I have been doing my little Fish & Chips search through Boise and I will have to say, this place is Hands Down the best yet that I have found! Now I have been here a few times and I like the place. The service is good, especially in the bar. The place is very open and has great light and fresh air which I always love. Add to that some great food and creative cocktails and you have a winner! They have a great Old Fashion that is a creation of one of the bartenders and I think is just a fantastic drink! Balanced flavor, a little sweet but not too sweet...with a nice bourbon finish to it! Now back to the Fish & Chips...I have had them twice now, with the same cocktail to chase them down. These are what Fish & Chips are meant to be. The batter is light with a great crunch, not heavily breaded but a light flavorful batter! I visited 10 Barrel Brewing recently with my fiancé, and while there were some high points regarding the flavors and service, the experience was a bit of a mixed bag. To start, I tried the Pickletini. As a fan of pickle-forward drinks, I found it "not bad"--a solid choice if you enjoy that briny profile. My fiancé opted for the All Ways Down Double IPA flight. At 9% ABV, it was a heavy hitter, but he really enjoyed the intense hop aroma and flavor provided by the Cryo Hops. For my main, I ordered the TNT Sando (Tri-Tip with bacon jam and garlic aioli) on Gaston's grilled focaccia. I requested it without pickles, and it was excellent. I paired it with the Black Bean and Veggie soup, which was a standout--perfectly delicious with a nice "zing" to it. Unfortunately, the meal hit a significant snag with my fiancé's Fish & Chips. The beer and cornmeal tempura batter was extremely thick (nearly 3/4 of an inch in some spots) and the fish was overcooked. Additionally, the blue cheese dressing on his side salad was very runny and tasted off. It was disappointing enough that we had to send it back. We replaced it with The Spicy Italian pizza. This was a total 180--it arrived looking beautiful, and the combination of the meats, pepperoncinis, and hot honey was absolutely delicious. Our server, Casey P., was generally good and attentive, though we did have to wait to start our meal because we weren't initially provided with napkins or silverware. A minor note on the atmosphere: the table we were seated at had "gay" carved into the wood, which felt a bit out of place for the professional vibe of the rest of the establishment. Such a fun Brewery to hang at catch a game or just have a beer this is the place to come too. After Walking for a while we wanted somewhere to catch the game and even though there was a huge line to get in loved that the bar area was first come first serve so that's where we sat and they were quick to help us. It was def packed and very busy due to there being an event outside, glad it was just two of us. We got waters right away and we were there for a beer but quickly saw that the food looked good and smelled delicious. We went with a pizza and it was pretty far good, we got it to go but had a few pieces there. We got to catch the game and have a refreshing beer, they have a great selection of beers and great food options. Our server was great, they get pretty busy and the place is huge so be patient if you are with a big group. Can't wait to be back and try other Options and come with friends. Much more than your average brewery! The food quality and creativity surprised me, in the best way. The also have cocktails. I broke tradition from my companions, who all ordered pale ales, and I loved my pineapple Moscow mule. Don't get me started on the nachos! It's a homemade potato chip base (not chips). Must like blue cheese to really appreciate dish. Fried artichoke was delicate and tasty. Half Hack, half Italian pizza good too (though a touch on the greasy side). We came back to 10 barrel today after skipping it ever since the corporate hedge fund investor group merger takeover that caused the firing of very good people in the local area. We were very happy to see one familiar face that survived the takeover. We came in for happy hour and the ambience is generally the same brew pub style, good music playlist, people chatting, TVs on, as expected Of course, the beer quality seems to be about the same, however, I did try their fresh, hop, pale ale, and none of their normal staples. The restaurant was fairly slow when we ordered our food, so when it took quite some time to have the food delivered, it was kind of surprising. The wings tasted just fine and the cheese balls were pretty good. The best thing that 10-barrel has going for it, I would say, is their staff.... And did you know they have a five dollar martini happy hour that starts at 11 AM and goes till 5:30 PM....what? I can tell you that the real estate agents in their 60s certainly know that! read more

