Broadway Oyster Bar is such a cool, unique spot. The atmosphere is awesome as is the food. It is extremely popular for good reason. We recently visited when in town for a hockey game and had a great experience. Tee sat in the patio area and enjoyed the live music. Our server was very attentive. We have always loved Broadway Oyster Bar and so today we felt like we owed ourselves a visit! We had our pup with us and so having the option to sit in the covered/enclosed and heated patio with her, made it perfect! The food is always perfection and the vibe can't be matched. I was pleasantly surprised by the New Orleans theme at this restaurant. There was a lot of cajun vibes as soon as you walk through the door. The walls are lined with artwork with nods to New Orleans. There is a bar first thing and they have Louisiana beers on draft. The menu is full of New Orleans food options. Crawfish, Oysters, Gumbo, and much more. I decided to try a Grinder which is a hallowed out bread stuffed with your filling of choice. Mine was sausage and shrimp. It was decent tasting but super messy. I also tried the Oysters and Crawfish Pasta which is a nod to the Crawfish Monica. Below is a review that I wrote for BWOB after my first visit. If you read it you will see that the place is awesome. But after this last visit I have to provide an update. The food was still awesome but the service was so bad it ruined my entire experience. And it was not because the place was too busy. It was because the waiter on the outside patio was much more interested in flirting with bar customers and looking at his phone than he was providing a modicum of service to my table. He barely showed up throughout the meal, dropped the check and never returned. We had to walk to the bar and summon him about 25 min later. The place is great but he is doing you no favors. I'd give it one star based on that experience, but due to my many visits I'm being kind and only docking it that one star. (This was my first composed review) I love this place. Everything about it is to my liking. From the shabby dive bar interior to the drafty covered deck, this place captures the Nola French quarter vibe so well that, yeah, I'm gonna say it, it out Nolas Nola! The muffuletta is so good that the next time I go to New Orleans I'm gonna have one fedexed from here to my hotel so I can eat the best Muffuletta in New Orleans, in New Orleans! But this is just scratching the surface. Let me tell you about the alligator sausage and shrimp cheesecake. What I experienced today was not a unique and creative appetizer but a love affair. I want to connect with this dish on Tinder, I want to answer its personal adds, send it inappropriate pictures on snapchat, I want to make love to it at midnight in the dunes of the cape, its the lady I've looked for, come with me and escape! I seriously was hoping a bolt of lightening would strike my dead after my final bite so this would be the last flavor I would taste for eternity. When no lightening bolt came I tried holding my breath for a minute but then got a little light headed so I stopped. Not quite the romantic I profess to be I guess. Nonetheless this savory cheesecake is so delicious that I might start a cult where we worship it as our deity. And I'll be the Pope of Cheescakology! And the waiters were good, and the french fries were good, and the beer selection was good but whatever, yada, yada. To preface this, I've lived in New Orleans so I've had the best of this food and know how it's supposed to taste when it's done right. Unfortunately this missed the mark. It's nearby the Cardinals stadium so it would be a perfectly adequate place to stop for drinks before or after the game. The area is a little sketchy but when there's a game it's fine. I went a few hours after a game so there weren't many people around and the restaurant was pretty empty. The crawfish was frozen despite it being crawfish season. The chargrilled oysters were barely cooked and basically just had oil and poured a bunch of fake Parmesan cheese crumbs on top, which were not melted or browned in the slightest. The oysters were small too and there was no seasoning other than all the powdered cheese. The shrimp boil shrimp tasted decently fresh but the portion size was very small, hard to believe a half pound was only 6 shrimp. The bbq shrimp didn't taste like Worcestershire like it should, it tasted more like shrimp thrown in some tomato based broth. Our server was friend and nice, and served us promptly. She sort of disappeared at the end when we needed the check, but overall she did a fine job. The food unfortunately was a disappointment. Popular, tasty, and will definitely return! My friend and I came here one evening for dinner. Parking is available in the lot across the street or on the street. The parking lot was basically empty, since it was late in the evening on a weekday. It's a casual place with Cajun/Creole food. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. Our server was so friendly and helpful, she was wonderful! For a beverage, I ordered the Horny Gator. It was delicious, it reminded me of being on vacation. It tasted similar to a piña colada. For an entrée, I ordered the Shrimp Voodoo Tacos. They were juicy, spicy, and filling. The side of jambalaya on the side was also a delight; it had delicious sausage & shrimp in it, a great amount of spice, and paired wonderfully with the tacos. We also shared the Cajun fries. I went to Broadway Oyster Bar in St. Louis on a Saturday night and had a really solid experience. The bartender was super friendly, and when I asked for recommendations, he pointed me toward the alligator sausage and the shrimp cheesecake which was worth trying. I also had some oysters, which were tasty and surprisingly filling. I started out at the inside bar, which was cool because they have a TV, so I could watch the football game while eating and hanging out. After the game, I moved outside to the patio bar. I have been to