We met our friends at Sid's Garage when visiting Boise and the restaurant was decent. Our waitress and the overall service was great, however for the price I don't feel it was fantastic. My son had the Apple Pie Shake (can't remember their name for it) and the Trailer Trash, while I had a kids cheeseburger and my husband had the crack chicken sandwich. We also shared a truffle Parmesan fry. Everything was delicious, but seemed fairly pricy. The shakes are slightly on the crazy side so it might be worth it to visit for that. read more

Switched from Canola Oil to Beef Tallow! That deserves a star all on its own!! It's not a relaxing atmosphere but it's not terribly loud either, it's a fun atmosphere for a smaller group. The hostess and our waitress were both great! Our kids enjoyed their Cheeseburgers and we all loved the Truffle Parmesan Fries with some Ranch. My husband had the Whiskey Bacon Burger and he said a solid 4.5/5 Stars. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken Salad and I'd give it 3.5/5 Stars, I wasn't starving so it did hit the spot. I have been eye balling this joint for a hot minute! I have seen photos of thier over the top shakes and candied bacon. They have such a fun vibe so of course I wanted to celebrate my birthday here! Walking in, the music was loud! I love a chill vibe. I see my party sitting against the wall so I told the host in the front that I see my party. Our server did get drinks started for the others. He finally came back to check up on us. I got me a lemonade to sip on. Our last person showed up finally and we ordered dinner while she was looking over the menu. For dinner I got tempuraed green beans and candied bacon. The greens beans came in a shoe but they took the shoe away. My bacon was neatly hung and charred by a different server. I thought that was neat. The green beans were tasty! The batter did have good seasoning to it. I honestly wouldn't call the batter tempura. To me, tempura is light and airy. This batter was not. It had a thickness to it. Some of my friends didn't like the sauce that came with it but I enjoyed it! The bacon was very very very tasty! I love a great savory and sweet combo. I recommend the candied bacon for sure! For a fun joint, I am surprised they don't do anything for birthdays. My friend asked our server if they do ice cream or cake for birthdays and his response was "if you want to pay for it". Kinda tacky and such a great way to dampen the vibe. Very early dinner, popped in around 4:00 PM with no reservation while shopping in the village. Party of 4 seated immediately. This was my second time eating at Sid's garage. The last time was at the Downtown location. The ambience of the village location is a little bit more closed off and segmented than the Downtown location. Overall, the restaurant seems smaller. The best seating was up against the wall in the high booths. Unfortunately, they pushed one small round and a square tiny table together to make a table for four. It was awkward and right by the exit for the kitchen, but we made the best of it. As for the food - fun burgers that taste great is my overall review. You can't go wrong with any of the burgers. Keep in mind, though that the patties are very thick . It's a lot of meat . If you like In-N-Out burgers with those thin patties, these are quite the opposite . Our favorite was actually not a burger. It was the donut grilled cheese with a side of tomato basil soup. It was different and definitely had a sweet kick to the donut bread. Also honorable mention to the the Parmesan cheese fries and a huge shout out to their dipping sauce. We enjoyed that sauce on both our fries and our burgers. It has a little bit of a vinegar sweetness to it with pepper that makes it all their own. As for prices for our party of four, the total bill was about $70. You can't eat anywhere for four people for much less. For example, five guys would run you about $15 a person. Keep in mind our tab did not include alcohol, we each ordered an entrée and shared an order of fries. Two waters and two soft drinks rounded out our meals. Know if you added in one of their fabulous shakes, that's gonna send you back about 15 bucks but for a special occasion, it's well worth it. For an everyday sit down meal while you're shopping in the village or a casual special occasion I highly recommend treating yourself to Sid's garage. read more

Since it took a while for us to be acknowledged as we waited to be seated, it gave us time to take in the steam-punk and funky fun, loud environment. After we were seated by the kitchen, it took an extraordinary long time again to be acknowledged and served with drinks (the place wasn't too busy at the time at 11:30 am, Sunday morning), but after we were finally approached to start the process by our friendly server, things were paced quite nicely and steadily. The poor start to seating and service is what dropped this from a 5 to 4 rating. Burgers are whacky and different which makes Sid's unique. Many burgers come with candied bacon or interesting sauces, cheeses or flavor combinations you've never thought of. There are no combos here; if you want a side it's listed as an appetizer, so it will come out first, not with your burger (unless requested). I ordered the new burger, the French Onion Dip, which is a 1/2 Lb. Angus blend burger on a croissant, cheese and onion ring. It's rich and very different. I loved its richness, though would have appreciated some freshness like lettuce, tomato or something to cut down the richness a bit. However, I ordered French onion so I it's gluttonous as it should be. Hubby had the Steakhouse burger after complaining he couldn't find anything that appealed to him (he's very picky) without the onion marmalade. He rated his burger a 9 out of 10, so it had to be exceptional. Drinks are quickly refilled and the Loco Fries were absolute perfection...crispy, plentiful and heavily seasoned without tasting like it. The only downside is the the fry sauce didn't wow, but the fries don't really need anything to dip with because they are that good! It's a good thing calories don't count on vacation. This place was so fun. We started with the candied bacon which was highly recommended by our Server. They hit the rosemary with a torch tableside. We each had a burger. I had the "208" burger with Brie, fig jam, Granny Smith apples, balsamic glaze with