I went for Easter brunch with my kids and my in-laws. When I tried to order a nonalcoholic wine, I was asked for my ID. I didn't have it with me, so I wasn't able to get one. I understand policies need to be followed, so I wasn't upset, but I was surprised that no one else at the table was carded, even though others were ordering alcoholic drinks. For context, I'm 37, so it just felt a bit inconsistent. Unfortunately, the service overall didn't improve from there. Our food took over an hour to arrive, and by that point my 4 year old was starving. I felt terrible, but there wasn't much we could do except wait. The food itself was decent, but there were a few letdowns. My husband ordered a breakfast chimichanga and was told it would be large, but it ended up being a pretty standard burrito size. On top of everything, our server didn't acknowledge or apologize for the long wait, which added to the frustration. As much as I love Coyne's happy hour, especially the curry lettuce wraps, dinner was just average. I liked the clever name of my mocktail more than the drink itself--"Where did my mango." Husband's garlic tenderloin didn't have the garlic flavor he expected. My pesto sandwich was tasty, but upgraded Caesar salad had very stale croutons (matching the rock hard rolls). Our meal picked up a bit with huckleberry cheesecake, though crust was soggy. We hit up Coyne's for my sister's and cousin's birthday tonight. They were the only ones that can cater 18 people on a Sunday. That sounds perfect to me! I appreciate that they had a nice amount of tables set up for us! Nothing like being crammed with a big group. We had plenty of space and arm room. Fresh rolls were placed on each end of the table for us! Of course they were being devoured. The rolls were crusty on the outside and soft in the middle. And watch out Texas Roadhouse, the butter here was mind blowing! It was sweet and creamy. The bread was the perfect vessel for that butter! All I want is that butter with 1 roll please! My family found Coynes a couple years ago and we've been going consistently ever since. It's the sister restaurant to Bardenay, and I'd argue Coynes feels like the elevated version. Service has always been very good. The bar turns out unique, well-crafted drinks, and the wine list is solid. The space is comfortable inside, and the patio is a big plus -- fully covered, enclosed, and heated in winter so you can use it year-round. The food is where Coynes really shines. We had another waiter come by our table to see if we were ready to order but the initial battle ax waitress we had told him to go serve another table. I went with the ribeye served with mashed potatoes and broccolini. The steak was cooked a bit more than I asked for, but still flavorful and satisfying. Service was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant itself is clean and modern. I had hoped to try the chicken gumbo appetizer, but the kitchen was out that evening. Coyne's has been on my must try list for quite a while. Finally for my daughter's graduation, we decided to book a reservation for a small dinner party. We had high hopes and generally were happy with the visit. The ambience was perfect. It's definitely a little fancier, but still casual enough for regular dining. Making a reservation was very easy to do online, but because our party was bigger than six I needed to call in this reservation. That was also a very easy process. I really like that they confirm the reservation via text. Upon arrival we were seated immediately although we were about 10 minutes early. Our table for seven just had a chair added to the end of a six person table. It would've been nicer to have an eight person table then to squeeze the seventh person on the end, but we made it work. Now onto the food...We ordered -the sea bass - I did not try it, but it got high reviews from my father-in-law -fish and chips - my son liked it, but left all the fries -Wagyu taco salad - this was my order and it was blah... The salad and dressing was nothing to rave about and the Wagyu beef was the best thing about it. -scallops and a side of mashed potatoes - the scallops were fabulous and the corn cakes that they sat upon were yummy but the mashed potatoes were dry and tasteless. - chicken dinner - the chicken was cooked to perfection but the sides were just blah. - pesto chicken sandwich - not much to it, my 12-year-old didn't even eat ate half and tried to give away the rest. It was pretty bland. -falafel sandwich- this was pretty good and the sauce that they served it with it was tasty. Overall, we were happy with the celebratory meal as the consensus of the group was that the food was good. As the main decider of where I will take guests for dining, I don't know if I would be back. Great food and amazing service! Food: 5/5. We started with the guacamole, which was great and came with some potato wedges. It was a fun twist on chips and guac and seemed to fit the theme of the restaurant well. My husband got the mole braised short ribs which was absolutely phenomenal! I'm not usually a fish person, but I ordered the pesto sea bass after seeing photos and reading some reviews. I was not disappointed! It was melt-in-your-mouth good and I was delighted to have leftovers for lunch the next day. We took the espresso torte to go, which did not really test espresso to me and is probably better eating in the restaurant. Service: 5/5. Ryan was our server and he was fantastic! Very attentive, friendly, and was sure to check in often, but not overwhelming. We also got our drinks and food relatively quick. Atmosphere: 5/5. Definitely a place you would expect to find in Eagle. I thought the atmosphere was great and a good vibe. A good amount of parking and a beautiful patio that I am sure is a hit in warmer weather. Went to have some dinner and drinks at the bar. Unfortunately, we were unable to be waited on by the bartender we had built a rapport with in the bar area?? Weird as we had been served by bartenders many times before. Dinner was fine and service was serviceable, however it changed our evenings ambiance to an awkwardness. Disappointed- we come often for happy hour and always have a great experience. My wife and I visited recently for dinner. We shared a poke appetizer, wedge salad and mole short ribs. We just got our appetizer and were enjoying it for about two minutes when all of our food came out. We