I was really excited to try Scout's after hearing about it opening in November of 2025, so going into this I was very optimistic about the food and vibe. Let's start off with the location & vibe: Located off of a quiet part of Locust street, the building gave a minimalistic vibe on the outside with a white exterior & black trim on the windows. Upon entry, you're greeted with a warm, homey vibe which I enjoyed. I also enjoyed how they offered a choice of 3 different seating types when booking a reservation, allowing you to choose between The Living Room (akin to bar/lounge seating), The Dining Room (your standard seating for more intimate occasions), and The Kitchen (a more social vibe with communal seating at large tables). We chose to sit in The Dining room, and I found it to be clean & pretty nice, though it was quite loud which made it very difficult to hear our server and have a conversation. The table for two we reserved was sufficient, albeit a bit small & crowded with the lamp, water glasses, coasters, and other drinks/plates that were ordered. The Dining Room area was also quite small which contributed to the noise level. Overall, the space was very well-kept, warm, & modern, but the noise level really brought down our enjoyment. Regarding the Service, it was mostly great, though again, the noise made it very difficult to understand our server at certain points. In addition, due to either the noise or a simple mistake on our server's part, we were served the wrong pasta dish, though this was corrected fairly quickly. The first round of drinks also seemed to take quite awhile, though everything afterwards came out in a respectable amount of time. Other than the issue with our pasta dish, the service was pretty good. Onto the meat & potatoes, so to speak: Starting with the drinks, they were absolutely phenomenal, to say the least. I ordered a Lime in the Coconut and it turned out to be the best cocktail I've had in STL! The brown butter rum really set it apart and complemented the toasted coconut & lime flavors. I also ordered a Beach Bummer, which was incredibly good as well (I forgot to take a picture) though the Lime in the Coconut really stole the show. For the food, this is where things take a bit of a turn. We started off with the Charred Cabbage which had an 'Nduja Cream, sunflower seeds, ramp, & dill. While the flavor was pretty good, the texture was more of a wet, steamed cabbage that happened to have a tiny bit of char on it. The cream added a level to the cabbage that was enjoyable, and of course softened the texture, but when we ordered Charred Cabbage we were expecting something with a crunchier, more charred texture. Our next small plate was the Sweet & Sour Meatballs, featuring roasted brussel sprouts (a favorite of ours) along with Pork & Beef Meatballs, agrodolce, & fried garlic. These were definitely our favorite thanks to the agrodolce sauce which provided great flavor. Although the meatballs were the main part of this dish, the brussels shined through for us as the sauce complemented them very nicely. I would definitely order these again if I returned in the future. For the mains, I ordered the Flank Steak which came with farro, grilled broccolini, roasted peppers, caper verde, & Calabrian chili. The presentation was very simple despite the upscale vibe to the restaurant which left a bit to be desired. The steak was warm, teetering on room temp/cold, and was overall quite dry even with the caper verde & peppers accompanying it. I was most excited for this dish as it's a classic, but it fell flat to me as the flavors didn't mesh the same way they did with the smaller plates. Combined with the presentation, it didn't feel very appetizing but wasn't awful by any means. And that's where we ended things at Scout's, choosing to forgo dessert in favor of a different spot. Overall, the space & vibe was incredibly inviting, offering a modern, homey, upscale vibe which suffers a bit from the level of noise. The drinks & small plates were amazing and where Scout's really seems to shine, while the mains left a bit to be desired. Okay listen - we live in the area and hesitated coming here for the longest time because of an experience at the restaurant in this location previously. I assumed it was the same owners. And I'm so mad that I didn't double check. Don't make the same mistake we did because this place is AMAZING. Truly SO good. I wish I had photos but the food was so freaking good, it was devoured by the time I remembered to pull out my phone. My husband and I shared a couple of things - an appetizer, a pasta, and a main. Our friends also got a few things. We didn't have one thing on the table that we didn't think was fantastic. The hardest part was making decisions, but the waiter was also amazing and super helpful. Our service was great all night, the chef even came out to chat towards the end of our meal. The flank steak was cooked to perfection. The bucatini was incredible. Even the sourdough was memorable. Met up with friends for cocktails after work. The space is warm and inviting. The staff friendly and welcoming. We were seated in the bar area on cozy couches which felt reminiscent of being at a friend's house. The cocktail list offers classic as well as house specialties. My favorite was the Lime in the coconut. I'm a tropical girl at heart and this cocktail was perfect. The food was fabulous!! Dishes were well plated, the perfect amount to share with friends. The attention to detail in the handmade pasta, fresh herbs brightened up every bite. Please save a little room for dessert. Or use my pro tip and take it to go because I'll have room later! The yuzu tart was the best I've had in some time. Bright fresh citrus on a shortbread crust. Topped with cream and fresh mint. Great food and good service in an uncomfortable warehouse. Come here for the food - each of our dishes was packed with flavor. Started off with seasonal burrata, paired with delicious nectarine and mild tomato with killer sourdough bread 5/5. Cauliflower was cooked perfectly, sauce was slightly too acidic and only partially cut with sweet apricot and fatty cashew, we still finished the plate 4/5. Carrot was cooked soft and paired with