I have a little bone to pick here because the online ordering tells you 50-60 minutes however my order was ready within 20 minutes, so by the time I committed to driving away and coming back an almost hour later, I had to double back because of the misinformation which was inconvenient. Otherwise, the sandwiches were great, we got two halves of the Mississippi sandwich and the Capri sandwich, both were excellent. I'd like to have eaten inside and hope to come back and try the atmosphere in person and maybe have a beer. Overall, I see the hype behind these sandwiches!

Stopped by Gramophone for lunch and tried the Steak Out sandwich with a half sandwich/salad combo. The sandwich was absolutely delicious and honestly the "half" sandwich was HUGE, I would have assumed it was a full-sized sandwich. We went during lunch hour and it wasn't busy at first but it gradually filled up as we ate. Great portions, decent prices, and really tasty food. I'll definitely be back!

The Portobello was my second favorite of the 3 sandwiches I've had here. The bread was great and sauce was good but there too much of it. I also got the mac and cheese, which I don't love but I was very hungry. It's satisfying. 1. The Vegetarian 2. The Portobello 3. The Mississippi Nights (vegetarian version) My boyfriend got The Beef. He enjoyed it. But ended up sick the next day with food poisoning symptoms... I was fine. It's a shame he got sick. We love the ambiance and vibes when there's live music. The sandwiches are not my favorite but I'm always willing to keep trying the different vegetarian options. We'll be back, eventually.

This place is worth all the hype. Mississippi night club has to be the best sandwich I've ever had. Hands down. So much flavor and great mix of textures. Toasted to perfection. Great late night spot to hit as well with drinks and music!

The only reason I don't have a picture of the sandwich is because it was so good and I ate it too fast. A perfect patio spot in the grove for late night eats! My go to is usually the Havana sandwich and mac and cheese. Fairly quick service!

Update: The perfect date night dinner spot for a quick dinner. The sandwiches start at $7 for a half or $14 for a full. The service was fast and friendly. My wife and I decided to split the Homemade Mac and Cheese. For dinner I had the General Patton. My wife had the Buffalo Soldier and she said it was delicious. They take all major credit cards. My rating : BEST

An iconic STL sandwich spot for a reason. I knew the name for many years before I finally visit, but it's now a go-to. A central location along Manchester in the heart of The Grove, solid craft beer selection (most recently including an NA from Athletic on tap for those committing to Dry January), fun outdoor patio during the warmer months, and wonderful interior vibe (complete with an eclectic mix of vinyls on the wall and a pool table), there's a lot to appreciate about The Gramophone. On our last visit, my wife and I stuck to the usuals - I go for the Buffalo Soldier, my wife orders the Havana, and we split the Red Hot Riplets Mac & Cheese. All delicious, filling choices, soon-to-be favorites brought to our table in what felt like no time. I feel comfortable deeming The Gramophone my favorite overall spot on The Grove - recommended for a quick bite, cold beer, hangout, or concert. As a minor note, the live music volume is on the louder side (be prepared to project if you're as soft-spoken as me), but not to an overwhelming extent. Worth a stop to anyone looking for a sandwich or drink in St. Louis.

Great vibes. Solid food, fantastic portion sizes. Staff was super friendly and attentive. We ordered the Housemade Mac & Cheese, 1/2 The Steak Out and a Whole All Up in Your Grill and was not disappointed with any of it. Drink wise we had a local brewery's canned beverage, a draft beer (Brick River Strawberry Lemonade Sour) and a specialty cocktail (Cherry Limeade) and all were solid choices as well. They had a DJ playing on a Sunday night but it wasn't so loud that you couldn't have a conversation it was perfect volume wise. The bartenders were happy to share info on more local spots to try and local beverage info. If we lived in STL I have a feeling this would be a go to local spot.

Such great sandwiches! Love this spot in The Grove. They were pretty busy for a Thursday at lunch, so plan ahead, but they moved fast! The Mac and cheese here is my favorite! Creamy and delicious and the red hot riplets add the most yummy, spicy flavor. I got the Boy Howdee which was yummy, not very spicy at all. It tasted good with the green Cholula hot sauce they had available. My friend loved her smoked salmon sandwich! The also have games off to the side which is fun for a fun evening or afternoon out!

This was my first time here and I was excited to finally get to try it. We came for lunch, so parking was pretty easy close to the restaurant. So much stuff to look at in the restaurant. When you arrive, you get in line to place your order and pay. They give you a number to place at your table-and then they bring it out to you. Nice friendly staff at the counter. I opted to get the Mississippi Nights club, half size for $8. And I desperately wanted to try their jalapeño popper soup for $4. When our order arrived at the table, we were anxious to give it a try. Both of my items were absolutely delicious. So much flavor in the soup. Not too hot, but just the right amount of kick to it. My sandwich was really good as well. They had live entertainment for lunch! How fun is that? We really enjoyed our lunch here and we will definitely be back.

Healthy portions. $$ for sandwiches, but ingredients are fresh! If you're looking for a chill hangout spot w/ friends for drinks & food, this is your go to. Order at bar or pickup, then seat yourself at hightop tables.

