Celebrated a friend's pending nuptials with several other ladies in a private room at Idol Wolf. The service was top notch and I adored the atmosphere (I am in love with everything about the 21c museum hotel). We started with several appetizers and did a four course menu with wine pairings. The wine and the sommelier were very good and I loved the food but by the time the fourth course came out, none of us could hardly touch our plates we were so full. Not a critique of the restaurant, quite the opposite. Of notable mentions: SERRANO HAM AGED 18 MONTHS, CHORIZO SPICED CHIPS SPANISH OLIVES, ROASTED GARLIC, CITRUS, PIQUILLO PEPPER, THYME, RED WINE VINEGAR, OLIVE OIL ALBONDIGAS, PORK AND BEEF MEATBALLS, SPANISH TOMATO SAUCE, MANCHEGO SOBRASADA TOAST, ORANGE, GOAT CHEESE, UNION LOAFERS TOAST (do NOT pass this up!) Cant wait to go back for a date night with my hubby! read more

We came here during graduation week and it was excellent. Tapas restaurant inside a funky hotel. Cocktails were delicious. We started with Serrano ham, sardines, olives, pan con to are with manchego cheese. All really good Tapas. We then had Patatas Bravas which were outstanding. We got shrimp ajiilo, octopus, empanadas, hen of the woods, and the seafood paella. All very good. We skipped dessert as no flan on menu. Service was friendly but a bit spotty. Street parking available. The hotel has a weird modern unisex bathroom. Not my preference. read more

This is one of my favorite spots for dinner before a show at Enterprise or Stifel (only a 10 minute walk!). The food is unique and always tasty. I especially love the meatballs, Caesar salad, and fried cauliflower. The vibe is dark & sexy, and the servers are always friendly and attentive. My only complaint is the acoustics. There is no music and very few soft surfaces to absorb the sound. Because of this you can hear everything - from chewing to every conversation around you. Still, it's a solid choice for for a delicious meal in a stylish atmosphere. read more

Beautiful intimate placement inside of hotel 21c. Lady made reservations for my birthday dinner and they did not disappoint. Service was stellar and they even mentioned my birthday! We ordered the seafood paella, ceaser salad, and a dish with chorizo and some sort of cake at the bottom. Everything was great. Fine dining experience for sure but with comfort. Although experience was great there's not much on the menu I'd be rushing back to try. We sampled what we eat and were satisfied. read more

I really want to give this place a 4 stars but think it should've be a bit better. I will definitely try it again and re-review. The atmosphere and the service were all excellent. I just felt that the food was bland, especially my tortilla. The mojo rojo sauce had flavor but it wasn't in the tortilla just a bit on the sides. The fries that were side on the other 2 plates were good but overly salted. I would recommend this place if someone was from out of town. But this will not be my first choice of breakfast, especially since it should be better at the price point it is. read more

This place is AMAZING! Nestled inside 21C hotel, it's got everything. We paid for street parking, but the valet guy told us you can leave your car with valet and the restaurant will validate. As you walk into the hotel, the ambiance is just phenomenal. The decor is super cute and chic. There is an art gallery on the 2nd floor to check out. I would highly recommend a reservation (through OpenTable). We were greeted by a very friendly and warm gentleman (Jack I think was his name). We needed to wait about 5 min before we could be seated, so we checked out the bar. The bartenders were on it! Drinks were awesome and service was spectacular. The view to the sunset outside was nice too. Once seated, we were promptly greeted by our server (Adler). The entire service he was so warm and friendly. He was super super amazing! Honestly, he was one of the best servers we've had in any restaurant in a LONG time! (We told him so!) My boyfriend ordered paella and my guest and I ordered Market Steak. We had a couple of appetizers as well. Because it was my birthday celebration, I got a chocolate cheesecake with a raspberry sorbet. Everything tasted top notch & heavenly! Part of what impressed me about this establishment was how all the servers helped one another. For example, we had finished an appetizer and another server saw the empty dishes and came by to pick them up. Our drinks were almost empty and yet another server asked if we wanted more. There was a lady who was serving the food so servers could focus on the dining room. This truly was an amazing experience!! Thank you!!! read more

Foods was delicious. Love the tapas concept. Shareable plates so more items can be sampled. The choice of cocktails, sangria & wine was incredible. Our server was wonderful & friendly, she guided us as first timers on what to order Note: the paella is a must! Can't wait to return to try what we missed read more

