This was my initial Terri's experience. The ratings here on Yelp and elsewhere are extremely positive, and it is apparent that they are deserved. I ordered the Italian link sausage and two-egg plate combination. This was around $17 on the menu. Unfortunately, the serving left me wanting. There were two sides from an impressive list of options (toast, fruit cup, cottage cheese, tomatoes, home fries, hash browns and pancakes). I opted for the fresh fruit cup, and it was very small. The wheat toast helped to round out the offering. For service, atmosphere, and food quality, Terri's is 5/5 stars. Have been there probably 15 times and usually very good service until yesterday. We were seated and waited and waited and waited, until my wife asked a passing waitress, who we've had before and tipped very well, and she snapped: "No I'm not"! I Mean it was so mean that my wife looked at me and said let's go. Sat there probably 15 minutes before this happened. Upon leaving I told the so called hostess what happened and she said oh well today we have e a new waitress so things are behind...Why the hell didn't she get us a water or coffee or our order. Terri's Cafe is a great breakfast restaurant that has your basic breakfast needs. The country benedict was great. The waitresses were fantastic! It was our daughter's birthday and they made her feel so special by singing happy birthday and giving her strawberries and whipped cream. A great experience that we will not forget! read more

I just moved back to Boise, ID, after 12 years. Because I couldn't move into my home, yet, I suffered through 9 days of horrible almost inedible breakfasts at my hotel and an ersatz breakfast chain. Finally, after days of an upset stomach, I found this small and nondescript, but a beautiful gem in the rough, amazing restaurant. They had a very very friendly, courteous, eager to please staff. The speed in which ordering, preparing, and delivering the amazing (which doesn't do justice to describing how GREAT IT WAS) food was at light speed. Sunday brunch adventures brought us to Terri's Cafe today. This place was poppin this Sunday morning. We did have a 30 minute wait but we actually got sat pretty quickly. With it being so busy, it did take a minute for our server to get to us. She did stop by and acknowledge our table which was nice. I appreciate that she let us know she was aware of us. She grabbed our drinks and took orders afterwards. Poor thing used 3 reusable tablets to take our order. That's a lot of tablets to carry just to take orders. I found it odd but maybe that's a new way of taking orders that I'm not used to. Breakfast did take a while to be prepared. I noticed a few tables that got their food before us after being sat after us. It could have been that our table was a party of 7 but that still doesn't make sense to me. Why the delay for our table? I grabbed the 2 eggs your way with bacon for breakfast. For my sides I grabbed fruit and country fries with a side of country gravy. The bacon was nice and crispy. The fruit was not quite ripe so it was a little hard but still sweet. The country fries and the gravy were a flop for me. The potatoes were over cooked and not seasoned. Some of the potatoes were so crunchy that it was inedible. One side of the potatoe was dark brown/overcooked and the other side was stark white. Like they cooked the potatoes all on one side and didn't flip them. I couldn't eat half of them cause they were so hard. The gravy didn't seem fresh. There was a chunky part of my gravy that they served me that looked like it had been sitting for a while. It was quite unappealing. After eating at another local breakfast joint last week, they have set the bar incredibly high. Unfortunately today, this meal just didn't do it for me. Wow! Finally a place in Meridian that I want to come back and visit again. The bash was fantastic! A fabulous suggestion to add the red potatoes as a side and the "small"pancakes. Did I say wow? Service was prompt and helpful who also offered great suggestions. It's nice to have this kind of service and extremely welcomed. Changed owners in 2017, Terri the new owner has made the breakfast fare wonderful and a delight to eat. It's hard to find great hash like this! read more

The only thing that saved them was that they had GF pancakes for our son and the server was nice-ish. (Mainly she just liked our 16 month old) This place is extremely over priced. I got a side salad ($6) and a side of onion rings ($6). Looking at the menu those prices seem fine, but then I get the food and I was shocked that's what they would serve. My "side salad" was a plate of iceberg lettuce with ONE slice of tomato and cucumber. Dennys will give you a better side salad. Also, the onion rings for $6 they gave 6 onion rings. $1/onion ring?? The part that really got me was that they charge a $2 fee for using your card. As a business owner, processing fees are part of doing business and also a write off. With a menu overpriced and the additional fees, we won't be back. read more

