Great vibes. Solid food, fantastic portion sizes. Staff was super friendly and attentive. We ordered the Housemade Mac & Cheese, 1/2 The Steak Out and a Whole All Up in Your Grill and was not disappointed with any of it. Drink wise we had a local brewery's canned beverage, a draft beer (Brick River Strawberry Lemonade Sour) and a specialty cocktail (Cherry Limeade) and all were solid choices as well. They had a DJ playing on a Sunday night but it wasn't so loud that you couldn't have a conversation it was perfect volume wise. The bartenders were happy to share info on more local spots to try and local beverage info. If we lived in STL I have a feeling this would be a go to local spot.

The Portobello was my second favorite of the 3 sandwiches I've had here. The bread was great and sauce was good but there too much of it. I also got the mac and cheese, which I don't love but I was very hungry. It's satisfying. 1. The Vegetarian 2. The Portobello 3. The Mississippi Nights (vegetarian version) My boyfriend got The Beef. He enjoyed it. But ended up sick the next day with food poisoning symptoms... I was fine. It's a shame he got sick. We love the ambiance and vibes when there's live music. The sandwiches are not my favorite but I'm always willing to keep trying the different vegetarian options. We'll be back, eventually.

This place is worth all the hype. Mississippi night club has to be the best sandwich I've ever had. Hands down. So much flavor and great mix of textures. Toasted to perfection. Great late night spot to hit as well with drinks and music!

The only reason I don't have a picture of the sandwich is because it was so good and I ate it too fast. A perfect patio spot in the grove for late night eats! My go to is usually the Havana sandwich and mac and cheese. Fairly quick service!

Update: The perfect date night dinner spot for a quick dinner. The sandwiches start at $7 for a half or $14 for a full. The service was fast and friendly. My wife and I decided to split the Homemade Mac and Cheese. For dinner I had the General Patton. My wife had the Buffalo Soldier and she said it was delicious. They take all major credit cards. My rating : BEST

This was my first time here and I was excited to finally get to try it. We came for lunch, so parking was pretty easy close to the restaurant. So much stuff to look at in the restaurant. When you arrive, you get in line to place your order and pay. They give you a number to place at your table-and then they bring it out to you. Nice friendly staff at the counter. I opted to get the Mississippi Nights club, half size for $8. And I desperately wanted to try their jalapeño popper soup for $4. When our order arrived at the table, we were anxious to give it a try. Both of my items were absolutely delicious. So much flavor in the soup. Not too hot, but just the right amount of kick to it. My sandwich was really good as well. They had live entertainment for lunch! How fun is that? We really enjoyed our lunch here and we will definitely be back.

Healthy portions. $$ for sandwiches, but ingredients are fresh! If you're looking for a chill hangout spot w/ friends for drinks & food, this is your go to. Order at bar or pickup, then seat yourself at hightop tables.

An iconic STL sandwich spot for a reason. I knew the name for many years before I finally visit, but it's now a go-to. A central location along Manchester in the heart of The Grove, solid craft beer selection (most recently including an NA from Athletic on tap for those committing to Dry January), fun outdoor patio during the warmer months, and wonderful interior vibe (complete with an eclectic mix of vinyls on the wall and a pool table), there's a lot to appreciate about The Gramophone. On our last visit, my wife and I stuck to the usuals - I go for the Buffalo Soldier, my wife orders the Havana, and we split the Red Hot Riplets Mac & Cheese. All delicious, filling choices, soon-to-be favorites brought to our table in what felt like no time. I feel comfortable deeming The Gramophone my favorite overall spot on The Grove - recommended for a quick bite, cold beer, hangout, or concert. As a minor note, the live music volume is on the louder side (be prepared to project if you're as soft-spoken as me), but not to an overwhelming extent. Worth a stop to anyone looking for a sandwich or drink in St. Louis.

Such great sandwiches! Love this spot in The Grove. They were pretty busy for a Thursday at lunch, so plan ahead, but they moved fast! The Mac and cheese here is my favorite! Creamy and delicious and the red hot riplets add the most yummy, spicy flavor. I got the Boy Howdee which was yummy, not very spicy at all. It tasted good with the green Cholula hot sauce they had available. My friend loved her smoked salmon sandwich! The also have games off to the side which is fun for a fun evening or afternoon out!

I have only lived in St. Louis for 3 months, and I have already been here 4 times. I've had a different sandwich each time, and it's been a hit every time. The vibe of the place feels very eclectic and welcoming. This time, I got the Enzo sandwich and I will be dreaming of it for days to come. The Mac and cheese is a fun twist with the red hot riplets on top. My go to place to bring my family that visits from out of town!

We had never been. My friend and I love sandwiches. Though we kept hearing about the deliciousness that is the gramophone we had never gone. It was her choice for the birthday outing my treat. We met on a Sunday afternoon. It was a beautiful day. We both got parking right up front. Upon entrance, we met smiling faces waiting to help. I guess we looked like deer in headlights not knowing how it worked. We looked for a table because she had little Clayton. I went back to order food. I don't remember the name of the sandwich we got. It was Italian and delicious. I also got the mac n cheese and the jalapeño popper soup. The food was good the place was eclectic we had a great time and will definitely be back. It filled up quickly. We arrived at opening and in no time the crowd arrived. Little Clayton had a time cooing at all the people who told him how cute he is.

The Gramophone never disappoints! I've been patronizing the place for years -- the food's always delicious, the beer's always cold, and the vibe is always positive. (I had to giggle reading some of the reviews here by folks from the 'burbs or out of town who think the neighborhood "isn't safe" and the crowd is "weird"; that's diversity, folks. This ain't Subway.) There's often a solo musician adding a layer of atmosphere. Everyone's welcome in this well-established LGBTQ+ friendly community. The sandwiches are very generously sized, and a half-size is always an option. For me, the half sandwich and a shared bag of chips or a side is plenty! And the menu is extensive -- it's not just the same 15 ingredients mixed and matched; it's a roasted garlic whipped feta just for the steak sandwich, a house Alfredo sauce for the Yardbird, a Cajun buttermilk ranch for the Patton... this place leaves sub shops in the dust! There's a well-stocked bar and about 20 local craft beers on tap. Fountain sodas are from local indie Excel. There's usually a line to order, but grab a menu and use your wait time to choose your food -- there's a lot to read! There are tables for all sizes of groups, plus a great patio out back (with a firepit in cooler weather.) Plenty of parking is available on the street and in the lot next door; check signs & the ParkMobile app for rates and free times. Tip your server, tip the musician, and enjoy this neighborhood treasure!

One of the coolest touches is the large display of vinyl records, it adds a ton of character and gives the whole place a unique, almost nostalgic energy.