Cocktails are fantastic. Ambience is absolutely gorgeous with high ceilings and artistic flair! Beautiful patio in the summer months. Brunch food was okay, I prefer their dinner menu for the consistency and variety. Sit at the bar for quick service and bartenders with great personality. Honestly a solid place to just go for some drinks and relax with your partner. read more

We tried the Albondigas (pork and beef meatballs, Spanish tomato sauce & manchego) and the Sobrasada Toast (orange, goat cheese, union loafers toast) as well as a few other dishes. The toast was recommended by our server and it was amazing. The server said it was his favorite item on the menu and it did not disappoint. This restaurant is also worth visiting just for the beautiful art in the 21c hotel. Don't forget to look at the museum before leaving! It was great. read more

We were disappointed in our first visit to this place. Yes the ambiance is very nice but our service and food were meh. We started with the Caesar salad which was really good! Best part of our meal. Beef cheek empanadas were good, very rich and kinda small. They are served with 2 sauces on the side. (Cilantro and pepper) The sauces were good. We then had the paella. Presentation was great. There were at least 8 muscles that were tasty but the rest of the dish was soooo salty. I had 1 spoonful of paella and that was it. We ended up taking 2/3 of it home but I couldn't eat any of the leftovers either. Grace, our waitress, had asked us how we liked it and we were honest. All she said was she would pass it on to the chef. Then it seemed like she was in a hurry to get us out of there. I have read that people receive cotton candy as a dessert but we didn't- not sure why. I will give this place another go but won't be in a hurry to try it again. read more

Food was amazing - tapas style and everything we had was amazing. We were visiting from out of town and made a reservation for the next night as well as we had friends coming in and wanted them to experience as well. I had been wanting to try Idol Wolf since they opened, but finally had the right occasion this past Saturday. I will say I think there was just a little too much of a hype, but we still had a good experience. There were no reservations available for Saturday, but we were promptly seated in the lounge. The ambiance wasn't as cool, but it was inviting and had a nice large bar space. The service was great, from the gentlemen at the valet, to the servers. The food was good, not as good as I expected, but good- we shared about 8 different tapas and the burger. But even for tapas, I thought the portions were pretty small and the prices were pretty high. I think my favorites were the Spanish Caesar and the sobrasada toast. Overall, I'm glad we tried it, but nothing really stuck out that I would need to frequent. read more

Came here for a girls' night and highly recommend! The ambience is fantastic, and the decor and artwork are simply adorable. The museum itself is a must-see, and we enjoyed walking through it after our meal. The Spanish classics menu did not disappoint - standouts were the sea bass, beef empanadas, shrimp, and broccolini. The sopa was our least favorite, but overall, a great dining experience in a unique setting! read more

Idol wolf has good vibe , nice ambience and decoration but gotta keep the standards. Service was slow, and the staff needs to be more prepared to serve in such restaurant. Our servers (who took the order and who delivered the food) do not know the menu. We showed the plate we want to waiter who took the order but it came a different plate, and the waitress who deliver the food did not know the plates being served. Ordered latte and cappuccino both came cold twice, we ended up getting coffee from coffee bar and we were told that the coffee will be removed but it was still on the bill. Food: ordered three plates : We got baked basque; we were asking for different plate, regardless this plate was tasty flavorful had tomatoes been a and egg on top with fried toasts on the side, was not heavy compared to the ingredients it has and just the right amount Huevo rotos with chorizo : was a bad choice , it was dipped with oil, flavorless could t taste any thing but oil Huevo rotos with roasted squash was my top plate from the three, everything was cooked well but the poached eggs to the potatoes to the squash, full of color and taste , delightful meal. Overall venue is beautiful, food was Ok, but staff and service needs to be worked on. Esthetics are not everything read more

Everything was amazing about this place - from the decor to the hand crafted cocktails, the only thing better was the food. First time at 21c Hotel and Idol Wolf. Hotel is absolutely amazing and I heard such great things about the restaurant. Sadly, it was disappointing. Service & Ambiance We had a 8:30p reservation on a Friday night and got there 15min early to check-in. We waited for 20min AFTER 8:30p to be seated. An employee came over to inform us that the people at our table is taking longer and offered free drinks. Everything about the atmosphere was terrific! Service during our meal was OKAY. Nothing too much to say. Food The price did not match the quality and taste of the food. Our favorite dish was the appetizer, beautifully baked bread with fresh crush tomatoes and cheese on top. Everything was just simple OK. We got three tapas, meatballs, Argentina shrimp, and empanadas. Then we got the Paella which I was extremely excited for as a seafood lover. Flavor fell flat and didn't wow. The only thing about the dish was the well seasoned shrimp. Our shrimp sadly wasn't cooked all the way through. Overall, Idol Wolf is an amazing concept with great artisan drink that simply fell flat when it comes to great tasting food. I am on the fence to trying it again. read more

