I was at an event in Nampa the other night and ordered food online from Whiskey River because it was close to the venue. Within seconds, I received a text that my order had been received, but not confirmed, and to watch for a confirmation text. After 30 minutes, I still had not received a confirmation text, so I messaged asking for an approximate time. The reply stated they were "slammed" and that my order would be ready in about 30 minutes. After another 45 minutes, I still had not received any communication from them, so I decided to walk over to check on my order, hoping that it would be ready. The first thing I noticed was that there were not a lot of customers inside. I informed the server behind the bar that I was there to pick up my order, and she went back to check. When she returned, she told me that there were no pickup orders. I showed her the email with my order number and told her that I never received a confirmation from them. She went back into the kitchen, then came back and said they didn't have my order, but could make it while I waited - about 10 minutes. I reluctantly agreed and waited. When I got my order, I asked for a few extra cups of sauce. The server was put off, as if asked to perform an overwhelming task. Needless to say, I left the establishment with a less-than-favorable taste in my mouth. 24 hours later, I received a text from them that my order was confirmed and would be ready to be picked up. I texted back that this was 24 hours late and to cancel the order. The reply was that their texting service was unavailable, and to call for questions. I then replied to the confirmation email, hoping that would get through to them. No such luck. The reply I received said that delivery had failed - that their email box was full. I will say that the food was good, and that the server was mainly friendly. However, the whole online ordering system needs some serious revamping. I hope that Whiskey River will take this review as constructive criticism so that future customers will have an easier, smoother online ordering experience. read more

Definitely a dive-bar experience. Very dark inside. No table service. Food options were bar food. I wasn't thrilled with mine (steak and cheese sandwich, upgraded to onion rings), but my friend really liked hers (bacon cheeseburger and fries). Bartenders were really nice but overall the service was pretty slow. We ordered food at the same time and mine came out over 5 minutes after my friends. Two pool tables and several dart games. Looks like they may have live music too. read more

We tried to check this place out but we didn't have our licenses on us ( left in bike) and they wouldn't let us in without ID's. I totally understand this except for the fact that we are in our 60's , so it was obvious that we were older than 21. ‍ So the only thing I can say about this place is... Happy hour is 4-6, 7 days a week. .50 off wells and beers. First off, the triple bacon grilled cheese is actually a burger. 1/3 pound patty. It's amazing. Served on Texas toast with cheese lettuce and tomatoes. Mushroom Swiss was really really good. Husband says they should use different buns, but I thought they were great. Decent amount of mushrooms and cheese. Could have been more, but was good as it. The spicy chicken sandwich was not spicy at all and kinda tasted like a frozen microwave patty to me. Wasn't bad, wasn't great. The French fries are awesome, so are the tater tots. We did not get wings this time but if you have never tried them, do! They are huge and amazing. read more

We come there on Thursday nights to watch daughter & son in law play darts. Staff is very friendly. Brittany is sweet and fun. She has spunk. ​The cook is thoughtful and also kind. He makes THE BEST FRENCH FRIES in the valley. They are so good we need at least 2 orders. We haven't really had much interacting with the bartender, except that he does a great job of ignoring us. I would actually be completely content if someone told me this was the only bar I was allowed to go to for the rest of my life. My husband and I are big into places we can drink that have activities; bowling, Dave and Busters, movies, etc. The darts are seriously so fun! We had to have played at least 10 games. It's definitely a locals bar, which I really liked the vibe. Very chill, great bartenders. The nachos were TO DIE FOR. Oh my gosh probably the best I've had. No joke. Only downside would maybe be it smells kind of funky in there. But drink enough and you get used to it. Seriously loved this place. read more

