Service was good. Had a beer flight & some holiday eggnog. The decorations for Christmas were beautiful. The fireplace was cozy. Been before & will be back again.

The next stop of "Tour De St. Louis" with my friend from out of town was Bluewood Brewing. Parking is limited to street parking but we walked over from where we were previously to not have to move the car around. When you walk in, this massively beautiful chandelier and wall of beers meets you. My friend and I had a couple of brews and played funny card games at our table. When our order was up of wings and fries, I was satisfied with the wings having a nice crunch and the fries having good seasoning! There is also a piano near the restrooms that kind of gave me old school vibes. I played a song on it real quick without feeling like I was annoying guests. This place was great and I will be back!

I went to Bluewood Brewing for the Sunday night steak dinner meal and loved my meal and it was reasonably priced for a delicious ribeye meal with Montreal butter and with two sides that included a baked potato and asparagus. For the past few years I've been coming to Bluewood regularly for drinks since I catch shows often down the street at Off Broadway so I love all their ales, porters, and stouts. The building is a very cool old space in St. Louis and the service has always been good. I wished they had a sign saying to order at the bar since it took a few awkward seconds to realize that when I walked up to the food window where the food menu was and attempted to order there. I definitely want to go back for the hot fried chicken sandwich that uses STL red hot riblet potato chips for breading next time I go, it looks great.

I like this place but it's one of the most expensive breweries in St Louis area. They do have some decent beers. The internet sucks & you do not get much of a cell service inside. The food is over priced & not great options. $9 for the pretzel bites in the photo. That's almost $1 each

Nashville hot chicken sandwich with fries seasoned with red hot riplet dust.

This was my first time at bluewood. I arrived early for a comedy show. I had a beer and then ordered food and another beer. I got the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich with fries seasoned with red hot riplet dust. The fries were perfect. Golden, slightly crispy, warm, smooth, salty, sweet, spicy, and addicting. The chicken sandwich is made with two big chicken thighs. The sandwich looks and js amazing but without knowing it was a thigh I was concerned after seeing how juicy and not the opaque white I would see in a chicken beast. Half way through I went to ask about it and they informed me they're chicken thighs and they temperature check every one to 170 degrees. That was enough for me to enjoy the rest of it. This was a good amount of food. I have a big appetite and was satisfied from this meal. Thanks Bluewood!

Bluewood opened in the former Lemp stables in 2019. The high ceilings and dark wood give the place rustic charm. Every beer here is a winner! There's a decent variety--heavy on IPAs, but also including a Kolsh (Sparkly Bits--crisp and refreshing!), brown ales, lagers, several stouts, & more. And the food has been fantastic since Bluewood took over their own kitchen. Fried chicken is their specialty and shows up on sandwiches and salads. Fries are hot and crispy; try the seasoned option for a little kick. Salads are a nice size and have very well-balanced flavors; the butternut squash salad is tossed in a tangy roasted red pepper sauce that has just a bit of sweetness. Staff is congenial and helpful with those "what beer should I try next?" choices. And events are well-done here too; check the online calendar for schedule of bingo, trivia, and live entertainment. Several screens air local sports, and there's pile of board games to choose from as well. Seating in the tap room varies from high-tops to long tables to overstuffed furniture by the fireplace, plus there's a "patio" (covered but open-air) with room for more.

I tried Bluewood Brewing for the first time over the weekend and was very impressed. Bluewood Brewing is in the old stable house of Lemp Brewery. There is a beautiful chandelier and the building itself is unique. I got a sour beer to drink. My husband got the pumpkin beer and both were delicious. We got to go on a tour of the brewing process hosted by the owner and it was very interesting and informational. Bluewood also has a food menu. We got a side of fries, and they were so good and seasoned to perfection. I would love to come back and try more food on the menu.

The places was so pretty, inside and out. The old light fixtures and the wrought iron and brick. Beautiful. The food was really good! I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken and when it came out I said "This is huge, I'll never finish it." and then I finished it. There are more things on the menu I want to try too, but than Nashville chicken.... I want it again!

Beautiful outside patio gates drew us in as we had never known about this spot! Great beer and food selection. The chicken strips were phenomenal. Highly recommend and will be back!

Stumbled upon Bluewood while waiting for doors to open at Off Broadway just down the street. Been meaning to check it out for years, timing was perfect early on a Friday evening, semi crowded but easily got a table. Ordered food at the separate counter, the guy that took our order was also the one making food, absolute pro, got to business but was polite. While we waited we got a couple beers at the bar, quick and friendly bartenders. The atmosphere was cool, open and breezy but the location of the inside area felt kind of secretive in a way, tucked away. Would have definitely hung out longer, will be back!

