Beautiful Saturday afternoon and a beautifully curated restaurant. Located inside 21c Hotel, this spaces sits off to the left of the lobby and has a very open concept. The design has an artful feel which fits with the theme of the museum. A tad too chilly for the patio, I was seated at a table to the left of the bar that offered a comfortable bench side and a chair side. The bar has a few small tvs above, not enough to be overly distracting, but enough that it serves as focal if dining alone. This day was K.Derby day, so it was great to be able to see the race. 1st visit, I opted for a few tapas and salad. Spanish Caesar, no olives, jamon croquettes, patatas bravas. Funny enough, the salad came out last and took some time to do so. I had to ask for a check in on it. Croquettes came first, these were crispy on the outside and creamy cheesy inside. Not much ham, but very tasty and enjoyable. Patatas were an ample size, definitely enough for 2 to enjoy. Flavors worked well and I personally thought they would be more perfect if the potatoes had a little more crispy on the outside for some texture to the dish. Caesar was fresh and delicious, a huge bowl this is perfect as a light meal. I enjoyed how the salad was served in a layered way and the croutons were crushed which offered great texture throughout. Overall, a delicious experience.

A group of girlfriends and I went to Idol Wolf last night. The entire experience was amazing! Parking street or lot parking, we were somehow able to find a spot close to the restaurant despite it being March Madness. The decor was stunning. All of our beverages were delicious. For the most part we ordered a lot of tapas to share. There was not a single bite that we did not all enjoy. The tuna on toast and agnolotti were my favorites. Our server was attentive and helpful. We spoke with the manager in passing and he was also great. We will definitely be back.

This is such a unique hotel and restaurant! Food was great, service was excellent, drinks were delicious! If you haven't seen the beautiful decor of this place, do yourself a favor and book a resy. Bonus: there is a a free art exhibit on the second level that is definitely worth visiting!

If the cotton candy doesn't hook you... the rest of this meal will! Idol Wolf's menu mirrors the art museum above it--every dish feels like its own exhibition! We kicked things off with tapas (the Gambas al Ajillo and Jamón Croquettas... unreal) before diving into the raciones: carved strip steak and roasted salmon--each one a masterpiece of flavor. And just when we thought it couldn't get any better... out came the complimentary cotton candy--the sweetest surprise ending to cap off an unforgettable evening.

Idol Wolf's Happy Hour is a Day Drinkers dream. The Happy Hour is daily, that means 7 days a week and is only 3-5 PM. Which is plenty of time to enjoy yourself in a art deco bar. I'm a vodka man, so $5 vodka cocktails are right up my alley. Then to cut the booze, they offer a $10 Cheeseburger that is served with fries. The Smoked Cheddar, Lager Braised Red Onion and Tomato Jam, makes the burger a steal at $10. It is worth so much more. The bartender was a master of this craft. He made one variation of a Dirty Martini, that thrilled me and my friend. Bonuses that I like, they've got outlets and hooks under the bar. Makes it easy for charging and hanging a messenger bag or backpack. If you are a day drinker, you gotta check Idol Wolf out. The crowd is super friendly and like most hotel bars, everyone talks to everyone.

Made it to Idol Wolf again earlier this week and had an equally great experience! I went with a few other friends, we ordered 9 plates for the 3 of us and that was plentiful. Service was quick, food was warm and delicious and prices were reasonable! Love the mobile penguins that can sit with us at our table too! The carpaccio was a great dish as was the tuna! The bread was delicious. Great evening!

While the credits provided by the American Express program were probably only good enough for one meal here, most of the dishes that my partner and I had were tasty and it was an enjoyable experience overall. We tried to keep our options limited so we could keep our spending reasonable, but I can already say that I would recommend people visiting St. Louis or even staying at the hotel check this establishment out. In terms of the tapas, the patatas bravas had some very tasty potatoes! The aioli complemented the existing flavor very well, and the potatoes themselves were fried on point. They also had very nice crunch and texturally maintained a good balance between crunchiness and softness. The "chorizo" roasted hen of the woods dish had a masa cake that resembled polenta in terms of both flavor and texture, and the smoked aioli offered a nice addition. The mushroom on the top was way too salty and oily, though, so I really had to eat it with the masa cake to make it work. Under "from the sea" category, the tuna on toast offered a juxtaposition of various flavors because of the ingredients from tuna to tallow aioli to the herbs. The toast itself also tasted really good, so whatever I placed together with the toast simply offered an amazing taste. I enjoyed it thoroughly. As for the squid ink pasta, the calamari was a bit chewy, and the pasta was definitely overcooked beyond al dente, on top of the fact that every bit of pasta was a small piece of pasta noodle that couldn't even stay on my fork. I think using spaghetti or bucatini in the future may be a better idea so customers can use their forks to roll the pasta noodles. The tomato sauce had a strong taste, which wasn't a bad thing. It was a very specific kind of tomato sauce and I couldn't quite tell what was included. Once again, for those visiting St. Louis and / or staying at the 21c Museum Hotel, I would recommend them giving this establishment a try, and maybe even choose different dishes across several tries so that there would be a comprehensive experience all around.

