Went out with a group of girlfriends on a Thursday night and had a great time watching the sun set over the fields with our cocktails, sandwiches, and charcuterie. New location and it was HARD to find even with navigation. No signs to help at all. However, totally worth the hunt. Hubby had a flight and I had a Jala-peach-me and it was peach vodka with a lime/jalapeno infused mixer. 10 out of 10 recommendation. Beautiful view and venue. Service was on point. I recently had the opportunity to visit Stumpy's Spirits and enjoy their tour! Please sign up in advanced for the tour. The $12 cost is well worth it! We had tastings of their lineup of spirits and then was offered a cocktail from their curated list to enjoy while we walked around during the distillery tour. You also get to keep the souvenir glass! We were lucky enough to have our tasting and tour conducted by the 8th generation owner of Stumpf Farms, Adam Stumpf, and his wife Laura. They were the sweetest people and Adam was so knowledgeable about the distilling process. Please make this a roadtrip destination this summer because it is worth the visit. Used a Groupon to try out their spirits in a tour. The tour was great - informative and tasty. You get to try a variety of spirits. I loved the pecan pie whiskey. It was a good setup for a tour at the bar though a little crowded in the small space. The tour guide was knowledgeable and kind. The tasting part happens in the beginning which was different compared to other tours I've done, but smart because the alcohol would be worn off by the time you leave. It was cool to see their facility. The cocktail included was a little basic since they don't have a full bar - as in the ingredients were like, Welch's pineapple juice, Sprite, etc. though they did have some cool types of bitters. One of the best things about this place is how friendly the staff folks are. Sydney and her coworker (didn't catch her name) were informative and helpful. At this time when you visit the distillery you can either go on a tour or just sample some of their ever growing selection of spirits. Samples are $1each but fees are waived if you buy a bottle. They also sell several different craft cocktail mixers which pair nicely with their spirits. Of course they sell a lot of other merchandise too such as t shirts, candles and soaps. I should have counted how many different spirits they now have- at least 8 I would say. My favorites were lemon whisky (sounds bad but tastes good) and peach vodka. We got a bottle of lemon whiskey and a couple of the cocktail mixers. They are currently in process of building a new event center which will afford them more room for in the tasting room itself, a place to hangout and enjoy a cocktail and of course events. read more

Love that this is a family owned business and they do everything in-house. They go through a pretty full tasting from vodka to whiskey to bourbon. Go here. We have done a few distillery tours in our area, and this one was our favorite so far. They have vodka, whiskey, and just released gin. If you do a tour, you get 6 samples of the alcohol they have available, a tasting glass, and a small cocktail which you can enjoy while touring the facility. The owners are great: friendly and informative. The grains for the alcohol are grown there on their family farm. We were extra lucky to have found a Groupon deal for tours. read more

I just randomly stopped by the other day. I am always on the look out for new distilleries and this was in my route AND it was open. I headed off the main road, drove for less than a mile and saw this large building in the middle of a corn field with the distillery name on the front. There weren't a lot of cars so I didn't know what to expect. I feel bad for not recalling names but I was greeted by who I eventually found out was the wife of the distiller and then the distiller himself. It was a lobby area with a sampling bar and other products around. Through double french doors you could see the main distilling room. Another couple happened to show up and the owner was more than happy to give a tour and description of the processes they use. He is very proud that they use all local products to make the spirits. They can get what they need right out the door or in the ground and the byproducts go back to the local farms. It was nice to hear all the steps, be able to see and smell the product at different stages, and then eventually head out for a taste. For $2 (and an ID) you can sample what they sell: Vodka, White whiskey, and bourbon. The distiller hung around during the sampling and answered all our questions. Other folks showed up for samples, products, and tours. The tour was nothing fancy but very informative. I hope they succeed and to that end I left with some of their products and will most likely be back. read more

