Loved our meal here! The service was great and easygoing. It's a bar atmosphere, with lots of drink choices. Can't go wrong with ANY food. It's hot and seasoned up perfect. Plus the vibe is so great with the old records being menus and the big screen playing movies. Can't recommend enough!

Came back again since Halloween, the service was much more prompt, the burger was delicious again and the ambiance is very divey.

We stopped by here for a Halloween pop-up, which seem to be fewer and further between this year. This is a very cool spot with an even better patio! If it hadn't been so cold out, we would have sat out there. It was decorated really well for Halloween. It was crowded and we had a wait the night before Halloween, so we sat at the bar for a while. One bartender was amazing and the other was kind of crabby, but it was fine over all. The food was good as well. I had the pretzel sticks, my fiance had the Philly Mac, and my parents shared the Albuquerque Turkey sandwich. It was all very good! The cocktails were cute, but nothing special. I would come back again even when it wasn't Halloween.

I've been here twice-- once casually and the other to see the Nightmare on Elm Street popup bar! My first time coming, I came here simply to eat and it was splendid. The food is hot, fresh, and full of flavor. During the pop-up event, the staff was so lovely and helpful for any menu questions. Food and drinks came out fairly quickly. Drinks are strong, you get what you pay for! It was quite busy when I went during the popup bar, but my first time coming was during a weeknight and it was mostly empty. I would definitely come here again. There is a ton of street parking, as long as the area isn't too busy. Eat Crow fits right into Soulard and is such a lovely place for drinks and good food!

10/10!! Our first time here was for the nightmare on 12th street Halloween pop-up and we will definitely be back!! The food is AMAZING! I had a turkey sandwich off of the regular menu and my husband had Mac n cheese from the pop-up menu. Both amazing!! We had an appetizer and drinks from the Halloween menu. The presentation was so cool!! I can't believe it took us so long to eat here! Great vibe! Wonderful staff! Delicious food!! Run don't walk to Eat Crow!!

The first time I came here, I wasn't impressed. It was a regular Thursday, and I ordered an appetizer and a few cocktails off the menu. The second time, though, I was genuinely blown away. The service was excellent, and our waiter gave great recommendations. The cheese dip was so delicious, and the Philly sandwich was amazing--though I wouldn't suggest it if you don't like cream cheese. The Halloween-themed drinks were fun, and the decorations were over the top. I'll probably be back, especially to check out specific events.

YUMMMMMM Get their Mac and cheese, the Hot Honey Mac was the best one! We also ordered the original to try it out and I've been dreaming it of since I've been!

I visited Eat Crow for the first time during their Halloween Pop-Up and thought it was fun, casual bar scene. The menu item names were very creative, but I was a little underwhelmed with the Halloween decorations and expected a bit more for a seasonal pop-up experience. The Prepare to Chai drink was delicious but I would have loved if they had offered it as a hot drink! I also ordered the Cheddar Goblin Mac and Cheese but was confused why it was served in a plastic salad bowl because it got cold almost immediately. Service was friendly but fairly slower than I'd expect for a weeknight, so not sure if that is usual or busier due to the pop-up. Other than the temperature issues, the food and drink was still good, but not sure I'd go out of my way to eat here again.

Came here on a Friday afternoon. We arrived at 11am because I thought they might get busy. It was too chilly for the patio so we went inside. Tyler immediately greeted us. I decided to get a cocktail and my friend got a mocktail. I had read the reviews and apparently the frisco melt and mac and cheese are amazing. So, I got the frisco melt and my friend got the hot honey mac and cheese. She said that the mac and cheese was really good. My frisco melt was very good. Tyler was extremely attentive even after the restaurant started to fill up. We got to-go containers because there was a lot of food. I will definitely be back.

This place gives you a lot of food for the price. I got the patty melt with fries and the fries were definitely enough for two! The patty melt was also huge! Good bar food with fast service. They have TouchTunes and played good music. Also had a big screen which I assume they play football/sports games on.