Broadway Oyster Bar a couple times, for girl's night with a good friend and for an after event with co-workers. I enjoy sitting outside in one of the high-top bar tables and listening to the live music. The inside eating area is OK. It's not a preference but if the weather isn't cooperating outside....welllll inside it is. The staff is friendly and hardworking. Parking is a pain, of course it's downtown STL. The catfish nuggets and crab cakes on top of a fried green tomato and served with cole slaw are delicious. The drinks are very hit-n-miss depending on who is making the drinks. The charbroiled oysters are another good dish to order. The wings are just OK, have to ask for extra, extra crispy. The Cajun shrimp pasta is ok, lacking the Cajun seasoning and flavors of the dish. Great meal with a friend. I hadn't been here in a while but it was close by and we got in quickly on a Thursday night. The server was attentive and fun to chat with, and got our orders to us quickly! Crab cakes were awesome - great taste and you get quite a bit! Oysters were fresh and amazing. And the shrimp and grits were out of this world (- real comfort food - the grits are fried into a hash brown block and then covered with some magical sauce and shrimps - a must try!!!). Nice atmosphere (in between bands so we could have a conversation). The only "meh" I'd add was that they were out of Abita and the prices seemed a little high. But worth it!! read more

I was in the city for an awards banquet and arrived early. I figured Broadway Oyster Bar would be a great place to kill time. I found Prince parking, thanks to my parking angel who hangs on my review mirror. When I arrived inside, I was able to get a seat at the end of the bar. The bartender was hustling waiting on others and told me she'd be with me in a hot minute. It was close to shift change and the next bartender had arrived, so she asked him to get my drink. Since I was in a New Orleans/Cajun themed restaurant, I ordered a Sazerac cocktail. I watched him make it and he was extremely detailed. After my first sip, I knew it was masterfully prepared. I drink this cocktail often and I can tell you, this one was probably the best I've had in STL. This was a good experience. We went around Mardi Gras, and the decorations were great and the band played good songs. Unfortunately, we were seated at a table we reserved outside behind a pole, so I couldn't see the band very well, but the ambiance was still really cool. Broadway oyster bar is such a St. Louis staple. Such a fun vibe and delicious food! It does feel quite a bit like being in New Orleans and they have live music several nights per week. The patio is really fun in the warmer weather months. I have been going there for years and always have to get a hurricane when I'm there. At this last visit, we got oyster shooters, crabcakes, crawfish bisque, and crawfish enchiladas. Everything was great besides, the bisque was incredibly thick, it was almost like pudding consistency, in nowhere resembled a soup. I would not get it again. Everything else I've had there has been great though. At other visits, I've had the voodoo tacos, fried catfish, a variety of oysters and the ahi fajitas. It took a while. The place is kind of small. It was kind of loud. I think a band was about to come on as we were leaving. Pretty good food. We had lunch at Broadway Oyster Bar today and it was fantastic! Such a great vibe overall to the restaurant, very eclectic and NOLA-feeling. I had the boiled crawfish and garlic parm fries as my main and my husband got the blue point oysters and both were fantastic! Out of a pound and a half of crawfish, I only a couple that weren't edible, and the flavor was on point. I'll start with my conclusion: I've easily eaten at a few thousand (unique) places in my lifetime. So, I'm not majorly wowed by something different or have places that blow me away. Broadway Oyster however.....provided a dish which really took my wife and I by surprise and yes...blew us away! What dish blew us away? The crabby oysters. On our visit, my wife summed up this dish best when eating. And I quote: "I don't know what this crack sauce they put on these....but you can put this stuff on a shoe and eat it...it's that darn good". Oysters done in a Rockefeller style...topped with a shredded crab, cheese and this red/orange thin sauce...that the taste is out this world good! The shrimp poor boy: a darn good rendition of a classic New Orleans poo boy. The bread they get from New Orleans...which I'd assume is the Leidenheimer Bread CO's bread. But the shrimp and coating on the shrimp - pretty top notch it is! She-crab chowder: Good...not out this world. Cole slaw version: had a vinegar Ana slightly sweet notes...which was good for cutting the heavy rich entrees we had. Stuffed shrimp w/ sauce: Not my favorite with the sauce. Still good enough to eat...but I still had my socks on and didn't knock my socks off after eating my entree. Now, I don't know if those crabby oysters are always on the menu. We dined here at a time they had a seafood festival going on. But that single item....would make a restaurant (if) it remained on the menu! Lastly, the waitress we had was fairly exceptional at her job. A taller skinnier runner lady....that was personable and attentive both. Funny....before I even knew she was our server....she walked by the table and said "Nice shirt"....which was a Cubs shirt. I said "Yeah right" and chuckled...as this restaurant sits about 500 feet away from Busch Stadium in St Louis. Turns out, she was serious and has Cubs fans in her family - good deal! lol. read more

