Salmon
Wendy C.

Beet roasted salad with Salmon: Not great. Salmon was the worst i've ever had I hate to say. Should have been cooked longer in my opinion just seemed near raw. Gonna hope it usually gets cooked longer and was just this time I ordered this! If not, I would recommend telling kitchen you'd like it cooked extra. Rest of salad was fine. Drinks were good. Nice inside and outside seating on bustling street! Service was good.

Wanted to try this place out because the restaurant next to it is super nice. The ambiance feels classy and the staff are helpful. It felt really cozy as well. By the looks of it my expectations were up there but as we got our food it was disappointing :( We ordered the calamari, meatballs, fries and "KFC" which was breaded cauliflower. Besides the meatballs which were also on the okay side, the food was overly greasy and either too cooked or not cooked enough. The fries were super deep fried and the oil they used to cook them tasted old. The calamari was not fried enough because the texture was rubbery and it tasted oddly fishy, like the smell of uncooked fish - very hard to eat and I really like calamari. The KFC meal item was good, more in the healthy side which I liked. Meatballs were also good but they're supposed to be lamb meatballs and I didn't even taste the lamb, the sauce was the star of the dish. Overall, the ambiance was great and so were the staff but the food not so good. Bill with tip was 80ish bucks for food that wasn't that good.

The waitstaff was great- super friendly, great with kids, and patient! With a baby, it's a slow process to order and finish a meal. I didn't feel rushed during any part of the process. The food was fresh, and of obvious quality. I ordered the classic poutine and I really enjoyed the fresh cheese curds. The burger and fries from the kids meal was as big as an adult meal! And we finished our meal with delicious beignets and their caramel sauce. Comfortable interior, covered patio- recommend!

We caught a weekend brunch here, and we are so glad we went. We had limited days in town, and my wife had this as her #1 researched brunch place pre-trip. Fiona was our bartender, and we were her first bar customers. She greeted us with high energy, and her service was spotless for our visit. The food and drink ended up being fantastic too, but she really put the exclamation point on our visit overall. I kept it simple with beer, but my wife had two excellent cocktails while there. I admittedly neglected to write down the exact name of them, but my notes say they were a lavender tea drink and an herby Cosmopolitan. Just ask Fiona or whoever is behind the bar when you go. They will lead you the correct way. Picture of one is below. Anyway, I had the short rib hash and the wife had the eggs in purgatory, and both were incredible. The atmosphere was really unique. It was a cool brunch or nice any-meal place, but you could also tell it might get pretty fun at night. The wine cellar was so cool, and we asked to go check it out. Really cool area. Food, drink, and service were easily five star. We loved our experience here, I would highly recommend you checking it out, and see you there (the next time we are in Boise)...

We went there for dinner on a Sunday. It was a rather slow evening so the service was super quick and the employees were very pleasant. The food/drinks ...uhm we had a couple appetizers, dinner, a couple of desserts and a couple of Palomas. Though it wasn't the tastiest, it wasn't bad.it wasn't loud so we could hear each other speaking. They had the option to sit inside or sit outside. The evening was cool so sitting outside wasn't out of the question. It's right smack in the middle of everything- great place!

We were looking for a lunch place with outside seating, and this restaurant seemed to fit the bill. After walking in, two hostesses explained where we could sit. My wife had the Huevos Rancheros, which she said were only luke warm, and the cheese inside was not melted all the way and rubbery. I had the Egg White Frittata with cherry tomatoes, arugula, mozzarella, oyster mushrooms in a balsamic reduction, and basil oil. The food could have been hotter, but as I remember it was almost 100 degrees outside. We might come back to try items from their dinner menu, but their brunch didn't wow us.

Venetian Mimosa

Brunch at Red Feather Lounge did not disappoint I had the Rancheros Verdes and it was amazing, just the right amount of spice, and the locally sourced seared cheese curds totally stole the show for me, I was obsessed. The pork was tender and packed with flavor. Paired it with the Venetian Mimosa, which was light, refreshing, and such a perfect brunch drink. I also tried the house-made buttermilk biscuits; a little dense for my taste, but the flavor was good and the house made strawberry jam they serve with them was sooo good it made up for it. It was busy on a Sunday morning and a reservation is recommended but the staff was wonderful and attentive, thank you to Caroline for a great experience. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to for brunch!

Kung pao Cauliflower

Our waiter Tyler was AWESOME!! He was so sweet, attentive, and just really good at everything he does. Very appreciative of his presence. We sat outside and the views and ambiance were chefs kiss! And the kung pao cauliflower omggg sooo good that we had to get another order to go, however when the to go bag came we were like let's just take one more bite .. then ended up eating the entire thing. Lol. Will definitely be back.

The cauliflower alone is a reason to come here. Crispy, sweet with the perfect hint of spice. We should have ordered two! Drink selection is great. The lighting was perfect and the wine wall/staircase was beautiful! Service was a bit slow but the restaurant was packed so understandable. I absolutely recommend red feather for a yummy dinner or drinks and apps with friends.

If you're still going to Barbacoa for the "best food in Boise" then you are missing out. Red Feather defines artisan cuisine. Their flavor combinations are seamless, their menu has a great variety, and our experience was top notch. The inside is cozy and romantic. Our server, Justin, was AWESOME. He was very attentive, knowledgeable, and comped our desserts when they ran out of the seasonal special we ordered. We started with a complimentary amuse bouche. Then, to my surprise, the baby carrots and chickpeas had great flavor! I never would have picked that but they were a great appetizer. The salmon was so rich and sweet potato eggplant lasagna was incredible. Topped off the night with the chocolate torte and huckleberry ice cream! Mmm-mmm! They do accept reservations so make yours for your next girls night, date night, or special occasion.

