Wonderful oasis of Spanish Mediterranean bites and beverages in the heart of Downtown West. The atmosphere is gorgeous immersive artistic and culinary experience. A former YMCA has been transformed into a lovely hotel and home to Idol Wolf lobby bar and restaurant. Cocktails are unique and curated by the amazing bar manager, Dane. Entrees are delicious and hearty, but the large variety of authentic Tapas is pure joy! read more

As part of our stay at the 21 C we had to try this restaurant located right off the main lobby and it did not disappoint. The flavors of both the burger and tenderloin were absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. I had the tenderloin and the onion pearls and mushrooms served with it were mouthwatering and filling on their own and complimented the meat perfectly. The price of it was not bad at all especially for the size and portions will definitely be coming back. read more

My family and I had an incredible meal at Idol Wolf last night. As we walked in, we were greeted by the hotel manager who was excited to talk about the art and local-focus of the decor. He gave us a mini-tour of the space and made us feel very welcome. You would NEVER believe the restaurant just opened this week; the service was excellent, and so was the food. I was pleasantly surprised by the price points too; from the look of the restaurant, you would expect every dish to be 20 or more, but many are 12-14 dollars, so you can try multiple dishes. Of course, it's tapas, so you are meant to share. Plus, they used some of our local favorites for their bread (Union Loafers) and alcohol (Still 630). Be sure to try the hen of the woods. My son had a NA cocktail and said it was the best drink he had ever tried. We also really liked the cheese board and desserts. The staff kept checking on us to make sure we were happy, and we definitely were. Oh, and you can have a valet part your car. I highly recommend you try this place before they start getting slammed. Big thank you to the entire staff for such a great evening. read more

Cans of room temperature Coke on the table, food stuck to side of table, too much work Ceasars salad with no croutons, bread plates but no bread, but bread showed up with dinner ??? We order the roast chicken and Argentine shrimp, got nothing else, no starch, no veggies. The chicken and shrimp were delicious read more

Yum yum yum. Absolutely top notch. Informal tapas restaurant. Really lovely spot. Everything we had was top notch. Lots of variety. Very extensive drink menu. Moderate pricing for what you get. Really friendly and helpful wait staff. Don't over-order! Menu changes every couple of months read more

Great experience! Food, service, and ambiance were excellent! All of the tapas we tried were delicious as well as the paella.

We made a reservation at this highly anticipated Spanish restaurant opening just two days after they had officially opened. We could not have been happier. Everything was seamless; from the friendly service to the delicious tapas and cocktails. It was an ideal date night spot for us but we also look forward to inviting friends soon. Can't wait to go back! Side note, it's inside the 21c Museum Hotel which is such a gem! read more

Came here for brunch while in town. Food was great and very reasonably priced. Staff was very friendly. We will be back.

From entering the lobby until we left we had a great experience. My friends and I went during brunch and got seated quickly. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable with the menu. When I asked about the menu she recommended me to try the Huevos Rotos Pork Belly Plate and I was not disappointed. My mistake was not reading completely the menu but my plate came with potatoes unknowingly I ordered a side of breakfast potatoes and they were delicious . Next time I go I probably won't order them. We had multiple people check in on our table and we received a complimentary glass of champagne for our Birthdays. The restaurant in itself is clean has beautiful wood around and is nice to sit talk and enjoy a delicious meal. read more

IDOL WOLF - Huevos Rotos FRIED PORK BELLY: MOJO VERDE - Tapas/Small Plates Near Me - Saint Louis, Missouri

This was our first visit to Idol Wolf. We were seeking a new, delicious dinner experience. And Idol Wolf definitely delivered! Standout tapas were: Spanish Caesar Salad, Chorizo Roasted Hen of the Woods" & Corn and Sobrasada Toast. All were Inventive, highly flavorful. My dinner partner & I wanted to try 2 different red wines so the "Quartino" option enabled us to order 2 different reds. Each quartino provided 2 full glasses per carafe. Perfect for us. An absolute high point enhancing our dinner experience was the service we received. Sarah, our server, guided us through the menu, highlighting signature dishes & also made thoughtful suggestions for our wine order. She let us sample wine before ordering. She was knowledgeable, so helpful and we felt unhurried. Finally we loved walking around the hotel after dinner to view the art galleries and to see how this historic building was lovingly restored. All in all, we had a great experience. We will return! read more

