Comfortable tavern with full bar and craft beer on tap. Plenty of TVs plus high and low tables. Nice decorations round out the place. Good responsive wait staff. I had eaten here one other time quite a few years ago. I had the 3 Carnitas Tacos with pico de gallo. Meat tasted good, plenty of pico too. Tortillas held together nicely. Hot sauce had a different flavor to it, couldn't put my finger on the taste. It was nice and spicy though, not overly hot. Could have used a lime for a quick drizzle. Stopped in early afternoon and caught a laid-back vibe--locals trickling in for a late lunch, TV on mute, and country rock playing just loud enough to keep the energy going. I had the pub tacos, which were definitely spicy--fine for me, but it would've been nice to see a heads-up on the menu for those less heat-inclined. Flavor was solid, though. Overall, it's good pub fare--hearty, familiar, satisfying. That said, I thought this place billed itself as a tavern? The line between tavern and pub gets blurred here. Not a complaint, just a small identity crisis. The wait staff was attentive, talkative in a friendly way, and quick to cater to anything I needed. Service earns high marks. Why 4/5? 1st, time there. Wednesday evening. We had a group of 9 and had no trouble getting seating accommodations. Our server was right there to take our drink orders & to bring them. It took her quite awhile to come back & take our orders, along with an extremely long time to receive our food. The food was great! None of us had any complaints about our choices. I had ordered the seasoned fries with my order and loved them. I was sitting at the end of the table and had a very hard time hearing the people close to me, let alone anyone further down the table. The acoustics were very poor. Also, the server was very slow to even check on us. We had to flag her down to get refills on our drinks. In other words, not enough staff to accommodate the customers. Had a great experience at Twisted Timber! The food was delicious--especially the smoked brisket, which was packed with flavor. Portion sizes were perfect, and everything came out hot and well-presented. The atmosphere is super cozy with a rustic, timber-themed vibe that feels both relaxed and inviting. It was clean, the noise level was just right, and overall had a really good energy. Our server, Josh, was friendly and helpful without being overbearing. I can't believe I've been living 2 miles from this place for the last 2 and a half years and this was my first time visiting! Twisted Timber checked all my boxes for an A+ evening. If I could more than 5 stars, I would. For drinks my husband tried a Lush IPA (7% ABU, 80 IBU, Fremont Brewing) and I downed 2 glasses of Bourbon Barrel Peach Cider (6.9% ABV, Tieton Cider Works). It was the perfect balance of tart from the apples and sweetness from peaches. Super crisp and refreshing. I could have drank more if I wasn't DD. For food, we split a Buffalo Pizza with Cauliflower Crust (10", Buffalo sauce, chicken, olive, spinach, and avocado, $16.00) and baked sweet potato fries ($5.95). Okay, if I'm being completely honest here I have to say I have my suspicions about the cauliflower crust because it was just too damn good! I've had cauliflower crust that was absolutely horrendous but you know what you're getting yourself into. The avocados were a nice touch and these were fresh! No browning or bruises on any pieces. It honestly was a really pretty piece of food. The sweet potato paired excellently. They were cooked to crispy perfection and served with delicious fry sauce. I'll come back just for some cider and fries! We both walked out more than satisfied and agreed this is somewhere we may very well began to frequent on the regular. Last night was pretty excited to try this place out due to the 4 star rating on Yelp! Walking in all things seemed to be good lots of TVs with the games on and a few open tables. The tables are 1st come 1st serve which is fine seeing we found one right away. The ambience of the place is open with lots of seating at tables, high tables and at the bar. This is a classic looking sports, brew house bar/vibe. After being seated we were greeted by our very friendly waitress Christy and is the only reason for the extra star. She was super friendly and outgoing and immediately felt great about being here. Plus they have a great on tap and can selection of beers, seltzers and cider including some wine offerings as well. So things are still looking up and now that the adults all have some beverages all things are still looking good. Plus want to mention another high point before I get to my food experience. There was another waitress working with a flat brimmed hat, Oregon beavers t shirt and twin pony tails. She was awesome and helped us get the Boise Star Bowl game for us...her personality was great! So now your reading and question why the 2 star and it comes right down to the food. Looking at other reviews it starts adding up to why. What also has changed is the super limited menu now which is nothing like some of the pictures on line. For appetizers we had both dry rub and buffalo