This place was super tasty! Staff were friendly and amazingly attentive. Food was good. I thought the shakshuka slinger was delicious. Would totally come back someday!

Loved it so much the first morning I went back again! This time treated the brisket slopper and it was great! Highly recommend. Service was a bit slow; had to ask for a bunch of things (more coffee, refills, etc.)

I should've checked the reviews before coming here but service was incredibly slow. The food was fine - the French toast was perfectly cooked, the fruit salad was washed and clean (but provided little variety, just grapes blueberries and a green apples), and the egg and potatoes were very salty. Since my food took a while to come out, I anticipated that it would be hot, but most of it was luke warm. The decorations inside are on-theme featuring lots of roosters, as statues, paintings, and vinyl. It's a relaxed atmosphere for sure.

It was a busy morning at Roosters Downtown but the service was great. We were seated way faster than I expected to be. The server was polite and efficient even though the place was crowded. The sign of an experienced wait staff! For me, the food was just so-so. The biscuit was a bit dry and the potatoes over cooked and greasy. The dining area was loud. I wish restaurants would pay more attention to sound when designing their spaces. But I do love the paintings on the walls!!

First time here and dont know if we will be back. There was a 35-40 min wait, no biggie. Then we were seated. It was hot inside the restaurant, very hot. So hot our waiter was visible sweating, and we were sweating just sitting there. Not sure if this place had air-conditioning or if it was broken but it was hot. They should have had fans.. I don't know if they were short staffed or just slow moving restaurant, but it took forever for everything. But the food finally came and it was good. But not worth sitting ans sweating and taking 3 hours from walk in to walk out. And I think it was over priced. 3 meals and our bill was close to 80.00. But if u have nothing better to do and want to wait and sweat this might be ur place to try out.

We had a large group and they got us in fast at a community table. They warned us that food was taking 50 minutes to come out as they were backed up. Waiter was friendly but haggled. Food came out much quicker than warned even though mine came out 5 minutes later than the other 7 in our party. My only real complaint was that the food was just not that great. Potatoes were overcooked and tastes strange, eggs also had a strange flavor. Chicken sausage was decent and toast was good. But overall disappointed.

Again the food tasted well but it wasn't hot at all... not even warm. Also they have a server, i want to say his name was Justin. He has the personality of a potato... Probably my last time visiting.

Tasty for breakfast, friendly service, and equally friendly patrons. Central bar area, tables surrounding it, high ceilings and windows, and of course, a metal rooster sculpture at the front. Apple crumble pancakes were very good. Pork sausage patty was large and dense, not my favorite. 3.5 stars but rounding up seems reasonable.

Needed a place for breakfast and this was perfect. I got the chicken sausage scramble and my mom got ham and Swiss scramble. Both were good. Loved the potatoes that came with it. Definitely a lot of food. Friends and family got crepes and omelettes which they seemed to enjoy. We shared the bread pudding as a table which was a good sweet treat. Also shared Turkish latte and cinnamon latte. Turkish latte was good with the coconut milk. Cinnamon latte was just an average latte with oatmilk. The glasses they had with the chicken and egg on it were adorable. Our server was very polite and attentive.

Popped in for a quick bite, the food took a bit of time to arrive but once our plates were dropped we began to dig in. Our server was helpful and she had a contagious smile. The space felt inviting and open, I was surprised that more people were not dining but it was a Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Glad we sort of had the restaurant to ourselves. Note they have a bar... and the mimosa was delightful.

Supposedly, it's a fruit salad! It is just a small bowl of blueberries, very disappointing!
    Shannon L.

Since when is a bowl of blueberries and grapes a fruit salad? This cost me four dollars, not including the tax! The service was polite, though the server had to repeat themselves due to talking quietly. The noise level is loud because lots of people talking.

The only reason I am recommending this place is because of the food which was honestly 4 stars but the front of the house is extremely poorly ran. It took almost 20 minutes before being seated and we were ignored for 30 min before we questioned the only waitress that was walking around. We finally pointed out that we had been waiting so long to the woman who passed by us several times before being told she didn't notice us at all until we said something. We decided to win her over with kindness rather than being upset, difficult, and complaining. She opened up and was much more friendly after a few visits but her attention to the table was lax at best. She could have been more observant, but maybe she had a lot on her mind and/or was having a bad morning. Still no excuse when you represent the establishment. All that being said, the food was amazingly good and well made. I saw reviews about the food being tasteless or not well seasoned. That is a problem with restaurants and that is why there is salt and pepper on the table. Once salted to each person's tastes, the flavors were there. This is NOT the fault of the kitchen but people who don't understand food service. Still, all in all, I would recommend the Rooster. Our problem was with this specific location and haven't tried the others. Maybe the front of the house is better run at the other locations but to say there is room for improvement is fair at the least without trashing the place in general. This is why I gave 3 stars. Improve the front of the house attitudes and attention and it would be a solid four!

