Beer and drinks we're good service was very good. I just have a slight problem with the food, very small quantities to me for the price. The nachos were probably the biggest let down Ordered a full order for myself and 3 other people, and we literally had 4 to 5 chips each and the nachos were gone. That's pretty sad for nachos. When usually everywhere else in town, you get a pretty good size helping So I dont know why so small there or if they're just making that way. But that definitely needs to be fixed. Hooligans is my favorite neighborhood bar. Service is great, and the owner remembers me every time I'm there which I appreciate. The crowd is diverse locals and sports fans. They have games on and you can always watch your favorite team. The bar fare is delicious and they have a great well rounded menu. I recommend the wings, and the green tea shots. read more

We came here last week for lunch and I am sure glad we did. We had all intentions of going somewhere else and drove by here and said why not...walking in very open, clean bar/pub...tons of seating all around. This place is a little deceiving from the outside but once inside this place is pretty good sized. Plus tons of TVs everywhere and not a bad place in the house to watch a game. Plus they have pool and darts in the back along with a shuffleboard table. Once sat very friendly bartender came over and took our drink order. After a quick glance of the menu I immediately knew I wanted to try their version of hot wings. BTW I don't know what's up with the Boise area but finding good wings is an absolute challenge. Most places that I have been to don't even dry them? I have even had them microwaved totally disgusting! Not here at this joint because after drinking my beer and ordering another my wings came out. They serve them dry and will toss them if you ask but wanted to see how these wings tasted naked. Now these aren't traditional drums and flats because they don't separate them which I love . Makes for a way more juicy wing. These hand made and brined wings are delicious! Be forewarned they come out pipping hot so let them cool for a minute. First bite in I was like "YES"! I finally found some good wings in Boise! Served with your choice of ranch, blue cheese or both which I did. The holy grail for me was not only the wing but their Buffalo hot sauce is Amazing!!! I even asked the bartender if they bottled it. Just the right amount of heat to leave a little reminder behind...my wife had the chicken, bacon ranch wrap with fries and loved it as well. I also ordered a side of fries well done and man these were also perfectly cooked golden beauties seasoned perfectly. This made my week finding a great sports bar that has a real locals feel to it. Still in the process of checking out all the bar and grills in the Boise/Meridian area and happened to find Hooligan's today. So glad we did. Great sports bar layout, everything is clean and well furnished. Wife loved the Painkillers and the food was a notch well above the usual Bar & Grill fare. Burger was spot on and the French Dip with a pretzel roll was perfect. Sausage flatbread was delicious. Another highlight was the smoked gouda cheese dip. It comes with their pretzel appetizer and is a bit extra for things like their nachos and loaded fries. We'd buy it by the quart if available. Service was attentive and asked thoughtful questions. The vibe of Hooligansreally resonated with us beyond the food and service, so it's a place where you just want to hang out for a while. Anyway, we're going back soon. I had high hopes for Hooligan's especially after hearing about how awesome their burgers are. However I found this sport bar pretty average. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad in any way at all but it wasn't exceptionally memorable either. My husband and I sat at the bar and ordered a PBR ($3.00) and cranberry vodka ($6.00), respectively. For grub, we chose Nachos ($9.00/half order, $16.00 for full) with beer cheese (+$2.00) and chicken (+$3.00), and the highly acclaimed Hooligan's Burger (locally-raised, grass-fed beef with grilled onions, lettuce, tomato on an Acme brioche bun with fries, $13.00) with American cheese. The price is just right for the great quality of the food. The nachos were fantastic - they were extremely generous with the toppings which were all fresh. I couldn't really tell a difference in the cheese. The burger was cooked just pink enough (which is default, you have to tell them if you'd like it more well done). But it wasn't much more than another pub burger. Again, I am not saying it wasn't great. It just didn't stand out in my long, long list of fantastic burgers the Treasure Valley offers. We were looking for a local hangout since moving into the neighborhood recently. We went here during Happy Hour the first time and were quickly and friendly acknowledged. Our drinks were mixed well. Happy Hours prices were very fair. Oh yeah, this place has a FULL BAR even though Yelp hasn't been updated. The regulars go there to have fun and seem friendly. Due to Covid, you can't sit at the bar and tables are spread apart. I know this place will get even better once everything is opened back up.. read more