Had a delicious brunch! I had the huevos rotos which had crispy potatoes, roasted peppers & poached egg. Also...some roasted squash & tomato jam. It was a lovely amalgam of flavors. The coffee was strong. Also...I highly recommend going to the 2nd floor art gallery. A surprising find with great art. read more

My husband and I just celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary at Idol Wolf and it was amazing. From the gorgeous ambiance to the stellar service and delicious Spanish cuisine, we enjoyed every moment of our dining experience. It felt like we were transported back to Southern Spain! Highlights from our meal were: "chorizo" roasted hen of the woods, albondigas, beef cheek empanadas, seafood paella, and the churros. We are already planning our return visit and are so thankful this beautiful new artistic dining experience with the friendliest staff exists in the heart of our city. read more

Went to Idol Wolf with some foodie friends. The space is beautiful and very interesting. The building was the downtown YMCA in its past. There is a problem though in the main dining room. There is nothing to deaden the sound so it's quite noisy. Very difficult to carry on a conversation. The food was ok. Our group mostly ordered from the Tapas menu with the exception of one paella plate. The paella was very good. I started with the Squid In It's Ink. This dish would have been much better if it wasn't so salty. Salt preference is a personal issue but the table all agreed. We all cook and we all use salt in our cooking. I must say the same thing about my next dish which was the Octopus with Potatoes. The octopus was prepared beautifully except for too much salt. The problem was, there were only three small pieces of octopus compared the eleven pieces of potato. The potatoes were excellent, by the way, except for the salt. The Beef Cheek Empanadas were very good and perfectly seasoned. The sauces were excellent. I managed to miss taking a picture but my dinner also included the Tuna On Toast. The dish was very good but we could barely tase the tuna. The bread the tuna was on was incredibly good. The Albondigas meatballs were good but again, really salty. The Paella was probably the star of the show. Everything in it was spot on. We probably won't go back. read more

My husband and I ate here recently and were very impressed! The restaurant is inside 21C Museum Hotel which used to be the old YMCA building. The ambiance of the restaurant is very swanky, upscale, great mood lighting, fun wallpaper and wood throughout. The bar is large and definitely makes a statement as you enter. There was some slight confusion on who our server was when we were seated which resulted in a slight delay in getting our order started but once it was sorted out it was great from there. The food - absolutely delicious. It's a Spanish tapas restaurant so lots of plates to share but they also have larger plates you can choose for an entree. My husband started with an Old Fashioned and I ordered the Blackberry & Sage Gin Tonic (I don't normally like Gin Tonics but gave it a shot and LOVED it so much I wanted another). For dinner, we got the Serrano Ham, Warmed Spanish Olives, Kale Salad, "Chorizo" Roasted Hen of The Woods, Albóndigas, Sobrasada Toast, and Farmstead Farms Half Chicken... this was absolutely way too much food for us but we love leftovers and we had plenty for another dinner at home for both of us. For dessert we ordered the seasonal Sorbet and Churros. So good but the Sorbet was sooo refreshing (I wish I remembered the flavor!) read more