The staff all seem very friendly, but it doesn't change the overall experience unfortunately. I had been there a couple times for a drink. Nothing very notable happened and I left both times satisfied as a customer who had a cocktail in a dive bar. Then, last night on New Year's Eve, I went twice - once to have a red beer and once to get a burger about two hours later. Admittedly, there was a lot going on as it was New Year's Eve and also a big BSU game. I will %100 give them that. But that being said, they seemed well staffed with a lot of folks working. My first experience was sitting at the bar before it got very busy at all. There was probably only about 10 people there. I ordered a Coors light with a tall glass of tomato juice on the side and asked the bar tender for salt and pepper. I had to ask twice for all of those items and when they came with no straw and no napkin, I had to ask for those as well multiple times. I eventually ended up going and getting my own napkin. Not a great start. I used to bartend and when I was trained, you always watched for patrons wanting another drink or looking you in the eye trying to get your attention. They did none of these things. I in fact, had to keep my eyes on them for long periods of time, hoping to make eye contact and get their attention instead of doing what most people would do which would be yell to them or snap their fingers or wave or do something else obnoxious like that which I was trying not to do out of respect. There's nothing more frustrating than having somebody behind the bar, wearing a baseball cap and looking down or just generally not looking at you when you clearly need something from them and they treat you like you don't exist. Anyway, on the second visit I ordered the " gourmet bacon cheeseburger" and fries. I asked for ranch. When the basket came, it looked pretty good though there was no ranch they had given me fry sauce. It wasn't worth trying to bother them to get it changed out so I started to eat. The fries are fresh cut so if that's your thing they're pretty good, but they are not crispy at all which is my thing so that was a bummer but the taste was there. The burger looked pretty good so I picked it up and took a big bite. The initial flavor was tasty, but there was something off about the texture and then part of the flavor on the inside of the bite seemed weird and took me aback. I put it down and looked at it, but the bar was pretty dark. It was really hard to see what was going on inside there but overall look like a great burger so I took another bite. On that bite I realize that I really did not like the flavor at all and that something about the texture was disgusting and horribly wrong. Wanting to believe that I hadn't just spent so much money on a bar burger that looked so good but tasted like this I nibbled off a small bite on the side. That was the last taste for me. It was nasty whatever was happening so I pulled out my flashlight and I immediately realized what was wrong. The patty was very thick and almost seemed like it could've been a hand patty and if that's true then good for them! But the issue was it was completely raw on the inside. So - BIG THICK LUKE WARM RAW HAMBURGER patty " gourmet burger" in a dive bar for $13 plus tip. I sat for quite a while with the other %75 of my burger untouched without a single person asking me how my food was or if I would like a box. I finally gave up waiting, took my basket to the bar and left it for the bartender. I told her that it was raw and disgusting. She asked me if I would like a different one and I said no thank you I just wanted them to know. Disappointing to say the least. I probably won't be back. As a bar, the drinks are a good poor and a good selection of upper shelf choices. The bartenders have been excellent the 1/2 dozen times we've been there over the last several years. We live in another town, so we just discovered this place while looking around downtown. 1st time, years ago, we stopped in , ad a few cocktails, and decided to eat there. It was very good for what it was. Now, over the last few years, it has gone downhill, really bad. We were actually not going to go there last night, but restaurant we were planning to go to nearby was closed. We were hungry, so we decided to try again, remembering it wasn't very good last time and way over priced what we got. So we figured let's just do a few wings and call it good. Guess what Friday early evening and they're out?! So we ordered finger steaks, and the wife ordered nachos. My fingersteaks and tots arrived nearly black from over cooked dirty grease. Wife's nachos looked like something scooped out of the waste pail. I ate a 1/4th of my order and the wife ate about 3 bites of her nachos. Bartender took them back and never said a word. I spent all that nite with severe heartburn. Kept me up all night until 6am and went to bathroom with a mild case of diarrhea. That place needs to shut down that kitchen! I'm seriously considering calling the health dept. Monday. Will never set foot in that place again read more

Wife and I stopped by for some bar food and an adult beverage. Service was good but that's about it. I ordered chicken drumettes (real wings, not the phony stuff that they call "wings" these days which are just sliced chicken breasts. Drumettes came out smelling like fish. They need to change their oil a little more often. My wife and I each had three drinks. She had onion rings. The tab came out to over $70.00!! Never again! Overpriced and lousy food. Onion rings were soggy from too much oil. Wife only ate two of them and left the rest for the garbage can. We were really hoping for an old fashioned bar with good bar food but ended up with garbage and way over priced. read more

In my opinion Whiskey River is not a place to be in Nampa. The food is greasy and takes forever and was served by a really rude female server who was gruff and had tattoos all over her head. The whole place has an awful odor and the bathroom is disgusting. They also openly supported a person who used a racial epithet. Whiskey River is a rough biker type bar and generally not a fun place for a single woman as there are 10 biker type guys who pounced the moment I walked in the door. Local watering hole my kinda place! Came to Idaho to see family and could walk here on a Sunday when all liquor stores were closed, love it.

I feel conflicted with the review. That is why I'm sticking with 3 stars. Whiskey River as a bar is great. The drinks are good, the live band was great. Whiskey river for food was less than impressive. I was with 4 people. The two people who got burgers said they were good. Myself and another person order chicken. I got the crispy chicken sandwich and the other person got grilled chicken. Both of which tasted like frozen chicken. We could have made our own meals for $2 bucks, lol. My tab at the end of the night ended up being $92. I have no idea how that was possible but I was not provided and itemized bill. I was with a group so I'm assuming some of their drinks or food ended up on mine. So stick to what you know and that's being a bar and watch your tabs! read more

Was a good time. Was Karaoke night which I loved!!!! The Bartender was super sweet as well. got the bacon cheeseburger, the steak tacos and the wings, bone in. Only bad thing I have to say is I had high hopes for the wings. While crispy the flavors weren't that great and the meat was pretty chewy.. couldn't finish them because I just wasn't a fan. One of my fiancé and my favorite karaoke places. We usually go on Thursday evenings. Fantastic sound system, lots of song choices and smoke free! The whiskey river is a total disappointment. It has a dirty floor and counters aren't cleaned after each customer leaves, the beer I order bud light bottle is $3.50, every other bar in town its $2.75 for happy hour or just $3.00. There's this girl that walks around behind the bar doing nothing, I assume she heats food in the microwave for customers. Then she sits at the bar. If she works there shouldn't she be cleaning the place or maybe be a bar back to help the bartender. read more

"This is not the library, kids," one scratchy voice heckled as I walked out the front door. No kidding. I'm new to town and I love whiskey so that's how I ended up here. Coming inside this bar was how I learned that some establishments in Idaho still allow smoking. I was hit with the smoke and turned right around just to be cat called by a bunch of jerks who were apparently already drunk at 5:30.