feta, the elevation came from bacon fat seasoning, 5/5. Pasta itself was slightly under salted but fresh and delicious, the sauce was simple and salty enough to compensate, 5/5. Flank steak was cooked a perfect medium rare, good seasoning but it's a tough cut and stuck in my teeth so beware ordering in polite company! Paired perfectly with blistered broccolini 5/5. Drinks were also great, unique oil and vinegar themed drink was funky and flavorful. The downside of the experience was the setting - very loud with no soft finishes/ noise dampening. We had a fantastic dining experience at Scout's! I made reservations a couple of weeks ahead of time since the place is quite popular. When we got there, we were seated immediately in the dining room. They do have a lounge area by the bar with some comfortable seating arranged for socializing. Our waitress came shortly to take our drink orders. We ordered our beverages which came quickly. I had a light Tuscan red wine and my husband had a cocktail. We started with some carbonara arancini - bacon, parmesan, black pepper and egg yolk. Delicious and great serving size. We also ordered the roasted cauliflower with curry yogurt, raisins, cashews, mint, and ginger. Perfect flavor and the cauliflower was prepared just right. For my entrée, I had the chitarra (pancetta, shallot, lemon, asparagus, sweet peas and white wine) and my husband had the radiatori (red pepper bolognese, ricotta, black pepper). Their menu said they make their pasta in-house so we had to try them. We were not disappointed. The pasta dishes we ordered were both delicious and very flavorful. For dessert, I ordered the Dubai chocolate cannoli. Instead of the traditional pastry dough, they used kataifi which is shredded phyllo resembling vermicelli noodles, stuffed with ricotta and pistachio, edges dipped in Dubai chocolate and more chocolate drizzled all over the cannoli. Man Oh Man. I would have skipped over this one if I knew how loud it was going to be. Unfortunately I could not even enjoy my fun date night because I could barely talk to my partner about the week. He was so obsessed with the noise that he downloaded a decibel meter on his app and out table was at 90 decibels. There are several small things a restaurant can do to help with this situation and they have done none of them. Service was very good, 0 complaints. Food, we got the sweet & sour meatballs, roasted cauliflower, and we split the gnocchi entree. Both of our small plates had raisins in it which I did think was funny. The meatball plate was my favorite of the three. The roaster cauliflower had a delightful sauce underneath and the veggie had a great color to it, added mint and dill, I enjoyed all the flavors together. Dinner with my husband last weekend. I made sure to have a reservation. We were seated pretty quickly when we got there. The menu was a decent size, not too big or too small. Decided we wanted to try a bunch of different things so we ordered a bunch of food to share. Started with the carbonara arancini and the chopped salad. Arancini was delicious and had great flavor. Salad was a good size and well balanced. We then got 2 small pastas to share, the gnocchi and the radiatori. I will say the radiatori was def my fav dish and was a very unique shape. We finally made it to Scout's and wow! We had an amazing experience. Both the restaurant and bar area were beautiful. My friend even said "you don't even feel like you're in STL right now". We ended up staying for drinks after dinner because the sitting area in the bar was just so warm and inviting. Now for the dinner portion... First, I want to start with our server. Areena was so helpful and kind and we loved having her as our waitress! One of my friends has a lot of allergies and she went above and beyond to help make sure everything was allergy friendly. We are incredibly grateful for all of her help and recommendations! Speaking of those recommendations, the food was amazing. We started with three small plates: The Charred Cabbage, the Sweet Potato, and the Carrots. All of them were delicious and perfect split between three people. Scouts is a new restaurant with a promising future. Our server told us they intended to expand their small menu as they settled into their business. We had a reservation for 7:15 on a Thursday and we unfortunately sat next to a large floor to ceiling window. If we had good weather it would be wonderful but given the biting winter cold, I was freezing despite the faux fur blankets they generously draped over every chair in that section. Our server was so kind and made us laugh by rhyming her name! She was attentive but not overly so. She recommended the sourdough and the arancini, both of which we got. Now the important part. The arancini was tasty and lightly fried. My date enjoyed it immediately, and while I thought it was delicious, it reminded me heavily of loaded tater tots. We also got the whipped ricotta with homemade sourdough. WOW! The bread was the star! It was sliced and lightly toasted with (I suspect) butter, giving it a delightful crunch and rush of flavor as the cool creaminess of the cheese balanced out the fattiness. As for our meals, I ordered the charred cabbage. Cabbage is my favorite vegetable, so I enjoy the flavor and texture. This is a half head that is charred and topped with a rich, creamy, slightly spicy sauce with sunflower seeds. I enjoyed this dish immensely and was full after eating one quarter. The bucatini was delicious. I think it would be fair to describe it as a cacio e pepe with thicker pasta. He ordered a full dish intending to take some home, but it was not enough leftover to really box up. This place is incredible! I made a reservation Sunday evening and even though I arrived before they were officially open, they still let me in. This was day three of their soft menu, but they still had plenty to choose from. I sat at the bar and Emma was my server. She was friendly, polite, and gave great recommendations. Although I was hungry, I wasn't famished, so she suggested getting a single arancino, a half size of the bucatini, and then see how I felt after that. I'm glad she suggested the smaller sizes because the portions are designed