This was an encore visit; as I had a lovely experience just a week ago. Today I decided to try different items on the menu along with my dining companion, who's never been to LT. We arrived promptly for our 5:30pm reservation. My dining companion thoroughly enjoyed the pork belly & lobster roll. I loved the Nashville oysters but felt the Caesar salad & fried rice were lackluster. My cosmo was perfect, I appreciate bartender's attention to detail. The space is small, intimate, chill vibe with dim ambiance. My complaint is in mid-conversation our server came over and said, "ok ladies we'll have to wrap this up the wedding party is arriving". My friend and I were super perplexed. No one indicated upon arrival that we were on borrowed time due to a private event. This would've been helpful to know ahead so we could determine if we wanted to keep the reservation or not. We started with Brussels sprouts and holy mother of god they were amazing. The fried rice with all the fixin's added in was also divine. The other dish we got was the steak which was good. We love this place. It's definitely worth checking out during their happy hour which is Monday through Friday 5 to 630 where they have $12 cocktails and a small discounted food menu. Definitely, definitely, definitely make a reservation because they are usually booked on the weekends. We love to sit at the lazy Tiger bar because the bartender is awesome and it's much quieter than the tables in my opinion and great for just two people on a date night . My favorite cocktail is the "too much mustard". My husband rotates, but he likes the "lazy tiger". We came here for a speciality dinner back in January and omg. I still remember it. The menu was perfectly curated - we were served family style and it was SO MUCH FOOD. We were worried we would leave hungry but that wasn't the case at all. I distinctly remember how amazing their nachos were (which is not something we usually order since we think we can make them at home but I'm so glad we got them!). The flavors are so unique and delicious, and really capture the theme of the restaurant. The drinks were SUPER unique, thought out, and amazing in taste. Sometimes when we try unique drinks they just don't hit the mark on taste. But these do. The bartender is fantastic. I can't wait to go back and try it on a normal night. The cocktails are a bit "complex" at lazy tiger, not your run of the mill drinks, so if you prefer something simple it might not be the place to go, but I do think everyone can find something there. Rachel got a fish sandwich she said was one of the best fish sandwiches she's had in her life! Last night, my daughters and I went to Lazy Tiger for dinner, and it was incredible! From the beginning, we were welcomed by a wonderful hostess with the most adorable curls, setting the tone for an amazing evening. Everything from the drinks--like the Lucky Lips and the Lazy Tiger--to the food was fantastic. The happy hour menu was also a standout, with each item being absolutely wonderful. The salmon from the main menu was cooked perfectly by the chef, and the crab fritters were heavenly. Our waitress was attentive, charming, and fantastic (my apologies for not remembering her name--she had long dark hair). The lazy tiger is a place that I cannot wait to visit again! When my friends and I arrived for happy hour and snacks we were one of the only tables inside since we got there right at 5 pm. It eventually started to get packed, but we had our table so it was alright. The space is smaller with a few tables and a bar area. We each looked at the cocktail menus and were impressed with the amount of items available and they even had some festive holiday drinks too! We ordered our drinks and the bartenders got to work creating them for us. Mid-way through our cocktails, we did each decide to order a snack. Unlike Yellowbelly, Lazy Tiger seats approximately 20 people with the primary focus of serving signature cocktails and small plates. The drink list includes several original cocktails suitable for any taste. Based on a recommendation from the server, I ordered the jungle cat, which features a combination of mezcal, vermouth, lime, cucumber and mint. To my surprise, the drink was playfully served over shaved ice a in a lucky cat tiki mug. Not only was the presentation of the drink a hit, but the flavors were well balanced making it smooth and enjoyable. The menu also features several small plates designed to accommodate a range of appetites. Given that I was only there for happy hour, a friend and I shared a bowl of beef fat french fries. The fries were well seasoned and served with a delicious house made sauce. I ordered the calming water which is a gin cocktail made with green kiwi, natural muscat, French long beans, rhum agricole, and lemon. Overall, the cocktail had a light herbal taste to it and was refreshing. The drink had a nice lemon forward finish to it and I definitely had to stop myself from getting another one! We also ordered the beef fat French fries to split. The fries were fried perfectly and flavored well. They also came with a delicious garlic ranch sauce. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. I'm a seafood lover and have struggled to find quality seafood in STL. However, Lazy Tiger did not disappoint. The ceviche was so refreshing and tasty. TL:DR - One of the top 3 cocktail bars in STL. Lazy Tiger can be a bit challenging to find,being at the very back of the Yellowbelly restaurant. However, it is well worth the search. This small bar has a dark, intimate vibe perfect for date night; however, you can have just as great a time sitting alone at the tiny four seat bar as the bartender here is awesome--great conversation, clear passion for mixing, and may even offer you some samples from the bar. The menu consists of a diverse set of cocktails intuitively broken up into blocks by vibe. One of the elements that sets Lazy Tiger apart from other bars in the area is how unique the flavor profiles and textures of the drinks are through the combination of a wide variety of spirits from around the globe and different preparation techniques like milk clarification. The menu will rotate occasionally but some of my previous favorites include the Freezer Door Martini and Humble Brag. Connected to their partner restaurant and bar, Yellowbelly, Lasy Tiger takes a different approach to their cocktail program shifting the focus to agave spirits. I started with the Railroad man which they had discounted for happy hour. A spirit forward libation, the earthiness of the reposado cut through the bourbon really well to create an interesting flavor combination I was a big fan of. It was earthy, oaky with just enough sweetness to maintain the balance it needed. Next up was the Glamour Profession. This was a much more crushable cocktail. Incredibly light and refreshing, but still maintaining the funkiness you love with the Jamaican rum. You don't often see bourbon and tequila mixed, or rum and tequila mixed, Lazy Tiger hit the mark on both. My friend got the floor is guave. Wow, so incredible. The smoky, floral notes of the mezcal were highlighted perfectly while the guava offset it just enough to keep from overpowering the drink. The food was amazing. I grabbed the black bean nachos and beef fat fries. The fries are crispy, salty, and just flat out delicious. Let's not mince words, they are elite. Point blank. The garlic ranch is so tangy. There is a reason every table inside had an order of these. The black bean nachos were just as impressive. The chips were so fresh they were still glistening from the fryer. The queso was rich, and the beans were just salty enough. Pair that with the crema, cotija cheese, and fresh peppers and every bite left you with a rich succulence that kept you coming back for more. The vibes inside are amazing. The music and conversation are loud enough that you always hear them, but not so loud they impede your conversations, a difficult balance to achieve. I'm a seltzer/ wine drinker, but I truly don't think that anything beats a really great cocktail when you're in the mood for one! It's a little spot right next to Yellowbelly, and if you're not looking for it, you could totally miss it. I feel like that's part of the appeal. It's such a great spot, small and mighty! We sat at the bar and I had the Budgy Smuggler and the Southpaw (yes I had 2, you only turn 30 something once, yall). The bartender was incredibly knowledgeable about the drinks and the science that goes behind each one. As stated earlier, it was truly a great way to end my birthday.
