IDOL WOLF - Dessert is served - Tapas/Small Plates Near Me - Saint Louis, Missouri

Everything here was phenomenal, from the decor to the drinks, to the food and the service...simply amazing! The restaurant sits inside the 21c Museum Hotel which is absolutely exquisite. I'm very particular when it comes to my drinks. I explained to the waiter what I was looking for and he suggested the blackberry sage spritzer and it was incredible. The menu is tapas style, so we ordered a little bit of everything. My favorites were the Albondigas, Beef Cheek Empanadas, Pan Con Tomate and the Field Green Salad. I was to full to order dessert, but they give you complimentary cotton candy. It truly is a one of a kind culinary experience! read more

Thoroughly impressed with the quality of food here. Overall good service and nice ambience, the tapas were top-notch. The drinks are definitely large and very delicious, you're getting your moneys worth, especially with the price tag. The tapas are also really well sized portions and so I would say it's actually quite well priced for the amount of food you get. Great option for vegetarians, a lot of the menu menu is friendly. definitely would recommend the chorizo dish, it was a blast.! read more

Idol Wolf is located inside a Boutique Hotel in St. Louis, and what a fantastic place. There is art that is interwoven into the restaurant (hence the penguins), giving it a unique ambiance. The food was good, but can pack a little bit of spice. The jamon sticks and their cheesecake was my favorite! Our server was great and provided context to the art work read more

Whoa! I had the opportunity to visit and try Idol Wolf, and I enjoyed every moment of it. Service was outstanding. The food was excellent and memorable. We had the pan con tomate, almost every tapa, empanadas, tuna toast, seafood paella, tenderloin, and all the desserts. We enjoyed every dish. I think my go tos will be the pan con tomate, tuna toast, seafood paella, and churros. I'm sorry i can't be more detailed; you just need to go and see for yourself! read more

Steak and tapas were very good, but the paella has really declined since last January. It is now basically a pile of rice with only clams and shrimp. None of the fish variety of the past. They even skimped on peas and peppers! Yet still charged $58. Big Disappointment and a poor value. Not going back. read more

Food was absolutely amazing! The restaurant was beautiful. Service was perfect. Wasn't rushed and was very helpful!

Great service with information on every dish. Drinks and wine were top notch. Enjoyed all the dishes but especially the mushrooms and the dessert. Intimate dining not too crowded or dark with a fun atmosphere. If we lived near here we'd come back often. Highly recommend read more

Came here for tapas. We had the "chorizo" hen of the woods, pan con tomate, bindings, and jambon croquettes. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and design of the space. We were a little disappointed in the jambon croquettes - they were mostly creamy béchamel in a deep fried crust with just a frizzle of jambon on top. My complaint is mostly that I was expecting more jambon and more texture, so was a bit disappointed. It was still tasty. Everything else met or exceeded my expectations. I especially enjoyed the pan con tomate and hen of the woods. I would definitely visit again if I'm in town. read more

The atmosphere is amazing! Our server recommended his favorites and made helpful suggestions. Our drinks were on point. We started with the Caesar salad, which was outstanding. We ordered the meatballs, which were also very good. We split the paella and took some of the rice home. It was fantastic. We decided to treat ourselves to the cheesecake, which was possibly the best we've ever had. We will return to have tapas only. read more

Bonus points for cool decor and very good server. Food was ok. Value was pretty good. Drinks were reasonably priced. Hotel in which it is housed has many cool features and an art gallery on the second floor. We tried many dishes. None were particular stand outs. A couple of vegan options. Heavy seafood bias on the menu. I really enjoy Spanish tapas and this evening was "OK". read more

Tasty dinner in a hotel restaurant. Enjoyed an impromptu meal after we checked in from driving all day. Enjoyed the tapas style dishes as well as cocktails from the bar. Service was efficient. Dress code ranged from very casual to dressy casual. We were able to get seated quickly on a Thursday evening around 7, restaurant was pleasantly busy but reservation likely recommended for a popular time on the weekends. read more

An early reservation on a Saturday night. We hoped for later but 5pm and 9:30 pm seemed to be our choices 2 weeks ahead. Plan accordingly. We had a drink in the bar first, then a couple of glasses of wine with dinner. Dinner included some warm olives as an appetizer followed by 4 separate selections from the tapas menu. We tried a potato tapa, cod croquettes, beef cheeks empanadas, pork/beef meatballs. Almond cake with coffee ice cream to finish. Enjoyed all of them. Great variety. Broad use of lemon was refreshing but perhaps heavy-handed. The bill was as expected or a slight surprise on the low side. Located in 21C hotel- lots to look at in the hotel spaces-gallery rooms. Folks should budget time before or after to look around - it's worth it! Lots to enjoy before or after dinner. We certainly look forward to returning and bringing friends with whom to share this find. read more