6th person to review Hooligans Pub and Grill in Boise, Idaho near 5 Mile and Overland. This is my 442nd review. I went in for the "pub & grill" part on a weekday afternoon. I am only glad that I went in because of the experience, but never will I go again. They promote their food but when we walked in and asked for a menu the waitress was less than happy about that. Why would that be? Well, she is the cook, too! The best part though is that the food is cooked on a Walmart skillet by the waitress near the bar. We ordered a chicken salad and a BBQ Hamburger. The chicken on the salad was still cold and was microwaved! I don't know about you but frozen, microwaved chicken is something that I don't want to pay for. The hamburger was just like the one you make at home on a grill. The waitress/bartender was less than happy that we ordered food. The place looks cool though. A bar in the middle of the area, a few pool tables. Don't come in here expecting anything more than a 2-star meal. read more

I really wanted to like and be excited about this place. We went once for breakfast for a Packers game and it was a lot of fun. The owner served us and was super nice and attentive and the food was good. I went with my family for an easy dinner tonight and had a completely different experience. Monday night, not that busy, and it took almost an hour to get our food. We were willing to look past that as things happen and our server said the flatbread my husband ordered takes a long time. (?) When my daughter and I ordered meals with fries she asked if we wanted ranch or fry sauce. We both asked for one of each. I had one Diet Coke, then asked for a refill (again, there over an hour). After dinner I wanted a little more soda and she hadn't been back so, honestly giving a somewhat busy server the benefit of the doubt, I walked up to the bar and asked for a refill. She saw me and I told her I knew she was busy. When we (finally) got our bill I was charged for two diet cokes and we were charged 75¢ each for our four sauces. Had we been told of all of the unexpected charges, no big deal. I questioned the charge for two diet cokes and she said they only come with one refill and I had two refills (including the one I had to get myself). I commented that between that and not even getting one dip/meal (sauce) included OR being told of our up charges was disappointing (it wasn't about the price amount, it was about the principle.) She slapped the bill down and said she'd get her manager. We did NOT ask for the manager, but sat there waiting. I finally went to the bar and asked to just pay for it as the server said she was getting the manager but we didn't need to talk to anyone, just wanted to pay. The server was seen across the bar chatting with a group of friends (?) and co-workers. Not serving a table, visiting. Leaving us to wait on I guess nothing. I paid and when we went back to the table she was pointing at us (?). SUPER unprofessional and went from zero to nasty. Food isn't terrible but I will not be back again based on the service and wonky up charges. (My husband paid for two beers and we all got meals, so it wasn't like I was there trying to scam them out of Diet Coke refills!) Bummer, seems like a cool place. read more

Strolled into this neighborhood dive-ish bar during the holidays with friends and was surprised by the cleanliness, friendliness and service. Guess they recently started serving food which was a great surprise! Food was delish - chix sandwich was huge, fresh and the chilies added a nice touch. The wings came out 'naked' which were perfect - who needs the extra mess-accompanied by 3 homemade sauces including hot,sweet spicy wing sauce. The wedge salmon was outstanding- grilled to perfection. They pour strong tasty drinks priced VERY responsibly. Full bar and regional beers. Music loud eNough to love but still talk. Nice pool tables and shuffle board too. New owners seem to know what they are doing and seem care about the quality and experience - think Cheers without being corny. Give it a try! read more

