I had a great time at this little dive. The staff was friendly while making tons of crazy cocktails. The karaoke was fun and unpretentious. I didn't partake in any food but the smells coming from the kitchen were good. They have good looking staff and that makes for excellent eye candy. You got one star only because I could not give you a zero... I have never felt more unwelcome in my life as when my husband and I came to your establishment. We were happy to see somewhere so close to home. We went in and sat at a table. People were staring at us as we sat down like we didn't belong there. We looked at the menu then my husband went up to the bar to order. The bartender clearly saw him but ignored him the entire time just laughing and chatting with people sitting at the bar. He stood there for quite a while until he realized we were not going to be "allowed" to place an order and spend our money. He came back to our table and asked how much longer I was willing to be blatantly ignored... we decided 10 minutes was our max. It was not like they were busy... only a handful of people in there. If this is how you conduct business I cannot imagine people wanting to continue to support your establishment... to say I was insulted and disgusted is putting it mildly... your employees are an embarrassment and I suggest cleaning house before you lose all your business! Formerly Gelato Cafe, Breakaway is providing a similar menu and experience. What is noticeably missing is the Sushi. The Sushi counter has been replaced by draft beers.l but the rest of the menu is fundamentally the same. And yes, they still have gelato! They've opened up the space next to the original cafe and created more space for watching games on a projection television system. The space and especially the furniture needs a little updating. They do have a pool table though which is a cool addition. Breakaway maintained the liquor license so you can still get your favorite (if basic) cocktails here. The patio is still available in good weather which makes this a great place for lunch or an evening cocktail spring through fall. The food remains very good and the staff is very friendly. I hope that this restaurant has as long a run as the former Gelato Cafe. read more

We have been in several times since my last review. The last couple times, the tacos were unbelievably greasy, but still good aside from that. Tonight, every single one of our tacos arrived at our table broken in half. We had to ask the waitress for silverware just to eat them. They were also dry, and the queso wasn't near warm enough. They've also doubled the price from $1 to $2, although their signage has remained the same and the quality has gone way downhill. After this visit, we won't be back. read more

The owners daughter has an unreal sense of entitlement, I was sitting on the patio enjoying a beer and there was a dog that came up to me and I asked the dog to leave, at this point she started yelling at me that this was her dad's bar, She was drunk. The owner came by and apologized for her actions because she was clearly in the wrong. The owner then asked his daughter to apologize to me and my spouse and she was slurring her words. What a joke. Came here last night (Thursday). Wonderful live music. They have expanded and are under new management since I was here last. It's the perfect little corner bar. Kind of reminded me of Cheers since I knew many people from the neighborhood. Surprisingly lots of seating but they were filling up nicely as night went on. The usual bar fare which was good. We just had chicken strips and tots. They could have used another waitress but the one they had was doing an amazing job so kudos to her. We'll definitely be back! read more

I used to visit the Breakaway before the virus and always found it to be a decent place for a cold beer after a hard days work. The food is average. Yesterday I visited and was very disappointed . The tap IPA I ordered was flat and warm and served in a plastic cup. It's time to stop believing the virus BS and open up. All the "policies" in place have made it impossible to enjoy a beer here. This may be the case everywhere, I don't know. This is America, open up or shit down and let someone who is not afraid open up. read more

I would give minus -5 stars if I could I went here for the first time and was violently attacked by the bouncer he choked me out and slammed me on a table spraining my shoulder ,I have deep contusions all over ,a black eye ,deep cuts on my elbow, but worst of all is I was in a car accident causing me a bad neck injury that he has re- injured and all of this was over because I believe all lives matter ,not just black lives I believe African Americans ,blue ,white ,Asian, Hispanic and every other race and life matters because of my refusal to conform to his B.L.M marxism I was assaulted and injured badly so badly I had to go to the hospital the next day .A bouncers job is to protect the patrons of the bar not hurt them and traumatize them because of a different political belief when he was choking me I had bit him that's when he said oh your going to jail now bi#%#t and because I lost consciousness after being in a choke hold ,I was to out of it to defend myself I think I was just happy to be in presence of police I did not care what happened because I felt safer .So this coward got away with it ,later the next day because of my alcohol consumption I wanted to make sure I never laid a hand on the bouncer first ,so I asked my friend and she confirmed I never put my hands on him first all I did was talk back to him and sass him were her exact words ,he was the aggressor in my face calling me every horrible name in the book . I am a abuse survivor so this has brought up PTSD back in a very traumatic way .I am seeking legal counsel to get the justice I deserve .No man should ever assault a woman especially one that's job is to protect people at the bar if you are a patriot like myself please help me make a stand against this kind of violence in our communities (where we go one we go all ) read more
