Sugo's is owned by one of St Louis most well known restaurant families, the Del Peitro's. Michael created this restaurant. It's good quality Italian food in a quaint area of Frontenac. I had the bolognese. It has a burrata in the middle which mixes really well with the sauce. I ate every bite. My wife got the lasagna. No way could she eat this massive slice towering five inches off her plate and over six inches long. It's a meal for two or three! The restaurant was pretty full but the service was fast and friendly. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to get to Sugo's but it's close to my house and a regular favorite spot. read more

This was my first time dining at Sugo's and I was impressed. I was invited for a family dinner and wasn't sure what to expect based on the reviews. I loved the spaghetti & meatballs, which I hadn't ordered at a restaurant in awhile, but I figured I should try their namesake dish. The meatballs were huge, but so tasty I couldn't help but finish the dish. We had a Caesar salad to start, which was nice and easily fed 2 of us. Service was quick despite our large party. We have been a going to Sugos for well over 6/7 years. On June 7th 2026, we ordered a take out order (which we've done many times) we had out of town guests all weekend and were expecting someone else that evening, so we of course, wanted to provide a nice meal for them. To say the food was sub par is an understatement. I understand that every kitchen has an off night, but this was beyond terrible. I immediately called the restaurant to let them know but was put off by the manager stating that he would have the GM call me the next day. Guess what? No call. I called again myself and left a message. Again, no call. Sugo's is so efficient. I have gone on a lunch hour on multiple occasions. I usually ask for the check with the food and they bring it, but I think that they'd have served me and closed me out in plenty of time even if I didn't. Plenty of space inside for seating. At least two big rooms, I think. And some seating on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. It's a perfect place to eat on a pretty day. The best thing is the food, though. I generally get the spaghetti with tomato sauce. It's delicious! It comes with meat, but they hold the meat AND they discount the dish. Most places won't discount a dish. You know when you plan for a dinner location and it does not take reservations. Yes the wait list. We planned to try Circle 7 Ranch but since there was a wait list we decided to have a cocktail before going to the restaurant. It turned out that there was a 90 minute wait at Circle 7. This brought us back to Sugo's a restaurant we had picked several months ago to try with my wife's college friend and husband. Sugo's has a wait list too, but we called to see how long was the wait. The wait was 15 minutes!. Perfect we finished our cocktails and grabbed our coats Sugo's being a Del Pietro's restaurant we were in for a treat and was not disappointed. Italian restaurants are a challenge for my wife and her garlic allergy, but most will work with her and some can't. Our server was helpful and attentive to my wife's issue. Camille, came back and suggested the grilled salmon and vegetables and everything else had garlic in it. That works. Her grilled salmon was flaky and flavorful and the veggies were crisp. My tagliatelle bolognese was delicious the pasta was tender not soggy and the sauce was rich and flavorful. Our dinner partners both had the hidden menu item off the menu- Chicken Spiedini. They said it was very tasty since it was gone before I could take a picture of it. You cannot go wrong with Sugo's even the bar recommended a great cabernet Sauvignon wine for the meal we were thinking of choosing. Great service from Camille, courteous and professional. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Excellent food and a very open atmosphere to dine in. a good place to people watch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only thing I miss was a canolli at the door when Mary Rose (Mama Del Pietro) would offer as you leave. We really like to come to this restaurant because the food is fresh, well prepared, and the service is great. I would recommend the pasta with vodka sauce, the fettuccine, and any pizza as well as the delicious salads. Unfortunately the eggplant Parmesan was not good. It had several slices of cooked eggplant with some tomato sauce and grated cheese on the side. Ridiculous and not tasty. I called in a carry out order to the wrong Sugo's. All I can say is that Patrick was incredibly gracious and would not take my card information. We corrected our location immediately because I wasn't about to not have Sugo's for supper. I do recommend the food at Sugo's. Definitely ask about the daily specials. They are always delicious. We had a party of seven, they allowed us to sit at what would have been a four top and with the bench seating on one side we made it work easily. No reservations accepted. Food was great. None of us had the same dish, lasagna was a huge portion easily shared. Pizza had quality cheese and was a hit with my daughter who is a pizza connoisseur, she said it rivaled some she had in NYC. I had the seafood risotto and it was delicious but just a little heavier sauce that I prefer but still very enjoyable. I had a business trip in St. louis last week and a group of us went to Sugo's in Frontenac after we agreed on Italian. The server was great and the food was amazing. Their website says they're open until 9pm and at 8:30 they flipped on the bright lights and the boss yelled at everyone in the dining room to leave because they closed at 8:30 and she needed to get the employees off the payroll. This place is a hidden gem. But it may be because I don't venture to Frontenac much. I was here for a work dinner so it was a great segue into trying something new while bonding with my colleagues. Parking is plentiful as they have their own shared parking lot. Service was a bit crunchy at first because they were confused by our group being there along with another group for our same firm being there too. Nevertheless, we were seated and brought out Garlic Foccaccia bread which is a first for me at a restaurant. Usually it's basic bread you dip into some zesty oil. But this place had the zesty bread but basic oil with salt, pepper and parmesan as your only options. Vampires were happy about the oil not having garlic too. I ordered an old fashioned to the shock of my colleagues. It was pretty smooth! My leader ordered Toasted Ravioli for the table and they were so light and airy. The marinara sauce was the best sauce I've ever had in a restaurant. It was very fresh and delicious. If they sold the sauce in jars, I'd buy them! For dinner I ordered the Chicken Spiedini which was super tender. I only took a few bites before asking for a to-go box because I ate way too much bread before it arrived lol. I took a fork or two of someone's lasagna and it was the best I've ever had in my life at a restaurant. It doesn't photograph well but trust me, it's DELICIOUS! I've been here many times and most times have had a very good meal. The service has always been excellent. I have rated from 1 to 5 the various items sampled. Bread: 5, Del Pietro salad: 5+, Egg Plant Parmigiano: 2 (very thin and skin left on), Spaghetti and Meatballs: 2 (watery sauce and meatballs too dense), Bolognese Rigatoni: 4, Cannelloni: 4+, Lasagna: 5, Sugo's pizza: 4. My mother went to finish her glass of wine at the bar at 8:16. We approached the bar from the dining room (not the front door), the brunette bartender immediately yelled "we are closed" in the direction of us. To which I responded I thought you closed at 9, as that is what is posted on the front door as well as internet. She followed up, very argumentatively that they were closing at 8:30 tonight. She then went on in a very inappropriate, aggressive tone that my mother would be permitted to finish her glass of wine, but she really needed to be aware that they (the 4 servers and herself) would be leaving as soon as she was done. While this is going on, the 4 servers are standing at the bar, complaining about the slow service tonight, and the amount of tips left by the customers that did come in. It has a nice ambiance with clean, modern aesthetic and always seems doing a brisk business, but noise levels are controlled enough that you can carry out a conversation at your table even when it's packed.
