Great dinner, great brunch! Good service in a semi formal setting. Phenomenal wine list as well.

My husband and I really wanted to like this place! The setting is wonderful and the ambience is really nice. We had breakfast there this morning and it was just OK. We both got the traditional eggs Benedict... and I ate maybe 15% of my breakfast and just stopped. My husband ate all of his... but mostly because he was just hungry... Much like our Labrador who will eat absolutely anything! Haha. But he said it was only OK. He rated it a 5/10. What he disliked the most was the potatoes. They were fairly hard/tough and tasted like they were fried in old oil and sitting under heat lamps for two hours before we got them. They were very dehydrated as well. For me... The hollandaise sauce was fresh, but had no flavor. It needed more lemon or salt or something. The ham was odd... I'm a little too salty. It seemed like Hillshire Farms sliced ham. Not something you would expect at a nice restaurant in your eggs Benedict. Also, I ordered an Arnold Palmer... And it was so sour that I had to send it back. I poured like a heaping teaspoon of sugar into it, and it didn't even make a difference.... It was that sour. It actually started to make my stomach hurt a little. So I sent it back. And the waitress was very nice, and didn't charge me for it. The service was good... But they cram everyone in there on one side of the restaurant... at least outside. I have no idea why... They have all this space in front of their restaurant and yet they try and cram everybody right next to each other. It was very annoying, and made me just wanna leave. They have many tables on the other side like 10 feet away... But they insisted on cramming everybody into the same small area. And you could tell nobody wanted to be that close to one another. I'm not sure if they do this to make it easier for their servers... Or to make the restaurant look busy. Either way, it's a practice that they really should stop. My advice to the restaurant... Utilize your space outside in front, stop cramming people so close together. When you have to get up and move your chair so someone can get to their table... it's ridiculous! On a positive note... Their coffee was actually really good! Some of the best that we've had in a restaurant in many many years. And I know, I mentioned it above, but I should mention it again... The weight staff was wonderful. From the girl who greeted us at the front podium, to our waitress, and the waitressing training. Everyone was wonderful. So, to end this review... I can only comment on the breakfast. We didn't have anything else there, and maybe it will be good... But I'm not sure if I'm willing to give this place another try. Good luck! read more

Wanted to try this place out because the restaurant next to it is super nice. The ambiance feels classy and the staff are helpful. It felt really cozy as well. By the looks of it my expectations were up there but as we got our food it was disappointing :( We ordered the calamari, meatballs, fries and "KFC" which was breaded cauliflower. Besides the meatballs which were also on the okay side, the food was overly greasy and either too cooked or not cooked enough. The fries were super deep fried and the oil they used to cook them tasted old. The calamari was not fried enough because the texture was rubbery and it tasted oddly fishy, like the smell of uncooked fish - very hard to eat and I really like calamari. The KFC meal item was good, more in the healthy side which I liked. Meatballs were also good but they're supposed to be lamb meatballs and I didn't even taste the lamb, the sauce was the star of the dish. Overall, the ambiance was great and so were the staff but the food not so good. Bill with tip was 80ish bucks for food that wasn't that good. read more

