the flavors you're looking for. The happy hour burger is amazing! All proteins are cooked with care and to perfection. Sides always compliment the proteins beautifully. I can't say enough about how much I love this place every time we go. Today was our first carry out and it was a fantastic experience. I'd been wanting to try this place for over a year and finally made it. Met up with some friends and sat outside on the patio. First of all, every single cocktail and food item that I tried was absolutely DELICIOUS. But for the prices, the service didn't match up well. Somebody's entree was dropped from the initial order and the waiter that took the order never came back to find that out, or ask if everything was okay. They didn't have one of the 3 starters that we ordered to share between two of us, but we weren't told about this until all the food was brought out (except for that dish). I feel we should have been told as soon as the order went in, so that we could pick something else. I had to chase the waiter down to request another cocktail, but he forgot it. We were seated next to a large group that was loud, so had trouble hearing conversation at our own table. Maybe tables should be spread out more? I don't know if that's necessarily the restaurant's fault, but... The food and drinks measured up to the prices, but the service didn't. read more

A group of us on an out of state work trip came here for dinner on our last day. We were looking for something local and delicious. Oddly, we received this recommendation in the beer aisle the day before in a Schnuck's grocery store from a chatty local guy. First - make a reservation before! It is an intimate, but lovely place. We ended up able to reserve a corner of the bar top. Second - go before happy hour ends at 6 PM. There are some excellent choices on the happy hour menu. Third - check out their seasonal offerings on the menu. While the typical ones like Brussels sprouts and cheese dip are INCREDIBLE, the seasonal offerings are out of this world. The plate presentation for this place is top notch as well. Our group tried a little of everything including the cheesecake and chocolate cake dessert options. Everyone enjoyed their meals and raved about the flavors and presentations. Some of the offerings aren't your normal fare (e.g. red snapper tacos) but are worth getting! Fourth - the staff are fun! We had a great bartender who took care of us and gave specific recommendations. The owner is also around and visited us a few times to drop food and check in. We liked the food at Cellar House, but disliked the experience. I guess you could argue that the food was more important. Three of us went for a friend's birthday celebration on a Wednesday evening. Cellar House is in Dierberg's Plaza on Telegraph Road in south St. Louis County, and it was nicely decorated for the holiday season. We thought that the ambience was uncomfortably claustrophobic, and the place was packed. The tables were so close together that every time the server went to the table next to ours, he stuck his butt in my face. We found it difficult to have a conversation over dinner because of the noise. Our server and the staff in general were pleasant, but the service was a little slow because of the sheer number of customers in the place. We found the menu to be interesting but somewhat pretentious for a neighborhood restaurant. For example, they called mashed potatoes "pomme puree". On the positive side, there were several gluten-free choices. The food was well-prepared, well-presented, and tasty. I enjoyed the ham sliders with "pomme frites" (french fries), which were among the best I ever had. My companions both had the pork porterhouse (large pork chop), and really enjoyed it. It was tender, nicely seasoned, and cooked to perfection. Our server gave our birthday girl a free dessert, even though none of us ordered dessert. The owners have apparently found a niche to provide upscale casual dining in south County, because the place is very popular. You can't argue with success.
