Press Pizza & Pasta was such a great find! The food was amazing. We ordered the Tagliatelle, Pappardelle, Bucatini, and the Toasted Raviolo pizza. Everything was delicious! I'd say it's definitely a "sharing" spot, which I love, perfect for a group of friends, but also great for solo entrées since the portions work either way. During my visit, there was a bit of a delay: our pizza dish took longer than our pastas, but our server handled it really well and stayed super sweet throughout. So, it didn't take away too much from the experience. Overall, this place is a hidden gem. I was surprised it wasn't busier, considering how great the food and service were. Just a heads-up: parking can be really tricky since it's neighborhood street parking, so if you get lucky, you get lucky. Definitely worth a visit! read more

Lived walking distance from press for about a year now. I have procrastinating on paying a visit for too long! It did not disappoint. I love love love me some carbonara. Theirs is top tier, and quite inventive. First, some pillows gnocchis are latching onto the savory, salty carbonara sauce. A bit of grate ricotta(i think) and egg yolk garnish this bad boy. Tons of textures colliding so every bite is an adventure of flavor and love. They tout handmade pastas, and some stuffed pizzas. Some girlfriends and I stopped in after an event at the art museum ... maybe 7:45ish and they were able to seat us right away. The space is adorable and a wider shotgun style layout with a bar on the left with some seating + a right side of bench seats, tables. Our server was very friendly, brought us water, and let us mull over the menu for a few minutes while we got settled. We started with the prosciutto and burrata appetizer ... with various pickled veggies and a delicious flatbread. Mmmmmm. Four ladies ordered pasta (x3 for the ravioli) and another tried the mafalda. The ravioli was incredible. It's rare to find something with gjetost, and it was SO good. It may have been on a limited winter menu, but gaaaah dang so good. Served in a broth - a perfect dish. I opted for the chicken carbonara pizza. Also insanely good. I ordered an Old Fashioned and it may be the best one I've ever had. So good I ordered a second. Other cocktails looked equally enjoyable. Wow. Why this place isn't PACKED right now amazes me. Folks, this is THE REAL DEAL. Everything--and I mean EVERYTHING--was beyond phenomenal. We started with the Caprese salad, and it was the best that my husband has ever had , according to him. I was equally blown away by the freshness of the mozzarella and the perfect blend of flavors. We then had the Ozark Forest mushroom pizza and the bucatini pasta for our entrée. Both were perfection. Finished with the panna cotta, and it was to die for. We live right around the corner and this has been on my list for awhile but my husband just isn't usually a pizza guy. I FINALLY convinced him and omg. I'm sad it took us so long to try it! The bar is awesome and the location is very clean and simple. The service was great all night. I love the open kitchen so you can see everything going on. We hesitated about the draft cocktails and the price associated with them but they explained how the bartender hand mixes them and they are super high quality. I got the Wisconsin OF and it was amazing. Their wine and beer prices are super fair. Now the food. My only complaint is I didn't get to try pizza and pasta because the pizza was so filling! But it was phenomenal. We got the toasted ravioli and it truly tasted like a toasted ravioli. They LOAD them with toppings - meats, sauces, veggies. You get what you pay for and we will definitely be back to try some more options. I still want to try the pasta. So good, very casual. Great option for a Friday evening dinner. Not a ton of seating but we went around 5:30pm and it was a great time to get there on Friday. The service was great. There was one woman brilliantly working all the tables. The garlic cheese bread is the best I've ever had. I'd order it every time. The two drinks were great especially the peach slushy. The pasta is made in house and it was incredible. We got the bucatini and it was sooo good. The Ozark Mushrooms pizza was very good too. It is a real achievement to be restaurant that's so bad it brings someone out of yearslong Yelp retirement. Press Pizza and Pasta is another overhyped, overpriced St. Louis gimmick restaurant that's long on viral advertising and short on substance. Their instagram-famous "stuffed pizza" - which is actually just pizza dough that's been run over with a panini press and packed with a purported grab bag of toppings - is not good at all. We got both their #1 favorite toasted rav flavor, as well as a gimmick big mac stuffed pizza just for laughs. The toasted rav pizza purports itself to have a "beef bolognese + mozarella + ricotta" filling. In reality, it was just stuffed with a tasteless and gray ground beef mixture. The mozarella and ricotta were nowhere to be seen. What was seen, however, were dollops of a ranch-like substance and minced chives on the crust. This flavor combination just did not work. The interior tasted like old reheated beef, the crust resembled a loaded baked potato skin at TGI fridays. None of that radiated toasted ravioli energy, except that in both instances the creation was the result of a fuckup somewhere. The Big Mac pizza was slightly better, by dint of being actually resembling a deconstructed Big Mac in both flavor and presentation. Unfortunately, like the toasted rav pizza the Big Mac suffered from cold beef that felt reheated and underseasoned. McDonalds has a standard issue dispenser that deposits one carefully calibrated unit of salt and pepper seasoning on their patties. Why can't a highly bespoke and artisanal off-cherokee gentrifier haunt do the same? Pricing is a major problem at Press. A small 10" pizza that might fill up one standard sized american costs $22. You can go to sauce on the side, get basically the same concept (what is a calzone but a stuffed pizza?) for $13 and have it packed with delicious, high quality, and judiciously crafted flavor combinations. Unless for some reason you enjoy evaporating your money into hipster hideouts like Press Pizza, stay away. read more

I wouldn't compare it to a panini, either. The outside crust was soft, chewy, and flavorful. I would definitely eat it by itself. There are toppings and stuffing. I got the butternut squash seasonal special and it was so good!! The squash tasted fresh and was seasoned so well. It was a little sweet, the tiniest amount of spicy, and a lot cheesy. It was very filling and I planned to save some for leftovers but ended up eating it all because it was so good. I wouldn't say it was overly filling, like I wasn't stuffed but I was full for a very long time afterward. The inside was pretty nice but in a casual way. A bit plain. We picked up the food and brought it home. I reheated it when I got home and the quality was just as good to me. My only qualm is with the pricing. Our bill was a little over $80 (before tip) for 4 people. The quality made it worth the price, but its not a meal I could afford regularly. Essentially, there are 2 pizza crusts stuffed with filling, sealed, and then topped with more fresh ingredients and sauces. It's not quite a pizza. It's not quite a calzone. It's not quite a quesadilla. It's not quite a panini. We tried the Potato pizza. It reminded us of a pierogi with the stretchy dough and almost mashed potato-like texture inside. It's incredibly cheesy! The star of the dish for me was the frisée salad on top. Whatever magic they put into the dressing, they need to bottle and sell! We also ordered the Al Pastor Hawaiian because, as we can ALL agree, pineapple belongs on pizza. It's stuffed with the seasoned pork and cheese and topped with perfectly caramelized pineapple tidbits, cilantro, and crema. Most recently, they started Pasta Night on Sundays. Bread is served after you order. That makes it worth a visit alone. All their pasta is made in house, so you can taste the freshness and care they put into each dish.