Food: 5 Stars Service: 5 Stars Located Downtown in a historic YMCA building, Idol Wolf has taken up residence in the revitalized contemporary 21c Museum Hotel. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm, earthy and inviting, easily making you feel right at home. We had the pleasure of being served by a gentleman named Lee (sp?), who spared no time in ensuring we'd have the most incredible experience. My recommendations: - "Chorizo" Roasted Hen of the Woods: the chorizo spiced butter can be found within all the little nooks and crannies of the mushroom, making every bite a delectable one. So many flavors and textures- order two... you won't want to share. I promise! - Gambas Al Ajillo: Super savory and garlicky sauce with the most tender shrimp that will ever enter your mouth. Be sure to sop up all the sauce and garlicky bits with their toasted bread. Good enough to be a meal on its own, seriously! - Carved Strip Steak: I have never had such a tender strip steak- one that melts in your mouth. They took a classic dish and elevated it with manchego potatoes, chanterelles, and tallow roasted carrots. Talk about chef's kiss! - Lamb Sirloin: The marriage of lamb and their romesco and saffron aioli is one for the ages. Take your time and savor the flavors. - Vanilla Bean Basque Cheesecake: Do NOT skip out on this! If you're full, you MUST order and take home. This is, by far, THE best cheesecake I've had. It's so light and buttery but decadent in all the best ways. We were tempted to ask if we could purchase an entire cake... it was that damn good. To the staff: Thank you for an exquisite experience! We'll be back soon!

The service was good. It was obvious that the restaurant is very busy so they need more staff or something. I felt bad needing my server because she looked overwhelmed. My server was very sweet and brought us cotton candy for the table. Steak - was undercooked so I had to send it back for a bit. Paella - it was very salty and undercooked. I was kinda disappointed in the dish. Croquettas - was the best thing from the meal.

I'm sooo happy I finally got in here! It's been a long time since I've been wanting to come. We came to celebrate a friends birthday and it was suchhhh a vibe. It's quaint and has a bit of an isolated feeling, as it's tucked into the side of the bar with some really eye catching decor. The walls are stone like and give a gothic vibe. It's really neat with the low lighting. I got a spritz; you have the ability to build your own. I believe I got the italics bergamot. It was nice and citrusy/ refreshing. We split a variety of small plates. *pan con tomatoe- lots of tomato on here, recommend if that's your jam. Add the Serrano *chorizo roasted hen of the woods- I loved this. I don't think I've had anything like it before. The masa cake and the aioli tasted great together. * Jamon croquettas- could probably eat like 8 of these. Delicious. The bechamel is pretty darn good. * gambas al ajillo- super fresh shrimp, loved the chili with the olive oil * burger- fries for days! The red onion and tomato jam went super good together with the cheddar. They brought out cotton candy for dessert for my friend with a candle. It was a nice touch and something different. If you haven't been, you must! I can imagine a space like this when it's cold out is so cozy!

Upscale environment with great classy vibes. The decor and presentation of food is very appealing. The service was friendly and attentive. Had a great experience but giving four instead of five stars because felt like it was overpriced for the value of food (food looking better than it tastes but still good).

My good, good girlfriend and I went to an art exhibit at The St. Louis Hotel and decided to have a little bite to eat before the art tour exhibit. Those Spanish olives were amazing and spiced just right! We shared a cauliflower and mushroom tapas and we were disappointed! All prepared to perfection. Our server was the best and he gave us a complimentary glass of champagne! The ambience was very classy and fit grown folks! Love the art in the lobby! Parking was plentiful and valet was offered as well.

Such a beautiful place! When you walk in, there is a big clear globe in the middle of the place. They have wonderful food and drinks. I got French toast and a espresso martini. Alex was my server and she was excellent!

    Are there good vegetarian options?

    Yes, especially with the appetizer

    What is the dress code?

I don't think there's a dress code. This is a restaurant based in a hotel, so there is flexibility. I suggest looking at interior shots to get a glimpse as to how customers dress.

    Is this place kid friendly?

The menu isn't great for kids but they are welcoming to them. My six year old went and we just brought a pb&j for him. They were just fine with it.

