Idol Wolf has been on my list for awhile but man...I'm always hesitant about hotel restaurants. I'm just mad at myself for not convincing us to go here earlier! We stopped in before our show at the Fox, and let them know how much time we had. They timed it for us perfectly. We had made a reservation and they seated us immediately, but honestly, the show stopper is the bar. We will have to come back and sit there because it's so beautiful. The service was great all night. My only complaint is having to pick what to eat!! Their whole menu is drool worthy. We started with the croquettas and OMG I'm still thinking about them. They melt in your mouth. We just wanted to eat 100 of them. We also split the brussels which were phenomenal. We weren't super hungry so we ended up splitting the burger, even that was amazing. We will absolutely need to come back and try some more of their entrees. They brought cotton candy out with the check which I LOVED. It's a guilty pleasure of mine, my husband KNEW I would freak out when I saw it. Such a great experience. Top notch food, top notch service. Literally not one complaint.

First meal in st Louis and it was a recommendation from a friend. The inside was beautiful with sculptures, artwork, furniture, billiards and allot of other interesting decor. We were a large group and the service was attentive. Great recommendations were given and we all enjoyed our meals. Would come back, if ever in town.

Came for a Happy Hour drink and nosh. The roasted sprouts were just enough and delicious. Self service at the bar for food and drinks. Good and drinks brought out so quickly on the lounge room which was comfortable and great for a casual get together. The basque cheesecake is not to be missed for a little dessert!

Idol Wolf is my favorite place for Spanish food in St. Louis. Good variety of traditional tapas and delicious plates. I love their croquetas de jamón and pan con tomate. I loved the decoration and overall vibe of the place. Service was great.

First time in St. Louis in 20 years & needed a late evening dinner. Idol Wolf knocked it out of the park with its Spanish style tapas. The croquettas were amazing & the Spanish Caesar salad was phenomenal. I loved the two craft cocktails I had as well. The service was attentive and friendly. The vibes were laid back and there's lots to look at art wise. Amazing horseshoe bar. Will be back on my next trip to STL!

I would give this place a million stars if I could. I started a monthly supper club with some of my friends, and Saturday was the first iteration, which we did at Idol Wolf. Note that they have a max of 8 people per reservation without doing special menu/private room. Idol wolf is located in the 21c hotel and museum. It is stunningly beautiful, and definitely a great place for girls night with tons of photo ops. Despite it being a busy Saturday, we were able to find nearby parking pretty easily, The service was excellent, and food came out fast despite the dining room being mostly full. They have a unique cocktail program--I sampled most of my friend's drinks (my favorite was the Strawberry Balsamic gin tonic). However, I ordered the shakeajillio, which was pretty basic espresso martini, not my favorite I've ever had, but just so-so. Every single person in my party was absolutely blown away with the food. We tried several of the tapas and shared as a table, my absolute favorites are as follows (in order): 1. Agnolotti - this one surprised me, but the pasta may have been the best I've ever had. It was the perfect thickness and had just enough bite, filled perfectly full of creamy goat cheese, and swimming in a perfectly balanced sauce. 2. Brussel Sprouts - hands down the best I've had. Crisped perfectly, with a tart and acidic glaze, loaded with toppings. I could NOT stop eating them, long after I was full. 3. Tuna on Toast - this was a popular one for the whole table--very unexpected but so, so good. The charred bread with a super soft interior that it came on was fabulous as well. This is also the only tapa I got a picture of. We also got the patatas bravas, Spanish Caesar, beef carpaccio, gambas Al ajillo, and chorizo white wine mussels--all also great, except for the carpaccio which was a little salty for my taste. It's worth noting that the portions are larger than I expected, WELL worth the price! One friend opted for a full size entree, and she went for the strip steak which she absolutely loved. If you haven't been, you simply MUST GO. Idol Wolf is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the whole city after just one visit. You've got a fan for life!

Had a great date night at Idol Wolf! It's located in a hotel lobby and conveniently its entrance is easily seen in the lobby. The interior is dimly lit and well decorated, making for some great photos while you wait for food and drinks! My partner and I got a large variety of of dishes to try out. Couple of highlights include the agnolotti pasta, the beef carpaccio, the croquettas, and my lemon drop! The agnolotti was a great mix of creamy, sweet and savory. The Jamon croquettas were like an elevated mozzarella stick, could not go wrong with those. The Spanish style lemon drop has to be one of my fave drinks on this Earth. It takes your classic tart lemon drop with a kick of hot honey that just adds OOMPH to the drink. While we did not get a dessert, our amazing server treated us to cotton candy to finish of the meal. He was a great help picking out the dishes and was very prompt to fill our water and take away dirty plates.

This meal was amazing! Their Cesar salad was the best I've probably ever had! the steak was perfectly cooked and flavorful. Everything was delicious and the vibes were just right. So so good!

This is such a unique hotel and restaurant! Food was great, service was excellent, drinks were delicious! If you haven't seen the beautiful decor of this place, do yourself a favor and book a resy. Bonus: there is a a free art exhibit on the second level that is definitely worth visiting!