Conflicted here between a 3 and 4 star review. Overall, we ordered 3 items to share and ended up sending back the "warm olives" due to the fact that they were not warm, and they were literally just olives drenched in vinegar.. no herbs, nothing to eat them with. Just a bowl of olives that had vinegar sloppily poured over. The ambiance is nice, service was decent, and the cotton candy at the end of the meal was good. We did have to request that, and the server seemed somewhat bothered that we wanted it. read more

If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would. We made reservations for dinner on Thanksgiving, showed up on time (a few minutes early is on time in my opinion), and were promptly seated. And that's all the service we got. Sitting down in a restaurant for nearly 30 minutes. No server stopped by to make introductions, provide a menu, or offer water. All the surrounding tables received service continuously. And these adjacent servers refused to make eye contact when we tried to grab their attention. We got up and asked to speak to the manager. The team member at the hostess desk made a facial expression I refuse to describe here - that's how awful it was. Eventually, Adder, the manager appeared and was not helpful at all. No apologies, no attempts to make things right, nothing. Thank you for ruining thanksgiving dinner for a couple who did not have the opportunity to travel to family this year. read more

I've had Idol Wolf on my list to check out for the longest time and finally had a chance to visit. For 4 adults we started off with some Patatas Bravas, Pan Con Tomate, with Serrano ham. All of which were fantastic. Then we got few more small plates : sides to share: Hen of the woods, Grilled Broccolini, Croquetas, meat ball, and Beef cheek empanadas. For main we ordered paella which presented beautifully as expected and by this point we were pretty stuffed and had a good portion to take home. Over all experience was not bad with amazing food, however service was little disappointing and rather slow and they've made few errors (wrong item came out, and wrong wine). I am still giving 5 stars because it just could've been the staffing issue for the night and food was spectacular. Definitely best paella in town! read more

I LOVED the pan con tomate. Ambience was lovely, service was great. Highly recommend the cocktail list.

My partner and I have been wanting to try Idol Wolf for sometime. The ambience and service were great. The waiter was attentive and recommended great drinks. I highly recommend the Sangria! I did not give 5 stars, however, because the seafood paella was over seasoned. I felt as though every bite was full of saffron. I couldn't fully appreciate the seafood components. In comparison to other paellas I have had, I would recommend something else. The fried cauliflower is a great alternative. read more

Just....wow! So glad I finally made it to idol wolf, and already cannot wait to go back. Pictures do not do this place justice. The bar area and dining room are absolutely gorgeous. As is the hotel it resides in. Absolutely loved exploring the art exhibits after dinner as well. We were greeted promptly by our server Amber who was phenomenal the whole night. She took time to explain things about the menu and was great at offering recommendations. We started with the pickled white anchovies which I was in love with! The kale salad was both fresh, and savory. We ordered the gambas al ajillo, the albondigas, and the empanadas. All of which were fantastic as well! Sadly, there was no room for dessert but this just gives me one more reason I'll be rushing back to idol wolf. The whole experience was amazing. read more

Idol Wolf is in the 21C hotel. It is best to get reservations if you want a table in the dining area. However, there were quite a few tables in the Lounge/Bar area which are on a first come first serve basis and also offers the full menu and has wait staff. The format is tapas, which for me is slang for pay a lot more for a lot less quantity. That said, my wife and I shared the Olives, Almonds and Fabada and absolutely loved every bit of it. Each dish was unique and flavorful. Idol Wolf executed tapas the best way I can imagine...small portions of unique and well conceived and executed dishes unlike anything else you've had. I want to spend a second on the Fabada, which is beans, blood sausage, and pork belly. The pork belly was the best I HAVE EVER HAD. It was not a large portion, so only a few bites each for my wife and I, but it was spectacular. Fully rendered inside and crispy on the outside. Combined with the beans and sausage it was quite a dish. They have a full bar so you can get a nice glass of wine, local beer on draft or any mixed drinks you can imagine. As an added bonus, after dinner we walked around the art gallery on the second floor of the hotel. You can't get that at other restaurants! My wife and I will definitely be back. read more