The Gramophone never disappoints! I've been patronizing the place for years -- the food's always delicious, the beer's always cold, and the vibe is always positive. (I had to giggle reading some of the reviews here by folks from the 'burbs or out of town who think the neighborhood "isn't safe" and the crowd is "weird"; that's diversity, folks. This ain't Subway.) There's often a solo musician adding a layer of atmosphere. Everyone's welcome in this well-established LGBTQ+ friendly community. The sandwiches are very generously sized, and a half-size is always an option. For me, the half sandwich and a shared bag of chips or a side is plenty! And the menu is extensive -- it's not just the same 15 ingredients mixed and matched; it's a roasted garlic whipped feta just for the steak sandwich, a house Alfredo sauce for the Yardbird, a Cajun buttermilk ranch for the Patton... this place leaves sub shops in the dust! There's a well-stocked bar and about 20 local craft beers on tap. Fountain sodas are from local indie Excel. There's usually a line to order, but grab a menu and use your wait time to choose your food -- there's a lot to read! There are tables for all sizes of groups, plus a great patio out back (with a firepit in cooler weather.) Plenty of parking is available on the street and in the lot next door; check signs & the ParkMobile app for rates and free times. Tip your server, tip the musician, and enjoy this neighborhood treasure!

Gramophone alwayssss delivers! I came here for a work meeting with my intern on a Tuesday afternoon and it was packed! Keep that in mind that it can get busy. We luckily found a spot after ordering at the counter. It was hard to pick what sandwich I want. Each time I visit I always like whatever I get! This time I went with The Jive, as the pepper mayo caught my eye. It (of course) was delicious and really hit the spot. They have Excel brand soda, and I like the guilt free diet cola- that was a win too! In past experiences I've enjoyed sitting on the patio on a nice day. They also offer alcohol, Mac n cheese, and soup. They sometimes have local music and it can get pretty loud, so fyi if that's not your jam!

We were celebrating my friend's birthday so they gave him a free cookie! So kind of them and such a good cookie!! Lots of big chocolate chunks. We also ordered a slice of almond polenta cake and it was fantastic. Overall, a great little spot with good service and food, so I'll have to come back to try their lunch menu!

The inside is small, maybe around 20 seats, though I think there's an outdoor area too. We got seated after about 15 to 20 minutes for a party of 3 with no reservation. The menu is simple but really well done and very vegetarian friendly. I got the butternut squash soup which was so warm and comforting, and the egg salad sandwich was my favorite. Super filling and flavorful. My friend got the smoked beet sandwich and you can really taste the smokiness and it was like a vegetarian BBQ. Another friend did the soup and sandwich combo and loved it. Our server was really sweet and forgot a couple things but honestly given how slammed they were I completely get it. The bread lives up to the hype. Definitely a must if you're in the area and want a really solid lunch.

I'm disappointed that it took me so long to make my way here. They won me over with the tiny dedicated parking lot. At my big age, difficult parking situations are a turn off and I will go home if I can't get reasonable parking. I was able to snag a space in the lot and headed in. The space is a bit dark with rich sage, brass, and terracotta. There are several hanging plants making it an inviting place. The bar has plenty of comfortable seating and cozy tables if you decide to bring some friends. Caleb was our server during our visit. He was an absolute delight. He made excellent cocktail suggestions. He looked after our group without being overly doting. Just a gem of a human. We tried approximately 9 cocktails during our visit. Did I mention we were at brunch! I highly recommend the peach bite and the Side Car. Every cocktail is thoughtfully made and well executed. They offer a small brunch menu along with the regular menu. I usually always get chilaquiles when they are available. But today the ruby trout and grits sounded perfect. This dish was amazing!! The trout was thin with crispy skin. The grits were creamy and delicious. The dish is topped with a house made radish pico and salsa macha. We also ordered a breakfast sandwich that was paired with the crispiest breakfast potatoes I've ever had. The burger and fries are also a good option. The seasoning on the fries is next level. The brunch menu has a sticky toffee roll that is a perfect size for sharing or not. Salty sweet fork tender cinnamon roll. Lastly, the deviled eggs were a group favorite. I am a big fan of Passenger Chili Crisp. If you are unfamiliar please look them up! It's hands down the best chili crisp I've ever had. It's locally made here in STL and can also be found in several dishes at restaurants around town. The eggs were creamy with the right amount of tang from the mustard. The chili crisp made these deviled eggs easily top five best I've ever had! Planning to stop in again soon for happy hour with more friends

The staff were friendly and very accommodating to adding or removing ingredients from sandwiches. I had Joes Italian Kicker with the homemade artichoke salad. The artichoke salad was so good. The dressing was sweet but not overly so. I am not a fan of sweet Italian so for me to actually like this item kind of amazed me but it truly was good. I did not get the tomato sauce on my sandwich, and it was far from what I had convinced myself it was supposed to be lol. I am not a fan of brats and sausages and such but I do like salami. I convinced myself that it was going to be sliced garlic and red wine salami and well that wasn't what I got but I do like to try different things so I wasn't disappointed. The sausage was amazing. So flavorful and enjoyable... again a surprise because as I said, I am not a fan of this type of sausage. Now the giardeneria, it is delicious but it says hot for a reason. It was a little too hot for me but once I removed a bit I could grab little bites with my sandwich and it was less of a mouth burning experience. The cheese and cheese garlic bread the sandwich comes with is absolutely a flavor bonus. overall this was a great meal and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Now my dining partner got meatballs and pasta salad. While she wasn't a fan of the meatballs to the point where she raves, she did say they were good just not great! However she did very much like the pasta salad. She only wished there had been less black olives. Lastly, we did ask for to go boxes for our salad Because the portion was extremely generous and we couldn't eat all of either... we started to get up to go get the containers and a staff member saw us rising and took care of getting the containers for us which was very sweet. I would like to say that a lidded bowl would be better for salads because all the dressing leaked out of the styrofoam box but that was really the only disappointment.
