Cool brewery located across the tracks in an old warehouse in the Hill that is both pet and kid friendly. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Great beer selection. IPA's are my go to, and they had 5 selections to choose from or you could build a flight starting at $14. I opted for the Art of Necrosis, which was a West Coast IPA. There are a few video games and board games. There was a nice crowd for a weekday at lunch! For food you order from a QR code to Central State Sandwiches. They have cook to order food options that are well suited for both kids and adults. Food is served hot and fresh , but it is definitely not a culinary experience that you will write home about. This is more of a place that you come to hang out for the atmosphere & beer where the food is great to have but can be seen as an afterthought.

What a great brewery!!! They had an amazing coconut stout and a delicious hazy IPA. You must do a flight! Bartender was very knowledgeable about their beer selection and super friendly. They have a large selection of board games and Ms. Pac-Man...so fun!!! Haven't played that in years. A must try!

Such a cute place! Great $3 draft deal on Wednesday nights. Service was wonderful and fast. No food, but plenty of draft options with the option to bring in your own snacks. Will absolutely come again!

Great beers! We loved their LSD (liquid spiritual delight) and the bourbon barrel aged one with coconut was the cat's pajamas! Eclectic group of tables/seating to hold any size party.

Usually when I go to the Hill, I make a mandatory stop at Gioia's for a sandwich. But this time, I needed a beer, and friends recommended 2nd Shift. It's hard to have a bad time at a brewery, but I think this one is top notch. The beer list is long with a big range of specialties. I tried several IPA's and the Pilsner, and enjoyed each one. The bartender was very patient with me as I tried them out. If you don't like beer, the grape seltzer is on tap as well. That's not my favorite flavor, but I had never had one before, so I love that you can try something unique. While the food is considered separate from the brewery, in my opinion, it enhances the experience. I'm used to most breweries only having pizza or wings. I ordered the pesto chicken sandwich, and even though I wasn't hungry, I devoured it. They do spectacular work. It rained while we visited, but there's a huge patio area outside. I can see how families would really enjoy a Saturday afternoon here. There's already plenty of great places to visit at the Hill...but make sure to add this to your list if you're in the area.

Dog friendly brewery (allowed inside) with fun seasonal flavors! There is also a food window with sandwiches and some baked goods. Loved the pickle katy beer and cute can art!

This place is exactly what I want in a brewery! We went when it was cold, so we sat inside, but I can't wait to check it out once the weather is warm and sit on the patio. We absolutely LOVED that they had a brewery cat, he was so friendly and we got to sit on the couch and pet him the whole time we were there. Good beer, selection, and they had a cider option and a hard seltzer which I loved as beer is not my first choice. The woman's bathroom was super cute and had a little station with everything you could need. Can't wait to come back with friends this summer.

Came here to work in the afternoon one day. Lots of seating inside and outside. Unfortunately, not many outlets for use so if you need to charge your laptop or other devices you are limited on tables with outlet access. WiFi worked great. I ordered a flight so I could try multiple beers. I love that they have some really unique flavors like the Pickle Katy - I love pickles so I had to try it, can't say I'll get it again so the flight pour was perfect to get a taste of it. My favorite was the Brewligans IPA. Food is available for purchase but I wasn't super hungry. Eventually I ordered chips for a snack and was a tad disappointed to see it was just a bag of chips rather than house made, it may have mentioned that on the menu but I don't recall seeing it. Had to add a pic of the goodies available in the ladies bathroom. I always love when restaurants have these items available! Cheers!

2nd Shift is our new favorite brewery in STL! We loved the welcoming casual environment, the family friendly vibe, and of course, the beers! You can't go wrong with the Firefly, and I even found an IPA I liked - usually my least favorite. 2nd Shifts gets brownie points from me for being woman owned too! We'll definitely be back to check out the Biergarten and play some more family games!

And Look! It Has Pockets! It was an excellent wheat beer!

