This is a great spot to enjoy live music and a drink. There was a lady playing the piano with a wonderful voice, and guests were also taking turns singing -- so much talent in one place. The bar is located in the beautiful historic Shaw neighborhood, which adds to the charm. I'm giving it less than 5 stars only because I didn't enjoy the pizza I ordered. It was a thin‑crust Margherita pizza, but the flavor was off -- it tasted like it had balsamic vinaigrette on it, which didn't work at all. I didn't try anything else on the menu, but I would personally stay away from the Margherita pizza. Other than that, I highly recommend this place if you want to listen to live music. Pizza Passport stop for our pizza group. We had 14 this time around. The weather could have been an issue, so we snagged tables inside. The outdoor seating is great with about 4 extra-large picnic tables, two of them covered by tents. Inside there are bar seats, window counter seats and about five tables with a bench side and two stools at each table. We took up three of the tables, there were a couple people outside and the bar was full. There are menus available and QR codes to scan on the tables. Signs on the wall indicate the Beers on tap and cocktails. The monthly specials are on a sign at the register; this is also where you place your order. We were one of the first there, so I ordered a Mezcal cocktail called The Wanderer, it was pretty good. I am on a Mezcal kick right now. I also ordered the Fried Artichokes with marinara. I also wanted lemon and that has to come from the bar. Others arrived and everyone got drinks, appetizers, and salads. The house salad looked so good I ordered one, too. It's a lively spot, all the art on the 'Gallery' wall is for sale. The pizza names are famous artists, we were all having fun. Everyone started ordering their pizza, I believe they can only do a few at a time but when you are hanging with your friends and eating good food, time goes by quick. We decided on the Lichtenstein aka pepperoni and the Frida Kahlo, Arrabbiata sauce, mozzarella, chicken, jalapeno, and bacon. Both were delicious! Staff is efficient, the waitress bringing out the pizza was friendly, she was here on our last visit. They were busy and the other staff were nice and focused on the job. A fun, upbeat neighborhood bar! Good pizza and a decent drink selection. They have a nice patio with large tables which can be hard to find. Would recommend their pickle pizza for any pickle lovers, clearly the group ate almost all of it before I could take a photo! read more

Had dinner here tonight. The staff was friendly. One of the girls was new and just learning. The beer was good. We ordered a pizza and it was pretty good. About average. The taste was good, but the size was a bit on the smaller size. Kind of just enough for two people or three people that's not very hungry. My family and I came over from tower Grove park With the intention of getting our daughter a scoop of ice cream while we waited for a Pizza. We placed our order at the bar and Let the woman know that we needed the ice cream first to keep our child occupied while we waited for the food. She wanted a credit card while we waited for our food, We did not order alcohol So there was no reason for a tab, And I've never had to put down a card to order food before. I told her I was paying with cash and then they wanted us to pay for our food before we ate. I could see prepaying if you were sitting outside but We were sitting at the table Inside directly across from the bar. After about 10 minutes my husband got up to check to see if they were going to bring out our daughter's ice creamAnd the bartender got snippy and said it was on its way. 10 more minutes passed and then the ice cream and pizza We're delivered to the table at the same time. The woman with a big smile on her face Asked if we were good, I said this kind of defeats the purpose of ordering the ice cream to come out before the pizza now my kids not going to eat. And then she just shrugged her shoulders and walked off. We finished our meal and at no point did anyone stop by to see if we needed anything, To see if the food tasted alright or to see if we wanted to order anything else.... Never felt more unwelcome in a neighborhood bar, Especially at one we've dined at Before. We cane here for a pre wedding rehearsal family get together hosted by my daughter's fiancés family on Thursday. Because it was so hot they put up some canopy tents and fans outside as we had a pretty large group. As usual the pizza and salads were great and they were just so accommodating to our group. They helped with allergy concerns, kept bringing pizza and drinks and just did a great job. Nothing but great things to say and thanks for taking such great care of our large group! Firstly, we are not from here... If the food was the only thing I was critiquing, I would have voted 5 stars. Everything was delicious! The service was... interesting. First, we walked inside because we expected to be created by a hostess. Nothing. We approached the bar and the bartender looked at us confused. Then we noticed a card outside on the tables so we figured that must have been the menu. It was actually just the beer menu. No food menus. We sat outside and after 10 minutes one of my group members walked back inside and approached the bar again, flagging down the bartender and asked for a menu. We ended up with 2 paper menus and brought them back to our table. Another 10 minutes, a very sweet waitress took our food order and shortly after that, the drinks arrived and we were able to place food orders. After the initial salad drop, we were left without and silverware and again, waited a while to flag someone down so we could stop eating with our hands. Again, the food was amazing! The (I'm assuming) head chef, came out and thanked us for dining. The pizza came out hot and fresh and cheesy. Yum! At this point we've been out of water for a while and were never asked if we needed anything. Then (who looked to be) the boss of the restaurant walks up to the restaurant. He was super friendly. Said hello to some people and starts cleaning up a table. Again, we were never acknowledged. Never asked if we need anything. We end up going inside the bar to pay our tab. Never saw the waitress who took our order again. Maybe it's just how things how there... but it was odd for someone not from the area. The staff I spoke to and/or observed all seemed very nice. I would come back again for that pizza and chicken salad boat... but probably not for the overall experience. read more