spring mix. Apples on a burger was interesting and it worked. The burger was delicious. My favorite dining partner had the "French Onion" burger on a croissant with Gruyère cheese and onion rings. We spilt a truffle parm fries which were crispy and delicious. This location is doing a bit of a remodel so the alcohol drinks were limited, so we ordered monstrous booze-filled milkshakes. I came in right when they opened today after attending an outdoor Polynesian hula dance class the village in Meridian was hosting and they got me seated at the bar right away. I just wanted one cocktail and a burger- I will say they are on the pricey side considering the burgers don't seem very big unless you're getting one with multiple patties and if you want fries or some kind of side with your burger that costs extra, from what the bartender said the sides are really big which is why they charge seperate for them but I didn't really care to have anything in addition to my burger and I came alone today so no one I could share anything with so I just did my cocktail and burger today. I got the watermelon cucumber fresh which was a very refreshing gin watermelon cocktail with a slice of English cucumber and the 208 burger lettuce wrapped. The burger had brie cheese, spring mix, granny Smith apple slices and a fig jam served on the side. It was very delicious and though on the small side, it was surprisingly filling ! It was just enough to satisfy me. I planned to go to the village cinema right after to catch a flick and i didn't need to stop by the concession stand at the movie theater ! At a little over $30 with tip it was worth it. I thought by the attitude of the place, if I didn't finish it, I'd get kicked out. I finished it but I didn't realize sides were extra. So I ordered the fried green beans. My GPS tried to tell me it was on the corner next too Urban outfitters. Parked my car then walked to where it said. Nope.. not the place that was the Columbia store. Typed in GPS again to get walking directions, took me to a place called Big Al's Sports bar.. nope still not the place. While waiting for coworker was offered my drink choice.. water it was. The milkshake do look really good (they even have adult ones) but only being able to take about 5 sips before the dairy kicks in is not worth it. The price was very good in the milkshakes as the ones on Vegas are about $20-$30 depending on where you go, so $13 was a nice change. Since it was our first time there the waitress said to try the basic burger. Did not even ask if we are adventurous eaters or what we like on them. Just a normal burger you can get anywhere. Not my cup of tea. I like to try weird and different. I decided to go with the BLT sliders and my coworker did go with basic burger. We got an order of Truffle Parmesan fries. We thought they would come out with our meal but they came as an appetizer and we almost finished the basket before our burgers came. Good fries but this meant we did not finish our burgers. Recently had my first experience at Sid's Garage and enjoyed it! The vibe is comfort food meets spectacle which makes for a fun evening. Cocktails here are a must. I got the Sinatra which was basically a smoked old fashioned. It came served in a smoke filled mini trunk (so fun!). It was a solid cocktail. For our starter, we opted for the parmesan truffle fries and the candied bacon. The parmesan truffle fries were shoestring width, perfectly crispy, and seasoned to perfection. The candied bacon came hanging from clips with rosemary and our server then flamed the bacon with a butane torch. It was quite a show. Plus, the bacon was the perfect balance of slightly sweet and smoky. Delicious! The grilled salmon was basically a grilled salmon salad. The salmon was overcooked and the salad was underdressed. So, a bit of a swing and a miss with that one. For dessert our group shared a shake. There were three of us and seriously, one shake was plenty for us all to have our fill and we still had enough for my dining companions to take some home. They are decadent, creative, and delicious. Ok ... so this one is bittersweet. I've been coming to Sid's since right after they opened their doors. For a few years this place was absolutely my favorite place to eat. There was a smoked candied jalapeño bacon appetizer back then that was off the hook. A burger called "boss hog" that had a slab of pork belly that I would have driven 100 miles out of my way to eat. The 80's - 90's rock ambiance continues to be very nice. My issue ... things have changed. The candied jalapeño smoked bacon appetizer appears to have undergone a recipe change is no longer remarkable. The burgers have changed, which is fine, but in my last two visits the burgers have consistently been overcooked from the medium I requested and dripping in fat ... it's almost soggy. I will say the fries, which are fried in beef tallow, are really good. It just feels like overall quality here has slipped significantly. The service is still good and I have no complaints there. The staff is friendly and helpful. It just feels like the recipe quality is on auto pilot and lacks the quality the owner of this establishment shared with me as his vision on my very first visit here years ago. We came as a walk in on a Friday night and while it was super busy it only took 10 minutes to get a table. I didn't love sitting 2 feet away from someone on the booth though. Music was perfect volume and went with their whole theme. We actually found this place on Yelp. It's located in a fancy outdoor mall so on a Friday evening it was pretty busy. We ended up not having to wait as long as expected though and they will text you so you can walk around the shops. For a smaller restaurant they have a decent size menu. We visited on a Friday evening and got seated after a really short wait. B/C it's the weekend, we went ahead and ordered like calories don't matter. Tempura green beans, crispy tots, and a chicken sandwich. The tempura green beans come with a dipping sauce that tastes like a sweet and savory sauce you'd get at your favorite sushi restaurant. The tots are covered in a savory sauce and have pork belly chunks throughout. The Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich was spicy enough to get a light forehead sweat going. The staff was friendly, timely, and intuitive. The ambiance is loud with music and other customers.
