This is a small and very charming bar on Magnolia. I guess some would call this a dive bar. I think it's a gem. It's a bar that I'm sure neighbors frequent. The decor is great and I wished I had taken more pictures but they were busy. Drinks are not expensive at all. Lots of classic cocktails, good selection of beer. Want something to eat? Upfront: cash only!! Really good, chill vibes. It's definitely a bar for just hanging out. There wasn't loud music or screens going, and my group was able to just sit and talk uninterrupted. The other people in the bar (couldn't tell if they were regulars or random drop ins) were also friendly. If you wanted to stick to yourself, that was fine, but it also seemed like it could be a place to have bar talk with strangers. 2-27-25 Ok, Let me first say that the Actual owner of this bar seems like a Cool Guy meet him a couple of times. I hate leaving bad Reviews especially small business. I got a house in the area little over a year ago. My house is fairly close to this establishment. So thought it would be cool to check out about 6 months ago. My first experience here wasn't the greatest. I am a Business professional. And my Mother was a bartender for 10 plus years so I know it's a stressful job. This is a cash only bar which it's fine. But put a sign on the front door. I ordered a drink and was informed it was cash only yes they have a ATM inside the bar. I informed the bartender lady I didn't have any cash but I could just run to my house and get cash no big deal. She grabs my drink very rude and dumps it out. This very nice lady saw what she had did. And said I will buy you a drink. Very nice of her. I almost didn't come back to this place after that. I did tell the owner about the experience. So I been to this place 5 times total and never saw the bartender again that dumped my drink out. The other female bartenders all have been very nice. Well the last 2 times I have been here. They hired a new male bartender. Not really sure what his problem is with me. I have tip him every time I got a drink. So the other night me and this person sitting next to me was talking about stuff and how we lived close to one another and we said joking we probably pass by one another houses. The male bartender comes over and decides he going to join the conversation. And I said joking to him I probably walk by your house when I walk my dog. You could tell I was clearly joking the person next to me was laughing. All of a sudden the male bartender said that isnt funny. And I said sorry was just joking. He very rudely told me I was cut off and kept mouthing at me. I again said sorry. I wasn't drunk I only had 3 drinks and it was only around 7:30 at night. Then all of sudden he said i was banned and i couldn't come back. And I said what did I do. His response was causing a disturbance. I said in a normal talking matter I'm causing a disturbance seriously?! I don't really care i got banned I'm not a big bar person. So next time you go here. Found this "local" place by attending a special Yelp event; shout out to new STL CM, Meg, for hosting a fun event here! This is a friendly establishment with current owners of ~4 yrs. It's super casual and a relaxing spot to unwind on an afternoon or evening with friends. They have a full bar selection and wide assortment of brews, both on tap and in the fridge. Also want to mention a bonus with having Steve's Hot Dog's adjacent and connected to Tick Tock. Got to sample a few of Steve's specialties, including a chili cheese dog, Chicago dog, veggie dog and the burger and bacon dog - every bite was worth it! And all were washed down with cold local beers from 4 Hands and Schlafly served by friendly Tick Tock bartenders. This kitschy little hole in the wall was a nice stop after dinner, when we didn't feel like going to bed yet. The bartender was competent but not necessarily outgoing -it was hard to get a conversation going. There's a big picnic table section outdoors but since it was so muggy, we sat at the bar next to a big rowdy table of bicycle enthusiasts. It's definitely a no-frills kind of place with a lot of old signs and clocks. Nobody treated us like outsiders, which is a plus in a little neighborhood bar. read more

My new favorite thing to do in town is to frequent local dive bars. When I arrived, all of the patio seats were filled with only one patron and the bartender at the bar. We had a Manhattan, Vodka and tonic, and a beer on the patio. The drinks were decently poured and the patio was relaxing to hang out and relax on a Tuesday evening. One of my most favorite places to go in STL. It is cash only so I have to always remember to bring cash, but if I forget they have an ATM there. In the summer and Fall you can sit outside. Divin' it up at Tick Tock Tavern is one of my favorite things to do. It is the chillest place on the planet and super close to my house. My favorite time to come? Around 9pm on a weeknight. Whether you're grabbing a drink by yourself or meeting with some buddies, it's easy on the wallet and a great atmosphere. Speaking of wallets, bring cash, they do not accept credit cards. I also don't mind coming for their happy hours: Monday all day and then every other day they are open until 7pm. I wish I lived in St. Louis just so I could frequent Tick Tock all the time. In a 3 day trip here recently, my husband and I made it here twice. Let that be a testament for what a fun plae this is. Tick Tock definitely has a divey vibe, but the staff is laid back and down to earth and the ambiance makes you feel like you are right at home. My personal favorite touches are the big bulb Christmas lights and the Ms Pac-Man machine. They also have local craft beers on tap, which i can always get behind. Decent outdoor seating area as well. So due to a strange mix of circumstances, we ended up in St. Louis on Easter evening. We only had one night to explore, and almost everything was shuttered for the Easter holiday. After a thorough yelp search we found that this place might be open. There was a nice gathering of people possibly needing to relax after a family gathering. The beer was good, and it kind of turned into a book club meeting or something. Everyone was friendly and talking with everyone. I fell in love with the neighborhood around there, too. You can feel the history of the ancient dwellings surrounding it (ok, they're not exactly ancient, but maybe 100 years old) (that's my working hypothesis anyway). And by that I mean it just opened and old school because it has all the charm and ambiance of a place that was last remodeled in 1965 plus about 10 years of wear and tear. With the exception of the bars only real modern conceit, an ATM machine, it really is like stepping back in time. They have a nice beer selection (ok so that's another modern conceit) and they mix delicious cocktails. There's a patio out front (closes before the bar does --to keep the noise down for the neighbors) and plenty of tables to sit and drink or eat hot dogs from Steve's Hot Dogs which is attached. Walking into tick tock tavern flooded my mind with memories of my grandmas basement. The decor is straight out of 1975. Their cash-only policy reinforces the "other-era" feel of the bar.