chicken wings along with their pub fries. The chicken wings were so gummy and in some cases not cooked well and had a microwave taste to them. Our family is huge chicken wing fans and these were not good and all 6 of us felt the same. It's a rare occasion with our family to have any chicken wings left and after a few bites no one wanted anything to do with these. For dinner my wife had the chicken tacos and took one bite and said these are disgusting and they must be using the same gummy microwave chicken meat. Plus the guacamole that was served with hers was actually brown on top. My daughter and son in law both had the carnitas tacos and both said it tasted like it came out of a microwave. Now this is not just a fluke and tells me they might not have a real kitchen in the back and this is all prepared foods out of pancaking that is just heated up. Then the pizza...I had the meat combo and added mushrooms and while flavorful it was under cooked and it I was going to give it a pizza review it would've been a 4.0 out of 10. Plus to add insult to injury after not really liking the food overall with tip $200 down the drain. Christy got a great tip from me because this wasn't her fault and maybe the owners should taste the food that comes out and if you do and you think this is great please get out there and experience what great taste likes. It's a shame because this whole are newly being here is starving for great locally owned spots for locals to chill and hang in. I was surprised at how good the food is here. Typical sports bar atmosphere. Beer options from OR, WA, ID (plus more) breweries. Not a ton of beer options but they had some good options for each style of beer. I ended up ordering an IPA from Breakside Brewery. (I'd personally like to see more local Boise beers added.) I was surprised at how reasonable the food prices were. Most places are significantly more expensive. (I didn't take a food menu pic, sorry) I ordered a half sandwich and soup. I was undecided between several sandwiches and the waitress the recommended the new Italian sandwich. The soup on the side was tomato basil. The soup was pretty average, not bad, but pretty basic. But the sandwich was incredible. VERY good!! I also tried the baked fries and they were some of the best fries I've had in awhile. I also ordered a salad to go, because someone at the table ordered it and it looked amazing. (I did try the nachos, which were pretty basic, nothing too exciting to say about them). From other reviews I've read, I think their strong points are salads and sandwiches... The waitress was genuinely friendly and helpful. It didn't feel forced or fake. And the people at the restaurant all were nice and smiling when walking by. Just seemed like everyone was happy and in a good mood. They also have a parking lot with lots of parking. I'm in complete accord with Chris H on this one. Not a 2 star experience, but not quite a 4. So, bring on 3 a-ok stars! Came to meet friends for a beer and ended up staying for dinner. The beer offerings were solid, though there was nothing I was overly excited about. I ended up ordering the 8 Ball Stout, which is an oatmeal stout made in Eureka, Ca at Lost Coast Brewery. It's a decent stout--not my favorite but definitely not bad. For dinner, my dining companion and I decided share an order of their chicken nachos and their BBQ chicken quesadilla. The quesadilla was delish though I wasn't as big a fan of their nachos. The real appeal of this place is the atmosphere. It is definitely a friendly neighborhood type joint. It has a great casual pub vibe. If I lived in the 'hood, I would definitely head here for a regular post-work beer and hang sesh. The service was fast, friendly, and efficient. We were in a large group (there were roughly 12 of us, I think) and she got all of our orders and checks spot on perfect. Oh! And, they have darts and pool for those interested in bar games! Another one of our absolute favorites that is so close to Home. When my husband and I were trying to figure out where we were going to live when we first moved to Idaho, this was the first place we stumbled upon (also per yelp reviews). We had lunch and shared a beer and began falling in love with the area. Fast forward, we ended up moving near by and we LOVE visiting. The food is always great no matter what you get... although I must suggest the club dip has kinda been my "go to" as of late. They serve beer and wine, so if you are looking for cocktails, this isn't the place. Their beer selection changes every so often as well. Which is really fun when they bring out the new lists. (Unfortunately we do not remember her name) She kept us updated on food which was awesome as the place was PACKED yet we got all of our food and drinks extremely fast. Slow and borderline rude...unfortunate. Down to 3 stars...sorry! Cute little bar and close to my house...BOOM! They have a good selection of beers on tap, which are rotated regularly. The food is good...there are NO FRYERS here so even the fries are baked...I have to say the baked sweet potato fries are yummy! This place isn't huge, but there is tons of seating.
