Holy crap this bar is amazing. We had an hour (or so) to kill before catching a train back to Little Rock, so we figured, what the hell? Let's grab a drink! We had so much fun here, we actually considered delaying our return trip. I mean, no really, but we *did* almost miss our train because we were having too much fun ;) Word around town is that the best night is Friday, but we came in Sunday afternoon and had the place to ourselves, which was pretty awesome, and a big part of the experience. There was a group of ten of us all rowdy and excited, and the bartender (who was very open that he'd had a super rough Saturday night himself) was such wonderful company. They had a small selection of brews, from cheaper to fancy, imported to local, and they have impressive cocktails (obviously). My personal favorite was the house Hot Toddy, but the Blood and Sand is also top-notch! The Kentucky Mule is a personal take on the Moscow Mule, while the Sazerac is an instant classic, and the Stockton Pride is a delicious, smooth, flavorful surprise. One house "Special" that apparently a lot of regulars order (why?!) is something called a Ferrari shot, which is Campari and Frenet in a shot. It's worth trying once just for the experience, but definitely not my bag :P

+ AWESOME prices. Pours start at $5. Very affordable bar + Diverse selection of whiskey, scotch, bourbon, etc. + Sample before you choose a full pour + Full bar (other than whiskey) + Schlafly & other beers for non-whiskey drinkers The Whiskey Ring opened on Cherokee street just last month in December 2013. It's a few doors down from the Fortune Teller Bar and across the street from open-late waffler, Melt. The ambience is dark without many frills, but thoughtfully decorated. Tufted dark green/blue leather-esque booth seating, ample bar space, and plenty of room to stand around to mingle. It's a small and intimate bar, with 2-3 bartenders on staff at a time. We were taken care of by Miles and (Jason?) on the Friday night we came. You can get tastes of everything in shot glasses before you commit to a full pour, which starts at just $5. Their whiskey selection is displayed on paper menus 3 or 4 pages long and there is a short whiskey-based cocktail list. Think Old Fashioned, Sazerac, Manhattan, Kentucky Mule, etc. My bf complained of the Old Fashioned containing too much ice, but otherwise was a solid choice. I liked the Kentucky Mule, made with ginger beer and bourbon. This is a super affordable bar that doesn't skimp on quality or quantity - the bartenders take really good care of you, are knowledgeable about their whiskeys, and creative to boot. My girlfriend ordered a White Russian and since they didn't have milk, they made her a "Cafe Au Lait Russian" with Bailey's. I purchased 7 drinks (a mix of cocktails, beers, and whiskey pours) on my tab and my total came out to be only $46. I don't remember the last time I bought that many drinks and spent less than $50. Also eco-friendly here - they use the Square to swipe credit cards through their iPad. Makes tipping a cinch too. Receipts are emailed to you and not printed. Adding this bar to my repertoire of affordable, non-Library Annex drinking holes to frequent.

This is a perfect Dive Bar! Cheep brews, "Think Stag" Friendly folks! Lots of regulars Seats outside and in. Good Music playing. Place seems to fill up the later the night goes on! Good Layout out! Cherokee street this is the bar I would call home if I lived here!

Great drink menu and skilled bartenders. I enjoyed the Blood & Sand followed by a Kentucky Mule. My guy enjoyed his Sazerac and friends tasted a variety of their whiskeys. Music is old school country so it's a bit on the hokey side but it was fun.

    A+ on the copper mugs!

To be honest I'm not a whiskey/dark alcohol kinda girl but I met a friend here for drinks and was pleasantly surprised! It was casual and home-y with plenty of street parking. The bartender was sweet and we joked a bit about the silliness of having to carry around a paper license while you're waiting for a new one to be mailed to you. I had a Mule which was a whiskey based play on my beloved vodka Moscow Mules. What a great local ginger ale too--spicy! I also tried a blood and sand which was delicious as well. I for sure recommend this place for affordable, casual drinks.

I particularly like how the menu has illustrations of the cocktails so you know how they are served. Plus everything is seasonal! For food, I give it a 4/5. I'm disappointed that it took me so long to make my way here. They won me over with the tiny dedicated parking lot. At my big age, difficult parking situations are a turn off and I will go home if I can't get reasonable parking. I was able to snag a space in the lot and headed in. The space is a bit dark with rich sage, brass, and terracotta. There are several hanging plants making it an inviting place. The bar has plenty of comfortable seating and cozy tables if you decide to bring some friends. Caleb was our server during our visit. He was an absolute delight. He made excellent cocktail suggestions. He looked after our group without being overly doting. Just a gem of a human. We tried approximately 9 cocktails during our visit. Did I mention we were at brunch! I highly recommend the peach bite and the Side Car. Every cocktail is thoughtfully made and well executed. They offer a small brunch menu along with the regular menu. I usually always get chilaquiles when they are available. But today the ruby trout and grits sounded perfect. This dish was amazing!! The trout was thin with crispy skin. The grits were creamy and delicious. The dish is topped with a house made radish pico and salsa macha. We also ordered a breakfast sandwich that was paired with the crispiest breakfast potatoes I've ever had. The burger and fries are also a good option. The seasoning on the fries is next level. The brunch menu has a sticky toffee roll that is a perfect size for sharing or not. Salty sweet fork tender cinnamon roll. Lastly, the deviled eggs were a group favorite. I am a big fan of Passenger Chili Crisp. If you are unfamiliar please look them up! It's hands down the best chili crisp I've ever had. It's locally made here in STL and can also be found in several dishes at restaurants around town. The eggs were creamy with the right amount of tang from the mustard. The chili crisp made these deviled eggs easily top five best I've ever had! Planning to stop in again soon for happy hour with more friends

Moody lighting, cozy corners, and an effortlessly cool vibe make it the kind of spot where time slows down in the best way. We stopped in for their Sunday late night happy hour (8-11pm) and honestly? Elite move. The energy was relaxed but still buzzy, perfect for winding down the weekend without feeling like the night is over. The cocktails are art. Every drink feels intentional, balanced, and a little unexpected in the best way. You can tell the bartenders really know their craft. Whether you go classic or adventurous, you're in very good hands -- especially during happy hour when trying a couple different options feels very justified. What really seals the deal is the overall mood. It's date-night perfect, ideal for catching up with friends, or impressing out-of-towners who think they've "seen all of St. Louis." The service was friendly but a bit uneven, considering how empty it was when we first arrived. There were some long waits for drinks, and a couple of mix-ups. I believe the main source of confusion was that one big check had been started, but with people coming and going at different times, it had to be split into separate checks on the back side so people could pay before leaving.