We had an excellent experience at Idol Wolf! We came in early and sat in the bar area. We got tapas while we waited for them to open and everything was amazing! A few things I would highly suggest are the pan con tomate and the albóndigas. The meatballs especially were amazing! The paella was delicious as well! I would probably skip the cheese board in the future, but I would come back! read more

I loved this salad place. The salad selection was large and the salad fresh and delicious. I got the bacon ranch salad. First time at 21C Hotel -Idol Wolf for a birthday celebration on 10/10/2024. The 21C hotel is just beautiful! The restaurant is decorated nicely. I like the valet service available and the restaurant does validate parking! Service: There was five of us total! Two of us were seated early at 6pm for a reservation at 6:15pm. The rest of the party arrived 6:23pm. Our waiter, I am unsure of spelling, sounds like Mik or Mic, he looked bothered from beginning to end at serving our table. Felt rushed and not so friendly! We did not feel welcomed. This type of service makes us not want to come back to trying it again. Drinks: the drinks are on the stronger side. It was not enjoyable to finish. Food: to share as a table, we ordered seafood paella, fried cauliflower, Argentinian red shrimp, squid ink pasta, corn & sobrasada toast. I did like the toast , cauliflowers, and squid ink pasta. Everything was not too bad. EXCEPT for the paella which was the most expensive and biggest course to share, this was disappointment since we all were excited for this. It was very soggy, texture tastes undercooked, the seafood on there was bland. Flavors were flat. The Argentinian red shrimp was very salty and the sauce was not pleasant to eat. The prices listed do not match with the taste or size of the food. read more

Located in a beautifully renovated building, Idol Wolf is entered through the amazing lobby of the 21c hotel and art museum. Truly a stunning setting visually- be sure to visit the 2nd floor art gallery and notice the one of a kind artwork disguised as wall covering and carpet on the stairway. The restaurant is smallish and also nicely decorated with comfortable seating. The high ceilings and minimal fabric contribute to a fairly noisy environment- when the restaurant is full it can be hard to hear the server or your table mates - this isn't the best place for sharing conversation which I found unfortunate as a good portion of the menu is designed for sharing. We were able to taste a good number of their tapas, an appetizers as well as paella. The pan con tomate was well presented and well prepared - this dish seemed to be the favorite of everyone at the table. The paella was also enjoyable with a good proportion of seafood to rice. The rice was perfectly toothsome. The tuna on toast lacked the beef marrow aioli flavor I was seeking, well prepared but mostly reminiscent of a good tuna salad on Union Loafer's epic toast. The grilled octopus was very well cooked and tender, the potato accompaniment complimented the dish nicely. The chorizo spice the octopus was plated with offered a nice textural change from the potato and octopus, but overall I did not find a lot of flavor in the dish other than the chorizo. The squid ink pasta was nicely al dente and calamari pieces were tender. The dish had a noticeable lemon overtone. We opted for the coffee ice cream and tarta de Santiago for dessert. The ice cream is house made with a well balance coffee flavor. The tarta was my personal favorite dish of the night. Table consensus found most of the dishes seemed slightly over salted. Overall, the concept is great, and I'm a big fan of Spanish cuisine. I'd try dinner here again as we dined mid week; perhaps it was an off day in the kitchen Our server was attentive, and did an excellent job with pacing. Table bussing and water refills were timed perfectly. read more

So much hype about this place... just not worth it. The service was mediocre (took over 20 min to get served at the bar while 3 staff were on their phones, once seated a similar amount of time for wait staff to approach the table), the food was overpriced and not done well at all. The kitchen uses far too much salt, protein temperature was all over the place and it took forever. Bar Moro is far far better if you're wanting this kind of food (and has far better service). The location is problematic - definitely somewhere where you need to maintain situational awareness, and parking / valet is a nightmare. Given the hype, the clientele is fascinating so the people watching is interesting; but otherwise the ambience is forced and seems like a knock off of somewhere else. read more

IDOL WOLF - Roasted Cauliflower & Patatas Bravas - Tapas/Small Plates Near Me - Saint Louis, Missouri