I live in the neighborhood and have been going here for many years, even back before it was Gallery Pub and it was just called Thurman's. Great atmosphere and it's outdoor patio is it's best feature, with its laid back vibes and extra large picnic tables. A true Shaw neighborhood staple. But I wanted to post my thoughts specifically about the food. As a pizza maker myself that offers craft sourdough Neapolitan and Detroit styles, I've been wanting to try their pizzas for quite sometime. I frequent this spot more to have drinks, so I've seen the pizzas often and they looked great, but just didn't have a chance to try it yet until tonight. I was expecting a crispy crust, but instead it was a bit floppy. The biggest disappointment with it was the vast amount of over cheesing on it. There was so much cheese you couldn't taste the other ingredients at all - it overpowered the crust, the sauce, and the toppings. It was just cheese for days. I'm not sure where the myth came from that a good pizza needs to have a large amount of cheese to be satisfying... it's quite the opposite actually because you want the flavors from all the other ingredients to cut through as well. Balance is key. We ordered a BBQ Chicken pizza and a traditional pepperoni, mushroom, olive pizza - and both were overpowered by way too much cheese, and I'm sure that also contributed to the floppy crust. The good news is this is an easy fix if they can get their pizza maker to make the adjustments for a more balanced pizza. I'll keep coming back because I love the ambiance of this place as a neighborhood bar, but not sure if I'll order their pizza again. VIBES = 5 PIZZA = 3 OVERALL = 4 read more

First time having their food. Small inside, but plentiful tables outside. The sign on the door said to order at the bar, and sit wherever. Went up To the bar to order, 2 drinks, pizza, salad and appetizer. I ordered by myself since my husband was sitting outside with our daughter. It took some Time to get the attention of a worker, who we're doing other things at the bar. After ordering, they handed me the 2 drinks, pizza tray, dishes and silverware. I went in last night and was immediately asked to leave because of my political view of wanting to improve neighborhoods by renovating old houses and making real capital investments. When I contacted the owner Julie, she told me she stands by her bartender's views of refusing service to nieghbors based upon their political views. It's unfair, and if I was not white- I would likely have a strong lawsuit. If you have had a similar experience... please contact me. It's kinda ironic because at one point bicycle works was in there space, and as a kid I had to earn a bike by hard work. My family was humble. My father did the best he could and put 4 kids through college so they could lead a better life than him. We come here every Tuesday for trivia night with Andi and have a blast! This is my second review for this place because they started selling pizza since my last review. We got the Monet's La Pie, but with red sauce. Their pizza is okay. It hits the spot, but it's not the best thing in the world. Their garlic knots on the other hand are incredible. I'm so excited! The best pizza I've had in St Louis - don't IMO me. From Chicago - grew up in a family owned pizzaria- so I'm picky. Always have a great time here! I primarily come in for Trivia on tuesdays, where the staff are amazing at putting together a fun night. It's the perfect balance of challenging and silly questions. The pizza oven has arrived! Imported from Italy this oven makes great pizza. I'm partial to good old pepperoni or sausage but there are many other options that look great. In addition to the great food there's music on Friday and Saturday, and trivia on Tuesday. Whenever you go the people are great and the atmosphere is fantastic.