sent it back - we arrived at about 6:05 and received our food by 6:25. We asked that we enjoy our appetizer and then get a fresh salad and entree. It was obvious that they both sat in the window as the lettuce was wilted and inedible and the meat was scorching hot. I'm providing an update to my previous five star experience at Coyne's. Make no mistake, Coyne's is still our go to favorite spot, but I have to share a recent experience which they handled beautifully. We recently celebrated our three teenagers' birthday there with about eight people in our party. I'll just summarize by saying that a medium rare burger came out well done, as it has in the past on a couple of occasions, a biscuits and gravy order came out rockhard and warm, not hot. My order, the Piri piri chicken eggs Benedict, which did not come out correct but they fixed it and here's what I want to share. The server took our order and explained that there was no rice for my request for the Poké bowl. That was extremely odd to me since rice is a staple in many parts of the world and you could simply go down the street to a local grocery store and pick up a bag of rice and cook it in 20 minutes. Not sure what's happening there but that was a shocker for me. I figured maybe the seafood was bad or something. But we ordered our food. It came out and we got what we got as I explained. However, the person with the overcooked burger decided not to exchange it but instead proceeded to enjoy their meal, so that was not a major issue, but the restaurant offered to make it right. That's a great thing. The biscuits and gravy issue was fixed with an extra portion of piping hot gravy, which satisfied that member of our party. I cut into my "poached eggs" and they were hard boiled. I wasn't going to say anything, but I decided to accept the offer by the server to provide new poached eggs. The eggs came out perfect. I simply slid the overcooked eggs to the side onto another plate and the new poached eggs, with hollandaise sauce, came out with it and it was all an amazing meal. I highly recommend the piri piri chicken eggs Benedict. The chicken was delicious and moist, The potatoes that I had while waiting for the eggs were delicious, and with the new poached eggs, my breakfast was fantastic. Now, why do I say all this? It seems like technically I should've given this two stars and maybe for some that's the correct action. But for me, having had a restaurant, how they chose to fix this was superb. People need to understand that every business has problems, every single business today, It's how you handle those problems that determines the outcome. I wish the food would've come out perfect the first time, but it didn't. Somebody there in leadership taught those servers and staff to do whatever they can to fix it, that is five star service. My previous rating was a five star service But this time I was forced to subtract one because of the numerous misses and the rice. Overall, it's still our go to place. I highly recommend coins and know that there will be mistakes in the future, but that I am assured that they'll be remedied. Another five star experience. This time it was takeout so just five star on the food. Just my steak wrong by the looks but when I bit into it, the steak was very juicy and tender. Could've been seasoned a tad bit more but I understand Tobias you could always add salt, but you can't really take it away. The risotto was amazing. Very flavorful. Added Parmesan this time and I think that did it. The only letdown was the asparagus . The asparagus didn't taste necessarily bad, but I imagine that they just steamed it in some water and typically asparagus should be cooked with a little bit of butter and maybe a little bit of salt just for that nice savory Unami taste . I had a pick up order arranged for a certain time and it was right on time and it was hot . Either way I really enjoy this place and so far it has been a hit every time. Highly recommend the Simply Vanilla Margarita. The rolls also appeared quickly. They were warm and soft on the inside, but the outside was a little hard. Also, not everyone likes sweetened butter. 3 of us ordered the special 'Shrimp Pappardelle', 1 order of the special 'Shrimp, Scallop Gnocchi', 1 order of Rib Eye and 1 'French Onion' Hamburger. Only 2 of our group finished their food. The shrimp pappardelle was very dry and we ordered more sauce, but it came out 15 minutes later and was very runny. The Rib Eye had 0 seasoning and for some reason it was topped off with tartar sauce. The Gnocchi and Hamburger were good. The pot pie was initially good, but got too savory after a few bites. I guess this is their creative take on biscuits and gravy. I wished there were chunks of chicken in the gravy similarly to how there would typically be sausage chunks in regular biscuits and gravy. The steak was really good, and potatoes were good too. My husband really liked the sopes, although I didn't t try it. We both ate the gingersnap pancakes which is probably the highlight of our brunch. Celebrated the Anniversary at one of our favorite places on Saint Patrick's Day. It was really hard for me not to get my regular Butlers Steak Risotto. That dish is so freaking good! The way they marriage the flavors of the dish makes me want to celebrate my anniversary once a week. Our waitress informed us that there was one special left. So if we wanted it we need to let her know asap. I took the bait and went with the special which was their take on corned beef and cabbage. I mean, it was Saint Patrick's Day and all. It was a bold decision that paid off. The portion was so large that I parlayed my leftovers into some bomb hash the next morning. We love Coynes and have never had a bad experience in all of the times that we've dined there. If you've never been I highly recommend it. Giving a 4-star rating as our dinner was exceptional!!! However, our Waiter, who is listed as 'Server C' on our bill, never provided his name, was extremely rude and discourteous. He also listed Guest Count as 2 on our bill, when there was 3, wondering if he did this so when a bad review comes back, it would not be tracked back to him. Any questions we asked about the menu, were answered in a very curt and discourteous manner. We have always had exceptional service at Coyne's so this was surprising to get someone who was so unprofessional and had poor customer service skills.