Since this place is such a staple, we figured we had to give it a try. The place was absolutely packed, which clearly shows it's a local favorite. Even with how busy they were, our pickup order was ready on time -- actually before the scheduled pickup since I arrived about five minutes early. The atmosphere definitely had that classic local sandwich shack vibe and seemed like it would make a great casual lunch spot for almost any occasion. Unfortunately, the food itself just didn't live up to the reputation for us. We ordered the hot salami sandwiches, which they're known for, but they were extremely greasy and the only flavors that really stood out were mustard and grease. We expected a lot more flavor and balance considering it's their specialty item. We also placed a large luncheon order of 10 sandwiches. Everyone was satisfied overall and the food was decent enough, but nothing really stood out or made us excited to come back. We personally prefer Adriana's for both flavor and overall quality. One of the biggest disappointments was that none of the sandwiches had cheese on them, even though we paid an extra $2 per sandwich for the garlic cheese bread upgrade. That was frustrating considering the additional charge. Honestly, I'm guessing we may have just caught them on an off day because it's obvious this spot has a loyal following. We still appreciate supporting local STL businesses and can understand why so many people love it -- it just wasn't quite the experience we were expecting.

There wasn't that much line when I went, they take your other at the kiosk by the bar. They have a large assortment of sandwiches, comes in whole OR half (which is half the price of a whole). I ordered 2 half sandwiches, "The Meatball" and "The Steak Out". It didn't take long at all to make my sandwiches and they also have options to customize specialty sandwiches if specific toppings are wanted. The Steak Out was the 1st sandwich tried, and was the best one out of the two. The steak was cooked medium rare but isn't too rare at all or overcooked past that if you are worried about that either. Not only that, but the jalapenos and the pepper mayo are to die for, and they didn't completely soak it in sauce (which is a common concern as well). Everything tastes so freshly made, with half a sandwich honestly being more than enough for 1 sitting. Overall rating 8.9/10. The Meatball was very good as well, meatballs were cooked well throughout and tender to the bite. I am not completely mad at the Baguette being the bread of choice but they couldn't have went wrong with ciabatta neither. It was a very solid sandwich, nothing too extraordinary but nothing I can really complain about neither. Overall rating 8.3/10. In past visits, I have also tried the Enzo Gorlomi (basically a spicy italian) which I thought was better than both sandwiches I tried during that visit, but I may be biased because I love spicy italian sandwiches. Should still try though in my opinion. All in all, I would definitely come back to this place when I'm in the area, pricing is pretty good for the food amount and quality you are getting. Vibes are cool in there, they seem like a business with a lot of experience doing what they do. I wouldn't say they are the absolute best in St. Louis... yet, but they are definitely up there for sure. They are also open until 1:30AM Tues - Sat so its a great late night option.

My coworkers, who also ran, insisted on meeting up here. They didn't really run, they walked. I can't walk a 5K, because pull your head out of your ass. I could have ordered something light, but I figured I'd go in, since I won't be returning. I don't have the means or the interest to catch a soccer game at the nearby stadium, and even if I did, I heard they've got good food vendors. What do I need with this place? Depending on how much they want for beer across the street, it might make sense to pregame here, especially if they're pulling the same BS they pull at Riverport where the police roam the parking lot and try to prevent you from drinking in your car, as one does. My little brother's running group had a function here after a marathon I ran a few weeks ago. Free food and drinks. I'm not even a member of that group, but I was dressed in running attire and wearing a medal. You best believe I got my drink on. Did it aid in my recovery? No. No, it did not. I got the sense that they had busboys and randos from off the street running orders and that this place might not be fully staffed except for on game day. That was also the case yesterday evening. The guy waiting our table obviously didn't know what he was doing, but he seemed chill and ultimately got the job done. Hopefully my boss left him a tip. The menu consists of standard sports bar fare, including two sandwiches that purport to feature meat from the Carnegie Deli. I found this highly improbable, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to join the ranks of Bowzer from Sha Na Na and Arthur Fonzarelli. This may have been my one opportunity in life. You can get either a basic pastrami on rye, for purists, or people with certain dietary restrictions, or the Reuben. I of course went with the latter. I found it surprisingly neat, without too much sauerkraut, thousand island dressing and what have you, to where it gets all sloppy. The slices of meat were uniform to the point where I was concerned, but damn it if it wasn't moist and flavorful. Nullus. It's pastrami, so it's supposed to be processed anyway. It comes with your choice of fries, chips or some sort of salad. For chips, you can get Red Hot Riplets, which is nice for tourists. It'll save them from having to go to a Schnucks. We should all be lucky. I went with the fries, for the sake of citizen food journalism. Surprisingly, these were shoestring fries, not unlike at a Steak 'n Shake. You don't see that as often these days. Were they great? No. But it was still kinda neat that they had them. Really, you're just going here because it's either across the street from the soccer stadium or (I think) built into Union Station. In that sense, it's almost like they're doing you a favor by offering food that's not half bad. What else are you going to do, try to go drink in your car?
