Came for brunch without a reservation. There were two people greeting at the door and it just seemed a little awkward getting seated. Say at a comfortable table. Got water in nice heavy glasses but the tap water tasted very strange and strong. Seems like a pretty good menu. We got the fried chicken biscuit sandwich and also an order of mushroom toast. The biscuit overall was tasty but the fried chicken was really pretty salty and not otherwise seasoned. The mushroom toast came out cold and not much flavor. We got two coffees. We are new fans of Stardust. How have we not been here earlier?! Delicious, and playful cocktails included the Pan Am and Tricky Ricky, mixed with love by Tavis. Shared a yummy beet and burrata salad. My airline chicken was a sky high favorite. I haven't eaten every bite of a meal in a while and I polished that whole thing off. Good portion. Husband loved his oysters and duck à l'orange. Dessert? Our terrific server, James, recommended the cheesecake with fresh berries. Good choice! We'll be back. Four Seasons level-quality eggs benedict. 2. Best steak and eggs. Anybody ever had wagyu beef for their "steak and eggs"? Me neither. Get it medium rare. So tender! You won't be disappointed. Breakfast potatoes, twice fried (?) with magic probably; their biscuit, layered like a croissant, star-shaped. Perfectly cooked over-medium eggs. Ugh, dear god, thank you! Sorry didn't get a pic of the steak and eggs; I ate it, too fast for the camera. Certainly Michelin-level quality here at decent prices, with nice-sized portions, not frou-frou, and I have yet to find another restaurant in Boise at this quality. Would give it a 3.5 if I could! The dinner experience was good - nothing horrible nor spectacular. We really wanted to visit for brunch (menu looked great) but couldn't find time, so we settled for dinner. We got the salmon, steak frites, and artichoke fondue. The salmon was pretty good but the vegetable was very salty (like someone accidentally poured the salt by mistake). Steak was slightly too rare when asked for medium rare and the fries were soggy, which came with some sauce poured on it. Maybe sauce on the side would be a better alternative? The fondue and crispy bread was good though. We were sat in a room with a big party table. From the way the room was built, sound carries far... so the dinner experience was loud I tell you. Not great for date night. The restaurant was empty when we arrived... it would have been nice to be sat away from a big party. However, service was good. Overall, the vibe is slightly upscale. Prices are on the higher end for dinner. I probably wouldn't come back for dinner, but I would like to try their brunch menu in the future! read more

I come up to Boise once a month. This is my first time here for brunch. It was great. I went Thursday and Saturday morning. Outdoor seating is my thing, but if you like indoor or sitting at the bar the vibe/ambience is fabulous. Very elegant & classy atmosphere to be in especially for the price. Both times I went this weekend, the service, food, and drinks were great. Saturday morning Joseph helped me out and he was a fantastic server. I've enjoyed Stardust a few different times whether it was for brunch, lunch or the latest, which was happy hour. I particularly like their classic cocktails and my date and I enjoyed the fried saltines and a lobster roll, which was buttery and absolutely delicious! You can't go wrong with a Cosmo and an old-fashioned and the retro inspired ambience always fits the mood! This was probably the best brunch experience of my life. Beautiful space, very accommodating and friendly staff, and the most deliciously and articulately made food. It was such a treat to be there to celebrate our daughter's milestone there! The four of ordered the following: Chicken & Waffle, Griddled Banana Bread, Croque Madame, Smoked Salmon Benedict, and the Lobster Roll. Everything was delicious, but the overall favorite, hands down, was the Smoked Salmon Benedict (my choice, and I will have it again!). I can't imagine how lovely it would be to have dinner here. It's definitely a good choice for a date night. It's not a huge restaurant, so I think it would be relatively quiet, like it was for us. In other words, you don't have to yell to have a conversation. It's tastefully designed too. I will say the food is a bit pricey, but not over the top for the upscale dining and elevated food. Oh, and I also recommend the Espresso Martini, but I'll probably go back to try the Jungle Bird. :) I can't wait to go back and try some of the other dishes too....especially their dinner menu! read more

We came with friends who have seen this location turn over a few times, so we thought we'd drop in on a Saturday night to see what Stardust had to offer. We made a reservation, but it wasn't really necessary, 6:30 p.m. on a Saturday, and the place was nearly empty. We started at the bar for cocktails. The martinis and bourbon were served in nice glassware, and the bartender was friendly. From there, we moved to the lounge area in the front, drawn in by the cushy chairs and the window view of the street. However, we were quickly warned not to block a door leading to the patio due to fire regulations. Despite being the only guests in the place, about 15 minutes later, a less-than-friendly staff member reprimanded us about our chair placement. I had only slightly turned mine to better face the group, but their approach felt unnecessarily harsh. I moved the chair back, but the interaction left a bad taste. Why is all this furniture placed in a fire exit area anyway?? The interior has a retro vibe, but yet it felt to me a bit cold and stark, lacking the warmth you'd expect at the price point. On to dinner. I had the steak frites, and while the steak was cooked well, the fries were soaked in meat juices and soggy. A simple sidecar or divider on the plate would have solved this issue. My wife had the salmon Wellington, which seemed to fit the theme, this is definitely a "Wellington" kind of place. One friend had the retro-inspired airline chicken, while the other had a chicken pot pie topped with puff pastry instead of the usual crust. He said it was good. Service was solid, and the food was generally good, but the pricing felt high for the overall experience. Most entrees ranged from $40 to $50, with some reaching $75 a plate, and there were few lower-priced options. When you're paying a premium, you expect both quality food and a quality atmosphere, and Stardust doesn't quite hit that balance for me. The nearly empty dining room on a Saturday night might speak for itself? I'll let you decide. I gave 4 Stars this visit, but almost gave a 3 for "OK". read more