I literally live a 4 minute walk from here and have no idea why it took me this long to check it…read moreout. I took my boyfriend here last night for his 24th birthday celebration, and boy did it exceed every expectation. When we first arrived, we were taken aback by the waterfall feature at the front door. We genuinely thought we were at the wrong entrance. Turns out it was entirely intentional, and in the excitement of the evening, we forgot to ask about the story behind it. A fun little mystery to solve on our next visit. We arrived about 30 minutes early and were welcomed warmly from the moment we walked in. The staff gave us a lovely intimate table with a great view of the restaurant's eclectic decor and designs. The ambiance struck the perfect balance, lively and engaging without being so loud that we could not have a real conversation, which for my partner and me is genuinely one of the most important aspects of a dining experience. Since we both work incredibly busy schedules, this was not only a birthday celebration but our first proper date night in quite a while, and the atmosphere made it feel truly special. The staff even surprised us with a complimentary prosecco for the birthday, something we were absolutely not expecting and deeply appreciated. On the drinks side, although I am not personally a big drinker, my boyfriend loves exploring new spirits and cocktail combinations. The bartenders were fantastic: knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely enthusiastic about their recommendations across both wines and spirits. They made the whole experience feel curated rather than transactional. Now, let me tell you about Jelly. Our server Jelly was, without question, the highlight of the entire evening, and that is saying a lot given how spectacular everything else was. I have a severe pineapple allergy, and if you dine out with food allergies, you know the usual routine. The server writes it down, maybe glances at it when the food arrives, and you spend the whole meal quietly hoping for the best. Jelly was on an entirely different level. She went completely above and beyond, meticulously checking every food option and wine pairing to ensure nothing contained pineapple and that there was zero risk of cross contamination. When a wine bottle did not clearly list its ingredients, she did not guess or assume. She looked it up on the internet right then and there to confirm it was safe for me. That gesture might sound simple, but for someone with a severe allergy, it is everything. It communicates that she genuinely cared about my wellbeing, not just about getting through her tables for the night. I felt completely taken care of, safe, and able to relax and enjoy myself without the anxiety that usually accompanies dining out with an allergy. Jelly, if you ever read this: thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are exceptional at what you do and an absolute asset to Blood & Sand. And now, the food, which was nothing short of breathtaking. From the presentation, to the pacing and timing, to the extraordinary depth of flavor on every plate, the food at Blood & Sand is spectacular and amazing in the truest sense of both words. My boyfriend and I had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings. We had originally hoped for the 10 course, but it was not being offered that evening. No matter, because the 5 course delivered more than enough to leave us completely floored. The evening opened with a palate initiator of carrots, goat cheese, and walnuts. I will be honest, I was not excited. Carrots and goat cheese are genuinely two of my least favorite foods on the planet. But I gave it a try and it was absolutely heavenly. A perfect encapsulation of what this kitchen does: it takes ingredients you think you know and transforms them into something you cannot stop thinking about. My absolute favorites of the evening were the tuna carpaccio, the wagyu flank steak, and the pierogis. Each one was cooked and composed to perfection. Everything melted in my mouth and left me wishing the courses would never end. My one constructive note is on the oyster course. I love oysters and eat them often, so I was genuinely looking forward to this one. The portion, two very small oysters with modest accompaniments of horseradish, a small salsa, and lemon, felt a little light even by tasting menu standards. I would love to see either four oysters at that size or two larger ones. It was gone so quickly and felt slightly out of step with the generosity of every other course. That small note aside, Blood & Sand delivered one of the most memorable dining experiences I have had in a long time. Every single person on that floor, from the bartenders to the host to the incredible Jelly, went above and beyond to make the night comfortable, fun, intimate, and genuinely special. We will absolutely be back, and next time I will not wait so long given that I practically live next door.

Hidden Gems in St. Louis -- and darling, the name is not exaggerating…read more I had the absolute pleasure of attending a birthday celebration here and let me tell you... this place is a vibe, a moment, and a whole sparkling experience. The space is intimate, stylish, and perfectly appointed -- the kind of place that feels like you've stumbled into a secret little jewel box in the city. It's cozy in the best possible way, with an atmosphere that invites laughter, celebration, and maybe just a little fabulous mischief. The bartenders? Absolute pros. Warm, welcoming, and clearly masters of their craft. Naturally, I ordered my classic gin and tonic, and it was perfection in a glass -- crisp, balanced, and exactly what a proper G&T should be. I heard from the birthday boy and his wonderful wife that the owners were incredibly accommodating, and you could feel that hospitality throughout the entire evening. Everything felt effortless and welcoming -- the kind of place where people clearly care about creating a great night. And then... the party truly began. We had drag queens serving glamour and joy, music, laughter echoing through the room, and pizza delivered from the birthday boy's favorite local pizza spot that honestly deserves its own standing ovation. If you want to know where that pizza came from, drop a comment -- because it was outrageously good. By the end of the night I couldn't stop thinking: this place really is a Hidden Gem. A perfect little pocket of St. Louis where good drinks, great people, and a bit of fabulous chaos come together. Sparkle-tastic. Gem-tastic. Pure joy. The upstairs lounge is perfect if you want to hang out with friends or just take a break and rest your feet for a bit. I absolutely love that space and how comfy it is. One of the biggest perks of Hidden Gems is their back room, which allows them to host events and fun pop-up experiences. I've been to a few, and most recently attended the "Taylor Swift: Bejeweled" experience. The space was decked out in all things Taylor, with every era clearly represented. Giant friendship bracelets hung from the ceilings and lined the walls, which was such a fun touch. And of course, there were plenty of photo ops with my close personal bff, Taylor herself! The drink menu was themed to match the eras, with tons of creative options. My friends and I tried several cocktails, along with a few NA options as well. I really appreciate that they offer non-alcoholic drinks as I've been cutting back on alcohol over the past few months, and it's nice to still have fun choices that actually taste good! The Mirrorball was easily my favorite drink of the night. It tasted just like an orange creamsicle and was served in a disco ball...so good and so fun. My last drink of the night was "So Long London," which was almost like a dessert in a glass. Highly recommend ending your night with that one!