A small organized set-up that has really exploded since their opening in 2014. The tasting room bar area had a lot of flare, with the side wall showcasing incredible chalk artistry about how spirits are produced and a whole collection of wearables hung about. The two cats, one named barley were not shy about playing on everything that appeared stable enough. The two leaders of the tour were very enigmatic and explained the process well. I feel like I came away from the experience more knowledgeable about all things spirits and Stumpy's. I was bummed that the other building was under renovation though so we weren't able to view barrels and the still. Bought plenty of alcohol for home though, the barrel aged pecan pie whiskey is definitely a gateway whiskey. And the gin was even palatable... read more

I have been wanting to check out this local gem. Finally we made the short drive off of Route 3 and found the distillery. It is nestled on the owners family farm. He proudly told us during the tour that his whiskey is made similar to those in KY on the Bourbon trail, they use water feed springs that run under the property to make their "spirits". During the tour we were walked through the process of making the whiskey and vodka. After the tour we stopped in the tasting room/gift shop. We sampled their Pecan Pie Whiskey, their Honey Whiskey and my favorite the Unbroken Vodka. All distilled on their property. A special that they had was a free t-shirt with a bottle purchase. So you will be fashionable and drunk.... This place is worth the stop, and you can take a bottle home to sip at your leisure. read more

This local distillery is off the beaten path but worth the visit. We live in STL but within a quick 30 minute drive, outside Columbia IL is Stumpy's Spirits Distillery. They produce Unbroken Vodka and Old Monroe Bourbon, with a Gin on the way. Also BBQ sauce. The owners (Laura & Adam) are enthusiastic and friendly and do a great job on the tour. You get to try all their products in stock (some flavors are seasonal). They even have flavored spirits such as Green Apple, Pecan Pie and Honey. They also host Sip and Painting parties as well as a Spring Festival. We love to support local businesses and this is one worth supporting! read more

We (my wife and I) decided to make the 30 minute trip and check out Stumpy's Spirits. We were looking for an adventure on a beautiful late summer day and it sounded interesting. We're so glad that we did! What a wonderful experience. The owner and his wife were working the tasting room. That's a welcome sight as they're both obviously very knowledgeable about their product. We've been to Napa and Bardstown tasting rooms where the person pouring for you was some minimum wage novice that couldn't do more than read the label to you. It's very nice to actually learn about what you're drinking. We tasted all of the available products: Vodka, White Whiskey, Bourbon, Pecan Pie Whiskey, Honey Whiskey, and Lemon Drop Whiskey. Each offering was fantastic. The Vodka was very smooth while also having a distinct taste. The bourbon, while younger than the Bardstown products, was very nice. Flavor without the overpowering alcohol burn and finish. The White Whiskey was much smoother than expected, even at 100 proof. Each flavored whiskey exhibited the individual flavor (honey, pecan, lemon) without the gooey syrup-like whiskeys (from Beam and Evan Williams, for example). You get the flavor AND the whiskey. Just enough flavor to tell you what it us while keeping the whiskey flavor. Four of the six were available for purchasing and we got one of each: Vodka, White Whiskey, Bourbon, and the Honey. The Pecan and Lemon are seasonal varieties. The Lemon is coming out next Saturday (9/10/2016), so we'll be back soon (probably on 9/10, lol). Adam (the owner) told us that Schnucks in Waterloo (miles south) still had some of the Pecan Whiskey. In the parking lot, we plugged the address into our phone and off we went...came away with three bottles (gotta make it last!) and one more bottle of the Honey. Edit: Tastes are $1 each, but you don't get charged if you purchase a bottle. You'll buy at least one...so don't sweat the tasting fee. Folks, you can't go wrong with a trip to Stumpy's. This is a locally owned start up business. The owner uses local ingredients and he's producing an excellent product. Adam and his wife are very nice and appreciated our purchase. A refreshing change from just standing in line at Beam and getting wrung up while feeling like cattle. Check this place out. You'll be glad that you did!!! read more
