We had a large party for Easter brunch all ages and dietary requirements. Babies, toddlers, seniors etc. the food was all good and came hot. Our server was good. Very accommodating and helpful!

Food is perfect for a weekend big breakfast and it's also very affordable. Much higher quality compared to places like ihop and the wait staff was very friendly. Service was quick, and the food was good

Breakfast early on a Saturday morning. They have on online waitlist but we didn't need it this early. Snagged a spot on the street right in front but they also have a small parking lot. Walked in and we were seated right away. Mindy was our server; she got us started with water and we ordered coffee. Mindy was friendly and waited on us with a smile. She took our order and the food arrived in a flash. I had let this place fall off my radar for whatever reason, but our food was fast and hot, and everything was great. I got a classic breakfast with Salsiccia. Eggs over easy and dry wheat toast. The order came out correct and the eggs were cooked as asked for. My friend got eggs with diced ham and a side of pancakes, she enjoyed hers, too. Coffee was fresh and hot, and I took mine to-go since I didn't finish it, it was decent. Good food, good service!

so sad. I walked in and saw the atmosphere and felt like I was back in the south. I thought the food was going to be spectacular. was very disappointed. the fruit cup was warm. the eggs overdone. and the hollandaise had way too much citrus it was too tart to eat.

When my wife and I visit our relatives on the hill, we make it a point to travel over to Chris's pancake house. We know we can usually be waited on and receive excellent food in a timely matter. That makes getting in and out expedient. I have a fondness for the restaurant because of one of their dishes the Johnny rabbit breakfast from the radio station KXOK. My band, the Sound Waves. Appeared several times with the celebrities and disc jockeys. Don a.k.a. Johnny rabbit was a good friend and excellent entertainer and brought St. Louis much fame. I don't know if he ate at this restaurant, but I was impressed to see his name on the menu. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant for good food and service. You will not be disappointed.

From Chicago, in town to visit my daughter. She chose CP&D for brunch. Here are some thots: -Feels like a small town diner, very friendly, good service. -I ordered the classic breakfast with sausage patties--quite good. Scrambled eggs were slightly undercooked. Cakes were good. -It couldn't have taken more than 10 minutes for our food to come out, hot and delicious. I would recommend, if you're looking for a brunch spot that's not a chain.

Songbird makes great use of its space and should be near the top of your STL brunch list. A reasonably-sized (not-overwhelming) menu, great coffee, delicious cocktails, quick, attentive service, and undeniably delicous food. I took off on a redeye this morning (coffee courtesy of Blueprint), and landed on the Farm Sampler: two scrambled eggs, applewood smoked bacon, sourdough toast, sliced avocado and sauteed shiitake mushrooms. Phenomenal flavors and textures. Toast is typically an afterthought for me, but the buttery crunch of the sourdough has to be spotlighted. The Bee's Knees cocktail was also a wonderfully refreshing prelude to the approaching STL summer. The time has come, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say: wake up, reserve, enjoy.

I wanted my toast's jam to be on the side and they said no. It was a thick tasteless brick without the jam. The items are not as traditional for a breakfast spot, and when I asked the server what they were known for she said the drinks.... They also run a tight turnaround time so they will make you feel uncomfortable when its time to clear your table and pay the bill because they will tell you the next reservation is in 5minutes. The plates were all different and my guest who got a sandwich had her food come out in a plastic fry basket instead of the nicer plates. Odd. As I mentioned earlier, they are not kid friendly as they don't have a kids menu or kid friendly items like fruit and pancakes. We ordered a side of avocado and chicken sausage as those were the safest for us. Also there are no changing tables in the restrooms. Accessibility note: the entrance is a giant multi-slope and 1 turn ramp into a cramped lobby. The men's restroom is the only one on the main floor and female restroom is tucked far in the backroom inaccessible due to a steep step in the back. It is not wheelchair or walker friendly.

I ordered the Hatch'd By You which consisted of two eggs, meat, hash browns and and English muffin. I thought everything was great. Amazing restaurant, with amazing staff…read more I went here with my kids for an early fathers day breakfast. We made a reservation to this place. It said we were ninth in line. We thought we had to wait for a long time, but it actually went quick (like 5 minutes) when we got there. We did not realize this place had an upstairs, until our waiter guided us. This place looks very large on the inside compared to what it looks like on the outside. The restaurant also had an rustic atmosphere. With exposed pipes, rusted decor, and 80's memorabilia on the shelf. We ordered coffee here, and one of them came in a Christmas cup. Even though it was six months away. My wife chuckled on how they served her coffee in a Christmas cup. Mine came in a plain white cup. But I still excessively chuckled on how funny the menu is and the staff are. The staff are very attentive to how your food tastes and make plenty of funny jokes with you. They also are very descriptive on what the specials on pancakes and omelettes are. As well as being very honest. I ordered the Benny's Got Beef Or Belly with Brisket. I know, long name. I watched the weather while my food was being prepared, and occasionally looking at the PBS TV nearby. My wife was drawing with my 11 year old daughter (and writing "secret messages") as their food was being prepped and prepared. When my food finally came out, I immediately took a bite. The brisket was very juicy and tender. And the eggs were delicious on the side. I tried this place several years ago. Was still the same good taste that I remember when I took my wife to this place. Very amazing place. Will come again.