First off, the atmosphere is posh. I felt so young and hip being in this cool stylish spot surrounded by the coolest artwork that speaks of those television scenes where swanky people give their ostentatious reviews. And I liked every minute of it. Modern art vibe without the pretension. The hosts and servers are so nice and we were seated quickly as people apologized for making us wait while a table was cleaned. That place was hopping so why apologize to little ole me? We were given a menu and realized it was a tapas bar. I have to admit I always love the creativity that goes into each tapas dish. And this place I would return to again and again. The food was flavorful with different textures. It really attacks your senses in great ways. There was one mushroom dish that I would order over a meat dish, it was that delicious. I apologize that this review doesn't list plates or have pics but you have to believe me - this place cannot go wrong. It is a must if you are in St. Louis, Missouri. I wish I could eat here often. But beware, like most tapas bars, it can add up pretty quickly. Four small plates costs us around $80. I am glad I am a grownup. If I was younger maybe I would need four people to pay for four dishes. read more

Very chic and modern Spanish-centric restaurant located in the new 21c St. Louis hotel downtown which used to be the downtown YMCA! The building has been beautifully updated and renovated! There is art everywhere in the hotel, so go a little early and walk around! I thought the food was good, we ordered a dish from every category. Enough food to share with one other person! The drinks were nice as well! The service was fast and our server was helpful and informative. You also receive complimentary cotton candy with your check at the end of the night! read more

When they say you "get what you pay for" they are really telling you that you need a 21C Hotel- Idol Wolf experience. I heard wonderful reviews about this restaurant and on a more personal level knew that I had to dine here at least once. My family and friends surprised me for my birthday with dinner at Idol Wolf!! It seemed that Idol Wolf was booked to capacity however that did not... in any way, shape or form... take away from my first impression. We all ordered different appetizers, entrees and drinks. Some of us shared dishes and sips to ensure the full effect of our visit. I sampled at least 10 items and literally every single bite that I took was quite impressive and unique. The ambiance and atmosphere made the hustle and bustle seem nonexistent. Staff was absolutely focused on providing a spectacular experience. We would have appreciated sitting at one table together but we were thankful that the two round tables accommodated the amount of guests that were in our group. After dinner, we journeyed upstairs to the art gallery, which was where I encountered my absolute zen. Art has been a huge factor in my existence so strolling by each piece and reading their description gave me so much peace. An added bonus was meeting someone who shared my exact birthday... same month, day and year. Mateo if you read this, then again I say thank you for being a part of my fabulous birthday celebration!! read more

10/10 dinner experience this evening! My friend and I both had the Lofts of Beetopia cocktail which was well crafted. We then decided to split 2 tapas and 2 from the sea options. From the tapas, the Patatas Brava and the Chorizo Roasted Hen of the Woods were both excellent and highly recommended by our server, Lucy. We then split the Squid Ink Pasta & the Gambas Al Ajillo which were perfectly portioned for all we were splitting. We finished dinner surprised by complimentary cotton candy! Again our waitress Lucy was exceptional in helping with recommendations & checking in to make sure everything was great. Very aesthetically pleasing spot, would definitely come back! read more

Went for dinner on a Thursday evening, had reservations ahead of time. Restaurant was not too crowded, maybe two thirds full, moderately noisy. Wait staff were attentive and nice. Food seemed to take a little longer than expected but everything was hot and well prepared: papatas bravas, hen of the woods, pan con tomate, squid ink pasta, jamon croquettas. WOW...honestly that would be a sufficient review but I guess I'll elaborate. I stopped into the lounge last night for dinner before Beyoncé () and if it weren't for the Queen herself, I'd have stayed all evening. First of all, 21C is insane. It's GORGEOUS. You really feel like you're on vacation right on Locust street. Secondly, as for Idol Wolf, there is a lounge section, a billiard room, and a dining room so check the hours for each as they're different (you do need dining reservations but the lounge is open seating). We ordered a few items from both the dinner menu and the lounge menu as well as a mocktail (the mule) and a cocktail (hibiscus gin) and were extremely happy with all our selections (see pics ). It definitely started to get busy around 6:45/7 but our waitress was still incredible and attentive and we were super pleased with her as well. Overall 12/10 for vibe, food, and service and I'll definitely be back! read more

Amazing restaurant, absolutely gorgeous, I felt like I wasn't in stl as soon as I stepped foot into the hotel where this restaurant is located. The waiter thoroughly explained any questions we had about the menu and really went in depth about the flavors that were to be included in each dish. I can't say anything tasted bad. The half smoked chicken was so juicy and tasty, I shared this and the octopus with my friend and it was enough to fill us.