On a road trip we stopped and visited family. Nice place great looking inside. The server was prompt as we were a large group. Food I had the: KFC $9 breaded cauliflower florets, gochujang bbq sauce, black & white sesame. This was to die for and I should have placed two or three order of this!! It was perfect and quite the surprise. It needs a better description on the menu. I let my family sample and I know everyone would have ordered one if they know what to expect. I also had: Shaved Brussels Salad $11.50 brussels sprouts, golden raisins, almonds, parmesan reggiano, champagne vinaigrette. This was terrible!! I felt like my horse. The waitstaff was great- super friendly, great with kids, and patient! With a baby, it's a slow process to order and finish a meal. I didn't feel rushed during any part of the process. The food was fresh, and of obvious quality. I ordered the classic poutine and I really enjoyed the fresh cheese curds. The burger and fries from the kids meal was as big as an adult meal! We caught a weekend brunch here, and we are so glad we went. We had limited days in town, and my wife had this as her #1 researched brunch place pre-trip. Fiona was our bartender, and we were her first bar customers. She greeted us with high energy, and her service was spotless for our visit. The food and drink ended up being fantastic too, but she really put the exclamation point on our visit overall. I kept it simple with beer, but my wife had two excellent cocktails while there. I admittedly neglected to write down the exact name of them, but my notes say they were a lavender tea drink and an herby Cosmopolitan. Just ask Fiona or whoever is behind the bar when you go. They will lead you the correct way. Picture of one is below. Anyway, I had the short rib hash and the wife had the eggs in purgatory, and both were incredible. The atmosphere was really unique. It was a cool brunch or nice any-meal place, but you could also tell it might get pretty fun at night. The wine cellar was so cool, and we asked to go check it out. Really cool area. We went there for dinner on a Sunday. It was a rather slow evening so the service was super quick and the employees were very pleasant. The food/drinks ...uhm we had a couple appetizers, dinner, a couple of desserts and a couple of Palomas. Though it wasn't the tastiest, it wasn't bad.it wasn't loud so we could hear each other speaking. They had the option to sit inside or sit outside. We were looking for a lunch place with outside seating, and this restaurant seemed to fit the bill. After walking in, two hostesses explained where we could sit. My wife had the Huevos Rancheros, which she said were only luke warm, and the cheese inside was not melted all the way and rubbery. I had the Egg White Frittata with cherry tomatoes, arugula, mozzarella, oyster mushrooms in a balsamic reduction, and basil oil. Brunch at Red Feather Lounge did not disappoint I had the Rancheros Verdes and it was amazing, just the right amount of spice, and the locally sourced seared cheese curds totally stole the show for me, I was obsessed. The pork was tender and packed with flavor. Paired it with the Venetian Mimosa, which was light, refreshing, and such a perfect brunch drink. I also tried the house-made buttermilk biscuits; a little dense for my taste, but the flavor was good and the house made strawberry jam they serve with them was sooo good it made up for it. It was busy on a Sunday morning and a reservation is recommended but the staff was wonderful and attentive, thank you to Caroline for a great experience. Have been to RF Lounge at least a dozen times PRIOR to the Covid nightmare...don't know what happened to them during that period but I was under the impression they were either closed or had very strange hours...MOVING ON... This is a go-to place after a day in downtown Boise...terribly small (two thumbs up!!) but deliciously intimate whether you sit at the bar or in a booth... The staff is BEYOND friendly, polite and knowledgeable...drinks are amazing! Don't try to duplicate your drink at home...you'll never be able to find Cornish Clotted Creme Gin anywhere, but ingredients like this are commonplace at Red Feather...and they are used to make unbelievably fantastic drinks. Don't know what you'd like or the menu is confusing? Simply ask the bartender for something along the lines of one of your favorite drinks...rest assured, something special will shortly come your way! Red Feather is Back! This was always our go to local place...and then they had some trouble with keeping a consistent chef, menu and staff so and stayed away for a while. We decided to give it another try and had an excellent meal (trout, chicken, steak salad, and salmon) all were delicious and prepared simply and not over salted and over sauced - like many restaurants in town. The true flavors are enhanced by the preparation and choice of complementing side dishes-amazing leeks with the salmon! Then, to my surprise, the baby carrots and chickpeas had great flavor! I never would have picked that but they were a great appetizer. Went for Saturday brunch. The place feels like a hip bar and the bar pours a mean Bloody Mary. . We started with coffee and friands or whatever they are calling them. The perfect bite to go with coffee in my opinion. We then had an assortment of dishes including waffle, eggs Benedict, and a traditional fried egg breakfast. The food was excellent and enjoyed by all. The service was friendly and I give high marks for all of that. The seating area noise however is poorly planned and you end up on top of people. And the noise was intense and jarring with one patron who made me literally shake with her laughs in conversation. A couple very loud people, a typical loud bar environment and the tables poorly planned and on top of each other tainted what was an otherwise excellent brunch. read more

This was my second visit to Red Feather, and it was absolutely fabulous. My roommates and I came here on a Sunday for brunch. We arrived in the 11am hour, and there were no walk-in tables available (aside from the bar). We put our names on the waitlist and popped over to the District for a cup of coffee. After 30ish minutes, we got a text alert that our table was ready. We walked back over to the restaurant and were sat at a lovely table right next to the window. Our server was so friendly and quick to help me decide between the brisket hash and huevos rancheros. I went with his suggestion and ordered ruevos Rancheros - this was lovely! The pork was cooked in a savory chile verde sauce, served over a bed of black beans. Atop it all was corn tortillas, two eggs sunny-side up, and salsa. I highly recommend this dish, it's what Sunday brunch dreams are made of! read more

