Every year in April after the MS Walk we come to the Yard House for lunch. The walk is at the park right behind the Village. This year wasn't any different. We finished our walk and made our way to the restaurant. This will be our 6th year having lunch here. Trying to keep our traditions alive. As a courtesy, we called the day before to let management know that they will be expecting a party of 20. This joint charges 30 bucks per person for reservations as a deposit. 30 bucks?!? It's quite humorous really, 30 dollar deposit is more than a majority of their meals they charge. The manager on duty last year told us to call to let them know for a heads up but not necessarily make a reservation. And of course that manager doesn't work there anymore. The manager I spoke with was a complete joke. "Saturday is our busiest day". We'll, if it's your busiest day than why aren't you properly staffed? "We can't just serve you in 2 seconds". Never have I asked to be served in 2 seconds. What kind of management team do you have running this joint? Clearly unprofessional clowns. We showed up at opening. Clearly I wasn't taken seriously since the hostess had no clue about our large party coming. No tables were set up. "You should have came at 11:30". I didn't know that we had to accommodate to the manager and his timing. He set up our tables and didn't even bother with us the whole time we were there. Food was good. I had the salmon. I had asked for my salmon to be overly cooked. With my new kidney, I can't have anything like fish and beef rare. My fish was not cooked the way I asked and had to be sent back. I expressed to the server if needed out more than well done. So honestly, I don't think the cook took my request seriously. Last year eating at the restaurant was a crap show. This year is a bigger crap show. So many better restaurants in town that don't have this ridiculous reservation fee and yet this joint does. Management here is on the same tier as a trash can. Honestly, after this last visit, we might consider going to another joint to start a new tradition. My family and our money is worth more than the disrespect management gave us. read more

We were seated in under 10 minutes at a central table, which was great because we could watch all the games. We planned to stay for a couple of hours and ring in the new year. Unfortunately, after our server took our food and drink order, she disappeared. The table next to us who arrived after we did received their drinks before us. Another server brought out our desserts, but we still had no drinks. Our server walked by and said they would be coming shortly, but they never arrived. We actually received our check before ever getting our drinks. It's too bad we didn't have the server that the table next to us had. Chose the two taco plate. Tried the Korean taco for the first time and it was just ok. Didn't win me over and wouldn't try again. Now, the fish taco on the other hand, was much better. Yard House is always pretty consistent, so you can typically count on food that comes out relatively quickly and flavors that are fun. I love Yard House and since we haven't been in over a year, we felt it was time for a visit. Even though the place was only 1/3rd full, it took a bit to be seated. The servers were rushing by our table with food and drinks constantly...they hustle! Once we were seated, it took almost 10 minutes before someone came to our table. Luckily, we were able to place our drink and lunch order and drinks appeared immediately after ordering, so that was very appreciated. I ordered the two taco combo with a Vampire carnitas taco and beer battered fish taco. Hubby had the classic cheese burger. Once our food was dropped off, we didn't see our server for 20 minutes. The vampire taco is a cheese crusted tortilla (crave worthy) with soft carnitas smothered in garlic, guacamole, bacon, salsa and sour cream. Nothing to complain about here...every bite tasted better than the next. It was fresh and a little spicy. The beer battered fish has guacamole, cabbage, sriracha aïoli, spicy salsa macha, cilantro...and the fried pollock is tender, just almost too big for the tortilla. It definitely has a kick to it, but unfortunately for me, my Diet Coke was gone and I didn't see my server until my nose was running and my food was sitting in my throat. Beans and rice are just ho-hum, I almost regretted getting a combo. Hubby loved his burger...huge, perfectly cooked and juicy patty. Tasted just like a backyard BBQ burger. Only drawback was that the cheese wasn't melted on the burger; it was odd eating cold to lukewarm cheese. The slow service and cold cheese pushed our meal from a 5 to 4, but in reality it really wasn't our server's fault. They stacked her station pretty full with large parties. It didn't look like they had the seating to server ratio right, especially with the large volume of servers working. read more

So, second time here in two months, and the first visits since we moved from SoCal in June. We came on the Tuesday after a Friday Valentine's Day to celebrate our first Idaho Valentine's Day a little later to avoid the crowds. Arriving about 5 pm, we were told that we could have a table right away or wait 20 minutes for a booth. We chose to wait. In fact, we waited about 5 minutes and scored a really nice booth, away from other people, perfect for conversation. Our server was Ariana, and she did a wonderful job of taking care of us. She was pleasant, attentive, and efficient. Of course, we had our usual: Lobster Noodles for my wife and Jambalaya for me. I had my usual House IPA and my wife had a yummy cocktail. The drinks arrived promptly and the food in a very timely way. For dessert, we shared the Brookie. What a perfect addition to the Water Street area. The place looks great, with a modern decor and great bar area. Also great outdoor seating for when it's not 100 degrees. Service was great but the food was the star. My wife loved the tacos, my niece had the giant Korean steak which was as beautiful as it was buttery soft. We are so fortunate to have YH near by. It's our go to for a date night or just to have some snacks. We've never had a poor experience at this location in Meridian. Most of the time service is above average to excellent. We usually order from the Happy Hour menu between 4 pm to 6 pm and enjoy ourselves. Had a really good cheeseburger and fries today! The server was attentive and was always there to refill my water (so appreciative bc I was sooo thirsty today!). The burger was cooked exactly how I requested (med rare), and the cheese was plenty. The fries were crispy and hot too. It was football Sunday so it was a bit crowded but service was great and it still wasn't anxiously loud inside. It's also a good location to eat and then get some shopping done afterward. Since moving over to Caldwell for college, whenever my parents come and visit, we want to find somewhere nice, quick, and with good food, and The Yard House in Meridian was perfect. It's located in the middle of a beautiful outdoor mall surrounded by shops. Inside, the restaurant gives off a late-night dinner vibe with music and TVs all around, streaming lots of programs. The seating is close together, and the lighting is dim, so I would keep that in mind when deciding to go here. It has a moderate noise level, but you can still easily hold a conversation with those at your table. We usually have a big group and have tried a lot of options on the menu and have yet to have a complaint. The portions are generous with great flavors. My family, being a big seafood-loving family, got the Poke nachos for an appetizer, and we can't go now without ordering it! Our servers are always super sweet, and don't waste time to get your order in so you can enjoy your food as soon as possible.