Good basic fair and unlikely to offend picky eaters. We went at 7:30 on a Sunday morning and the restaurant was quiet. Service was great with only half-a-dozen tables in at the time. We had heard from friends that later in the day, there can be a line out the door. What got us to visit was my never ending quest for great hollandaise sauce and Benedict or Monte Cristo. For context, I don't do nasty gravy-style hollandaise that just needs water added. I requested a sample before ordering and the cook didn't even get the amount of water added correct. Some cooks will add a hint of lemon juice during hydration to give it basic freshness, but not here. So I went to the lunch menu. I enjoyed the Monte Cristo. Nice and juicy with a good raspberry jam. Full bite. Not a thin sandwich. Suggest mixing jam first with a fork if you like to dip your sandwich like me. Served as a pre-portioned chunk. The sliver of a pickle on two pieces of wilted lettuce was a bit amusing though. I got the side salad (no picture). Very, very basic, but at least there was no rusting on the iceberg lettuce, so that is a good sign. Croutons, but some shredded carrots would have been nice. I probably wouldn't have served it with a tomato wedge that was that crunchy. My wife ordered french toast with bacon and eggs. Yes, clearly cooked fresh. If it is your style, straight up and between the uprights - basic. Syrup is maple-flavor sugar syrup. French toast lacks something that could offer flavor depth such as a little cinnamon, nutmeg, or allspice in the dredge. Bacon was plain but with cooked well. Eggs, straight from the egg with a very minimal amount of salt added up front. read more

Their huckleberry pancakes are great, and their salads are large and yummy! We've been coming here ~monthly for years and now sadly cannot anymore which is very disappointing, combined with uncharacteristically rude staff today. My wife is Celiac (severe gluten allergy with long-term damaging effects). For the past few years we have consistently been told by staff with regards to the gluten free pancakes that they are very careful and take allergies very seriously, and that they use clean utensils/surfaces to prepare (for pancakes but not for waffles, which is fair enough since you'd need to clean an iron for that). Today we were told that is not the case which has me either wondering if something has changed, or worse, there has been misinformation the whole time. Today when my wife ordered the gluten free pancakes she asked our waitress, Nessy, to make it as an allergy with clean utensils/surface, they waitress immediately informed us that "While we have gluten free food, we are not a gluten free kitchen". That was totally understandable for us - we eat in places that are not dedicated kitchens frequently and know that comes with some level of risk (as with anything in life). But my wife tried to explain to her that she understood and that she just wanted to clarify that utensils/surfaces used to cook the pancakes would be cleaned. The waitress simply repeated the same "While we have gluten free food, we are not a gluten free kitchen" - which like I said earlier didn't really answer the question. Through this whole time she seemed quite irritated with us and her tone was flat, rude and uncaring (note that my wife had been nothing but kind). I stepped in to explain very simply the question we were asking and admittedly was a bit irritated at this point with how she was treating my wife but I did no more than match her tone. She did apparently go and check with the kitchen and they confirmed that they could not clean the griddle and/or cook the pancakes on a clean surface, so we left. My takeaways/request to Terri's: 1. The way your staff treated us made us feel that the people who run Terri's think Celiac/food allergies are not important/serious, and that we were being a nuisance simply by asking (prior to me exhibiting any signs of frustration whatsoever). A simple "I'm so sorry but we actually can't accommodate that" rather than just flatly stating the same phrase about not being a dedicated kitchen would have gone a long way. 2. Logistics wise is it not possible to cook a pancake in a pan on the side? I understand why you can't clean the griddle. Anyways I know this is up to the restaurant but I would have loved to have been accommodated so we could continue coming here. 3. Celiac disease affects ~1% of our population now and is a medically understood condition. It's not just some fad of "oh I don't eat gluten because it's bad for you". I'm not sure if anyone here needs to hear that but I say it because there are people who don't understand and treat my wife as less for it (this is how Nessy made us feel regardless of intentions). 4. I will say if the part about not cleaning the pans is true I am very glad it is communicated openly. But again the delivery was lacking and the last few years have me questioning a lot (since we've been told something different for years). read more

It might not seem like much from the outside, but Terri's Cafe feels like a home away from home. The servers make you feel like you're part of their family. They take the time to get to know you and to make sure you have a good dining experience. The food WOW'd me in a way I didn't expect. Everything was made well and seasoned perfectly. It's diner/cafe food but somehow elevated. (I had the salmon omelette and it was the best I've ever had.) If you like seasonal specials, Terri's is your place. The fall favorites were amazing! We went on a Sunday morning around 10am so there was a wait time of about 45 minutes. Get there early or be prepared to wait. But Terri's Cafe is definitely worth the wait. read more