Idol Wolf is a 5-star gem for Foodies and allergy-sensitive diners alike. I stumbled upon Idol Wolf while Googling from Seattle, trying to plan a memorable dining experience for my 17-year-old Foodie son and our close family Foodie friend during their visit to WashU. While I couldn't be there in person, I was tasked with trip planning and wanted to ensure their evening would be both extraordinary and safe--a high-stakes task when navigating extensive food allergies. From the moment I called Idol Wolf, I knew they were something special. Lucy, one of their incredible team members, went above and beyond to ensure we felt completely at ease. She not only explained the menu in detail but also shared how their kitchen setup could prevent cross-contamination, which is crucial for diners with allergies. Lucy's detailed knowledge of the menu and ingredients was impressive. At my request, she was immediately able to suggest several dishes that they could modify to accommodate my son's dietary needs, and she offered to speak with the chef in advance to ensure everything was perfect. That level of care and attention is so rare and so appreciated! As for the meal? It was a total triumph! Both diners, seasoned Foodies, were blown away by the flavors, presentation, and attentive service. The Spanish Caesar, Patatas Bravas, Serrano Ham, and Olives (prepared with minor modifications) were highlights of the meal, and every dish was beautifully crafted. My son, who's been fortunate to eat at Michellin-rated and James Beard-awarded establishments, couldn't stop talking about how fresh and delicious everything tasted -- it's not every day that a restaurant balances adventurous cuisine and allergy-friendly dining so perfectly. Adding to the charm, Idol Wolf is located in a stylish hotel that also features a museum, which turned out to be the perfect post-dinner surprise. The duo explored the museum after their meal and said it was the ideal way to cap off such an exceptional evening. My son is already making plans to stay at the hotel and dine at Idol Wolf again on his next visit, and honestly, I can't wait to join him next time! Our experience with Idol Wolf was outstanding from start to finish. They excel in every way: phenomenal food, attentive service, and a gorgeous setting. Whether you're managing food allergies or just looking for an unforgettable culinary adventure, this restaurant is a must. Five glowing stars! read more

Arrived about 30 minutes before the restaurant opened ... staff was extremely helpful and attentive. We were escorted to a bar area adjacent to the restaurant and were able to peruse the menu and order the appetizers we'd identified. They were promptly served and Chris our server allowed us to provide our tapas plates and we were actually eating at 5pm. Outstanding! The food was scrumptious - one of us had octopus and the other the red spanish shrimp. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. read more

I came here to celebrate a birthday. The staff was excellent very knowledgeable of the menu and various drinks. Accommodating and considerate of the birthday. The food was good. The ambience the decor the entire restaurant within the hotel is lovely and you completely forget that you're in a hotel. It's a very nice high-end upscale restaurant. The decor was really cute. I loved how some tables were able to dine with the penguins. Next time I definitely want a penguin sitting with me. They had a lot of nice touches. I typically don't like topless, but even though it was tapas, it was still shareable so that was surprising and I think very reasonably priced. The lamb was excellent. I'm still not sure if I liked the crispy rice underneath but the sauce and the flavor paired with the lamb was great. The shrimp with the sauce and the bread delicious very flavorful. I love the broth by itself. Cauliflower was well cooked nicely seasoned and I like the little sauce. The tomato bread with the cheese was interesting, it's pretty much bruschetta. I was very happy and satisfied with my meal the waiter very thoughtful when they brought us our dessert. They put a cute candle there on it and they also gave us complementary champ Onye for the birthday. Very nice touch the champagne was nice. I typically don't like champagne, but it was good. The drinks were great I liked how much Jen and blackberry I got in that huge glass ginger. Mule was nice and I love that type of slushy ice. And finally when you're given the check they give you cotton candy! That was a very pleasant surprise. And if you have time just before after during make sure you look around the hotel because there's excellent artwork within it all around even the bathrooms kinda center youguest as an RP and I like that they were genderless bathrooms. Very well done. Very well thought through. read more

Wow. What a showstopper of a restaurant! First off, the hotel that the restaurant is in is also an art museum. It's stunning! The restaurant follows suit with some really gorgeous architecture and tile work. The food and drinks are phenomenal! I studied abroad for a semester in the south of Spain and so many of these dishes reminded me of the tapas bars and my host mom's dishes, it made my heart so happy!! I drank the red sangria all night, it was so dang good. Before switching to the sangria, my husband had a chorizo margarita. It sounds so strange, but was amazing! We had the true tapas experience and split a bunch- the jamon Serrano plate, gambas al ajillo (garlic shrimp), hen of the woods mushrooms served on a cheese arepa, beef cheek empanadas with two delicious sauces, & white fish croquetas. Everything was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection, it's impossible to pick a favorite. We ended with their traditional paella and it is so worth it!! They are the only restaurant in St. Louis making paella the traditional way and you can taste it! Even leftover the next day, it was fantastic. Perfect for a date night or a group of friends, Idol Wolf should be at the top of your Must Try List! read more

Ok kinda mixed on this one! The decor and vibe of the restaurant are PHENOMENAL!! The art is rly pretty and furniture is fun/unique. I was rly excited about the dishes but a bit let down by a few bc they were too salty. The croquettes were yummy but salty, same with the mushroom masa. And I have a pretty strong palate I feel like. The squid ink pasta was my fave - rly yummy and perfectly Al dente, but such a tiny portion rip. I would overall recommend since the vibe is so good and unique. read more

Service was great our server was very sweet and gave us multiple suggestions off the menu. The ambiance is also very nice there was live music! The food was not good and I actually hate to say it. The paella was over cooked and not well seasoned. The sirloin was pre cut and wasn't cooked medium rare but well done. It was laid on a sauce that was like a teriyaki sauce that didn't compliment the steak. The only food I enjoyed from this dinner was the potatoe purée that was served as a side with the sirloin. read more
