I've heard this is THE place to go on Tuesday's because they have the best Stl style pizza. We came here fairly late since my boyfriend raves about this place and it didn't disappoint. They have a nice selection of beers and spirits and since we didn't get pizza, we did get drinks. I was excited to see they carried the Three Olives brand, so I got my usual with grape vodka, sprite, and a lime. My boyfriend got the Citrapolis, which is an IPA beer. This is a chill, easy-going bar where you can come have a drink or several and enjoy the camaraderie of friends and strangers. Annie, the bartender had great energy and was super engaging. There's ample room, so you'll never have to worry about it being too crowded. My only criticism is they only have pizza, so if you're not in the mood for it you're def limited. This is a nice little neighborhood bar. Nothing super fancy, but it gets the job done. They don't have a food menu, per se, but do serve pizzas. They have a nice big bar you sit at and some tables inside. They have a lovely front patio for the nicer weather. The bartender when we were there was very nice (we were the first and only ones there on a late Saturday afternoon). The drinks weren't super strong, but if I'm honest- they're probably a perfectly proportioned pour, but I'm used to the dive bars that put a splash of mixer in with the booze. We really liked the place and would definitely come back again and try some pizza. read more

This review is based solely on our experience waiting at the bar for our pizzas to go. This seems to be an amazing neighborhood spot. The lady behind the bar wasn't overly chatty, but the customers more than made up for that. We spent time talking to a gentleman and his girlfriend and also a few of the young children there with their parents. I would love to have this place in my neighborhood - a friendly and safe environment with good pizza as a bonus. The bar is actually quite spacious with 2 separate rooms inside and a large patio in the back. I know we would return if in the area again! read more

I thought this would be a cool little place to try out since it's quite close to my neighborhood where my house is. Little Dirty. The pizzas is basically frozen pizza they put in a oven. Totally processed. My Beer Mug was dirty. The Owner isnt even Irish which is kind of hilarious since he owns an Irish bar. As someone from South City Born Raised much better real authentic Irish bars in STL and a better experience. And they little pricey. And the bartenders that work there clearly are in cahoots with the owner and think they can talk to customers certain way. Save your money go somewhere else. Oh, good ole Riley's! It's about time for a review. This bar and pizza spot is a Tower Grove East staple and certainly one of the favorite watering holes in the area. They have really good happy hours, each day of the week. Our favorite day to go is Monday. They day they have half priced large pizzas. When we most recently visited, we got a large sausage mushroom and red onion pizza. Three of us shared it and had two rounds of drink all for under $25. That's not bad. They have a nice patio, which is a local favorite during the spring summer and fall. You will run into your neighbors. They also have a back room with a couple games and a space to reserve if you want to host a party. They also have single stall restrooms, which is a plus. The only downside is that sometimes the service is slow, there's usually just one person working the bar. Nonetheless, it's a favorite for sure. read more

Riley's Pub is that neighborhood bar I have been waiting to discover. It is on a residential street so don't be too rowdy on their patio. There were many people sitting at the bar when we arrived. The bartender was quick to acknowledge us and got us our drinks quickly. We sat at a table across from the bar and she brought us our drinks there and came by often enough to make sure we were okay. The drinks were cheap and on Mondays you can buy a large pizza for the price of a small - dine-in only. The kitchen only makes pizza and they do it well. We enjoyed the food, cheap beers and service. For three beers and a 2-topping large pizza, our bill was less than $20. read more

We found out the kitchen serves pizza, Monday and Tuesday it is half price. Nice to know... decided to order a 10" pizza before we left as a to go order and found that we only had three pieces left before we started the journey home. Very good pizza! Outdoor seating on the front and back patio. And dogs are allowed on the front patio, forgot to ask if they are allowed on the back one also. Riley's is everything you need in a corner pub with booze, (just) pizza, a small patio, warm and laid back atmosphere, and plenty-o-specials. Pretty much every night of the week they have something going on from discounted beer, to live music or cheap food. I recently went for their 1/2 off a large pizza. Normally a large pizza is $11 but on Tuesdays they're $5.50! Pretty good deal. They're STL style so naturally not the highest quality of ingredients but plenty of provel cheese to keep your heart happy on top of that thin cracker-like crust. The pizzas take 30-45 to come out, especially if it's busy. The only food they serve is pizza so don't get your hopes for anything else. They have a large selection beer and their house wine is Jägermeister. You really can't go wrong at this neighborhood joint. read more