Not good.. went in with my daughter and my grandson for breakfast since this has been a past favorite spot. There were only two other couples in the restaurant.. so we asked for a booth on the side to make it easy for my grandson and so we were out of the way. There is a lady with short hair and glasses that said then we'd be a tripping hazard.. and Instead she decided to seat us at a table right behind the bar.. after putting down a paper mat to ensure the toddler didn't make a mess... the way you usually sit at a table vs a booth makes it harder for 2 people to feed the child since one is across the table.. if we were in a booth, then he could've sat at the end while we both helped him eat from either side.. not to mention the booths on the left of the restaurant have a substantial walkway between the booths and the tables.. but noooooo! So I moved my chair to the end of the table so I could reach him and help him eat... which put me in the way of the walkway just behind the bar.. she tripped on my chair.. TWICE.. and still left us there (restaurant was still pretty empty). Then when we were ordering I wanted just two pancakes.. which I also asked if they could be small (I would still pay regular price.. I just wanted to actually be able to finish it) ... somehow she added bacon and eggs (neither of which I asked for and i told her so when she brought it to the table) and huge HUGE pancakes.. Our bill ended up being far more than it would have been had she listened about not wanting bacon and eggs. $60+ dollars for two breakfasts and coffee I should have argued down the bill at checkout but at that point I was pretty fed up and ready to go. Food was not as good as it had been in the past, waitress didn't listen.. and whoever seated us was rude.. probably will not go back. read more

Granted it was a Sunday and very busy but we did get seated right away. Kimberly was really nice but very rushed. The ambiance isn't warm and cozy for sure. My daughter and I couldn't even eat the hash browns. They tasted like old grease. My daughter's egg, ordered over easy, was basically raw. They did replace it. We didn't bother telling about the hash browns because Kim was too busy. When I paid, Bailey asked how everything was. I told her and she said she was sorry. And the next time I come in remind her and she will give me a discount. Well, no worries there because there won't be a next time. This was the 2nd bad experience there and I was willing to give them another chance. Additionally, I don't appreciate being charged extra if I don't pay cash. There are too many other restaurants that have good food and don't charge extra to pay with a credit card. I'm really surprised there are so many 5 star reviews! The food was Dennys quality but WAY more expensive. We asked for eggs over medium, specifically with the whites fully cooked. we got super sloppy eggs with runny whites. The server was super cold and when we asked for a to-go container for our fruit our server brought a small one. My wife said, it might not be big enough and the server bluntly said "well that's all you're gonna get." I honestly couldn't tell if it was a joke, but at that point I was done with the place, horrible experience. Almost $60 for 2 eggs, bacon & sausage with a side of fruit x2. Simple and casual place that gets very busy. We arrived at 9 on a Saturday and sat right down but folks were waiting by the time we left. The staff is super nice and friendly and the whole place has a family run feel. The scrambled eggs were a bit disappointing. I don't like unseasoned food and these didn't get a grain of salt. I understand some of the reasons but it makes scrambled eggs a no go for me in most places. Next time I will choose a different style. The bacon, however, was excellent and perfectly cooked. The huckleberry pancakes are part awesome and part ok. The pancakes themselves seemed a bit undercooked. That is sad because the huckleberry sauce was amazing. I loved it. Strawberry waffles were another contrast. Delicious and perfectly cooked waffle but the strawberries seemed not fresh or perhaps frozen. That is fine if they were presented that way on the menu. But the theme is made from scratch. So again, a bit disappointed. I liked the place and will try again if I can get up early enough. Next time I will try the eggs Benedict and corned beef hash. We always have a great time at Terri's. We've been coming here since it was Steve's. The breakfast is awesome. Lunch is pretty good too. I love that you can order off of either menu all day long. On our most recent visit it was clear that the kitchen was under staffed. Several empty tables, but we had a 25-minute wait. But the food still came out good. Just a little longer than normal. Our waitress was attentive when she was on our side of the restaurant, but had to repeat several requests and for more drinks. Our favorites off the menu are the Monte Cristo, Taco Omelet, and Three-meat scramble. read more