Green Chile Burger (with a veggie patty) and waffle fries
    John S.

For my first Eat Crow meal, I ordered the Green Chile Burger with a veggie patty. They were out of beef patties, which was surprising considering burgers are one of their specialties. The burger was sufficiently spicy thanks to the roasted green chiles and horseradish sauce. The Gouda jalapeño cheese sauce added another spicy note to the sandwich, but most of it had pooled under the burger, which made for a very messy burger which required handfuls of napkins. The veggie patty was ok, but had a strange aftertaste flavor. I think a black bean patty would have worked better. The side of waffle fries were okay -- some were a little undercooked but overall they made for a good accompaniment to the burger. I liked the atmosphere inside and the service was great. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to outweigh the average food.

Everyday is Halloween at Eat Crow. Cool they always show a cult classic movie. Cocktails are great and Philly Mac is delicious.

Despite that, the other tables seemed to receive constant attention while our waitress disappeared for long stretches of time. We were initially seated in the side room with a large industrial fan blowing so hard that it was moving the menus off the table. We waited for the waitress to return so we could request a different table, but she never came back, so we moved ourselves to another empty table away from the fan. She seemed unhappy about the move and told us we might have to relocate again because they were expecting a busy day. Honestly, the restaurant was empty, and we would have been finished long before any rush started -- which we were. I asked for ketchup with my burger, and it didn't arrive until after I had already finished eating. Overall, the service was very poor. Unfortunately, the food was also extremely salty -- and we're people who normally enjoy salt. I had the Farmhouse Burger with Brussels sprouts and mac and cheese, while my wife ordered the steak and fries cooked medium well. The steak came out medium rare, and both her fries and my burger and Brussels sprouts were overly salted. The one bright spot was the mac and cheese, which we took to go. My daughter tried some and said it was the best she'd ever had. To top it off, our bill came to an even $100 with tip, and all we had were waters and the items mentioned above. We had been wanting to try Retreat for quite a while, so this experience was very disappointing. Between the poor service and underwhelming food, we probably won't be coming back.

It was slightly too chilly to sit outside for dinner, though. Once we were seated our server was a little cold - but we never waited for anything and she kept our drinks full so it's hard to criticize too much - she just could've had better "table side manner". The food menu is relatively small - but good. The food my party had was well prepared. Good drink and beer menu and an adequate draft selection - although the first two beers I asked for were no longer in stock so I ended up going with a domestic. All in all a good experience. 4 out of 5. I'd love to go back when it is slightly warmer and sit outside. Casual ambiance. Family friendly.