Honestly, I was hoping for such a better service and experience for a new establishment. This place was so beautiful inside and I enjoyed the artwork when you first walked in. I came with a party of 9 for my grandmother's birthday celebration and I wish I could say I'd come back enthusiastically. For starters, almost every person who took our drink orders were training. This is fine and even great, usually their attitudes are more positive. But not this time. They were slow to take orders, didn't know what simple cocktails were (Moscow Mule), and often times all drinks came out individually instead of at the same time. Again.. not a huge deal breaker. Moving on through the evening, once we were seated, our server took our order with great speed. That was a plus! Unfortunately when our food arrived there were several issues with the heating/temperature of our food (especially the steak & chicken dishes) and there WAS A HAIR in our Empanada sauce. We received no apology for this when it was sent back. After consuming our food and drinks, we asked the staff if there were any opportunities for a potential birthday desert for my grandmother. They said no, which was fine, but that probably would have been a good time to suggest a simple desert to the table as we each would have purchased one (meaning more $$$ for the establishment and bigger opportunity for tips). To make the experience even more of a bust was the fact that we didn't get any of the cotton candy at the end of our night. Isn't this supposed to be an expectation? I wish we could have had the full experience, just like anyone else in the establishment but maybe it was a bad night. The food and quality doesn't seem worth giving it another shot. I'll try to reach out to the manager because I really had high hopes for this p After the bills were distributed, instead of also distributing to-go boxes for the few us who had an exponential amount of left overs, our server took an almost 75% full portion of broccolini and threw it out. She never asked if we needed boxes for our meals and didn't apologize or try to make up for the inconvenience. read more

I was intimidated by this menu at first. I'm a meat and potatoes girl.....but....I was blown away!! I ordered my food to-go at the bar and Carson the head bartender was outstanding. So knowledgeable and friendly. I got the caesar salad. There is some kind of finely grated magic cheese like amazingness that was outstanding on the salad. The dressing is not traditional, but drinkable it's so good. I got the burger and fries...omg the fries y'all...I got ketchup...didn't need it. They were perfect. The burger was so good. I didn't like the tomato, but I don't like tomatoes. The bun was soft, not soggy, the patty wasn't dry, but not overly juicy. Cooked to perfection and didn't need any other condiments. Great flavor! Many thanks to the chef and the bar staff for the recommendations!!! read more

Great menu and great cocktails. The food are delicious. I love the Paella , amazing. The restaurant is located inside the 21c Hotel. We toured around the place. It's new, clean and spacious. Our waitress Madi is amazing. She explained everything in the menu and touch our table from time to time making sure we are having a great time with our meal. The Host is not friendly. She did not smile and greet us Smile is MUST! read more

Food was good but not memorable. Good service and a beautiful and cool space. Good drinks! The bar will have me coming back! It is beautiful! Make sure to explore the hotel and go up on the second floor to see the art. Very cosmopolitan vibe. Definitely worth a visit to either the bar or the restaurant or both. read more

IDOL WOLF - Tapas/Small Plates Near Me - Saint Louis, Missouri

Party of 6 on a Monday evening, we were the first table seated upon arrival but the restaurant filed up quickly. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, he did seem very busy, they may have some staffing shortages, like most the world. We had warm olives, Serrano ham, potato brava, meatballs, croquettes, empandadas, hen of woods chorizo, Blanco supo, brocolinni and grilled octopus. A fair sampling of the menu. We enjoyed everything we tried, although pasta, and especially soup, do not lend well to sharing, so seemed odd offered as a tapa. My personal favorite were the empanadas, meatballs, ham and broccolini. Had both sangria, sage and blackberry cocktail, all fine, nothing special about any of the three, completed the meal with churros and the turron de chocolate. Both tasty, classic churros, the Turron was my favorite although skipped the rice puff that was pretty but not tasty. After dinner drinks of Le ojo rojo, la reina much more unique than the predinner cocktails. Also ordered the vintage pineapple cordial but it was never brought to the table. Overall we enjoyed our experience, the ambiance is beautiful and very unique with fun art. Food was good, and the presentation of tapas came in spurts with large pauses in between plates. Wait staff while friendly, appeared stretched thin and a bit frazzled. There are a couple equally enjoyable tapa options in the Lou but none with the ambiance of Ido Wolf. Would go back in future. read more

Wow...the food was really incredible. Even simple dishes like pan con tomate are done impeccably. The hen of the woods was a standout, though. Cocktails were also excellent (that chorizo mezcal margarita!!) The restaurant is beautiful and set inside a remarkably stunning hotel with lots to look at (2nd floor art gallery!) Penguins are a cute addition and one sat with us to celebrate a birthday. Exceptional meal! read more

Very cool lounge in the hotel. Great food and fun drinks!! We had the fried olives, tomato toast with machego and red pepper soup!