More than meets the eye, Riley's has a back room. I came back here on a Friday night to find the front of the house hopping, and the back of the house chillin with video games. They've got a nice table top game in the back, and while it doesn't have naked photo hunt ( bummer i know!) it does have a lot of cool games on it. I was playin for Tommy, sos if yous go back there and beat my high scores, me and my big brotha Rickeys gonna come after yas! An older gentleman also bought my round of Schlafly's cuz he said I didn't look old enough to be almost 30. Cute! I think I found a new favorite pub! This place was dimly lit with lots of character an old-ass yet friendly bartender. Plus there was a live 8 piece Irish band playing at the doorway. The bartender says they play ever Wednesday. $3 pint specials on Shlafly was nice too. Smoker's beware, this pub likes it's tobacco. Cool, eclectic ash trays everywhere inviting you to smoke. I just visited to drink. I saw a sign about pizzas but didn't partake. I'm not sure that they make anything else to eat. Do you remember the first time you went to McGurk's and sat in the front room with the band playing. Everyone is so happy, the room has a historic vibe to it. Within minutes you're tapping your feet and ordering car bombs. Then you realize that the rest of the bar is nothing compared to the front room. Just over-hyped, over-grown, missing it's true character... ...We'll Riley's is like the front room of McGurks and nothing more. Come for a pint and a smile. Man, I loves me some Riley's. Add another TV in the back room and I'd be giving you five stars. This is my absolute favorite bar on the South side, good deals and great atmosphere. The place is real cozy and the marble tables are such a nice touch that you just don't get anywhere else. The staff is pretty small and before long, recognize all the regulars that come through. The bar is well stocked and the crowd is always friendly and interested in the ubiquitous baseball games. This is one of the few bars in the city where I have never had a problem with anyone and I've gone here at least 3 or 4 times a month since I've moved here. If you want darts or Silver Strike or Megatouch, they have it, although probably not the best place in town to play, at least they have proper dartboards and not the soft tip nonsense. Rarely are people actually playing so it might not be a bad place to go if you're trying to practice or are learning the game. Also, St. Louis style pizza is simply broken, but it's as good as it will ever get here, and they have large pizzas for $4.50 on Monday and Tuesday. These are deathly slow nights most places, but with the cheap pies, Riley's keeps the place fairly active early in the week. The bathrooms are immaculately clean for a bar, so a nice bonus for those of us that are civilized. They threw up a chalkboard in the bathroom next to the toilet and what do you know, NO GRAFITTI in the place! Genius! I can't recommend this place enough, just bring your own crowd. Many nights it's a bit slow although it's definitely starting to catch on. They also do live music quite often and if you can go at a night where the piano guy is playing, it's a nice bonus, very talented and nice gentleman. The only ONLY complaints I have about the place is that they need another TV in the back room and that the jukebox needs some major work. After spending 4 nights a month there for half a year, I've heard every song on the box at least 20 times at this point. read more

The beautiful wife and I forgot that reading is fundamental -- as in, make sure that when you go to a place that when it comes to food 90%+ of the reviews have only mentioned St. Louis style pizza, there's a chance that they DO NOT SERVE ANY OTHER FOOD BESIDES THAT. How the hell did we miss that fact? First off, I should remove the "Irish" category and replacing with "Pizza (Crappy)." Shamrock shakes from McDonald's are more Irish than their Hoosier Pizza topped with vile Hoosier Cheese. Second, to add injury to insult, I wasn't all that thrilled with their pour of Guinness. Third, well, I'll just stop. The only redeeming factor this evening (and the second star) is that you can smoke in there. Which we even didn't do despite their being a cigar in our possession. Maybe on another night under different circumstances (a.k.a. that I'd never be hungry), I'd have a different opinion, but honestly, there are other dark, smoky (or formerly smoky) corner bar that I'd rather cozy up to. read more