I recently had three different beers from 2nd Shift Brewing. All of them were very enjoyable and fun to drink! Technical Ecstasy was the first beer that Steve and I enjoyed from this brewery. It was a Czech Pilsner with a nice clean, light body and a fine hoppy and floral flavor profile to it. The next was the Half Hit Stout. A bit of a lighter stout which we like with a cinnamon and roasty like flavor. A nice stout to have if you don't want anything too heavy. The final beer was my favorite and this was a wheat beer called And Look! It Has Pockets! a very fine flavor profile perfectly balanced and not too heavy handed with any one ingredient. Pleasurable flavor notes include coriander, orange and clove. Also comes along clean tasting too just like the other two beers we enjoyed. Fun beer experience with this brewery which is what Steve and I always look for.

I had to make a visit at one of my old stomping grounds from when I lived in St. Louis. 2nd Shift Brewing was down the street from where I lived and Art of Neurosis was one of my gateway craft beers. They do everything from light lagers to stouts darker than a St. Louis Cardinals fan's spirit after losing to the Cubs (I know this feeling from experience). I tried four beers via a flight that spanned their different styles. Dissatisfied IPA: A Triple Dry-Hopped Double IPA that used Idaho 7, Citra, and Simcoe Hops. The beer was bold, bitter, and extremely juicy. The aroma is like smelling a fruit stand in the tropics with lots of pineapple, mango, and peach. A citrus forward flavor with high bitterness and medium malt. Night Sprytes: An American Rice Lager with lime sitting at a 3.8% is a fantastic beer to enjoy while sitting on the patio in the St. Louis heat. Very light with low hints of rice, cracker, and medium notes of lime. Liquid Spiritual Delight with Coffee Shop Coffee A Barrel-Aged version of the Imperial Stout Liquid Spiritual Delight with coffee from Coffee Shop added. Pleasant bitterness from the coffee and malt, roasty, and dark chocolate character. Not overly thick and a low warming. Kolsch: A classic Kolsch, a style I can't turn down when I see it on the menu. The brewery does a fantastic job at creating a crisp, light, and just very mildly fruit. Malt character increases on finish, but does not overwhelm. Another good beer to enjoy in the summer. Always a fun and enjoyable trip at 2nd Shift Brewing!

Near The Hill, if you like craft beers, this local microbrew is a great spot to hang out for adults! Bring your dog, friends and family to enjoy spacious patio seating plus plenty of indoor space to relax and savor their brews! No "flight" options yet, but order a full 12 oz glass ($5), or 6 oz pour (1/2 cost) to try a couple varieties. Also, their kitchen is not currently available, so consider bringing your own snacks, sandwich or meal if you plan to stay for a longer beer tasting indulgence. This was a solid 4.0 experience for me; and when they can restart serving cooked snacks and add taster flights, I think it deserves a 4.5 rating! Today my personal favorite was their Little Big Hop, a NE type Session IPA. Smooth to drink, good flavors, it brought Hoppiness to my day! Also tried a few others... Art of Neurosis (American IPA), Sunny Cat (NE IPA with Tangerine) and Samsquatch (West Coast IPA) - all excellent depending your personal taste. Owner provides friendly customer service, and don't forget to take-out any of your favorites! Craft beer lovers, don't miss this one! ENJOY!!

Case in point with Blue Jay Brewing, the latest that I have had the feelings towards I described above. Steve and I were both very impressed with the beer we had from here. What we had was a pilsner, the High Five. In this particular flavor profile we detected some floral, herbal, some peppery notes and just a hint of citrus. Other features with this beer are biscuity, hoppy and a hint of bitterness to a broader scheme with this beer which is initially well balanced, mellow and smooth. I rated this beer highly on Untappd and definitely recommend it. I would love to try some of their other beers to see how I'd feel and rate them but so what an excellent start!

I enjoyed that quiet space for a bit and the afternoon air after the walk from Cortex made the wait feel intentional rather than inconvenient. After setting up at the huge table in the corner, I stepped up to the bar where I was warmly greeted. I chose their Fish Fry, which they call a light lager. It was in a huge mug and that worked out just fine for me as it lasted a while. Oh, and some chicken wings. These were tasty buggers. Served quite hot with a rub that was more spice than sauce. Very yummy and the two sauces were perfect accompaniment. Absolutely delicious. Not long after, friends arrived and I shifted from solo laptop time to conversation. Prince would have given it a thumbs up. After some intense conversations with my buds, I ordered some food and a beer. I typically get their famous burger with fries or the chicken wings, but I got adventurous and ordered the nachos. When I asked the bartender how they were, he said that's what he was having for dinner and showed me his plate which sold me. It may have only been an appetizer, but it was filling and easy to eat while enjoying more convo. I'm a fan of Avery Brewing in Colorado, so I had their White Rascal as my beer. Rockwell is so close to getting a 5 Star rating from me, but they keep missing the mark on the customer service. It's good, but some of the staff treat older customers differently then those their age. This visit, one of them was cold and had attitude. After a few tips, they warmed up and provided friendly service and actually got chatty. So I think next time, they may just get the bump to 5.