Full marks for service and ambiance. We came in on a Friday afternoon, right when the place started getting busy. We were quickly seated in the bar area by a very friendly hostess, and immediately served by a super personable bar tender. There was a great selection of local beers on tap (we had three different beers, all decent), everything we ordered came out quickly. The vibe was perfect for a Friday evening. The menu was fun and creative; I only wish there were some good plant-based options. Oh well, can't have everything. Their menu has a great variety of options. Everything from burgers and pizza to Bulgogi and fish tacos, so there's definitely something there for just about everyone! The Bulgogi was delicious, but I do wish there had been more veggies and chicken with all of that rice. The sauce on the Bulgogi was delicious, though! I will probably order it again at some point. The pizza was good, but also a bit light on the toppings. , so some of the meals could have been taken up a notch, but it was still an enjoyable meal, and is a place I would visit again. We visited 10 Barrel Brewing during a leisure/work trip to Boise and we are glad we stopped by (twice). Our first experience was great as we enjoyed some beers and brussel sprouts and our server chatted about all things Boise with us to our delight. We visited again with some colleagues and the burgers, pizza and salad lunch special, and nachos were all delicious. They were short-staffed and we came in after a few large groups when we visited this time. This lead to some delays with our food orders but the manager kindly paid for our first round of drinks. We were able to park on the street around the corner but there were also paid meters and a parking lot close by. I don't even know where to start, honestly. For context, I was a bartender for over a year, and started when I was only 20 years old. I know how hard it can be, and I usually never ever don't tip. Typically, I have a lot of understanding in these situations. I woke up this morning after a night out with some friends and realized this place charged me $17 for a beer and a gin and tonic. That price is crazy for what it was, but it's not why I'm pissed. It is however, why I officially decided to leave this. Not a fun amount to wake up to. I went in with a group of 11. Everyone had maybe one or two drinks. We sat directly in front of the bar. Our server went around and took our drink order around 8:00pm. It could've been about 8:15, but at the end of the day we got there two hours before they closed, about an hour before their kitchen closes. He took a bit to get us our drinks but it's a big table, so it's understandable. Our server then proceeds to not check on us for over 40 minutes. Three people still have drinks. The rest of us clearly don't. I brought some glasses to the bar, I do this when I go out pretty often. While I was there, I mentioned we were ready for a second round. I'm also planning to order food, mind you. I only checked the time at 8:20. I had no idea that by the time our server came back, it was 9:00pm. Never even came by to tell us the kitchen was closing. Never even asked if we wanted food. Took our drink order and apparently didn't plan to come back until I went up and asked someone. Just entirely awful. My friend who doesn't drink really needed to eat something more substantial. Truly felt like the guy just didn't even want to be there. He might've been newer, but again, we sat right in front of the bar. If he's new, someone else should be stepping in if it's obvious we have 7+ empty glasses and menus in some hands. I'd prefer to have gone in two hours before the kitchen closes, I don't like ordering or being somewhere when they're about to close. but I mean, we're talking about two hours before the building closes. so seriously, there's zero reason to have acted like that. I know damn well the kitchen would've survived having two artichoke orders at 8:30. Every time we come to visit my daughter at BSU, we meet the local fam here for dinner and drinks. We headed in here last friday night before the game and had as always such great service, food and drinks! I am obsessed with that darn PB burger. It's insanely good. My mom ordered a steak minus sauce, it had sauce on it, took a minute to get it remade but they were on it and so sweet to comp it for the trouble. She said it was the best steak she had ever had, that she ordered it up again the next day to enjoy back at the house. Service is always wonderful and such a great vibe! This one will probably be super short. I wrote one for 10 Barrel a year ago, that's mainly why lol. Last year, friends and I did a performance on the main stage at Pride. We do this fitness class called, Pound Fit. For the past 3 years now, Pride has invited us to do a 30 min set on Sunday. Last year, afterwards, we went to 10 Barrel and had a fantastic experience. This year, after our set, we returned to this place. I rarely ever go downtown anymore. Too much construction these days for me lol. I'm a grumpy old man haha. I was very happy to go back here again tho. It's a restaurant that I would recommend to anyone who is either visiting or who has never been there. They are just so unbelievably nice at this place. Service is fantastic, wait time for food isn't bad at all. Keep in mind, we went around 12ish, like an hour after the pride parade. So it wasn't very busy. Not sure what wait times are like on busy days. I'm guessing it's the same. William was our waiter. High energy, very