What a treat! Brunch was wonderful. Make a reservation because this place was packed! We were quickly taken to our upstairs table. The glass cube wine display with the spiral staircase is so cool! The brunch menu is super fun with lots of options. Order the LARGE mimosa to share! Well worth the $12. I went with the huevos rancheros. SO YUM! A full layer of grilling cheese! The salsa had the perfect amount of spice, and the eggs were cooked perfect. We also wanted to try the beignets with butterscotch because- YUM! Our server Luke, smartly suggested we enjoy them as dessert after the meal. Perfect touch. Our "Fancy, french, fried donuts" (as Luke called them) were the perfect way to end our meal. In town for the weekend and we were able to sneak out for a nice dinner at Red Feather Lounge. The ambiance was really fun and the service was fast and friendly. The food was excellent! We ordered the Romensco Cauliflower which was delicious and luxurious. We also had the lamb empanadas which were full of flavor and the preserved lemon was a pop of brightness I didn't see coming. Lastly we shared the duck breast which was masterfully cooked on top of delightfully roasted Brussels and a smooth root purée. Really delicious! read more

With apologies to Rodgers and Hart. "We'll take Manhattans, New twist Old Fashioneds, Housemade Eggnog too, It's lovely sipping through Red Feather's menu." OK. I'll stop. But a timely tip to say the Eggnog with Buffalo Trace bourbon and a kiss of fresh grated nutmeg is a treat with a true limited time offer as it is likely to come off the menu after New Year. It was worth every calorie of indulgence and may be the best eggnog I have ever enjoyed. All cocktails here are luscious. These are skilled mixologists at work. The drinks menu has both new twists on old favorites as well as completely new combinations and drinks are listed on the extensive menu in order of light to dark. There is a lot to like here outside of the beverages. This is not just a bar with food. This is a restaurant with delicious food that also serves cocktails and wine. It has advantages that its' sister enterprise of Bittercreek, right next door, does not. The Achilles here may be service. VIBE The space is small and tight but somehow they have avoided the gawdawful noise levels and cheek to cheek (as in south cheeks) crowding of Bittecreek. The music is a good, unusual mix that fits the space and while it is at an assertive level is not the overwhelming level of Bittercreek. There is a two story lighted wine cellar display offset by wood tables and a casual feel that is just a little sophisticated too. One is at home here in jeans but one could also feel this is date night setting. There are low tables and high stool seating both on the first floor and more tables and chairs up a steep flight of stairs. SERVICE I wouldn't say this is "all people are welcome" vibe as our host and servers while cordial did seem a bit unsure of us given we are likely outside the usual demographic. Follow up was minimal. But "nolo timere Boomers" is my motto. We old people who remember exactly where we were on November 22, 1963 eat and drink too! EATS Red Feather shares a kitchen and menu with Bittercreek Alehouse until 5:00 so you'll find delicious food using locally sourced ingredients. Happy hour from 4:00 to 6:00 is as Bittercreek's menu. After 5:00 p.m. Red Feather has their own dinner menu. This is easily some of the best food we've had in all of Boise and while some may do as good a job for Farm to Fork sourcing, none do it better than Bittercreek and Red Feather. They even list all of their local suppliers on the back of the menu; something I very much appreciate. Prices range from as little as $2 for happy hour tacos (these both my husband and I highly recommend) through entrees priced at around $20 minus. These are really fair prices for the quality and portions. Tis a mystery how they do it. My Brooklyn native husband called the Manhattan Clam Chowder among the best he's ever had. Leaning vegetarian in most things, we note the menus (lunch and dinner) are great ones for those who like to graze through a menu as omniovores, but in particular a good set of options for vegetarians. I'd say order anything with chimichurri sauce. And if you think a wedge salad is a ho-hum thing, try it here as transformed with butter lettuce heart, gorgonzola, candied bacon, oven roasted tomatoes and crispy fried onions. Just over five bucks on the dinner menu and it is a meal in itself. HAPPY HOUR OK. I'm going to be a crumudgeon about their Happy Hour drinks special. (HH is 4 - 6 / M-F). This is a policy used by several Boise establishments. A "two for the price of one" on certain drinks. That does not mean you can order two drinks for two people to have one each and pay for one. It means the same person has to order both drinks for themselves. Drink one, your second one is free. For some people two cocktails and a drive home is not a good thing. I think this policy encourages over consumption. I'm much more a fan of HH policies that offer a discount on one beverage. VINO We have yet to order wine here and we need to fix that shortcoming on our part because they have a great list of fairly priced wines by the glass and by the bottle with Idaho and Northwest options well represented. Salute! THIS N THAT: 1) BREAKFAST & OTHER SPECIAL FEATURES: I hear they serve breakfast, although have not been in for that meal. They also have a wine cellar that is available for special events I hear. Also a cocktail club in which one can enroll, so if you're a frequent imbiber here that could be fun to know more about. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Level in but path of travel spaces are tight. Some seating at standard table height if you can get to it. Upper level seating is by stairs only. No accessible loo.