I came with my parents and husband and we all agreed it was a great idea and a very comfortable space, perfect for what was needed. I was surprised at how relatively ample the parking was here despite its proximity to the city. We found a spot with no problems. There were discreet signs that directed us up the stairs to where the event was held. It was spacious, airy, and cool, with a decent number of tables and a very nice large bar, as well as restrooms for both men and women. Our family members who spoke were able to stand on a small stage and share their thoughts. The food was served buffet style in front of the stage. Although you'd think it might be hard to hear given the acoustics, they worked out a way to make it so their speeches could be heard easily. Even visiting with other folks after they spoke, it never became too loud to hear each other. There are also nice TVs which displayed photos of the family. Although we used the space for a celebration of life, I can imagine it would be a good fit for all sorts of events, from corporate parties to just a chill hang out space when it's open to the public. It did get a little bit hot in the space as the event wore on, but it wasn't intolerable. The food and drinks were also quite tasty, especially for catered/buffet style food. There were pretzel bites and cheese dip and three different types of slider burgers: a standard/original burger, a taco burger, and an Impossible burger. The pretzel bites were crispy and buttery. I had a taco burger slider. It was a tiny bit dry but had a great flavor. The bartenders were great -- friendly, answering questions, working efficiently, and very kind to all the guests. Husband enjoyed the beers he tried and my mom and I both ordered the "Cranberry Crush," which was a yummy (and strong!) cocktail that was bright and perfectly sweet. It's not altogether different from the smell of beer as it's coming back up, and it called to mind my illustrious, mostly-forgotten-at-this-point college years. I was suddenly compelled to listen to Cannibal Ox and watch certain videos that I'd pilfered from Kazaa, and it's probably for the best that I didn't have access to a circa 1998 Compaq Presario in that moment. The vibe in Bluewood Brewing is a lot classier. There's no "Iron Galaxy" over the PA. The lights are dimmed, which I imagine would be convenient if there was someone there you owed money to. I was particularly impressed with a long table on the patio. I remarked to a member of my running group that it almost certainly didn't come from IKEA. The wood was of too high a quality. The food menu is limited to a small selection of standard sports-bar fare, but this is not anywhere you'd go to watch the game. They might not have any TVs. Did they spend too much on the table? Also, they don't sell any beer in cans, that I'm aware of, which I generally prefer as someone who, as the evening progresses, is prone to dropping things. I went with something called Crush, which is an orange-flavored high-gravity IPA. It was the highest ABV selection on their regular beer menu, but it also costs a little bit more, so you're not really getting over on them--unless you thought to "pregame." I found it to be both less "stiff" than I was expecting and less orange-tasting, in a good way but also in a bad way, in that anything that fails to conform to expectation is at least somewhat disappointing. I was expecting paint thinner and orange juice. I got something that was balanced and flavorful. From the food menu, I got the daily special, which was a sort of elevated patty melt called the Stable Melt. It came with two all-beef patties, Swiss, caramelized onions and "Frisco" sauce on Union Loafers marbled rye, with your choice of chips or fries. It was $18, and as I was standing there a guy came out and changed the price to $19, presumably due to developments in the war with Iran. I was assured that I'd be "grandfathered in" at $18, but I'm not sure if he told the guy at the register and I didn't bother to check. It wasn't necessarily my kind of thing, but it was a great burger. The name-brand bread alone nearly justified the price increase. The meat was generously proportioned (no Diddy), but it didn't quite extend to the edges of the bread. Perhaps if it were one larger patty? The onions gave it a sophisticated Salisbury steak vibe, wholly superior to Hungry Man. The fries called to mind the fries at Wendy's. If only they offered a Frosty to dip them in. It wouldn't necessarily go with their beer. I'd suggest they put bourbon or something in it, but I shudder to think what they might charge.