The only real warmth we encountered came from the female host; the rest of the staff delivered service that hovered somewhere between disinterested and "we're doing you a favor by being here." We kicked things off with the fried deviled eggs, which arrived neither fried nor particularly deviled -- just cold little reminders that hope is fleeting. Cocktails landed squarely in "General Public" territory. My Squatty Potty showed up lukewarm, like it had been loitering at the bar contemplating its life choices instead of making it to the table piping hot. A chicken Caesar salad was perfectly fine... if you enjoy playing hide-and-seek with the chicken. The breakfast burger came on an English muffin with what might be the most emotionally unavailable portion of hash brown casserole I've ever seen -- tiny, distant, and gone too soon. Then there's the Scream Burger. Marketed as ghost-pepper spicy, priced like it's the main event, and delivered with all the heat of a polite Midwestern handshake. Dry, bland, and somehow bold enough to charge me an extra dollar for more mayo -- because nothing says "premium burger experience" like a condiment upcharge to make it edible. My husband's Pork Pountine? Imagine fries sprinkled with a few bacon bits like confetti at a party nobody wanted to attend. We came in excited because Eat Crow in Soulard sets the bar high. Unfortunately, Crows Nest feels like it's cooking for someone driving in from Chesterfield who asked the kitchen to "tone it down." If you're craving the real deal, do yourself a favor: go to Soulard. This nest still needs a lot more feathers. And to the influencers calling this place "amazing" -- do better. I met here with members of a local running group for one of their periodic pub runs. It was extremely cold when I got there, despite having been nearly 90 degrees out the day before. Several members of our group stood in the doorway, preventing other patrons from entering and exiting. Modern's staff deserves credit for not complaining or forcing them to leave. They may have sensed that this wasn't the local unhoused population. Only employed people run recreationally, despite having relatively little free time. I see this place all the time, from my car on the adjacent highway, on my way back to civilization, but I'd never had the occasion to stop by. Perhaps I'd be a regular if I attended the nearby community college. But if I could afford to eat here, why would I be attending community college? The beer will set you back. I would have been fine with a 32 oz can of Miller High Life, but when in Rome. There's an extensive selection of beers on tap, and probably even more in cans and bottles. I'm no connoisseur, and I don't have that kind of time, so I went with something called Silent Gs, or something to that effect. I justified it, in part, by telling myself that its name is a reference to the Lil Wayne bar adored by people who started listening to rap music in 2003. I paid $7.50-ish for a not particularly large serving, but damn it if it wasn't pretty good. I appreciate it anytime one of these higher gravity pale ales doesn't taste like it was sourced from a trough-style urinal at a circa '83 ballpark. A couple of girls from the aforementioned run group mentioned that this place carries a brussels spouts salad. I don't eat salad, because I'm a guy, but these girls are certified baddies, and I succumbed to the peer pressure. I attempted to mitigate the impact on my reputation by also ordering a slice of pepperoni pizza. I'm gonna have to have a difficult meeting with my accountant, as a result, but it was worth it. The entree serving of the salad would have been enough food, even without the pizza. It's enough vegetables that it's actually kinda obnoxious, like they're trolling you. Who do they think I am, a damn cow? Part of that may have been the brussels sprouts. They help give the salad a surprising heft, for something that doesn't have any meat in it, and help make up for the lack of bacon, which I generally require with brussels sprouts. The candied walnuts, which I thought might be croutons, were another delightful surprise and complemented the tang of the pickled red onions. The pizza came topped with an oddly precise-looking quantity and arrangement of pepperonis, like they might have Russell Crowe from the movie A Beautiful Mind working in the kitchen. It's not like at Domino's, where they just toss them on there and they might not even be on half the pizza. I guess they have to do that when they sell it by the slice. You'd be upset if you didn't get enough of them, because they're delicious. They're the kind that curl up into little cups filled with disgustingly unhealthy and yet delicious oil. I wonder if that's also because they serve it by the slice and hence have to reheat it. That may have resulted in the end of the crust suffering from a bit of Popeyes biscuit-like dryness, but what are you going to do. Then again, that may have been a purposeful attempt to get you to purchase more expensive beer. Everything else here was so well executed, it's hard to imagine this wasn't intentional on their part.

We arrived right on time for our reservation, stood for quite a few minutes in a half-empty house before being seated, then waited a very long time between visits from our apparently over-stretched waitstaff. The first cocktail I chose wasn't available; nor was the first entree. I settled on the "red wine flight", and it arrived in three glasses. The server recited their names, but I didn't catch them. Food was middle of the road. A smoked sirloin sandwich was tasty, though rather well-done. And the order of "salmon cakes", which the menu says is made of "smoked salmon, roast corn, tomato, cucumber, creme fraiche, and capers" was in fact just one cake (not cakes!), smaller than a hockey puck (about 1/2" thick max) and seemed to be made of canned fish, not the bright orange of smoked salmon. It was accompanied by five thin slices of cucumber and three or four halved grape tomatoes. No corn, no capers. It was so boring, and an overpriced disappointment at $23. If this Bridge is actually closing and focusing on the event space, they've gone out with a whimper.