We've now been here twice, and this review is mixed because the food and frontline staff are excellent, but leadership behavior left us feeling unwelcome. On Christmas Eve, we dined with our infant. The host was wonderful, our server Ken was fantastic, and the food was truly 10/10. That visit alone would have earned a glowing review. However, during that meal, the manager on duty appeared visibly irritated that we had a baby with us. We brushed it off and focused on the great experience otherwise. We returned another day for lunch with just my wife; planning to sit at the bar. There were open seats, but one chair had a purse on it that didn't seem to belong to anyone actively sitting there. I politely asked if it belonged to the bartender so we could sit together. The host kindly checked with the manager, who was seated nearby. The manager responded by scowling at us, giving the host a dismissive look, refusing to speak, and silently nodding her head "yes" to moving the purse. The interaction was uncomfortable and made us feel completely unwelcome. As someone who has opened multiple restaurants, I can confidently say this is not how you treat your staff or your guests. Personal items don't belong on bar seats, and guests shouldn't feel like an inconvenience for asking to sit together. To be clear: the hosts, bartenders, servers, and food were all excellent. We visit Stardust often and are never disappointed. The drinks and food, and service are great. It has a fun, kind of midcentury design and feel to it. Brunch is my favorite--so many flavor-filled choices and the preparation is amazing. The biscuits and gravy are great. No meat but awesome flavor. I also liked the Baked Cavatappi and Cheese--I got it with bacon. Chicken and waffles are yummy too as are many of the other choices. And if you like dessert, the chocolate mousse is something that will bring you back. They also have a nice selection of wine and drink choices. We love everyone who works there and the service is great. I came to have dinner tonight with my family around 6pm. We expected based on the reviews to see a full restaurant but we're pleasantly surprised to see only a few tables occupied. When we asked to be seated for a family of 5, we were told the wait would be over an hour to one and a half hours. Surprised I asked if they were seating both sides of the establishment as their larger dinning room had one couple sitting there and over 6 four top or greater tables. When I asked I was promptly told they were, "fully committed." Surprised we left. I am not unaware that possible reservations at that time could create the appearance of availability while there was in fact no available tables. I then pulled up their reservation system to check on their system for the next 5 person availability to find multiple available times for 5 tops all within the next 30 minutes. I then called back to speak to a manager about what I assumed must have been a mistake. When I asked for a manager, the person who picked up (sounded similar to the curt receptionist we had previously encountered) asked what we needed, I informed them it concerned reservations, to which they replied they could help me. Just Got off the phone with one of their managers who decided to call me and inform me I was mistaken and that the food was in fact not greasy but just tossed in some sort of sauce. And I am apparently in the wrong for not being amused at the the lacking communication. Very snotty tone and not really one for listening. The saying is that the customer is always right in terms of taste (that's the full quote) and when it comes to this place? Definitely not leaving a good taste in my mouth. Came here for brunch on a gift card, thankful that I was on a gift card as if I had been spending my own money I would have been irate. Service was incredibly slow and inattentive. Food itself was forgettable at best. A few key notes: Ordered the mushroom toast with sausage The sausage was delivered to our table several minutes after we had received the mushroom toast. Was charged $6 for a small side of gravy to accompany my steak and egg breakfast, the potatoes with this were greasy and bland aside from an overpowering taste reminiscent of mint with no salt shakers or pepper available on the table. Biscuit itself was also very dry and barely ate two bites of it. Wife had to ask several times to receive sugar for her coffee. Main dining room is also incredibly loud. To owner of this business: I appreciate your reply and would have been more than happy to discuss it with someone who actually wanted to speak with me rather than rudely interrupt me. Went here for Mother's Day brunch 2024. It seemed like they were having some challenges with staffing. The food was still amazing, just took a little longer than expected. The owner called me back later in the week based upon the phone # from my reservation. This would not have been a problem had she not been extremely rude with communication and disrespectful to our entire party. We gave the restaurant another chance on a separate visit, returning just the two of us to sit at the bar. When we politely asked if a bar seat being held by the manager's personal purse could be freed so we could sit together, the manager responded by scowling at us, avoiding eye contact, refusing to speak, and silently gesturing "yes." The interaction was uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Rather than acknowledging how that interaction came across, the owner responded to our review by calling it "strange" and dismissing the experience entirely, reframing events in a way that did not match what occurred. At no point was the issue about hearing or availability of seating - it was about demeanor, professionalism, and how guests and staff were treated in a public-facing role. The food and frontline staff were excellent, which makes this even more disappointing. Unfortunately, the response from ownership confirmed that this is a leadership issue, not a misunderstanding. I love the menu and the staff is friendly. I love the downtown location. I wish I could say I loved my food. The chips and dip was where we began. The chips are heavily salted. Heavily salted. Wow. And the dip was tasty but the portion was too small even for the most conservative dipper. I would pass on this next time. The Airplane chicken got our hopes high. But on tasting it we discovered bland chicken. That was quite dry. The potatoes, however, were excellent. Fluffy on the inside and rich with butter. Delicious. The steak fries was very good. The steak was cooked perfectly and the fries were excellent. They weren't the showstopper that the griddle potatoes were but they were excellent. I want to like this place much more than I did. It seems rather hit and miss but with great potential. I might try it again down the road and I hope they can develop some consistency. One day in the future this place could be quite remarkable.