Case in point with Blue Jay Brewing, the latest that I have had the feelings towards I described above. Steve and I were both very impressed with the beer we had from here. What we had was a pilsner, the High Five. In this particular flavor profile we detected some floral, herbal, some peppery notes and just a hint of citrus. Other features with this beer are biscuity, hoppy and a hint of bitterness to a broader scheme with this beer which is initially well balanced, mellow and smooth. I rated this beer highly on Untappd and definitely recommend it. I would love to try some of their other beers to see how I'd feel and rate them but so what an excellent start!

If you try any of their beers, you'll know why. The beer variety here does not have gimmicky flavors but instead leans into classic flavors done really well. They focus on lagers and other lighter beers. My favorite is the Little Birds which is a Jamaican-style lager which has some fruit forward flavor. If you come in, make sure to try some food from Farm Spirit. The smashburger is tasty, I suggest to "Make It Yucky" with grilled onions and Yucky sauce.

I enjoyed that quiet space for a bit and the afternoon air after the walk from Cortex made the wait feel intentional rather than inconvenient. Comfortable seating out here and the light breeze with the afternoon light was nice as I cranked out a few Yelp reviews before I spotted other customers going inside. After setting up at the huge table in the corner, I stepped up to the bar where I was warmly greeted. I chose their Fish Fry, which they call a light lager. It was in a huge mug and that worked out just fine for me as it lasted a while. Oh, and some chicken wings. These were tasty buggers. Served quite hot with a rub that was more spice than sauce. Very yummy and the two sauces were perfect accompaniment. Absolutely delicious. Not long after, friends arrived and I shifted from solo laptop time to conversation. It's nice to see how Rockwell handles the flow of customers. Casual, attentive, friendly. Just right for a great brewpub and a great time. They do have a parking lot. It was just an easy experience today and a great spot for a meetup or hanging out on your own. [Round number review 400 of 2026 - 498 in Missouri - 25583 overall]

The acoustics at times are loud, but you can still hear your friends gathered around the table. My recent visit as always, was to meet-up with some friends. I started out with a Raspberry Beret one of their specialty cocktails. It was my favorite vodka, Tito's with Raspberry syrup and lemon. It was shaken, not stirred and severed up like a martini. Prince would have given it a thumbs up. After some intense conversations with my buds, I ordered some food and a beer. I typically get their famous burger with fries or the chicken wings, but I got adventurous and ordered the nachos. When I asked the bartender how they were, he said that's what he was having for dinner and showed me his plate which sold me. It may have only been an appetizer, but it was filling and easy to eat while enjoying more convo. I'm a fan of Avery Brewing in Colorado, so I had their White Rascal as my beer. Rockwell is so close to getting a 5 Star rating from me, but they keep missing the mark on the customer service. It's good, but some of the staff treat older customers differently then those their age. This visit, one of them was cold and had attitude. After a few tips, they warmed up and provided friendly service and actually got chatty. So I think next time, they may just get the bump to 5.

I came with my parents and husband and we all agreed it was a great idea and a very comfortable space, perfect for what was needed. I was surprised at how relatively ample the parking was here despite its proximity to the city. We found a spot with no problems. There were discreet signs that directed us up the stairs to where the event was held. It was spacious, airy, and cool, with a decent number of tables and a very nice large bar, as well as restrooms for both men and women. Our family members who spoke were able to stand on a small stage and share their thoughts. The food was served buffet style in front of the stage. Although you'd think it might be hard to hear given the acoustics, they worked out a way to make it so their speeches could be heard easily. Even visiting with other folks after they spoke, it never became too loud to hear each other. There are also nice TVs which displayed photos of the family. Although we used the space for a celebration of life, I can imagine it would be a good fit for all sorts of events, from corporate parties to just a chill hang out space when it's open to the public. It did get a little bit hot in the space as the event wore on, but it wasn't intolerable. The food and drinks were also quite tasty, especially for catered/buffet style food. There were pretzel bites and cheese dip and three different types of slider burgers: a standard/original burger, a taco burger, and an Impossible burger. The pretzel bites were crispy and buttery. I had a taco burger slider. It was a tiny bit dry but had a great flavor. The bartenders were great -- friendly, answering questions, working efficiently, and very kind to all the guests. Husband enjoyed the beers he tried and my mom and I both ordered the "Cranberry Crush," which was a yummy (and strong!) cocktail that was bright and perfectly sweet. They also serve mocktails, which I love! Glad to include folks who are sober. Thanks, 4 Hands, for creating a welcoming and comfortable space for us!