Super cool atmosphere, the food. OH MY GOODNESS SO YUMMY! Bloody Mary was a 5/10 but still good. Server was very accommodating and friendly. Will definitely return when we return to Boise.

How have we just discovered this downtown Boise gem?!? Fantastic location on 8th street with a super cozy atmosphere. We were seated upstairs and our server, Josh, was super attentive and excited to tell us about the food- highlighting the locally sourced meats. The menu and craft cocktails change with the seasons. My date had the Waygu steak entree and I had the steak frites. We also ordered the Generals's cauliflower and strawberry, beet and arugula salad. For dessert we shared the maple pot de crème. It was served in a crystal goblet and was absolutely fantastic. 10 outta 10 would recommend and we would definitely return.

I was in town for business, and I had a local friend tell me, "you gotta go in here. You can tell…read morethe bartender what you like flavor wise, and they will make you something even better than you can imagine." And that, my friends, is exactly what happened. I walked in, not sure what to get. The bartender asked me what flavors I like. She went away and made me this epic cocktail. She told me all the things she added, and it was clear, these bartenders are the real deal. They know their stuff. I drank my delightful cocktail way too fast. But it was so damn good. The vibe is fun. They bartenders interact with everyone and do all kinds of cool things with cool ingredients and tell you about it all. Perfect spot for a loungey date night, or a meet up with a friend. There is no food. But plenty of spots on 8th in walking distance. This is probably one of the best cocktail bars I've ever been to. ... and I've been to a lot. :)

I first came here in June of last year (2025), Before I moved to the treasure Valley area. Within…read morethe first hour of being here, I felt the most welcome. Like this bar changed my whole perspective on the whole state of Idaho being a California transplant, which doesn't hold that much weight with other people in Idaho, but I don't care. I will always come here anytime I come downtown and I will always overtip because the likes of Ruby and Darien never disappoint, including the regulars, whom are also always nice. For every overrated cactus bar with the worst service, there is the mode lounge which sets the standard for everything in Boise.

A speak easy in Boise! I was intrigued! The whole experience was so fun to share with a group of…read morefriends! We stood in the alley and knocked on the door. A small window in the door opened and we had to provide a password to gain entry. (Initially our large group had to reserve 3 time slots and we would be seated separately.) I was in the first group. We were let into a small area with floor to ceiling bookcases. Of course there was a book that once pulled, opened a secret door to the bar within. The ambiance was dim lighting and groups of comfortable seating areas. The waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks on the menu. I started with a mocktail that could be made vegan by omitting the egg white. Beautifully presented with a flower design. It was sweet and it was tart. The second drink I got was a cocktail that was smooth with a perfect amount of sweet. My friends got cocktails in their unique glasses. When our next group came through, they were led into a room. After a while, one friend came out to say hello to us. The waiter noticed that we knew each other and told my group to follow him. The room was dimly lit and was furnished with comfortable armchairs and couches. Our third group was able to join us in the room and we were able to mingle seated or standing. The different drinks that were ordered were so cool. A smoky bubble was set on top of a cone shaped glass that resembled an ice cream cone. I had a couple of friends that ordered gin drinks and they were served in a bathtub complete with rubber ducky! This was such a fun and special way to celebrate a friend's birthday! The service was superb!

I've been to several speakeasies around the USA and Gatsby should be the standard of what a…read morespeakeasy should be. No really! Imagine yourself walking through the 8th St promenade in downtown Boise. It's hustling and bustling with people and restaurants that are packed. Then, out of the corner of your eye, you see an alley. It's kinda dark, maybe a little unsettling at first. You see a steel door with a small panel at the top of the door. No door handles but a green lit old stagecoach light, a small wooden sign hanging g just beyond the door with a key on it. Hmmm, strange. In faded sharpie letters it says Knock knock on the metal door, so you knock twice. The panel on the door slides open and they ask for the password. Whoa!!!! Luckily you called ahead to make reservations so they whispered it to you. You give the password and door opens to a tiny little library with a couple of shelves full of books. The hosts welcomes you and you stare at the bookshelf knowing it isn't just a bookshelf but a door. You try pulling on different books guessing which is the right one but after a minute the hostess shows you and you enter a beautiful brick walled 1920s decorated room with seats and dim lights and no windows whatsoever. The artwork is prohibition-era themed. Heck, there's even a stack of wooden barrels that supposedly hold spirits. That is exactly the speakeasy experience you are looking for. We were seated in the boiler room, a private area which had beautiful wooden lockers with glass doors all lit up and full of booze. Books line the wall and there is an old fireplace covered with candles that have melted wax all over the mantle. In the corner is a poker table. Really the perfect vibe for a speakeasy. Glance at the menu and notice their tang of cheaper to very rare and unique spirits, some costing hundreds of dollars for a shot. Whisky, vodka, rum, gin, scotch, bourbon, you name it. But also check out their cocktails. They can even make mocktails if you don't want alcohol. Not only are the drinks unique but so is their presentation. The glades used I've never seen. Some drinks have a printed pattern on them, others come with dry ice that quickly evaporates or a cool smoked filled bubble. The whole experience was just amazing. This is a do not miss opportunity if you like drinks and cool, unique experiences. They even have another room in the back called the Garrison Room which looks like a mineshaft. I just love the thought put into this place. And when you are done, you exit through a nondescript door and exits to a patio area of another restaurant and back out to the promenade. Just a wow experience! So glad I did it.