for two people and to be shared. The arancino came first and was a great start to the meal. It was cooked perfectly and had the right amount of crisp; not too hard but right where it should be. She waited for me to give the go ahead before sending back the bucatini. It was a nice touch as some restaurants usually have it timed for the entrees to come at a certain time. Even though she asked, there was no lag and I got my food in what seemed like record time. While I initially wasn't going to drink, I decided to get a glass of prosecco to pair with the bucatini. The first few bites of my bucatini were even better than I had hoped. The sauce was creamy but not too much. It was as if the texture was velvet because of how smooth it was. I noticed there were sesame seeds throughout the dish and while I didn't understand before I got to try it, it def made sense after a few bites. The sesame seeds were little bursts of flavor and It accompanying the pepper, pecorino, and sauce was a hit! My glass of prosecco was refreshing and paired well with my dish. Don't be fooled by the smaller portions because although I only had one arancino and a half size of pasta, I still left full! The vibe and ambiance of the restaurant is classy and sophisticated, but with a touch of urban flair. I felt like I was in Brooklyn for a second because of the decor, the energy, and how relaxing the atmosphere was. We chose Scout's Restaurant for a birthday dinner and were really looking forward to it, but the experience felt underwhelming. We had a group of eight and, even after asking, did not receive much guidance on the menu. There were no recommendations on how many dishes to order, how to pace courses, or what works best to share. Ordering felt more confusing than it should have for a first visit. Service was slow and felt impersonal throughout the night. When the food arrived, there were not enough appetizers to go around the table, which added to the sense that the experience was not set up well for a group dinner. The drinks were fine but did not stand out. The flank steak was chewy, sent back and the pastas were mid. We brought a birthday cake and were told they could not provide plates or allow us to cut and serve it, and the birthday itself was never acknowledged. That was disappointing given the occasion. The lighting also made things feel off. The dining room lights were dimmed, but the brightness from the open kitchen was distracting and so harsh at the table. The space and concept have a lot of potential, but we likely won't return to the area. To top it off, one of my friend's car was towed from the street during dinner. read more

Our table tried all the cocktails and no one was super impressed, a little to out there with some of the flavors and I sent one back which they were happy to make right, the old Cuban was a good one for me. For the entrees my husband and I split the beef dish and one of the pastas. Beef was cooked a little inconsistently. Many at the table ordered pasta and that seemed to be where they shined! Came for our first visit to Scouts for our anniversary and it won't be our last. Emma and Carson took great care of us at the bar! The drinks were delish - we had the Old Cuban and Mai Tai. I am not always a rum cocktail girly but these were great! Food-wise we had the sourdough bread, arancini, bucatini, radiatori, half chicken, carrots, and dessert. Everything is made in house and it shows. While I would not be mad to have any of these items again, think the winner of the night was the radiatori - amazing! Really appreciate that they offer half portions of the pasta dishes, it made trying more items manageable...although we definitely could've devoured a full radiatori! My expectations for Scout's were high given the social media hype and reservation difficulty; unfortunately, the experience left me unimpressed. The snacks were not memorable, and the small menus felt limited: especially since they were out of several items. They had just started a new menu, so perhaps they are still figuring things out. The Old Cuban cocktail was well balanced, but the martini was not to my taste. While the entrees were a step up from the starters: the execution was inconsistent. My radiatori pasta was flavorful and cooked al dente, but my steak arrived overcooked despite ordering it medium-rare; notably, another guest's steak at the table was cooked correctly. The desserts were the highlight of the meal: the cannoli and panna cotta were excellent. This feels like a 3.5 star establishment: better than a 3, but 4 feels generous. read more

Such a cute place! My sister and her gf got us a reservation in the "living room" and the couches were super comfy.. low to the ground but comfy nonetheless. I like how there are several different rooms like in a home and they offer multiple experiences in one place. Our server was absolute dynamite.. offered great recommendations and quick service. As for the food, I live for an elevated menu. From the cabbage to the arancini with the egg yolk.. the flavors were endless. I do think it's a little pricey but you pay for top notch service and quality food with creative flair. I wish we were able to try the butternut squash but I loved the pasta which had a cacio e pepe vibe. You can split whole pastas by a couple or get a half and I love having the options. The decor of the restaurant was warm and cozy and made for the perfect intimated date night vibe we were looking for. For starters, we ordered hummus and fried artichoke for appetizers. Both of which I enjoyed, alongside my Sazerac which was mixed well (thanks bartender). The main entrees were great by the way, I had the seared salmon with cauliflower and potatoes (Paired with a red Cabernet selected by Will) which turned out to be an excellent choice. My husband and I went here this evening for our 10th anniversary. The entire experience just made this anniversary so much more special. Little touches like the signed post cards we were given for our anniversary to "would you like a purse hook". Things like that matter! The staff incredible. So personable and like we were old friends, and not in an uncomfortable way. The whole restaurant is just so lovely!