It's a bar? I mean, our waitress was lovely, checking in the perfect amount. But my companions were a bit grumpy that they only serve beer and wine, so no mixed drinks at all. It's not too loud, except for when very drunk people were shouting. We were able to have a nice conversation, only occasionally interrupted by a couple aggressively making out in the corner or random singing. It was a Saturday night but no actual karaoke was going on - just people shout/singing along to the music. My husband and I were in search for a place to watch the Packers/Vikings game and this was perfect. Being from Wisconsin it was great to be somewhere owned by a Wisconsinite. The wings were delicious and I enjoyed the vibe greatly. They were crammed that night and service was a bit slower than expected. Very disappointed went to watch the BSU game and the bar tender refused to turn on for the game so we had listen to rap and music they wanted there were several tables wanting to listen to game but they refused to turn it on. I live in Salt Lake City and I came in just for a night towards the end of the rush hour around 9:30 and let me tell you shay is the best bartender I have ever encountered. I came in alone looking to play some pool and since everyone had just left that was playing pool she offered to play with me for $20. We didn't get to end the game because she got busy and went right to work. I can't tell you how much I appreciated her since I was the youngest person there ( just turned 21 a few months earlier and have been going through a rough time with my mother in the hospital.) she was able to uplift my mood by playing pool with me and after working 5 years in the customer service industry I can say I've never experienced the level of customer service she gave to me. She is an awesome bartender and is beautiful to say the least as a cherry on top. I read the reviews before coming in and saw that she was just a different person that wanted to make sure everyone had a good experience. it is true. She goes above and beyond for her guest and I don't know what she makes but deserves a raise at the very least! Gave her a what I would consider a good tip just so she can keep doing what she's doing. I can't express enough how great she was . This is the spot for anyone just driving through looking for a drink. Hope she has the best in life come her way and keeps being the great person she is. One local described this place as a hotspot for police activity and shoot-outs - thankfully none of that took place during my stay. Hooligans is a rather typical, if somewhat larger than normal neighborhood pub that offers up the usual selection of mediocre but popular American lagers and various wines. Within it's-gasp-incredibly smokey walls-gasp gasp-one can find pool tables, an interesting jukebox, a dark ambiance (my favorite kind, I like my bars dimly lit and borderline sketchy), and an area in the back where live music can be seen on occasion. It's a lot of fun watching football here with the rabid fans. Good prices on beer, too ($4.50, seems pretty fair to me although I'm not really much of a bar guy to have an informed opinion). Full bar, and very good food. I hear the onion rings are to die for. Only thing I can say bad about Hooligans-there's been occasions when children are present. Especially once in particular, maybe a month ago, it was overrun with them. Probably 10 or so, all ages. The teens were playing pool, playing table shuffleboard. I go to a bar to get away from kids. They've been well-behaved, that's not the point, there's a sign on the front door requiring all patrons to be at least 21. This past Sunday (12/11) I didn't see any. Hopefully the problem has been addressed. Good crowd, older group I'd say (50+) and everyone gets along well. Never seen a fight or anything close to one. Good friendly service, too, the waitresses are highly personable and they hustle, which is always appreciated. Hard workers. Seahawks fans outnumber any other team, followed by Green Bay and San Francisco. But people hang out away from their tribes, too. I recommend Hooligans! read more

I had not visited Hooligans in years, but recently moved close by, and thought I would check it out. A friend and I had a wonderful time playing pool and enjoying some beers. But it gets better.. The owner apparently gives flowers out to ladies every week out of the kindness of his heart. Not many businesses out there like this! I left with this beautiful bouquet. Thank you! Hooligans has been a historical location with many different owners. However, in the last year, I would say this place has changed DRAMATICALLY (for the better). They now serve liquor & food... and the place is much more clean & drama-free than seen in years past. They have amazing LOCAL food options, great priced drinks, and a great group of hard working staff. I would recommend trying the wings and/or cheese curds! And if you are a fan of pool, shuffle board or darts, this is the perfect place for you! Happy hour is from 4-7pm every day besides Sunday.... definitely would recommend this bar to anyone looking for a great hang out spot! read more