Fabulous place. The epitome of St. Louis', New Orleans roots and flare. Eclectic almost to the tune of Venice Cafe, if it were constantly in Mardi Gras mode. This gem hosts all walks of life, and yet, a good time for any and all. The characteristic decor and good bar service are complete with a menu of Cajun, creole food that I found unexpectedly delicious, but others in my party actually come exclusively for this fare. We tried the shrimp voodoo which WAS delicious and perfectly spicy. I'm still intrigued about trying their oysters, which they do in fact sell. Next time. The infamous Steve Ewing just started up something of a residency here as well on Wednesdays, and judging by this first performance, sign me up for every week. I had a Caesar salad that was wonderful and of course we drank a lot of beers and a couple cocktails and the service is always just spot on and they always put me at this one table because I usually only go there to see my friend LAKA soul and we like to sit right in front plus I'm in a wheelchair so they put us at this table to the only one like it that has a bench on one side where my husband and a friend said, and I sit on the other side they remove a chair and that way I can get in and out of them in a wheelchair and they're always helped me get to the ladies room and everything. It's just a fabulous place. I can't wait to get back there on the 15th and that's gonna be a wonderful concert. LAKA soul is doing her Whitney Houston tribute and she is remarkable. read more

We ordered the Charred Oysters, they were so small that you could find them through all the Parmesan cheese, we ordered the fried oysters, they had been fried up till they were like Little rocks. The catfish fritters (I believe they were called) there were about 6 little pieces. All in all our lunch with small tip was $100. We are back in St. Louis after almost five years and had to come back to BOB. We were seated inside this time and we loved the vibe inside! Really cool decor to look at all around. I had the SoCo Hurricane and it was amazing. It was strong but also fruity. My husband had the Blackberry Mule and he loved it. We started with Cajun Tequila wing and they were phenomenal. They were spicy and tangy, crispy and juicy. Everyone LOVED them. I had the chicken Mona, my son the jambalaya, my daughter had the garlic cream linguini, and my husband the pulled pork sliders. I'll admit I only came here for a concert. If this was another business, I'd probably drop some stars. However, I feel the ambiance and eccentricity of this business deserves the recognition. For the most part, the few employees I interacted with were polite for a bar in St. Louis. My couple of drinks were decent, so I can't complain. I really wanted some food after seeing it come out a few times! Some of it smelled amazing! The bathroom situation is a little weird. There are two sets of bathrooms, and I would suggest using the restaurant side. The other by the concert area was cramped and out of stock for everything, even if it was a unique set-up. Looking for some dinner after attending a Cardinals game, I went to Broadway Oyster Bar for some Cajun food. This well know restaurant/bar was nearby and parking was easy to find in their free lot across the street. Inside it was slow that weeknight so getting a table was easy. I asked for a shrimp po boy with a side of their Cajun slaw for $19.75. While waiting less than 15 minutes for it to arrive, I walked around to admire all of the unique interior decor in the full bar area and large dining room with good background music playing. This place has a lot of unique character that adds to its popularity. Outside is a neat partially covered patio area with another full bar and a small stage for music acts. Looks like a great hangout place. The po boy was about 8" cut in half and served on Gambino's bread. Serving Gambino's is a big plus. It had medium size fried shrimp with lettuce and tomato with sliced pickles along with some cracked pepper mayo. It was a good tasting sandwich on excellent bread (3.5). Grabbed dinner here while in St Louis. We had reservations, which I didn't think we needed when we got there, but it got very busy while we were there. We sat on the patio and experienced some slow/weird service issues. There was a broken glass, the clean up process, then, I'm pretty sure the woman who was supposed to be our server left, so we got absorbed by another server. Once we ordered our food, things moved much quicker. I got the creole mary to drink and it was good. Our server suggested the alligator sausage cheesecake appetizer and it was incredible. I've been to Broadway Oyster Bar quite a few times, it's actually one of my favorite local spots here in St. Louis! The food is always fresh and the drinks are always on point. Please do not eat here. Food is ok. But the service is horrible. While we were eating we heard another table basically were told they don't split checks. So when they ask to be separated, the manager said basically they would have to walk back out and get seated again and "who knows if they would be seated together." The place was EMPTY! We ordered a full dozen oysters and asked if we can half of each kind. They said no problem. Nick never told us he was charging us for 2 half dozens. When I asked why it was this way he basically snapped back and said he just explained it to me. The seafood is bomb. The decor is very interesting. The staffs are really nice! Totally recommend coming here. It was one of our favorite places in STL. We got the mussels, Brussels sprouts, half bucket of crawfish, and the sampler entrée, which came with etouffle, gumbo, and jambalaya, and rice and beans. We really enjoyed the jambalaya and the etouffle from the sampler. They were super flavorful. The gumbo not so much. The bucket of crawfish was a treat. We were given an estimated 20-30 minute wait and told we'd receive a text when our table was ready. Upon entering, you can wait at the bar or in a few available seats. Since we parked right out front, we chose to wait in the car. The restaurant has plenty of seating, and I always appreciate the wall art. The food is consistently amazing! My go-to order is the burger with Cajun fries and a wing appetizer. When I say this is easily a Top 3 burger I've ever had from any restaurant, I mean it--I love it.