If the cotton candy doesn't hook you... the rest of this meal will! Idol Wolf's menu mirrors the art museum above it--every dish feels like its own exhibition! We kicked things off with tapas (the Gambas al Ajillo and Jamón Croquettas... unreal) before diving into the raciones: carved strip steak and roasted salmon--each one a masterpiece of flavor. And just when we thought it couldn't get any better... out came the complimentary cotton candy--the sweetest surprise ending to cap off an unforgettable evening.

Idol Wolf's Happy Hour is a Day Drinkers dream. The Happy Hour is daily, that means 7 days a week and is only 3-5 PM. Which is plenty of time to enjoy yourself in a art deco bar. I'm a vodka man, so $5 vodka cocktails are right up my alley. Then to cut the booze, they offer a $10 Cheeseburger that is served with fries. The Smoked Cheddar, Lager Braised Red Onion and Tomato Jam, makes the burger a steal at $10. It is worth so much more. The bartender was a master of this craft. He made one variation of a Dirty Martini, that thrilled me and my friend. Bonuses that I like, they've got outlets and hooks under the bar. Makes it easy for charging and hanging a messenger bag or backpack. If you are a day drinker, you gotta check Idol Wolf out. The crowd is super friendly and like most hotel bars, everyone talks to everyone.

Beautiful Saturday afternoon and a beautifully curated restaurant. Located inside 21c Hotel, this spaces sits off to the left of the lobby and has a very open concept. The design has an artful feel which fits with the theme of the museum. A tad too chilly for the patio, I was seated at a table to the left of the bar that offered a comfortable bench side and a chair side. The bar has a few small tvs above, not enough to be overly distracting, but enough that it serves as focal if dining alone. This day was K.Derby day, so it was great to be able to see the race. 1st visit, I opted for a few tapas and salad. Spanish Caesar, no olives, jamon croquettes, patatas bravas. Funny enough, the salad came out last and took some time to do so. I had to ask for a check in on it. Croquettes came first, these were crispy on the outside and creamy cheesy inside. Not much ham, but very tasty and enjoyable. Patatas were an ample size, definitely enough for 2 to enjoy. Flavors worked well and I personally thought they would be more perfect if the potatoes had a little more crispy on the outside for some texture to the dish. Caesar was fresh and delicious, a huge bowl this is perfect as a light meal. I enjoyed how the salad was served in a layered way and the croutons were crushed which offered great texture throughout. Overall, a delicious experience.

If I could give 0 stars I would. The dinner went well but one thing we noticed is that it seemed that a server was delivering dishes to the wrong table. What concerned us is that it appeared that our dish went to the table beside us was picked up and delivered to us. What really gave us the ick though was when we received the shrimp with two shrimp tails and meat in the tails (see photo). We reported it talked to the manager and were told this happens, but why would there be meat in the tail? We had that dish and one other taken from our bill but I wouldn't recommend ANYONE eat there. There are better places and that is gross. Gross.

Ask the Community - IDOL WOLF

Are there good vegetarian options?

Yes, especially with the appetizer

What is the dress code?

I don't think there's a dress code. This is a restaurant based in a hotel, so there is flexibility. I suggest looking at interior shots to get a glimpse as to how customers dress.

Is this place kid friendly?

The menu isn't great for kids but they are welcoming to them. My six year old went and we just brought a pb&j for him. They were just fine with it.

While some of the drinks were much stronger than I'm used to, as your girl really only likes the fruity girly drinks, this was such a fun time trying so many new things and I wouldn't give it up for anything. My friends that were a little bit more accustomed to different alcohols loved all of the drinks, especially the Mezcal and sweet corn one! My favorite personally was the Ube, espresso, and Matcha beverage that came with dessert. My favorite meal has to be a tie between the steak, which melted in our mouths, and the cavatelli, which had beef cheek and a Bolognese sauce. The Erie vibe of this with the long table, and so many candles was absolutely stunning, and the staff were absolutely amazing, and even dressed up to fit the vibe! While I will say, this dinner did take a long time, we were also the first group to try it so they were working out their kinks. We got there around 6 PM and didn't leave until a little bit after 11. So, while this is a wonderful experience, I will say, if you are trying to get in and get out, save this for a different time. I definitely think that this is worth trying, though, and I would hurry up and book your reservation before they all fill up for this month!