Everything was perfect from being greeted, service, the amazing meal at the atmosphere. Wonderful experience and will be back!

We live close by and brought friends for dinner. The ambiance is so nice. We ordered a cocktail to start and were so happy we did. Really creative and delicious. On to a variety of tapas and a lovely red wine. Food was delicious and I love they have Union Loafer's bread. A hometown fave. We always like to show off the artwork to friends. It's just amazing! An all around experience! So happy to have you in The neighborhood! Highly recommend Idol Wolf!! read more

Would you think I'm crazy if I said that Idol Wolf has the BEST French Toast in all of St. Louis?! Well....think what you may--but it DOES! And the entire brunch menu here is terrific. Other folks at my table had Eggs Benedict and said it was excellent too. The service is great...the ambiance is nice...and after finishing brunch we spent at least 30 minutes upstairs at an incredible art gallery. Seriously interesting/eclectic art. All of this experience is located in the 21c Museum Hotel at 1528 Locust--the incredibly redesigned, reinvented YMCA. Valet parking a well as easy parking on the street. Make a reservation because as more people learn about this brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.... read more

Had dinner here with my wife and we really enjoyed it. Easy parking, super pleasant atmosphere, and interesting menu with good food. We really liked the potatas bravas and the shrimp. I had been wanting to try Idol Wolf for a while since it's been getting a lot of hype, so we went for our anniversary. The best I can say for our experience was the overall atmosphere of the place. Nice decor, dim lighting.. our server was another story. She wasn't rude but she was rarely around. We both have been servers before so we are generally very understanding and don't complain about service. But our server took a very long time to come back to our table each time. Like between ordering drinks and food, giving our check, running the check.. we were there for 3 hours. We aren't ever in a rush really so it wasn't like we needed to get out of there, but it was to a point that we were just sitting there, done with our food and drinks and just waiting for the check and what not... On to the food- it was fine.. we had the Pan con Tomate with Monchego , Seafood Paella, cheese board, and grilled octopus. The octopus was probably the best flavor we had.. the the Pan con Tomate was ok but kind of boring. And the seafood paella, while not bad, was a underwhelming. I don't generally care about cost with this kind of meal, but for the price and size of the paella, there was hardly any seafood on it which was disappointing.. read more

Fabulous dinner last night. Even their burger is phenomenal. Fast service. Cool vibe. Loved the salad, broccolini etc.

The Serrano ham tasted more like a store bought prosciutto. Service was sub par and the cocktails I'm certain were mikes hard lemonade or similar products. Avoid this place!!! read more

Just love this restaurant! The vibe, the service, and the food was 5 stars. Best restaurant I've been to post Covid. Worth the spend! There were four of us so we ordered the empanadas, broccolini (my fav), hen of the woods, and papas bravas. All were delicious! We ordered the Fabada and the paella. All came out better than the last. We ordered the churros for dessert. We were stuffed!! Also, the sangria is the best I've had since Spain. Highly recommend this place! We'll be back. read more

10 outta 10. Food, ambiance, service, presentation, uniqueness, and alcohol content 10 stars. That mushroom is perfection.

The service was terrible! should've known when i had to leave my name and phone with hostess because she couldn't figure out how to make a reservation for a party of 10. she said her manger would call me or email me. i waited to the following day sent an email and called again. I was told at that time they just booked the room for a party of that size....seriously? on top of that when I did actually have a meal there before Christmas the food was just mediocre at best! I wouldn't have chosen that place again but it was for a birthday dinner and the birthday girl had never been! Dont waste your time or money! read more