positive, efficient guy. Sense of humor as well. We were talking about Post Malone and i honestly love me some Posty haha! My buddy was saying he didn't like Postys vibrato and was trying to imitate it. William appears out of nowhere and basically killed the impression of Post haha! So he definitely earns some extra points for that. Great guy. Whoever runs this place, not sure if it's the same guy as last year, but they do a great job, they hire the best people. Prices are reasonable too. Plenty of crazy overpriced restaurants downtown...where the food is just kinda...bleh. At least 10 Barrels is good and you don't feel poor after you leave haha. Location is ideal, too. Close to everything. Tons of restaurants, bars, etc all over this area. It's across from Freak Alley, which is oddly a huge tourist attraction lol. It's cool tho, not gonna lie. I almost didn't stop by here. I was in town for a week and this was WAY across town from me (okay, it was half a mile. But there were at least two dozen places to eat between me and 10 barrel). I'm quite glad that I made the walk over! Great place with great energy inside. I went on a night they had some live music, which is always nice. They have a ton of different beers on tap, surely there's one that will meet your needs. I wish I could drink more just so I could enjoy more of them. Yes, you can get a flight and taste a whole bunch if you like. I had a pizza and while you might think, "Oh, sure, pizza." It was good. It was really good. The pepperoni was full of flavor and really made that pie great. Oh, and so you don't miss it, you can buy the kitchen staff a 6-pack of 10 barrel beer right there on the menu to thank them! Came here with a party of 10 on a Saturday night and it was pretty packed! The service was a bit slow, which is understandable because of the large crowd but the staff was friendly. That being said, there's a lot of indoor seating available. The bathrooms were also clean. Minors are welcome during all hours, so it's a family-friendly spot! I ordered the TNT Sando, which was great! It was savory and a bit sweet from the caramelized onions and bacon jam (which didn't overpower the other flavors). The fries were warm and crispy. We arrived at 12:10 yesterday. We were seated promptly, and given water & menus. A female server walked by and said she would be back in a couple minutes. Ok. We keep seeing people around us getting served. Twenty-five minutes later my husband went to ask the host (male) when we would be waited on. "Well we're busy." However they were not that busy when we walked in. Then a table of 6 were being waited on by two servers. They had come in 10 to 15 minutes after us. We were DONE with that, and walked out. We went to the Matador, and were promptly served. I don't want excuses. It was well advertised that there was a protest downtown, and should have been staffed accordingly. I have been to 10 Barrel Brewing before but I haven't been to the Boise location before. It's situated right downtown which is a very walkable place and I enjoyed my visit here. I love PB&J porters but they aren't very easy to find. Granted, they can be found just ever a bit more so than they used to be several years ago but are still rare enough that if I spot one I never pass it up. And 10 Barrel did indeed have one, the Peanut Butter Jelly Time! It was great and just exactly what I hoped it would be with the peanut butter and jam like flavor highlights at work. It was sweet too but not to the point where it was too much. I fondly remembered my other 10 Barrel experiences with their beer in the past and I can add this beer as another positive experience. I was munchy but didn't want anything too involved but something on the lighter side so I got a nice, small salad with a very tasty vinegarette dressing and that hit the spot for what I was looking for. They dusted the chips with a little paprika and serve with a runny salsa. (I like thick). I had the Peanut Butter Bacon Burger with fries while others had pizzas. My choice was the best - what a great burger with a tangy Thai/sauce peanut butter thing going on - but there was also grated carrots in the mix that added a nice crunchiness with every bite. Wow! And the fries were crispy on the outside with a nice soft inside and salted just right. I'd order this again. (My associates' pizzas? Eh, not great, not bad, but glad I got the burger. Service? Excellent! Jasmine was great. Great smile, personality, sense of humor, and was on top of whatever we needed. We came in after the march on the Capitol. We waited a good 20 minutes just to be acknowledged. We ordered drinks and which took another 20 minutes to receive. The server did not explain the confusing pizza options. I ordered a pizza that I thought would cost $16, with only mushrooms and garlic. It took 45 minutes to get my pizza. The server gave us our pizzas, but no plates or silverware. I had actually asked the bus boy for plates. I literally could not even see the mushrooms. Also, I got onion (just a couple of slivers) instead of garlic. I was charged $4 for the cheese! and another $4 for the scant veggies. My total bill just for the pizza was $25.44.