If the smoky bar atmosphere bother you, this is not your place unless you decide to sit outside on the patio area, otherwise, this place is a gem. Monday/Tuesday is 1/2 price STL style pizza and Wed are $3 pints. They have a respectable selection of Irish whiskey's and the prices, in general are reasonable. Patrons & staff are all friendly and eager to strike up a conversation - I had a chat with one guy who had been coming in there since he was a kid and his dad would drink there - it was called something else at that point, but still! Monday/Tuesday's are particularly popular with the college crowd due to the cheap pizza, so don't be surprised. They have life music a couple of days a week, run a shuttle to Mardi Gras and have great St. Patty's day specials - the owner told me that it takes them 3 days to make the corned beef! I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by Riley's pizza and I will definitely be back to enjoy the variety of whiskey they offer. I ordered a pizza from here to split with a friend. We got a 12" sausage and mushroom pizza. Sure, it was a little steep in price, but man was it worth it! The crust was the perfect crispiness with just a little bit of firmness. The sausage was well-seasoned and the mushrooms tasted fresh too. Nothing ruins a pizza more than rubbery canned mushrooms, and if they were canned here, well they did a good job of hiding it! One thing that should be mentioned is that they make their pizza STL style with provel cheese. IMO's has certainly soured me before with their provel offerings, but Riley's blew them out of the water. Seriously, so much better! My only gripe was the waitress seemed a little cold towards me. This is probably because I only ordered a water to drink while I waited for the pizza to cook, but she was very friendly and attentive towards the regulars there, so I imagine if I had a drink of the strong stuff, she would probably have been a bit warmer. I really liked the ambiance too. Some Irish pubs are just dirty and reek, but Riley's was a great blend of warmth and good mood lighting. I particularly liked the booths and I feel like it would be a cozy place to bring a few friends along with. Definitely make your way over if you are in the mood for a good slice of STL pizza and a strong drink in a nice, quiet neighborhood. read more

Perhaps its because I'm not from this neighborhood but when you first walk in this place doesn't exude friendliness. In fact the chatter stops and everyone that knows everyone else turns to check out who just came in--for at least 5 mins. At first glance I didn't see my party or the bartender so I looked for the powder room & checked the place out. Hands down amazing warmth. Rich wood & the low glow of antique fixtures accented the stark cerra marble table tops. The side room appeared less smokey so I settled there. Almost 15 mins passed before anyone approached me--it was the bartender so maybe they were short that night on help. At that point the group had arrived and we all ordered various drafts and a pizza (Mon & Tues are 1/2 price pizza nights). FYI the only menu is behind the bar so don't wait for someone to bring it to you. Pizza was out in mere mins of being ordered. Thin style with Provel (IMOS-ish) which is good in our book. The green peppers needed a little more time to cook but the full strips of juicy bacon where amazing! The dart board looked promising but left for our lungs sake. read more

And if that ain't enough, they also got $3 Harp drafts that night. Riley's is an absolutely great neighborhood bar. I'm almost hesitant to review it here, lest the place get overrun. But it got named best neighborhood bar in the city by the RFT last year, and seem to have escaped with its soul intact. So what harm could I do? It's got half-price pizza two nights a week and quality $3 pints the other four. It's got an excellent jukebox full of songs you never knew you wanted to hear. And it's got a great, friendly, down-to-earth vibe that makes it about the most welcoming, comfortable place to get a couple of pints in all of south city. And that's saying something. read more

My friend introduced me to Riley's back in the Fall of 07, and been hooked ever since then. This is definitely, a laid back pub in the south grand neighborhood. No frills, just nice people and a cozy atmosphere. Like the previous reviewer mentioned, Monday and Tuesday nights are a steal at this pub. 1/2 price on pizza. You can comfortably get a few beers and a large pizza for less then $10. It is thin crust pizza, using fresh ingredients. If you have been going as long as I have it is always full of regulars and that aspect gives this place even more character. After you been to Riley's a couple times the bartender remembers your name and order... Just an "extra" step in good service. On the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month Riley's brings in an Authentic Irish band... If you are in the neighborhood try this local gem out. read more

Riley's is a quintessential neighborhood Irish pub. It's dark, it's smokey and it's full of regulars. If you don't like dark smokey places, steer clear. If you can handle that though, I suggest stopping in on Monday or Tuesday for half price STL Style pizza, which has been touted by many of my friends as the best in the city. I prefer my pies to be of a thicker variety, so I can't really cast a vote on that, but they few pieces I've had were good. The front is dark and classic Pub. The back is brighter with darts and several video games (golden tee for one). The bartender is nice, though not overly friendly and the lady who brings out the pizza (his wife I believe) is super sweet. Some nights I can hear Irish music from my back deck, which is awesome. They've also added a large patio, which is great to get away from the smoke and enjoy your beverage of choice outside and watch the world go by on Arsenal. read more