I literally live a 4 minute walk from here and have no idea why it took me this long to check it…read moreout. I took my boyfriend here last night for his 24th birthday celebration, and boy did it exceed every expectation. When we first arrived, we were taken aback by the waterfall feature at the front door. We genuinely thought we were at the wrong entrance. Turns out it was entirely intentional, and in the excitement of the evening, we forgot to ask about the story behind it. A fun little mystery to solve on our next visit. We arrived about 30 minutes early and were welcomed warmly from the moment we walked in. The staff gave us a lovely intimate table with a great view of the restaurant's eclectic decor and designs. The ambiance struck the perfect balance, lively and engaging without being so loud that we could not have a real conversation, which for my partner and me is genuinely one of the most important aspects of a dining experience. Since we both work incredibly busy schedules, this was not only a birthday celebration but our first proper date night in quite a while, and the atmosphere made it feel truly special. The staff even surprised us with a complimentary prosecco for the birthday, something we were absolutely not expecting and deeply appreciated. On the drinks side, although I am not personally a big drinker, my boyfriend loves exploring new spirits and cocktail combinations. The bartenders were fantastic: knowledgeable, approachable, and genuinely enthusiastic about their recommendations across both wines and spirits. They made the whole experience feel curated rather than transactional. Now, let me tell you about Jelly. Our server Jelly was, without question, the highlight of the entire evening, and that is saying a lot given how spectacular everything else was. I have a severe pineapple allergy, and if you dine out with food allergies, you know the usual routine. The server writes it down, maybe glances at it when the food arrives, and you spend the whole meal quietly hoping for the best. Jelly was on an entirely different level. She went completely above and beyond, meticulously checking every food option and wine pairing to ensure nothing contained pineapple and that there was zero risk of cross contamination. When a wine bottle did not clearly list its ingredients, she did not guess or assume. She looked it up on the internet right then and there to confirm it was safe for me. That gesture might sound simple, but for someone with a severe allergy, it is everything. It communicates that she genuinely cared about my wellbeing, not just about getting through her tables for the night. I felt completely taken care of, safe, and able to relax and enjoy myself without the anxiety that usually accompanies dining out with an allergy. Jelly, if you ever read this: thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are exceptional at what you do and an absolute asset to Blood & Sand. And now, the food, which was nothing short of breathtaking. From the presentation, to the pacing and timing, to the extraordinary depth of flavor on every plate, the food at Blood & Sand is spectacular and amazing in the truest sense of both words. My boyfriend and I had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings. We had originally hoped for the 10 course, but it was not being offered that evening. No matter, because the 5 course delivered more than enough to leave us completely floored. The evening opened with a palate initiator of carrots, goat cheese, and walnuts. I will be honest, I was not excited. Carrots and goat cheese are genuinely two of my least favorite foods on the planet. But I gave it a try and it was absolutely heavenly. A perfect encapsulation of what this kitchen does: it takes ingredients you think you know and transforms them into something you cannot stop thinking about. My absolute favorites of the evening were the tuna carpaccio, the wagyu flank steak, and the pierogis. Each one was cooked and composed to perfection. Everything melted in my mouth and left me wishing the courses would never end. My one constructive note is on the oyster course. I love oysters and eat them often, so I was genuinely looking forward to this one. The portion, two very small oysters with modest accompaniments of horseradish, a small salsa, and lemon, felt a little light even by tasting menu standards. I would love to see either four oysters at that size or two larger ones. It was gone so quickly and felt slightly out of step with the generosity of every other course. That small note aside, Blood & Sand delivered one of the most memorable dining experiences I have had in a long time. Every single person on that floor, from the bartenders to the host to the incredible Jelly, went above and beyond to make the night comfortable, fun, intimate, and genuinely special. We will absolutely be back, and next time I will not wait so long given that I practically live next door.

Unfortunately despite the establishment having a tasting menu and using culinary language, the food was a hodgepodge of elements that worked and elements that did not. I lived in St. Louis from 2013 to 2020, and during that time, the Crack Fox almost singlehandedly kept the Downtown bar scene alive. Six years later, I am back in STL for work--just four days, but I had to make sure I checked in here, at a bar I can now safely say is truly special. My current city has no comparable equivalent. Bars like The Crack Fox--that is, neighborhood dive bars that make great cocktails, with actual character and passion--bars that care more about what they do than the money they make doing it... these bars are rare. We arrived a little after 11 and found a space in the back parking lot. The lot is convenient as it's pretty well-lit and is diagonal from the CF. We entered through the back where the deck is and walked right in. Upon first glance, you'll notice the hanging lights above the entrance and then after a few feet, the bar is immediately to the right. The tables are all along the left side as to make a walkway for the bar (super convenient). Due it being their anniversary, it was a bit crowded but not too bad where you couldn't get a drink or walk through. My usual go-to is a flavored vodka (three olives grape) and sprite. While they had a plethora of spirits, sadly this wasn't one of them. They had other flavored vodkas but I opted to get a simple Cosmo while my friend got a makers and coke. The Cosmo was just what I needed and might I add, well made! After we got our drinks, we did a quick walk through of the other side called The Oddities (coming soon), as well as the upstairs that overlooks the entire place. The stairs are steep, so it would behoove you to hold on to the railing. While I love trying new places, I was a bit apprehensive because I thought I'd stick out like a sore thumb. Turns out, everyone was friendly, the drinks are great, and the music wasn't bad! They had different acts going on for this particular evening (I'm not sure if this is the norm), but I know my friend is a regular on Tuesday's for karaoke. I do intend to come back and try out some more drinks and food and check out the other place once it officially opens.