Fantastic food, mediocre service…read more I took my partner her for his birthday, we were planning to celebrate with friends over the weekend but I wanted to treat him to a romantic dinner with incredible food in a laid back environment and this completely fit the bill. We had been previously for brunch but neither of us had been for dinner so we were really excited. From the moment we walked in the vibes just felt off. Not bad, just off. I made a reservation for 7pm. When we pulled up at 6:55 I noticed that my reservation confirmation showed 6:45. I'm certain I made it for 7:00. Not sure what happened there, and not blaming them for that, but I'm curious if that's why things felt off. When creating a reservation it prompts you to include any dietary restrictions and whether you are celebrating anything. I included that we were celebrating a 40th birthday. Despite the restaurant being relatively empty we were crammed directly next to another table despite other 2 tops being available. We were close enough to our neighbors to hear their entire conversation. It's a small space, I get it, but it felt odd especially since several tables around us remained empty for the 2 hours of our visit. I enjoy a leisurely dinner but that not what this was. The service was just that slow and inattentive that it took that long. We saw our server visit the table next to us several times before we were even greeted. I waited about 10 minutes before finally going to the bathroom and that's when he decided to come to the table, so if there was a greeting, listing specials anything at all I missed it'. He came by again when my partner was in the bathroom. We had already waited a while, I would not have minded waiting a little longer for us both to be present for the greeting. I want to be clear that the service was in no way bad, it was just very lackluster. The only real issue we ran into was waiting a very long time for one of our appetizers. Not the end of the world, but for the caliber of restaurant that this is I would at least expect attentive or kind or personable service and it was none of those. He was nice enough, but was very much an order-taker only. We were not offered any suggestions or recommendations at all, it felt very transactional. The kicker was as we were leaving we see someone (not our server) approaching our table with a dessert and a candle. They specifically walked past another party towards where we were sitting (the table next to us was gone by this point). We had paid our bill about 10 minutes earlier and were just walking away. I think "oh they are bringing him a birthday dessert how sweet!" So we sit back at our table only to see the same person backtrack to a nearby table and bring the dessert to them. I was mortified for thinking it was for us and actually sitting back down. We leave, there are 3 people standing there (including the person who brought the dessert and saw the whole thing) and no one even acknowledges us leaving. It was all just so bizarre. I wasn't expecting rolling out the red carpet and certainly wasn't expecting anything for free for the birthday, but I was expecting *some* level of hospitality, especially when I made it explicitly clear we were celebrating. My partner does not treat himself to ANYTHING nice and it was a milestone birthday. I wanted to make it unforgettable. We loved our food and again, didn't have a *bad* experience, but I chose to dine out to make him feel as special and well taken care of as he makes me feel and this just didn't hit the mark.

The Fleur-de-Lys is the epitome of a luxurious getaway. Whether it is the quaintly appointed guest…read morerooms or the delightful library and parlor, each area of this former residence is unique and meticulously maintained. While it is not likely the norm, the owners, Mark & Leslie, met us at the front door, quite literally inviting us into their establishment. It was simply the most welcoming manner in which to be introduced to this treasure and Leslie quickly engaged us with the history of the home and how she and Mark had recently become the owners. We chose this destination based upon the significance of the Fleur-de-lis to my love, a native New Orleanian. Given St. Louis' rich French heritage, the mansion was originally outfitted with four chimneys that feature the fleur-de-lis design and the pattern is repeated throughout the home. While we enjoyed a quiet morning coffee in the back of the property, a lovely shaded patio area, she noticed how many places the symbol was present. She actually made mention to Mark & Leslie that they could make an activity out of counting/finding all of the fleur-de-lis around the home. What a fun idea! We were fortunate enough to book the Tower Grove Park room, a spacious room fitted with a king-size bed and a two-person jacuzzi tub. There is even a 'fainting couch' for that extra French touch! The bed was amazingly comfortable and the decor and accoutrements were exceptional, right down to the pocket doors and writing desk. But a B&B is set apart by the fare served in the morning, and this is where Mark, a chef by trade, and Leslie, a self-taught baker, knock it out of the park. That morning's menu included a fruit starter, fresh juice, Leslie's home-baked sourdough toast and home-baked English muffins, and Mark's egg and sausage soufflés with country potatoes. The entire breakfast had us completely over the moon! We felt so at home that we wanted to clear our own place - so we did! The rates are competitive and well worth every moment spent here. There is parking behind the property, as well as across from the property, and each guest is allowed a unique security code so as to gain entry while you are enjoying your stay. I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this getaway, and Mark, Leslie, & assistant Sammy made us feel like family from the moment we crossed the threshold. We'll be back - and you should give Fleur-de-Lys a try!
