Tri Tip Sandwich.
James P.

Cool idea, but disappointing. Service was super slow. We tried this place because we were in the area. 6pm on a Thursday, not super busy still had open tables. It took over 25 minutes to get a drink once we sat down and that is only because a different server saw we were sitting there for a while and realized we hadn't been served yet. Food sounded great on the menu. I ordered the tri tip sandwich. Very little meat, mostly bread and food wasn't hot. Food took forever. Wife had the chicken fried chicken. She made the better choice. People who came after us were served before us. In total we were there almost 2 hours and about $90. Not a repeat.

First time trying food from Jak*s Place.. my fiancé and I had made plans to have a lunch date at another restaurant in Nampa and also go to the movies today but our day didn't exactly go according to plan. He has been feeling sick for about a week and we thought he was getting better and that we'd be able to go out finally but he woke up this morning feeling like absolute crap :( While we decided not to go out to eat because of that, he did still want us have lunch but have it delivered or picked up. We thought about our options that are open on Sundays and we almost went a very different route for lunch but I remembered driving by this place and I looked it up to see if they were open today and they were!! I let him know that I really wanted to try food from Jak*s place and that I'd put in the online order and go pick it up after I was done with my dance class at the gym and he agreed to it. For myself I ordered the turkey cranberry feta salad with a maple balsalmic vinaigrette and a half veggie sandwich on 19 grain bread with cream cheese and cilantro lime aoli added. He decided on the BLTA no ranch, substitute mayo and a side of chili cheese fries. I arrived a few minutes after the time I put in for the pickup order and it wasn't quite ready yet as the restaurant was pretty busy but I'd say approx 5-8 min later it was done and handed to me. We ate as soon as I got home and OMG, I know we just ordered sandwiches, salad and fries -nothing too fancy and kind of standard for lunch time fare-but we were blown away by how good everything actually tasted! The reviews are pretty mixed on here but some people aren't giving quite enough credit to them where credit is due because the food is VERY good. Not only would I absolutely get lunch here again, if the chef is reading this I just want to say... You're a wizard Harry!! Seriously, all our food tasted absolutely fresh and delicious. What's more is that both the sandwich and salad I got have red peppers and while I know alot of people enjoy red bell peppers, that's my least favorite of the bell peppers but they tasted absolutely divine in these menu items and I ate them all up ! I'm so glad I thought of Jak*s and I would highly recommend checking them out for lunch !

I'm visiting from out of town and stopped by. Great atmosphere and excellent food. The staff is courteous and sociable. The happy hour specials are inexpensive and huge portions. Definitely worth the stop in and grab a drink with friends.

Came across this place recently, and we absolutely loved it! Staff were all very friendly, and had a great atmosphere. Onion rings are huge, and their batter is great. The sandwiches we ordered were amazing too (tri-tip melt & the Italian melt) Definitely recommend.

We live in Star and love coming here for the Onion Rings and the Zucchini Fries. The staff is wonderful and pleasant. It's a bar and grill and if you were looking for at it from the outside you would never know it's a great place to eat. Sometimes there can be a wait, but be patient as it's worth it. I would say to sprinkle some Parmesan cheese a top the zucchini fries and BAM it's a winner winner, not that it's not already. Just that little special touch to the zucchini.

Decor is pretty good, industrial style as many new places are these days. This just means it is fairly noisy, as there is nothing to absorb any sound. There is an outdoor patio for warmer temps. They have high and regular tables. There are plenty of beers, wines and cocktails on the menu. The service was good. I had been here before and walked right out as people were leaving from having to wait too long for a server to even come to the tables. The squeeze and I split the Reuben samminch. We upped it with onion rings for an extra $2. They did not charge for separate plates which was nice. There was plenty of meat in there, along with sauerkraut and dressing. A very good Reuben and it was more than adequate splitting one, as the bread slices are large. We also got a petite salad each. The jalapeño cream cheese cilantro-lime aioli dressing was great and had a little bite to it. All in all a decent meal.

The entrance to this place is a door between Paddle Up Poké and Antlers Boutique. Once you enter, you go down a set of stairs into a very trendy and clean speakeasy known as, yep, you guessed it, The Sick Stag. This place has quite eclectic decor, taxidermy, and cave-like booths that really separate you from others. This place is perfect for a date with your special someone, a fun night out with friends, or even as part of a bachelor or bachelorette celebration. The staff here are super friendly and helpful. They even have mocktail options and can likely make most drinks non-alcoholic, keeping it fun for those looking to refrain from alcohol. Their appetizers are also really good! Their prices are also fair and not to ridiculous which is amazing. Be sure to make a reservation, especially if you are planning to go on a weekend. Overall, I highly recommend this hidden gem in the middle of downtown Nampa! They even have clean bathrooms!

Meridian has the village for fancy shit Nampa has the Sick Stag. Every city has its fancy elevated cocktail place. You just gotta know where to look for it. Not to mention this place has amazing music to add the sexy ambience. As a former DJ, I really appreciate this.

(Honestly, 10 stars if I could!)…read more I recently hosted a first-time homebuyers class at The Syringa and it was absolutely perfect. The space was ideal for a small group -- cozy, welcoming, and the ambience made everyone feel comfortable and engaged. My attendees were attentive, relaxed, and genuinely enjoyed being there, which says a lot about the environment. I also come here regularly for morning business meetings, and it never disappoints. Great coffee, beautiful space, and a calm energy that makes it easy to connect and get work done. What really sets The Syringa apart though is how community-driven they are. As someone who loves supporting local Nampa businesses, this place checks every box. The staff is incredibly kind, welcoming, and thoughtful -- you can tell they truly care about the people who walk through their doors. Highly recommend for meetings, events, or just a great cup of coffee. So grateful to have a place like this in our community!

I stated that the American Disabilities Act explicitly allows me to have my Service Dog with me wherever I go. After several attempts to make me leave, police were called and stated the owner requested I leave which I did. No grace, no compassion! They banned me for a year!!! Within seconds, I received a text that my order had been received, but not confirmed, and to watch for a confirmation text. After 30 minutes, I still had not received a confirmation text, so I messaged asking for an approximate time. The reply stated they were "slammed" and that my order would be ready in about 30 minutes. After another 45 minutes, I still had not received any communication from them, so I decided to walk over to check on my order, hoping that it would be ready. The first thing I noticed was that there were not a lot of customers inside. I informed the server behind the bar that I was there to pick up my order, and she went back to check. When she returned, she told me that there were no pickup orders. I showed her the email with my order number and told her that I never received a confirmation from them. She went back into the kitchen, then came back and said they didn't have my order, but could make it while I waited - about 10 minutes. I reluctantly agreed and waited. When I got my order, I asked for a few extra cups of sauce. The server was put off, as if asked to perform an overwhelming task. Needless to say, I left the establishment with a less-than-favorable taste in my mouth. 24 hours later, I received a text from them that my order was confirmed and would be ready to be picked up. I texted back that this was 24 hours late and to cancel the order. The reply was that their texting service was unavailable, and to call for questions. I then replied to the confirmation email, hoping that would get through to them. No such luck. The reply I received said that delivery had failed - that their email box was full. I will say that the food was good, and that the server was mainly friendly. However, the whole online ordering system needs some serious revamping. I hope that Whiskey River will take this review as constructive criticism so that future customers will have an easier, smoother online ordering experience.
