The karaoke jockey (KJ) Chance has quit leaving the bar almost empty every night. The day time bartender (Star) is always finding an area that is not seen on camera and getting high from her THC vape and not being respectful to the customers. She has openly disrespected the other bartenders around the patrons and openly harassed patrons she doesn't personally like. Night bartender (Malinda) spends more time with personal friends than she does behind the bar. When she is behind the bar she has a curt attitude towards the customers thinking she's being funny, but instead is being rude and disrespectful. There are 2 new bartenders that do a pretty good job but they don't get the chance to shine because they are put on the back burner. After going to this bar for quite a while I feel that the atmosphere here has changed erratically in the negative direction. The patrons are great but it's the two aforementioned bartenders that have drug the bar into disarray.

Not the lame video content where 2 seconds into a bite an actor says it is soooo amazing. This is the real deal. As far as Oaxacan, straight up nails the flavor profile - which only comes with multiple preparation steps, layers, and time. Thus the expense. The only authenticity deviation I can tell is that the spice level is much lower, which my wife appreciated. It has been so long since I've had a mole that didn't taste like Hershey coco powder cooked in an overly sweet base with a little pork fat. Or from a Sysco can. After having some great experiences in northern Mexico and southern CA, in the decades since I had given up on finding a good mole. Their Mole Negro was incredibly favorable and dances on the tongue for a solid 30 seconds. Braised beef short rib was perfectly cooked and fork tender. Mole - mwah! Can't recall ever having a charred sunchoke (as a side), but now it is on my radar because that was super tasty. Barbacoa de borrego... during a trip going through Quintana Roo, I shared a meal with an ethnic Mayan community where the meat was freshly slaughters, dry rubbed, wrapped in leaves, and slow pit cooked over embers in the ground. Amano's style is using agave, which I liked. From time to time I purchase Boise River lamb at the Meridian Main Street Farmers Market. It's way better than New Zealand lamb which always seems a little gamey/off to me. The broth provided just elevated each mouthful. To have local Boise River lamb prepared as an authentic barbacoa... Given the amount of meat you get, it's totally worth the $108 splurge. But wait, there's more. Scallop crudo - my wife said it reminded her of the fresh shrimp and fish ceviche we had in Playa del Carmen. I loved the pairing with jicama and slice of de-seeded jalapeno (not spicy). Only warning - the dry spice they sprinkle scallops with can be a bit strong for some. Beans, simply amazing. Rice, pretty good. 4 salsa's offered a real diversity of flavors to do different pairings. Provided tortillas seemed more like authentic maize that is well worked, not the fragile disks you can get in the grocery store. The tres leche lavender cake was enjoyable, but didn't blow me away. Everyone was very friendly. Our server was awesome and super helpful. Great menu of mescals, which was perfect for resetting the pallet. I guess they are going to start up a tasting room in the near future, which would be pretty interesting. To get that real taste without having to spend thousands on getting to where the authentic exists - simply awesome.

Our server, Ashley, was absolutely wonderful. Since it was our first visit, she thoroughly explained the menu and made excellent suggestions. She even showed me where Chef and owner Sal prepares the meats underground overnight and explained the extensive process behind them. Ashley then introduced me to Sal before giving me a peek inside the mezcal tasting room. I loved the agave goddess artwork in there! Sadly, I didn't get to meet his wife and business partner, Becca--but hopefully I will when we return! Ashley also took the time to show me the entrance to Cán Coctelería--Amano's speakeasy--from their outdoor dining patio. Now I have yet another reason to return! We started with drinks and cornbread. My Cadillac margarita was impressive! I also tried my hubby's Café de Olla--¡delicioso! I sampled their mezcal as well, and it was so tasty and warmed my heart in the best possible way! The cornbread was incredibly moist and buttery. They also serve a delicious sweet wheat bread that, in my opinion, is even better than chips and salsa! For my meal, I ordered the chilaquiles with eggs over easy and added birria. They were excellent! I love when the chips still have some texture and aren't completely soggy. These had the perfect sauce-to-chip ratio, along with a little spice--which I loved! My husband ordered the birria tacos and absolutely devoured them. The refreshing towel offered after our meal was another thoughtful touch and the perfect way to end the experience. Overall, I truly loved Amano! The food was delicious, the service was memorable, and the entire experience felt special. I'm already looking forward to returning, experiencing Cán Coctelería, and bringing our friends and relatives whenever they come to visit!

I don't smoke, & sensitive to all types of smoke...so I'd thought I'd have issues here... but their state of the art air purification system really works! Every staff member (as well as patrons) I met were all genuinely friendly, & full of ideas of drinks to try. (& fun info on cigars avail too of course... sounds like they have a great selection on that front too of course!)... As I'm a very light drinker, I qonly got to enjoy one delish drink this time , but I got to try another drink the 1st time I came, & I had a sip of my friend's drink ... all 3 drinks were fantastic... in quality spirits, in presentation, in atmosphere the drinks were enjoyed in... I highly recommend this as another downtown Eagle destination, even if u don't smoke, or u smoke but don't want to drink...as the cozy yet ample enviro lends itself to both intimate as well as group gatherings. I appreciate that I can bring my own food in, & that there is both indoor as well as outdoor seating. I rate it as very accessible, as multi seat types, multi entrances, spacious interior & exterior. Honestly it was nice to not feel rushed... & it was fairly quiet yet lively while I was there both times... so u can actually hear who u are talking to, unlike many restaurants (& coffee shops). Shout out to the great new GM & both bartenders who were very patient with this self proclaimed high interest low liquor knowledge gal

Now let's fast forward to 2026 and I would have to give Swirl a 10 but unfortunately the site won't let me. What's changed? Swirl now is a full service bar and offers alcoholic drinks and cocktails in addition to wines. You can get a martini, ol fashion ar shots of whiskey and/tequlia. They now have an attached shop where you can get unique snacks, candies and knickknacks. Too many to list here but definitely worth a visit just to see the variety. The shop is great addition but what blew me away was the charcuterie board. There is only one option here and one is all you need or want. In my opinion it is the best in terms of value and quality of any cheese board I have experienced anywhere in the Boise area.. It sets the standard for what a charcuterie board should aspire to be. In one word 'amazing'. It has nuts, meats, cheeses, cracker, olives and the rest you'll have to see for yourself. That's why no picture. The charcuterie alone is worth the visit. I walked in and OMG, It's way bigger than I thought and so stunning! The booths and chandeliers were very classy. The bartender Mel assisted me and she was very pleasant. She let me know that while they have coffee drinks, she's not much of a barista...they have an experienced barista on staff but they only work there from about 7am to 1pm and I was there approx 1:30pm. She stated she could make simple lattes but nothing all that fancy from the coffee menu as cocktails are her actual specialty so I decided to go with alcoholic libations since that's what she knows how to make. One that stood out to me was called the "Figgy Fizz" which is made with a fig syrup and I was excited as for breakfast yesterday I had the best Greek yogurt I've ever had which was honey and fig flavored so I was definitely in a fig mood lol she whipped up the drink but unfortunately after she handed it to me, she let me know she couldn't find the fig syrup they put in it so she substituted that with pumpkin spice. I was kind of bummed about that and wished she would have asked me first if that substitution was okay with me or if I'd want to try something else because now it's not a "figgy fizz" but a pumpkin spice fizz but I still drank it and it was decent. I decided to try one more drink which was a pomegranate rosemary lemon drop and it was beautiful and very tasty ! It's a nice spot to have a drink, the staff is quite friendly and they have some unique flavors so i can see myself frequenting this establishment.
