This place is a mess, the owner of the bar is not respectful to his guests. He called my friend vulgar names and when we asked for a apology, he claimed to not know what we were talking about. Wow...talk about dive bar. This place must be holding enough smoke in it's walls to make the buildings of Phillip Morris proud. It's open late (3 am) and opens early (around 6 or 7 am I believe). I've only been to the Trophy Room on Sunday and Monday, so keep that in mind for this review. This bar is a laid back dive bar with eclectic clientele. You'll see the young softball team unwinding after their game, the 70 year old pool shark, and the off duty police officer all at the bar on a Sunday night. The bartenders are friendly and seem to know almost everyone that comes in the door. The Trophy Room is practically always open too. From 6am until 3am, seven days a week, they're serving up cold drinks. Rail liquor is priced average at $3.25 a glass. Cash only so make sure you bring enough! Previously I had only been to this bar at 2AM, when the crown is all drunk (like me), but I've had the pleasure lately to stop in for some day drinking and found a totally different, yet awesome crowd. From the owner's grandson to fabulous bartenders Rachel and Becky and the never ending brigade of fun, interesting regulars, you can't go wrong! The bartender was very friendly and we enjoyed talking about the area with her since my daughter just moved there and is still checking out all the local spots. Open at 6am and close at 3am. Yes, some may consider the Trophy Room to be a dive bar based on the level of smoke and alcohol consumption and some of the clientele. I see the Trophy Room as a typical South City neighborhood bar. It's located in a historic building at the corner of Brannon and Arsenal. The interior has fairly new features, alot of exposed brick and it is decorated like a simple sports bar with pool table, dart boards, a juke box, and a pretty nice beer garden. They have a 3AM license and the late night crowd is a mix of police officers, firefighters, and all-aged southsiders who flock in after their own South-side neighborhood bar closes. They don't serve food and only take cash, but there is an ATM machine in the building. This place can be a good time. So, if you can handle a little smoke, dont rule it out. read more

Like Sandrina's across the street, this place is hoosier-chic. It used to be a dingy dive bar, but now it's a decent place to go if you want a cheap late night out. They've cleaned up their act... A little. Well, there's fewer and fewer cans of Busch in sight. I really like the outdoor patio, but sometimes it gets a bit busy, and seating availability might be an issue, especially with larger groups. The service here is fine, I guess. They seem a bit overworked. I've contemplated the difficulty of opening up a beer at the bar, which seemed like an issue when I visited. This place is a go to for a lot of people that I work with, unfortunately I wish the go to place had better food. Drinks are priced well so you can def get your booze on. But, make sure you bring cash, they only accept cash. They do have an ATM inside if you forget your dollar bills. They serve pizza, which is like the frozen pizzas you buy from the store, if you are starving I guess they are a good option, or you could opt for a bag of chips. Other then that the choices of food are few and far between, almost non existent to be frank. If you are looking for a place to sip cocktails and indulge in quality food, this is not the place for you. A-OK. There is a jukebox, and the track selection seemed to be mostly top40 / country. The establishment is cash only, but they do have an ATM if you forgot to bring cash. They have a pool table, darts, games, etc. Bartenders are friendly and helpful. Drink prices are competitive. A classic dive. Since they have gone non-smoking, the establishment takes some time for all the remnants of years of smoking to fully clear, but I was not really bothered by the smell of smoke that the place was known for prior to going non-smoking. I think this is a good move for the business personally. If in the area again, there's a decent chance I will return and update the review with any relevant experiences. read more

I was looking for a dive bar that had a pool table and based on reviews, we decided to check this place out. I love the rustic welcoming look as you walk in. It is extremely clean, even in the bathrooms. Love the hard wood floors and brick walls. The bar tenders were so sweet and welcomed us as though we were regulars. It was a beautiful day and we sat out side on their patio. Then the owner came out and told us they made a bunch of sub sandwiches if we were hungry, to help ourselves. On a plain ol' Friday night a couple weeks ago my friend Kari had a brilliant idea to do a pub crawl to all the little dive places we drive by every day, but never go in. Trophy Room was stop #3. After our group entered I had to stop.... is there something on my face? Toilet paper on my shoe? Do we smell? Just shy of a record scratching, everyone seemed to stop and glare at us. We were in the wrong place, this was the cool kids lunch spot and not just any dive bar. Thank goodness I know all the snaps and dance moves from West Side Story in case we need to rumble. We went out to the very nice, and empty, patio. We enjoyed our bucket of well priced beers and were on our way. I don't see myself returning anytime soon though. This is a Dive Bar with a capital DB. I say that as someone who appreciates a good dive bar for what they have to offer - cheap drinks, colorful patrons, and cheap drinks. $3.25 Sam Adams drafts? Yes please. Also their bartender lineup is one of the best in the city and can drink you under the table, fool. Put all that into a 3 o'clock bar where smoking is allowed, across the street from another 3 o'clock bar where it isn't (Sandrina's) and you have the perfect late night, south side destination. Whatever glory days this "neighborhood dive bar" may have had in years past are long gone. The bar staff isn't merely rude, it's hostile. As a female customer, I didn't feel safe there. Both the bartender and the man behind the bar (manager? bouncer?) gave me the creeps. If you're a woman, my advice is don't go there and if you do, bring a personal body guard to protect you from the staff. read more

They everyday guys and nurses along with our beloved ladies who put up with all the shit come in first and will be the first to say hi and ask how your day/night was. Marion the weds and Thursday bartender is a real sweet heart and is a attentive women who cares about her patrons. Becky and Tuyen are simply the nicest people I know Charmaine and Scott are true believers in doing what ever it takes to make your experience a fun time I will and will always attend my favorite bar.
